To me, the witness making the figures surrounding Zavala fall is in my eyes taking the weight of responsibility (all the faceless people he has to protect) off his shoulders, in an effort to tempt him into becoming a disciple. That's part of what Zavala has been struggling with, the responsibility of being the leader. Being a discipline means no more leadership,no more pain, no more weight of protecting everyone.
those veiled figures are believed to be the entities from the precursor civilization(the witness’s civilization) that actually make up the witness, cause it was stated that it is a being made from an entire civilization, with one goal in mind
It's probably how it stays sane with so many personalities contained in one form/body/mind. The veils give them anonymity and prevent The Witness from ever thinking about life or who they were before. Same goes for all statues of their race, being covered up to hide identity.
In the lore book for the final shape collectors edition it’s implied that some members of the precursor species avoided being combined into the witness. I feel like the veiled figure with the mirror could be one of those such members. If you remember from the witness origin cutscene the precursor species always wore heavy draped garb and covers over their faces.
@@Moobeus when the precursors found the veil they were manipulated into merging their consciousness and become the witness. Bungie always makes banger trailers and this one is definitely no different! I quit the game back in November and have been enjoying watching the game from a distance as Bungie implemented some really great changes to the game. As it stands, as awesome as that trailer is, I will continue to watch from a distance. Through its ups and downs, the game remained great at its core, but for me personally, I don't like what it's become. The "bottom-line first" approach really killed it for me and I think it continues to put players second, regardless of the amazing changes it has done. Still, I'm glad that many others can and will enjoy it and I will follow the game's story until the end of the Final Shape. Looking forward to seeing what they've been working on. 👍🏾
Pipe dream scenario: The shot with all the ships coming in to help out near the end of the trailer is Bungie's final finished vision of their original networking test, the Almighty crashing "live event". Multiple fireteams load into the same raid instance as different teams ascend the Witness's tower from all different angles making this the first literal...raid...race.

I got bored so I made a list to clear some things up. Tassi Correction List: 5:00 - This is not something that was ever said. We have already had a trailer with Shaxx and many other nameless guardians in it. 5:38 - That's not us in our "original" jumpships. Those are Zavala and Ikora's specific arcadia class jumpship models leading the way. Next shot shows Zavala in the cockpit. 5:46 - This cloth was not from his family. This is a piece of Amanda Holliday's scarf. You can tell by the design, and the poetry in that it's established in a shot of Zavala in the cockpit. 6:50 - This is the figure in all of the veiled statues, and the one that we've seen in cutscenes. Beyond that, everything else is speculation and Bungie changes their ideas over and over again. This was never part of an "unconfirmed darkness enemy race." 7:38 - This is not Cayde's body. There are breasts, and no exo horn. The arm is burned with bracelets. Likely Amanda Holliday. P.S. You can use the "" keys to go frame by frame. Someone else here said that too. Hope that helps.
I assume what she's holding is a shard of the traveler. My early theory is that the witness takes this female veiled form as a manipulation tactic. Maybe pretending to be the gardener.
I hope Bungie has been working like the company's future depends on the success of Final Shape, because it does. The Microsoft studio closures have proven that no one is safe.
Bungies does have a habit of spoiling a bit too much with their trailers. They do need to hype this up though to bring people back. I'm not getting Final Shape until I know it's worth my time. Sure, they've been doing pretty well recently, but that tells us nothing about Final Shape. I hope it's great and I hope they've left enough things to surprise us.
The visual analog of the Winnower (cloaked figured) tempting Zavala is so reminiscent of the devil tempting Jesus in the wilderness. Never expected Bungie to make overt biblical references. Still well done.
@StrangeChickandPuppo I said "overt" biblical reference if you can/care to read carefully. As in not hidden in flavor text, lore entries or item descriptions ala the Soulsbourne series. Visual analogs like that are immediately obvious lmao.
Have you played Halo... I mean *Halo* the game where the enemy factions are the Covenant and the Flood, cumulating with a battle over the Ark that was made to stop the Flood... it doesn't get much more blatant than that
The Witness really does remind me a lot of Kala, the Hindu God of Time/Death, with The Winnower personifying 'Night'. The way that all life on Earth is rendered as effigies has similar overtones to Hindu cataclysm. It thus implies that directly confronting The Witness fails and only Guardians (we), not the Vanguard, can undo what has been done.
