This legit makes me emotionally happy for the bungie devs that were yanked around by execs, watching their friends be laid off, and wanting to just make good content for the players. This looks so incredible.

I think the biggest thing most people missed, is that the exotic rolls for your class item can be from any exotic armor in the game. Not just your own class. So you can do things other classes could now as well and create even more crazy combos.
Just imagine putting celestial nighthawk and stareater scales on the class item
I noticed that. I think the warlock bond they had shown us had synthoceps and assassins cowl merged. That's nutty.
However, if you are a hunter and have something like Briarbinds, which is specific to void souls which hunters can't summon, then that perk would be a useless roll... I'm curious how they'll handle that

@@KuraVixenI would absolutely give the satisfactory to the developers, if they disable the subclass for PvP, but if they don't....I'm retiring from playing PvP in destiny 2 and just do PvE forever, since that's what they made this new subclass for, anyway.
This was one of those “fuck the engineers, slam the code” kind of moments. This is gonna be nuts.
The Permeability trait kinda proved they already coded changing sub class types on the fly. Plus the craftening and everything. It's already in the game, might as well unlock it.

the thing is, this doesn't just fuck the balance. they basically have to get rid of "subclasses" now and just make prismatic be the default. whether or not that's healthier for the game overall remains to be seen.
@@sonnyankau9239 I think their goal is to erode "subclasses" anyway so that the only choice your subclass decides is the "matching your subclass" stuff. They want you to feel like a god whos truly mastered every element.
We literally get to place a space wizard version of Avatar: The Last Airbender.... but like... Guardian: The Lightbender type shit.
Also, I haven't seen anyone else say this, so I will: the Tessellation fusion rifle now makes a lot more sense in the context of Prismatic. Not only it's appearance, but the way it's perks and abilities work, it was clearly designed with Prismatic in mind.
Hell, the very name of the gun makes a lot more sense now.
That was my thought as soon as I saw this stream. I was thinking "god damn, they really were teasing Prismatic from the start."
I wonder what happens if you put a prismatic grenade into it?

Underrated point to note:

Check the new Buff UI on the left/right side.
Buffs are categorised by Timer duration:
Shortest duration is a the top, longest duration is at the bottom.
They shift dynamically when they're refreshed based on the above criteria.
Appears you can have up to 8 buffs/debuffs (4 left, 4 right) - At 7:15 you can see:
Facet of Protection
Knockout
Radiant
Amplified
Tangle Cooldown
Heavy Handed Cooldown
It's interesting that it's possible that it may get seperated into positive (buffs) on the left, and negative (debuffs) on the right.
Though there is the occassional conflict, but this could be at different points of development resulting in Tangle cooldowns appearing on the left in earlier footage, before appearing on the right for later footage.
Weapon ready buffs appear above the super bar as a completely seperate point. (Voltshot / Reconstruction / Lightning rod [Trinity ghoul])
The UI is exceptionally clean. Very well done.

I loved playing strand Warlock for the feeling of being a summoner, now I can add ice turrets, arc buddies and play tower defense!
3 Warlocks with the Threadling/Bleak Watcher combo, running thru dungeons with the Bloons TD 6 OST playing in the background.
Now we know how Ikora was able to cast Nova and Choas Reach back to back. She got that pre-order exotic bond.

i remember learning about extremophiles in college. They really do only thrive in extreme( the literal worst conditions), but under normal abundant conditions can sometimes even become dormant. Bungie is and extremophile and the threat of utter complete failure is the stressor they need to thrive .

My dad and I have played destiny since its release. From the very beginning, I’d always felt 2 things - one) why can’t we mix and match parts of different subclasses, and two) why can we wear more than one exotic?
And here we are, in the brink of everything I had asked for at the start 😂😭
I have played with my dad since day 2 of destiny 1 and now my 2 boys are getting into it.i always thought it would be cool if we could just have 2 exotics either weapons or armor.

