I had a photo of you crossing the line, arms up, in my workspace for years, during some of the toughest times in my life. During some times when I really wasn't sure I was going to be OK. The photo was there to remind me that sometimes the most important thing in the whole world is to be the guy who stays on his feet.
Thanks to you, I have stayed on my feet. I don't think I will ever get a gold medal, but times aren't so dark any more either.

Winning because everyone ahead fell down is still winning. They took risks that didn't pay off, and gave you a chance at victory. You deserved that gold.

I’m sorry, but it was planned from the start of the race. That’s a strategy, you deserved it mate. Not to mention the hard knocks and hard work on the way there.

Yeh, you can't fall people for having a strategy that takes into consideration how other's may fail. In this case, they all failed but they planned to take advantage of whatever happened. That doesn't make you any less worthy of the gold.

You also dramatically increased the popularity of my favorite sport: short track speed skating. You made the phrase "Well, That's Short Track..." reverberate though the media. Sometimes, half of winning is just showing up. And a lot of the time, just showing up is danged-near heroic. Thanks, man. :)

Great video. Triumph over all the adversity’s in your career. My gosh 4 liters of blood lost, that’s as close to death as I think is possible. And for Australia to get there first gold medal for Bradbury’s dedication. Simply amazing and well deserved. Legend for eternity!

Congrats man. You put your self in position to compete with the worlds best. Those 4 others skaters may be slightly better then you ( which is pretty nuanced considering your all better then 99% of the world) but the fact you got there and gave yourself a shot to win was all you needed!
    Gold medal champion!

There is a strategy to win in all competive sports. Is not just about talent or skills. He game plan has a low rate of success and at its highest was landing him on 3rd place. He was skill enough to be in the finals, he prepared to be there, he followed his plan and executed. He won.

I like both the Olympics and the Paralympics. I think the 17 gold medals Australia won in Tokyo when Delta was trying to steal the show was more than just a little bit inspirational; it was amazing. (Forget Brisbane 2032). Tokyo was the best games ever! (Sydney has been knocked back into second place)

And the corollary to that is: All sports involve some degree of luck. The 2019 NBA finals saw Kevin Durant and Klay Thomspon both suffer season-ending injuries - and a 4-bounce last-second Kawhi shot saw Toronto win the championship. Likewise the 2021 NBA finals saw the 7 top teams lose their best players to injuries, handing Milwaukee the championship. The best player/team does not always win: never give up.
P.S. this race is still the funniest thing on the entire internet... when aliens visit, this should be the first thing we show them :)
