My family and I have been loyal 9news viewers since forever! I remember being a kid in the early-mid 90's and watching TGIF on channel 9! Back when they were still an ABC affiliated station. I stood up late past my bedtime to watch the "Big Switch" in 1995, when they switched to being an NBC affiliated station. Thanks for the post! Great memories!

I remembered hearing Ernie Anderson, but only through the ABC promos, had no idea that he was voicing the 9News intros. From KUSA in Denver, this is 9News. #1 in Colorado.

The same can be said about Jill Collucci in the beginning of the video you'll hear her singing Colorado is watching channel 9. She did a similar thing for WVEC in Virginia too.

In the Washington, DC area, Tegna, which was spun off from Gannett has the WUSA call letters, their previous ones are now on Hagerstown, MD station we get on FIOS, WDVM which has a huge amount of Local News. The DVM stands for the District (of Columbia) V for Virginia and the M for Maryland. Which is the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.

I guess KUSA has an "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra. They still have the same "9" logo they've been using since 1984 and they still call their newscasts 9 News.

Part of the big mess in Denver in 1995: CBS merged with Westinghouse, which bought Channel 4 from NBC and made it CBS. Gannett, which had a number of NBC stations in tow, took on NBC on channel 9, and McGraw-Hill got ABC for channel 7.

The opening between 3:36 & 4:21, I remembered the most. The 1st voiceover sounded like the same voiceover for KYGO FM 98.5 from back in the day, and the 2nd voiceover for that intro, that one's been around forever. And I totally forgot about Dave Sweeney doing the weather for 9News back then before Mike Nelson came along.

+Tom Williams ABC; KUSA (Originally KBTV) was an ABC affiliate from its initial sign-on in 1952 until 1995, then Gannett made it an NBC affiliate. KCNC (Originally KOA-TV) was an NBC affiliate (and was also an NBC O&O from 1986 until the network switch in 1995), and is now a CBS affiliate (and CBS O&O). KMGH (originally KLZ-TV) was Denver's CBS affiliate until 1995, then became an ABC affiliate (BTW, KMGH is no longer owned by McGraw-Hill, but is now owned by Scripps-Howard Broadcasting).
