Damn bro. You picked the most reliable car to crap on.
Some people would rather have luxurious pieces of junk that are expensive to repair and maintain
BMW are money pits, gaskets leak before 100,000 all the time.
Really? Do you own one or are you just doing a review on it ? I’ve had Mercedes , BMW , Audi and have owned 11 Toyotas ( Tacoma, Tundra , Sequoia, RAV-4 ) . 250,000 miles get another one . I hade a Tacoma 450,000 with no problems. They aren’t the most technologically advanced vehicles but they are the most reliable hands down .
He clearly doesn't care about its reliability because it's an awesome car..he can have his overpriced Audi or Mercedes
Exactly. I have this car and I love it wtf 😂❤
This has to be the oddest review for one of the most reliable manufacturers and cars on the road anywhere in the world. They are damn near bulletproof.
Ok Scotty
I own one and a Lexus reliability
It comes from a brown dude possibly middle eastern where they only love European cars.
Yes, especially the Toyota Tacoma which is built to last 300,000 miles in a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY!
Fact
Well this guy cares about luxury over reliability. Audi, BMW, Mercedes have poor reliability records & super expensive repair bills beyond 8OK miles.
Go Lexus, Acura or Mazda for longevity & reliability.
Please someone suggest him 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 luxury car brand that cost more and less reliable
Scotty killmer: Audi, BMW, Mercedes.. endless money pit💸💸💸💸😅
Exactly..I own a Toyota highlander and I will say I'm extremely impressed with its gas mileage and capabilities..it's a very dependable car..
@@jason-hu9fe what year & trim ...? I have the original year
Those German manufacturers fill the engine bay with weak plastic crap that won't last past 8Ok miles
Highlanders are actually one of the best and most reliable/ low maintenance costs vehicles on the road today!!
Valve cover leaks
I bought a 2023 xle and the transmission is getting worse, gears start slow and then they rev high 1 sec later, this is what 1st and 2nd gear does. When you step on it, it doesn't wanna go and then 2 seconds later all of a sudden picks up and go but by then it'd to late . It's already listed

It is obvious that you were run over by a Highlander and suffered some serious brain damage. I have put 40000 miles on my 2019 and I love the car. Totally reliable, reasonable sticker price and great resale value.

I have a 2018 Highlander. I live in Florida and Ive taken it to California, Wyaoming, Nebraska, NY several times. It has about 130k miles and still runs really well. Never had a problem. Ive had bmw and mercedes. They are beautiful cars but spent most of the time in the shop.
Reliability over luxury 😌
All day, every day, Rafael!
Or you can get both in a lexus.
Driving it for 1 year and have made over 40k km so far. Best car I have ever had, including Audis, Volkswagen, etc.
I also have one, had the dash rattles looked at three times still no better, engine is very noisy. My wife drives it and loves it. Does your dash rattle?
@@jessdarlington1007 Nope mine is silent.
@@jessdarlington1007 NO, what year is your Highlander?
I own a 2021 Toyota Highlander. I took a road trip from NY to Tampa with high confidence in the vehicle. This car has saved me numerous times from accidents while backing out of parking spaces and when driving close to the car in front, thanks to its self-braking system. In general, I have a lot of trust while driving this car.
I have a 2016 and it's an exceptionally great car. This is one of the dumbest videos I've seen on RUclips.
Bro tried to crap on the Highlander and just made it look even better 😂 I’ve had my ‘18 Highlander for 3 years and it’s been the best car I’ve ever owned
Have a 2016 - best road car I've ever owned. Something is wrong with the guy.