Way does nobody question why the veiled figure whispered in Zavala ear? That stuck out to me especially since they disappeared (seemingly) when the Witness showed up.
I like the detail where it looks like the floor changes nearly instantly before the apple even strikes the ground. I suspect this is a vision of the future or something, which would be strange but impactful if they actually killed off the last city.
Lol, "I really think it's deserved this time." The single best division at Bungie is the Hype Train Division. Those developers should really go into the movie trailer business because the trailers are always amazing, the game not so much. Hopefully they end on a Last Wish type note.
Ah. Well. That explains why “[you have one mission on launch day: stop the witness]”. Because they didn’t want to have to re-final-shape (and instance) all the destinations.
Yeah this is some seriously great vibes. Absolutely building hype now. 11:02 guarantee it's because Eramis has converted after almost firing the Warsats. "If there is anything left in your heart..." and she stands by us to help the Eliksni.
they always do good trailers. The issue is the game. I haven't played for years and for a second thought 'wow ok I'll get this!!!', but then I realised they always do this and I won't be tricked again
yeah wait till the reviews come out then make your decision. folks that have been with this game for it's life time are definitely gonna finish the story before we think of putting it down.
Is the penalty for destroying the witness a reshaped earth and Milky Way galaxy ? There has to be a penalty for following him and is the final shape being enacted but us stopping him the penalty
I have a feeling our timeline will be all screwy after this. The witness will achieve a sort of final shape, messing things up for all of us in the end even after we beat him.
You'd think that the hive would also show up to fight. I mean anything in the universe that would like to continue existing has a vested interest in joining the fight.
Well here is the thing Bungie did show Savathûn inside the pale heart alongside the Lucent hive so really there is going to be every enemy race in this destination (Hive, Lucent Hive, Taken, Cabal, Scorn, Fallen and the new Dread). But the only drawback to this destination is it's going to be a private session for everyone meaning you won't see randoms running around so it's private for you and your friends unless you matchmake in the new mode!. plus the Campaign missions are going to have Raid/Dungeon like mechanics in them too (Without the Wipe mechanics).
I wonder if some of the inspo behind the hands thing, was from Zelda TOTK, where a "new" enemy is a literally creepy-hands-from-ooze-monster than slimes along the ground (which technically appeared in Zelda 1 NES, but newish to the revised world that is the current zelda).. that was my first connection =)
2:37 Oh I very much took this as a vision sequence. Mara or the Vanguard seeing a vision of what the Witness is intending. Especially since the next scene has Mara pulling back frim a vision of some sort.
Actually, Prismatic allows us to use the Light and Darkness powers together where as without it we couldn't do that. You could always use all the Light powers together or the Darkness powers together but never combine them until Prismatic came about.
@@DarthDragon007 i thought it let us mix and match all subclasses. But ok. But we still could not always use back to back supers, especially after switching subclasses. Ikora and Zavala and any other NPC can do whatever Bungie thinks looks cool, even if it brakes with what is possible in gameplay.
Lore wise all guardians are able to use any Light power together. The classes we have are almost purely gameplay driven. The Titan Warlock and Hunter are more philosophies in the lore, so Bungie uses that to make classes. But any hunter could theoretically use Titan abilities if they so wished to train.
@@spawnofapathy We could always mix/match Light Powers together and perhaps the same could be said for Darkness as well. But Prismatic allows us to combine/mix/match Light AND Darkness together whereas without it they would be separate.
The witness hit the gym to get in Final Shape for the The Final Shape lol. Also Bungie did a great job building Zavala's pain over the pass few years as his fall into darkness.
8:02 cayde is looking at his friend Andal Brask, he died to taniks and lost his bett, the "vanguard dare'". The witness I feel like is tempting him that he can be in a world that his friend is still alive again and that he never lost the vanguard dare. just how zavala is getting tempted by the witness too with his wife.
I bet Cayde will end up as the.. 'Inside the Traveller area' vendor that you rank up by doing shit there. lol And I doubt that Zavala will be corrupted and we have to fight him. Would Bungie really do this with a beloved character, especially after Lance, who voiced him for so long passed away recently? That would feel kinda wrong. I mean Zavala is THE guardian who'd give everything to save the last city. But.. we'll see.
