I was heading out that way for work one time and stopped by. Knocked on the door to ask when it was opened and the guy let me in and I had the place to myself. Lol
Those GMC Motorhomes are super cool. I have seen a couple on the road and they have always intrigued me. The styling is still relevant and must have been very futuristic when they first came out. The remodeled one you saw in the museum was awesome.
Wow! What a great place! I didn't even know this existed, but it's now on my list of places to visit! Serro Scotty's were made in Irwin, Pennsylvania, not far from where I grew up. Haven't seen one in years. Can't thank you guys enough for sharing your adventures!
Cool guys. I have wanted to see this place for years and this last summer we finally got to go. Its definitely worth the visit and the donation. Thank you for putting this out there. I don't have a movie camera so I'm sure I'll be back to view this again and again. Beautiful job.
Look up the GM motor homes on RUclips. You will be amazed how far ahead of there time they were and how many are still on the road. Great video thank you for bringing us along.
Adam, FUN FACT: My Wife and I, lived in a Shasta Travel Trailer (Same as the one @ 13:15) for almost 2yrs after we were married. We were young and it was kinda fun. Ours didn't have the top bunk though.
Thanks for the tour, it brings back so many memories as a kid and all the camping we got to do in a 16’ terry trailer. It got kinda crowded with 4 kids. The GMC was a favorite, as you know it was the “urban assault vehicle “ in the movie Stripes. Thanks again, JB San Diego.
Growing up we had a family about half a mile from my house that had two ultra modern looking motor homes (this was in the 70's early 80s). They were white and "similar" to that "modern" GMC. The nose was longer though and more space age looking. Though the rest was similar. They were super cool looking and as I recall super pricey. They reminded me a bit of the vehicles used in "Damnation Alley". They had a big family (I think 8 kids) so they had 2 RV's to go camping with. WOW...
Y’all should visit the Barber Museum in Birmingham, AL. It is worth the stop. Loved the tour of the Elkhart Museum. All of those campers brought back good memories.
Being you guys are in Indiana and might have driven pretty close by. You should look into the Auburn Cord Duesenberg auction in Auburn Indiana over Labor Day. You might enjoy.
If you guys ever want to see the "old stuff" in action, you will have to make your way out to Burning Man in northern Nevada. All the old hippies bring all their old stuff out for a 4 day "festival" come on out!! LOL
🇳🇱Very beautiful too bad that this museum is so far away for me would have liked to see it in germany is also his museum van Erwin hymer great greetings from Roosendaal the Netherlands.👍👍👍👍👍👍💯🍀
@@AbomAdventures Most likely but cousin eddies is still roaming the roads and shows up at swapmeets and races. Now to find me a deal on a GMC... The Henry Ford museum has Lindbergs RV and the one used by Charles Kuralt for his On the Road series. Great museum that we try to go to every year. 2 day museum.
Really cool, We have a 1978 Itasca class A motorhome that we use a few times a year. it turns some heads some times. If you ever end up in Wa. State, I know some cool spots that aren't going to come up on the map... let me know.
You guys should have stopped in at Jayco and done a factory tour. I might have seen me build some front and back walls. That Shasta unit at the end of the video is probably brand new, they were building new units like that.
If you’re on the way out west again an want a place to park your rv we have a rv spot leveled out with a deck attached over looking MT Princeton and the collegiate peaks across the valley. Near FairPlay off 285
Nothing to do with the Museum but I think it would be cool if you had a cook off with Guga from Sous Vide Everything. I think you would love cooking with the flamethrower !!!
in the 20s to 4os per war people lost there frams and everything people just loaded up what they had went to diffrent states for better life thank you for this vidioe . after the war guys and gals been all over the world who wants to stay home every day after that war they wanted to travel

The 74 GMC is probably one of my favorite designs.
I enjoyed seeing these old beauties! I don't think I'd like to see a bear in the woods eather lol... Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for taking me along to places I would never otherwise get to visit. PS, I'm enjoying Abby's running commentary!

That style kind of reminds me of the Delorean, they just have a sort of timeless look to them no matter what year we're in.
That is exactly right.
Awesome, thanks for taking the time to share with us.

I realize this was a few months ago but, welcome to my hometown. Trailer industry capitol.

Winnebago and Airstreamwere the two rv's that were unmistakable when seen.
Great tour. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing. Thanks for showing.

Actually we have been there. Do a search on the channel and you’ll find the video of our visit. I’ve been twice myself 👍🏻
So cool
Great video guys 👏👏👏👏👍🇬🇧🥰

GMC = Clacrk transaxle driven with a 318 dodge very restorable high end coach. we had one 1969

Nice!! Too cool... :-)
Boy, if I had known you were in the area I would have hosted a meet and greet. I live in Edwardsburg MI about 10 miles from the MH hall of fame
You should watch "The Long, Long Trailer" (1954) with Lucille Ball. That movie motivated people to buy or build a trailer.
That is a great movie. Too funny.
During Prohibition Budweiser built RV's to keep company afloat....they have some at the Budweiser plant in St. Louis
Now that's a cool fact I never knew about!
Thanks again
Thx for sharing Adam. That was great. Love your videos. Keep them coming. Subscriber for both your channels. Crazy canuck
Great video thanks .
I bet that Tennesse traveler was built by a company that made interurban railcars as well. The body looks identical they just used different fittings.
That was awesome

What no Lonestar 1 or Cousin Eddies RV. I have always liked the GMC motor homes and would love to have one for a rebuild project.
I'm sure many of the Hollywood RV/s have been left out on the storage lots to weather away, much like they did with the Delorean time machines.

We're partners with Dutchmen so we'll be showing our factory tour at the Kodiak plant.
Welcome to Indiana
You too are the greatest if you come through Pueblo Colorado we would love to take you to lunch or dinner at our river walk.
Actually we drove through Pueblo last year as we were getting into Colorado Springs
@@AbomAdventures darn my bad luck.
The other Startrek RV is here in Sacramento, CA at the Auto Museum.
Fantastic museum! If you could choose just one to take home, which would it have been?
Definitely the black GMC!

Looks like a lot of the older ones were based out of, or at least resembled, railroad cars.
I believe the yellow one is front wheel drive
I live 2 miles from there !!
