The lasers kind of freak me out. Too much technology for something you can do easily with a tool most of us have some access to. Thanks for stopping by!
Another project to keep my busy this weekend. I love my Gel press plate and I love that you show us how to make things with it other than just a stack of prints.
Another way of doing this is to use a stacked paper pendant. I use dies with my gel prints pretty regularly. I cut both the print and then filler paper with the same die and then glue all the pieces together. I typically use 5 pieces of paper but it depends on paper weight and how I position my holes. You can drill through a pendant like Mark demonstrated or with a stacked paper pendant, you can also cut vertical or horizontal channels. Layered paper is very strong and durable. I finish my sides by sanding with a rotary tool and with a nail file. Sometimes I glue a narrow strip of paper around the edge, sometimes I paint, and sometimes I use the layers of paper to create a striped design. I love paper jewelry. Paper jewelry is light weight so I can wear large pieces. Stacked shapes is my favorite type of paper bead because the flat shapes provide wonderful little canvases to do whatever surface treatment you like--paint, collage, more paper layers, whatever you can dream up really. You can coat with resin , I typically use ICE resin because it is jeweler grade and amazingly scratch resistant. Many paper artists just use varnish. I will also glue my gel prints to a pendant frame and glue a glass cab over the top. That’s quick and easy. Another thing I love to do, maybe a little too much, is photograph my prints and then use kaleidoscope software to create kaleidoscopic images. I turn these into both tea bag tiles for origami and pendants for jewelry. I actually have hundreds and hundreds of these files. Yikes. It’s a bit addictive. Mesmerizing images.
@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark I use an iPhone and that’s all I’ve ever had so I am only familiar with Apple’s App Store. All you have to look up is “kaleidoscope” and the apps will come up. I’m sure Google Play and other app stores have similar photo manipulation apps. I photograph works in progress and my supplies in addition to gel prints. I also like photographing Art Museums. In an art museum I make sure to photograph something other than an art piece and never like a whole piece. I would never stand in front of a painting, take a picture, and turn it into a kaleidoscopic image. But you know part of a frame, a colorful bit of another observer’s dress, molding, handrails, bathroom tiles etc. My feet feature heavily in these images as I make sure to take pictures of my feet every place I visit. Mix it all up and turn it into kaleidoscope pictures.
Wonderful Mark‼️I love how you have the tools to get things done! Very creative & of course fun 🤩 I didn’t see you do the backs. Did I miss that? What with the extra bling on the sides of them jump them 100% more❣️🩵👻
I have been making paper cutting pictures, (Polish style) and I also have a rental space in an antique mall, I am purging my treasures aka years of collecting , keeps me busy and I love it !
Lovely idea Mark. You could also back them with adhesive velvet before drilling or attach a finding with Epoxy to enable hanging, rather than drilling the piece of wood.😊
💙💚🖤 Jewelry crafts, YES!!! Ok, so I am guilty of not being able to cut up my gelli prints. When I saw yours and how beautiful they turned out, I was like, nooooo, dont cut them up😱!!! But your end result was so worth it 😁
Marie! Cut them up and use them for everything OR make a color copy of your favorites and then you're safe!! Sometimes only part of a print is amazing or I screw up part of the print and only use the good stuff..
Hello Mark! We are exploring ways to use up puzzel pieces ! Your idea always help our creative side
That sounds fun! Turning a gel press piece into a puzzle would be wonderful!
Such a great idea for a beautiful artsy puzzle!
These are awesome love the bright colors You used
I'm all about bright colors with my Gel Press...Plus they pop under the resin and look even better when they have gloss coating.
This was a good video, THANKS for giving us the background information. Beautiful pieces.

Soooo pretty! Actually glad you showed cutting the wood by hand. Not everyone has those cool lasers yet. This is something we all can do! ❤❤❤

Every time you make a Gel Press project I go nuts for a week! TFS!
Me, too! It makes me happy!
I have it out all the time because it's so much fun to use. I get very messy, though!
Absolutely gorgeous. I love jewelry. Beautiful project.
Take care. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much Carla!! I mean, why let those beautiful prints just stack up, right? Even the parts of the not-so-great prints!

Mind blown! I must find the kaleidoscope software and experiment!

You can paint the back a solid color if you want OR add some paper and do the same thing.

I enjoyed the facts you shared. 🤔
Thanks for watching Phoebe! Hope you have a really nice day!
You're welcome.
you too, have a great day. 😊👍
Ooh! I want to try this!
It's pretty easy and you can find wood shapes that are already cut out OR use thick cardboard and coat everything in steps.
I hope you find me on Instagram at @TheMarkMontano

Ooh, I like the idea of velvet and adding another texture!
That would make them even prettier!
Lovely! I would wear all of them………🥰
That makes me super happy to hear!
Love it! I will give a try! Thanks 🙏
Have fun! I'd love to see what you make!