I've got 3 in the drive. Great vehicles.
@@Dan-oz4qb Agree with you. I have one in the drive and thinking about replacing the Subaru Outback with a second Highlander. This is the dumbest car video I've ever seen!
I own 3 Toyotas of different body types and a high end Porsche too. There’s no comparison in terms of reliability, maintenance cost and value of a Toyota. You need to ascertain why and what your priorities are in seeking in a car. German cars feel and drive impressively but you better have a good income to afford maintenance and upkeep. But if brand and name is important to you, then you have different priorities and reasons why a Highlander is not for you.
👆 Nailed it, thank you.
agreed.
WELL DONE ❤
not discounting the fact that all of the companies this dude mentiones are NOT RELIABLE period.
I have 3 as well most Reliable Vehicles out there ,, especially those built in Japan
I have a 2006 highlander currently. 218,000 miles and still drives nice. My family has a 2014 highlander with 140k miles. I’ve been considering on getting a highlander around 2014-2019 because of how reliable both have been.
Yea but back then they had the v6.. this time is a 2.4 turbo
Its still a v6 lol you funny i just got a 2019 highlander limited fwd its so smooth and comfortable i love it
I’ve got a 2008 highlander with 431k miles as of 09/2023. V6. No problems, regular maintenance
How do u service your cars??? Dealer???
@minisurfbanana if its basic maintenance just at home. Others type of maintenance your local mechanic no need for the dealer ever unless your mechanic really can't fix it
BMW, Audi, Mercedes = Money Pit
Scotty Kilmer
Quit RUclips bro
😂😂😂incredible, what a comparison 🤣🤣 those are money hungry vehicles. I recently bought a Highlander Hybrid because it was well recommended and never gives trouble.
He’s 100% right. They’re just not well made, compared to Japanese cars
Bro.. you missed an adjective.. "endless" money pit 🤣
It’s funny because I own a Toyota Highlander and I work for one the German manufacturers you mentioned. I would never compare the two. The Asian brands will almost always hold their value better due to their reliability. The cost of ownership of the German brands is insane. I do love the performance of the Germans but for something that gets me from A to B safely and reliably every day, I can deal without the luxury. Also, you would have to spend at minimum another $20k to get into a theee row German SUV.
I go for reliability and that only can be found in a Toyota.
Reliability give you peace 💯
What about hondas?
@@DonJulio510 good cars but Honda makes bad transmissions
Exactly. BMW’s or Mercedes have higher maintenance and so expensive specially in the US. I will take a Toyota or Lexus any day
I had Hondas and I love it also but now that I'm driving a Highlander, I found that Honda cost me more to keep.
I own that very same Toyota Highlander in blueprint I definitely recommend this vehicle I'm very happy with my purchase.
I have the same car and say the same
I have a 2023 Toyota Highlander Limited AWD.....I don't regret purchasing it.....gas saver, JBL speakers, etc......been having my Pearl (vehicle) since last December 😀 running great still no issues what so ever....plus it's a great car for a big family and pets 😀
Same thing here

Agree I just got mine yesterday and I love it so nice I have the color red 2023 toyota Highlander
Good choice. I bought mine used 3 years old and now 7 years later still running great. Just regular maintenance all I need. I think it's a good investment for me.
Can you sell the car to me or can you gifts it to me
What German 3-row SUV can you buy for Highlander money?
Benz GLS: starting $81k
BMW x7: starting $78k
Audi q7: starting $60k
Seriously this guys confused on auto prices.
& I love the fact that the highlander has mechanical fold downs
X7 electric 3rd row is flawed
I would choose reliability over anything else. Don't want to lose my sleep over garage visits
Yes 100% agree. Had to take my Porsche to the garage so many times.
I drive a 2021, great car! No problems so far and I have put a lot of miles on it. My previous one was a 2018, same thing.
Reliability & peace of mind is King
I'm on my 3rd highlander and I have to say they are one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. They only one I like better is my Sequoia but just because of the extra room. All are very reliable.
Same here and I've owned three of them also.
Respectfully I disagree with you. There are many videos that say the Toyota Highlander is a great vehicle and one video said (the guy reviewing it) that in his opinion the Toyota Highlander is the best used car to buy. They are very well built and reliable vehicles. The reason the new ones are so expensive is because they are great vehicles. ruclips.net/video/DBSo1WriVQE/видео.html
I'm buying one of these in the next few days and this video had me nervous, until I read the comments.
Yeah. He must be joking.. Hands down Highlanders are better and more reliable. I watch channels of great Mechanics. Scotty, Car carenut, Car Wizzard, Toyota Maintenace. All praise Toyota reliability. I that said, that is all I will ever buy. Right now we have 5.
Yes, go ahead bro. A Toyota will never let you down.
I love mine I just purchased a 22
Damn, I just bought a 23 Highlander because of this video

