hey Eddie just wondering where you get your screens, i was hoping to get just one to save some money and its not like i have this as my business, its just a hobby but everywhere i look it come in a six pack. just wondering if you would know where to only get one :)
This is the way every tutorial video should be! VERY detailed and informative, not boring and moves along smoothly, and has budget friendly options and recommendations! I wish all videos were like this!
20 Year screen printer here. Finally someone who explains it RIGHT! From your coating process, which took me a bit to learn on myself, is the best... to loading the shirts. Personally i like to slide the coater a little bit side to side when i get to the top of the screen to get that extra. One thing i never understood, is how some printers prefer to print while pushing the squeegee and some prefer to print while pulling. Personally i've always pulled and i double print, never flood the screen with textile ink. Reason for this, the ink stays on one side of the squeegee You can see at the 11:07 mark, the ink is pulled from the squeegee leaving a trail of ink on the logo. The screen is touching the shirt, once that lifts, that trail shape will leave lines and it will appear on the print. Black is not as noticeable, but other colors show well.
I'm a new automation engineer and it strikes me that there has to be a great way to automate some of these things. Thank you so much for this video. I am going to start researching how the automated systems work and design something fun.
I am a screen printer and this is the most accurate video I have seen out there. Everything you did is confirming what I do. Overtime my husband who is very handy made my job easier by building a light box and a dark box for drying screens. Question, have you ever worked with puff ink?
@@karmatulip553 I've been doing vinyl for several years now. For very simple designs it's great, doing "one-off" jobs is ideal, even doing several colors is certainly doable but where it becomes a problem is if you have a lot of fine detail or small lettering. The "weeding process" can be frustrating and very time consuming, especially if you have more than just a few shirts to do and you'll wish you hadn't taken on the project by the time you're done. For that reason I'm going to go the silk screen method. . .better for large numbers of shirts and better for holding details that get lost with vinyl, not to mention the ability to do multiple colors much quicker and easier.
Hey can you answer my question? You know when the design is burnt on the screen can you use that screen mutiple times to make t-shirt or do you have keep remaking screens 😮
I made my first (handmade) screen in my basement in 1979. Sprayed it out in the laundry room sink. The process hasn't changed much since then but your process is super refined, fast and accurate. The biggest leap forward I can see is the scoop coater. I bet the the patent holder of the scoop coater is RICH. That is one cool device but probably takes some time to learn. Really good video. Thanks!