I do like how people interpret stuff differently, firstly that’s not our jump ship that’s the vanguard, second that’s Amanda’s Scarf on Zavalas arm, thirdly all the people around Zavala are I think anyway quite clearly a representation of all the people The Witness is made up of which is why they said “join US”
This all looks crazy hype. But I'm not holding too much hope for your theory that the "cubing" of Earth is what is actually happening and ultimately reversible, as opposed to, say, a vision. While the "reality" view of it feels very tangible and fear-inducing and interesting, I think it would be a little cheap to "cube" and then "un-cube" the planet. Would we un-cube the planet after the last campaign mission? Will everyone be cubed until the Raid is beaten? Once everyone and everything is un-cubed, will it be as if these things never happened? I just think a "vision" theory is more believable. You mentioned that Crow was a Solar Hunter and Ikora a Void Warlock - in Crow's case I don't think he has been shown wielding non-Solar Light, but Ikora and Zavala have. During the WQ campaign Ikora used Nova Bomb and Chaos Reach in quick succession, and Zavala has used Fist of Havoc in cinematics and Ward of Dawn in the Red War opening mission. And in the "Immolation Part 2" Lore from Season of the Hunt, Osiris casts a dual-wield Dawnblade into a Nova Bomb into a Well of Radiance into Arc attacks into Nova Warp into Chaos Reach (right before Sagira sacrifices herself to protect him). However, I think you are right that wielding Prismatic will be reserved exclusively for "our" Guardian and possibly a few others. The ending shot of all the Cabal, Fallen, and Guardian ships gives major Rise of Skywalker vibes. Bungie really is hitting the Endgame / finale vibes. I can't describe how excited I am for this DLC, back when the delay was announced I couldn't imagine how long it would be to reach this point and here we are. Saying that there is only a week until the Final Shape is unbelievable.
listen, the statues are the witnesses race - covered by a veil - basically signifying that they get not say in his intentions while inside of him. To me , there is an internal struggle within the witness with his race now that they are inside the traveler. The conflict leads to them reaching out to us for help in getting liberated from the witness and zavala is the chosen one. His vision is definitely him in their homeworld. probalby them showing him how they were turned forcibly into the witness and asking him for help. This will likely be shown by making us think hes being corrupted.
TFS collectors edition lore taught us something: there is at least one member of the pre-witness civilization who dissented and didn't get sucked into the hivemind. I'm pretty sure that's who it is
@life-destiny1196 brooo that's crazy I didn't know that but for the past week I was playing in my head all the Lightfall story beat misses. And I was saying, "what they should have did to bridge the gap and offer some concise explanation is have there been AT LEAST ONE MEMBER, from that civilization that did not get absorbed and who could kind of take us through ans act like a condiut to the witness and it's intentions!" And here we are.
CGI BS, do not preorder and in fact cancel your preorder. Wait till a legit review comes out on Final shape. use common sense people, the studio was sliced and delayed since Bungie admitted Final Shape was not finish or what they wanted a few months ago
Ikora being blasted through by that Hydra idk she may be dying 👀👀👀👀👀 and Zavala working with the Witness? A literal darkness guardian live????? It was a great trailer, but it’s more about story. It’s just something I’ve noticed watching a lot of destiny videos but lots of people call the witness a he I feel like ‘they’ makes more sense since they’re literally an entire civilisation condensed into a single creature
I really think the franchise missed an opportunity to ground itself / make it feel more lived in by letting us take our armor off and mingle with the city we are protecting
I know this is silly...but if you look at the title graphic "The Final Shape"...the un-splintered letters spell "EFN ASAP". I have to think someone did that on purpose...
The trailers look good as usual but it’s looking like this won’t be the Forsaken level expansion that this NEEDS to be and whats made every dlc since so underwhelming in comparison. Almost wish Forsaken never happened because we haven’t seen anything like that in YEARS

@@spawnofapathygameplay wise yes, lore wise it's the combination of light and dark
@@spawnofapathy We could always mix/match Light Powers together and perhaps the same could be said for Darkness as well.
But Prismatic allows us to combine/mix/match Light AND Darkness together whereas without it they would be separate.
I have a feeling Zavala and ikora will all be gone. We’ll be left with crow and cayde
“Getting cubed” is the new Thanos Snap 😅
The witness hit the gym to get in Final Shape for the The Final Shape lol. Also Bungie did a great job building Zavala's pain over the pass few years as his fall into darkness.
