    Just for info and a heads up. I did things the old fashioned way 7 years for Christmas t-shirts. Bought a bunch of plain white t-shirts at walmart on sale, then bought iron on transfers and put them on the shirts. Then drew designs and added gem stone embellishments to outline them and added holiday type buttons that I hand sewn on. Sewed lace around the neck, bottom and arm areas. I played with dressing up the iron on I put on the shirt instead of just leaving it plain with the iron on. I love tie dying most everything. So I had fun dying them. Then sold them at the flea market for $50 per shirt in November of that year. Spent part of my summer that year doing this, but it was worth it and lots of fun. 200 t-shirts I bought in sizes large to 4x at Walmart's under garment sale in january of that year. The larger sizes sold quick. You can do many things to t-shirts. On mother's day last year I took 100 t-shirts and cut them, sewing in lace for panels and turned them into swing bottom tops with the same idea I did with the Christmas shirts, only with a mother theme. We sale other items at our stand. But those shirts sold out quick. I even took orders to make more with instructions I asked each customer how they wanted their shirt designed. Most people shrug and don't have a clue until you bring out your album of previous shirts you made. I'm a home sewer, so everything I make to sell I take a picture of it. Keep track of everything from what sold to the prices of how much things costs to make the garment. Learned this years ago from buying thrift store clothes, redoing them and selling them on eBay. Everyone loves a one of a kind outfit. Get ideas from Pinterest. It's where I learned to do panels on t-shirts. 🎉❤

    So I have started my shirt and cup business and have been doing it for 2 months now and have not made a single sale. I came across the idea just from watching different people but I just wanted to say that starting a business like this is so so so hard because so many people are doing it and you have to really know people and have a good following on socials. You have to make yourself stand out from all of the others. I knew it was hard but I didn’t realize how hard. I hope everybody has better luck then me on their small business journey!!❤❤

I appreciate you shinning your light and not hiding it! This has given me confidence that I could do this! It's a shame! I NEED to really get myself motivated and MOVE! I have 2 heat presses now! I was gifted a Cricut Explore 2 machine a couple years ago, I bought a Cricut heat press last year. I recently bought a 5-1Heat Press machine where I can make t-shirts, mugs/tumblers, plates, hats. I prayed for God to help me make extra income to supplement my Social Security and I'm literally not using it! I felt a strong conviction while I watched your video and inspired as well; so thank you! I want to create faith-based products. I LOVE the idea of the custom DTFs; it will save tons of time, not to mention printer ink! Thanks for making this video; it really as inspired me to start my T-shirt business. I'm a Procreate artist and have an Etsy shop; however, I considering leaving that platform...Blessing!

I was stressing about being able to afford all these equipment for years of periodically doing research, thinking I had to just be a do-it-all because most of the videos/blogs were doing it all themselves. I have a job that I still need so this would be super time saving and hopefully profitable without losing my primary source of income. Not to mention I can choose when to create and when to outsource.
    Thanks so much for this❤

      Just don't get discouraged when you aren't making $200 a day. Just like everything in sales, it takes time for the word to get out, and there are slow times as well. Remember these things as well: Just because you like something doesn't necessarily mean a lot of other people will. Look at trends and use that as a guide. Remember that just because you've purchased an image, doesn't mean you can use it on something you sell. You can buy some images with "commercial" rights and sell those. Make sure you aren't using trademarked/copywrite images such as any Disney, Marvel, and many, many more. Read up on the laws so you don't get sued by big corporations. Just FYIs to help you protect yourself as well as keep you from getting discouraged when you start out.

    This video is incredibly useful and informative. It provides a price breakdown and details about the equipment needed to start a T-shirt business. Thank you so much for taking the time to create this helpful resource for us.

    Even if you are quick, you need about 5 minutes per t-shirt, including packaging and labeling = 12 t-shirts per hour. And you still have to sell it. So let's assume 5-7 t-shirts per hour = $144 per hour - if everything goes well. The purchase of the equipment and electricity still have to be deducted. Of course you also have to pay taxes etc. So we assume §50-75 per hour. Thanks for the interesting video.

    Hi! I loved the breakdown of everything that goes into a business like this! It’s really helpful😊 I am toying with the idea to make my own tshirt designs but not sure if I can financially pull it off at this time. 😂
    One question I had, (and apologies if I missed this if you already touched on it) does the gang roll get shipped to you as an actual roll, or does the company slice each design and send it flat?

    • @HelmetVanga
      @HelmetVanga Год назад +2

      I have the same question. Supacolor sent me samples but no explanation. I think one large design for shirt is on sheet. And small designs as many it can fit on a sheet, that is what they seem to call gang sheet/roll.

    Great video! 😊 Do you make your own designs or buy them? How do you really know how big the designs are when you put them on a gang roll? I did see that there were rulers on the side when you were placing your design on them but are the rulers accurate? Also do you size down your designs depending on what size shirt you put them on? For example do you put an 8 inch design on a small shirt vs. a 10 inch design on Large.

      Thank you! I make some and buy some usually. The website tells you the size as you’re sizing up and down! I would choose the standard adult size transfer which is usually 10-10.5” wide. It will work well for mostly all adult sizes. You could of course size up and down as you wish!

      That is profit of making each shirt using the cost strategy I used. Of course a few other things will go into that (like time it takes to ship, listing the item, etc. ) but that’s the cost after your materials and the time creating one shirt! 😊

    God has had it on my heart since last year to start a faith based t-shirt business, I finally have the funds to start it up and I've pondered and prayed for ages on it, unsure as to what I should do... Today I was looking through google and tiktok to see costs and the actual how to- and I was questioning myself, doubting myself and questioning God. Then I opened youtube and searched "how to start making t-shirts heat press" and your video came up so i clicked on it and as I was watching, you showed the shirt you were wearing that says, "He makes all things new". God is truly amazing and thank you for your unashamed faith. This video has pushed my heart to start this, for Him and for His glory. God bless your heart ♥
    Also, can I ask what app/website you use to make your designs? I think they're really cool!

    Thank you Sallie, I have thought about it as one of the tings to sell and appreciate your informative video and experience. I have one thing, you based your cost on buying t-shirts if you have an tax number but you didn't filter in the cost of getting a tax number. I know that the cost varies from state to state but might be something to add to the cost of creating a small business. I think with the cost of buy graphics and getting a tax number it might go over the 1000k. Some graphics can be costly and I know in my state a tax number is around 300.00. But that is a cost that will pay for itself very quickly. I would also like to mention that if you have a tax number you need to remember to save taxes for each sell so you are not surprised at the end of year owing taxes if you show you made a certain amount of money. Love your video because you made it seem so easy to get started and without having to by the more expensive DTF printer equipment which i know is very costly. This is a great work around on what you need to just get started.