That was my first thought when I saw the merging of different exotic perks. Devs must've looked at the craftening like hmmmmmmm....
I feel like it was already planned but the craftening reinforced their ideas so they let us have a few days of playtesting.
Everyone was stunned that they literally told us to go have fun for the weekend lol I feel like they were testing the water.

I preordered today. Beyond light got me with the icewall grenade. Stand got me with the Spider-Man grenade. Any one reveal on that list would have been enough today, but we're getting so much more.

It was do or die for this expansion and they honestly might've nailed the presentation. The player count has almost tripled since this livestream (looking at Steam charts), the bungie stream topped out at 153k, cross had 40k. This was massive.

@@Sypitz You can feed it your grenade to trigger different effects, since prismatic allows you to equip any grenade the exotic fits quite well with the subclass. I do however wonder, what happens if you activate transcendence and then feed your nade to the gun?

I dont think some people are fully understanding the class exotic. Its not just 2 exotic traits at once. The traits can be a hunter exotic armor trait in slot 1 and a warlock exotic armor trait in slot 2 on a titan mark.
This right here! It's the thing I feel could really make everyone's builds feel different. Even if you ran someone else's class perk/aspect combo, your Exotic perk set could change the build entirely.
Yeah this is gonna be crazy, at the same time good luck getting the right combination, the grind is gonna be real.

great touch on the psion dreads. the psions are a race that were conquered by the cabal because they had this connection of the mind, now the witness i assume saw potential in the psions and can now use the darkness and also harness strand like the guardians did just a theory tho love the psions

Hot Take: They're introducing the new "subclass" as a way to introduce us to the next iteration of Guardian: No subclasses. You pick a class, you get to mix and match everything under that class.
IIRC thats how lightbarers were before the vanguard invented sub classes.
How is this a hot take? They won’t give us this style of play for just one expansion and then make it disappear. Obviously this will be the new way moving forward, it’s not that deep and you don’t need to point it out because it’s literally what is being shown smh.
I think it might even be a step further. Likely there won’t even be classes going forward and you just pick what abilities you want to use and go

Bungie really pressed the panic button and said F*CK the balance! Throw everything at them and lets balance it later like we did in Forsaken (for better or worse).

Not double exotics, 1 exotic which has random rolls from other exotics, even those outside of your choosen class

The exotic class item they showcased for the Titan had aspects from star-eater scales and ophidian aspect. Both perks from warlocks and hunters.

I got emotional watching this. Crazy how much this game means to me after a decade and how much I missed the Ws. Feels so freaking good to be this excited.
What a journey
It's been one hell of a rollercoaster. From the peaks of the taken king, to whatever the hell Shadowkeep and it's seasonal model was (my personal opinion on destiny's lowest point, lower than curse of Osiris) to the witch queen being the best thing since the taken king... Only to be let down by LightFall.
I've been a guardian since day 1, Ive quit and came back. I've watched thousands of hours of lore videos. We never quit, we just take long breaks. And no one hates destiny more than it's most devout fans... But it comes from a place of love. We want it to be great. So far TFS looks absolutely incredible. I hope it lives up to the hype. I talk shit about destiny all the time but here I am. Eager to see what's next. I know this comment is kinda sappy but damn it feels refreshing to be somewhat excited for an expansion again
Me too, i play since the D1 beta and maybe in Osiris i take the only break from the Game., and of course it have its high and lows like every relantionship but like you said, we love the Game.
I glad to see people not complaying for everything, just enjoy the Game .

The one reason I think this was already kind of planned is the pre-order weapon tessalation. It's exotic trait kinda already has the vibe of mixing subclasses since it just takes on whichever subclass you use it on
But what would it adapt to for this sub class? Like, is it gonna be A kinetic or a whole new thing of its own?

Just as a reminder, that any single new elements (like the red element we THOUGHT we were going to get, and a potential Kinetic 2.0) would ALSO have to be worked into Prismatic going forwards.