We have been in a Vex simulation this whole time, we never actually came out of the infinite forest. 😂😂
If we lose Zavala as an enemy.... man ☹️😭🥲
He’s a dribbet😊
I’m assuming the veiled figures are the race of aliens that became the witness
8:02 cayde is looking at his friend Andal Brask, he died to taniks and lost his bett, the "vanguard dare'". The witness I feel like is tempting him that he can be in a world that his friend is still alive again and that he never lost the vanguard dare. just how zavala is getting tempted by the witness too with his wife.
The distorted Billie Eilish vocals in the background are honestly hard af
I bet Cayde will end up as the.. 'Inside the Traveller area' vendor that you rank up by doing shit there. lol
And I doubt that Zavala will be corrupted and we have to fight him. Would Bungie really do this with a beloved character, especially after Lance, who voiced him for so long passed away recently? That would feel kinda wrong. I mean Zavala is THE guardian who'd give everything to save the last city.
But.. we'll see.
cloth on zavalas shoulder is amanda holidays
I changed back to the old jumpship last week. It just seemed right. Haha
I think we saw Zavala's hut from his story in the recent 2 part vidoc.
Hexagons are the Bestagons. I think the Witness is failing us by settling for boring cubes.
Shocking is a nice way to put it
Im honestly ready for this story to be over. I can't believe all the amazing Destiny lore got turned into a Marvel movie.
🤡
listen, the statues are the witnesses race - covered by a veil - basically signifying that they get not say in his intentions while inside of him.
TFS collectors edition lore taught us something:
there is at least one member of the pre-witness civilization who dissented and didn't get sucked into the hivemind. I'm pretty sure that's who it is
@life-destiny1196 brooo that's crazy I didn't know that but for the past week I was playing in my head all the Lightfall story beat misses. And I was saying, "what they should have did to bridge the gap and offer some concise explanation is have there been AT LEAST ONE MEMBER, from that civilization that did not get absorbed and who could kind of take us through ans act like a condiut to the witness and it's intentions!"
And here we are.
So minecraft is the final shape👀
use your dot and comma key to go frame by frame paul
CGI BS, do not preorder and in fact cancel your preorder. Wait till a legit review comes out on Final shape. use common sense people, the studio was sliced and delayed since Bungie admitted Final Shape was not finish or what they wanted a few months ago
All of these scenes will be in game cutscenes, saying “CGI BS” doesn’t mean jack shit
Ikora being blasted through by that Hydra idk she may be dying 👀👀👀👀👀 and Zavala working with the Witness? A literal darkness guardian live????? It was a great trailer, but it’s more about story. I like the montage “here’s what’s coming activity wise and here’s some of the weapons” kind of trailers. I think that trailer is coming
(pause) this is cool (pause) I like that (pause) jumpships (pause) corruption (pause) Ace of Spades (pause) rent is due and this trailer just came out lmfao
1 we heard. CAYDE returns to us,,,
2. We heard. When you fight the final boss 1 gaurdian must stay back to sacrifice .him self to save the others ,,,but i doing so. That gaurdian gets DELETED. ,from our characters,,,,,
3 ,,numerous other things we heard.
It’s just something I’ve noticed watching a lot of destiny videos but lots of people call the witness a he
I feel like ‘they’ makes more sense since they’re literally an entire civilisation condensed into a single creature
I really think the franchise missed an opportunity to ground itself / make it feel more lived in by letting us take our armor off and mingle with the city we are protecting
The cloth is from Amanda
I know this is silly...but if you look at the title graphic "The Final Shape"...the un-splintered letters spell "EFN ASAP". I have to think someone did that on purpose...
someone let Paul know that its Amanda's bandana on his shoulder....
The Ron day one emblem has witness symbol what is it his weapon the timeline? The final shape? The winower? Love the witness symbol.
zavala is the new speaker
The trailers look good as usual but it’s looking like this won’t be the Forsaken level expansion that this NEEDS to be and whats made every dlc since so underwhelming in comparison. Almost wish Forsaken never happened because we haven’t seen anything like that in YEARS
So "getting cubed" is gonna be a community phrase from now on? 😂
Honestly I wouldn't mind if there were permanent lasting consequences to the earth and the last city getting witnessed.