The red subclass needs to happen to complete the prismatic rainbow and have even light + dark, then the prismatic subclass is number 7 which has always been a mystical number but especially with Bungie and Destiny with tons of connections and Easter eggs

They started working on this a long time ago. The slots for the extra fragments and aspects have been in the build menu for a while - they've just been grayed out.
Now what they should make are prismatic supers. Like a titan makes this rope of strand with a spike ball of void wrapped in strand and he swings it around and slams it into a poor ass champion. Or a Warlock makes this dragon like construct made of stasis and it breathes out a mix of solar and arc blast, kinda like a chaos reach.
Problem with that is there'd be no reason to use any other super, but it would be really cool

Ngl the combination makes sense as masters of dark and light. But I still would have liked a 3rd darkness subclass. Maybe it still comes with the episode after tfs but it's still intriguing
We didnt get a 'New' subclass at all. All we got was another subclass slot in our menu but this one just lets you pick and choose between all aspects and fragments without limitation.
Its literally the easiest and fastest thing they could have done to cobble together a 'New' subclass in a few months because people were outcrying about no new subclass in TFS...
Now what that has lead to is a kneejerk reaction from Bungie with a seeminly 'Generate hype in the quickest and easiest way possible and worry about the health and balance of the game later' mentality
You get plenty of combinations to play however you want and people still wanna put it in negative light Jesus Christ
@PyraJord agreed. This was the easiest option while providing maximum benefit. The system is good and makes sense narratively I believe. But it most certainly was the only option they had. In the long term it may prove better. But as of right now? It was most certainly the only way bungie could bring back players

In this case, I think Sony is what saved Bungie and put the smack down on the executives. The execs at Bungie pretty much killed the game.

I think what some people are missing is that while Prismatic isn't its own "subclass" with its own unique element, it goes WAY beyond a simple new subclass. The different interactions with all the old abilities that have new interesting interactions between each subclass and damage type, combined with the new exotic class item perks is going to completely change the way the game is played. Like, WAY beyond just making a new subclass.
Prismatic is what we needed, not a new darkness power. It's going to be insanely fun.
Also, it makes a lot of sense that the Traveler is probably releasing the shackles on our light powers, allowing us to use it freely in concert with the darkness powers we got ourselves, and letting us fight the Witness on our terms because it found its own limitations and realized it can't beat the Witness using its own power.

I found that weird too.
This means hunters can have 7 grenades. Use the exotic class item with armamentarium perk and combine that with the strand aspect that gives you a 2ns grenade and youve got 3 grenades. Then all you need to do is throw the grenades, cast transcendence to restore all your ability energy, anf get those 3 grenades back plus the special combonade.
Armamentarium doesn't allow you to exceed two grenades. This has been a limitation since it was implemented. Even on the grenade type that allowed Titans to have two grenades, even with the Armamentarium we couldn't get three. So unless they are making a major change in Final Shape, it will likely remain that way even then. It's possible they could be, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I've literally always wanted that instead of set subclasses you would be able to mix and match things instead and create your own unique build i never thought id actually see it in the game but im really happy its actually happened a great step in really using the great potential destiny always has had

An Exotic piece with the Heart of Inmost Light and Fr0st-335 perks will have your abilities up at literally all times if they even release that type of combination
This prismatic subclass is soooo sick. Lightning surge with strand melee, with Blink jump and astrocyte verse, with devour and grapple? Grapple with bakris and coyote dodge and new arc super? Titan with Grapple, strand melee, with thruster?
With these, I'm gonna be everywhere with these movement options.

honestly, i’m a smidge bummed about the new subclass not being its own thing, but i’ve always wanted to be able to combine things so SUPER ready for this
Ideally, I think we would have gotten 3 darkness subclasses in Beyond Light, Witch Queen and Lightfall and then gotten this one in Final Shape and I think Bungie wanted that too but they just ended up not being able to pull it off.