He didn't actually mention a valid point whatsoever. 😢😅 reliability over luxury I would say. Besides even the highlander being expensive they are more accessible than the brands he mentioned 😊
Don’t need to hit the button to unlock the door (button on the door handle is mainly to unlock; it has a sensor behind the handle so just pull on the door handle when you’re near it (detects the key fob when you’re in range)
Right. As soon as I get close to my car I can hear beeping sound of door unlocked without needing to get my key from my purse or pocket. You do have to unlock passenger doors though probably for safety reason which is a plus.
Own a 2016 and I can agree with you on back seat room. Now the door handle only seems to have those issues if if it was locked in the last few mins. The value of highlander needs to be a plus If you are buying a vehicle and it holds it's value that is a good thing.
Time for a reality check. I own a 2021 Highlander Platinum trim and it is a great car to have. Your complaints are somewhat misguided. 1st - I disagree with your statement about the price. Yes it is a high price car but the car retains the value for WAY longer than ANY luxury car does. Do you homework cause I think you don’t know this. So if I lease this vehicle the price of this vehicle will depreciate very little compare to most luxury vehicles. I agree with the app and the 3rd row being the biggest draw back but most luxury companies don’t even have these features for free either - you have to pay either way. At the current rate of interest rates there are very little cars that are a good idea to lease. 2 years ago there were good options right now I would not buy or lease any car even if its a Toyota that will hardly depreciate and that’s where you will need to correct because Toyotas don’t die but your luxury cars do.
I have 2008 Highlander Sport with 325k and still drives the same as when I bought it 12 years ago. AC replacement has been the only major issue. Best car I've ever owned..👍
14 year highlander owner and I am positive I will have another 10 years easy with this vehicle. Reliable and would buy again.NEVER had an issue.
I have a Highlander Limited All Wheel Drive Platinum Edition. Best vehicle I have ever had. I'm thinking of getting the hybrid in a few years.
What year is it, I have the 2016 limited but I think it is also the Platinum. It has the panoramic sunroof and I think you can only get that on the Platinum is that true?
Do it. I have a 23 Highlander Limited hybrid. It's gets 37 mpg in stop and go traffic. Awesome machine.
why you should never watch such videos 😁
This guy is clueless. The Highlander has one of best depreciation rates of all cars! It has stellar reliability. And the cost of maintenance is very low compared to the cars he is comparing it to,
I have a 2012 Highlander, bought it 4 years ago..... NEVER had a problem. Those luxury brands are known for giving multiple problems.
My dad got Toyota Highlander year model 2000 I was still a kid when he bought it. Now it’s 2023 his Highlander is still running good like new and no major problem.
no need to press the button to unlock. you can just put your hand through the handle and it will unlock automatically. has a sensor.
Guess no one explained how a smart entry actually works. The lines on top of the handle lock the car... To open just stick your hand in the handle and open. As far as the European counterparts he mentioned check that resale in 3-5 years. Good luck with that. Good luck once you get over 100k
I think you are wrong about the lease payments. Yes, for the similar amount of money for a really good spec Highlander you can get a new GLC or X3 or Q5 - however BMW and Audi are pretty bad in terms of reliability and engine issues. MB is still holding good in this but the lease payments are a lot more than Highlander. I am Mercedes guy, I was only driving MBs for a very long time, after we moved to Canada we got a brand new Toyota Rav4, before that we used to have W177 A Class which was really nice car. Toyota kease payments are not too bad and I think looking at the lease payments from premium brands are pretty high and when you want to own the car you will pay a lot more at the end of the lease than you would just finance it. The more the expensive the car is the more money you will throw at the end to own it. If you want to own the more premium czr from brand new the better option is to finance, lease is only as good as you will switch the cars after few years.
What BMW Audi or Mercedes can you buy for the price of the Highlander with all the features the Highlander has? Love our platinum and getting 30mpg also with a V6.
U have a hybrid?
I bought a 2021 Toyota Highlander but the problem I am having is that it turns off every hour. I would like to know if through the application it can be deconfigured so that it does not turn off every hour. I was at the Toyota mechanic service and They don't know how to deactivate it and the only thing they told me is that the car comes like this from the factory. I would like to know if there is any way to deactivate it through the phone application, please answer me since that question is important to be able to solve the problem. Thank you.
We have a 2015 XLE that has had zero major mechanical issues. There was a minor squeak of the driver side window the last inch or so going up that finally resolved itself over time. The vehicle has 78,000 miles and other than the lousy OEM tires that had to be replaced at 36,000 miles, no mechanical problems. Brakes are original and show about 50% left. Regular oil & filter changes at approximately 5,000 miles and tire rotation and balance at the same interval. That's it!
Do yourself a favor and service all the differentials with new fluids and put some ceramic brakes on that bad boy, no more dirty rims and your rotors wont be warped by your next brake job

My 2019 highlander is great car to me i had it for one year so far no issue
runs great , very reliable so far and i have 2009 nissan Maxima that have brought it Demo new in 2009
going on its 14 year it has 146,369 miles on it and still runs great
I was told about the timing seal leaking oil which can cost 3 to 4 thousand to repair..
Do the new 2021 to 2024 have this issue as well? I know the 2014 to 2019 motors have this problem.
The Highlander is one of the best and most reliable vehicles out there. Go to the competitor and pay $20k more for 2” of leg room at the back. Also maintenance cost on bmw, Mercedes etc is enormous and vehicle reliability is not there.
Drove the first one for 300,000 miles and the second one (which was totaled) for 125,000 miles. One of the most reliable cars I've ever had. I've had German cars. No thanks.
We've had a Highlander Limited since 2014 (180,000+ miles) and we're just about to pass it down to my daughter and her husband and get a NEW Highlander. This car has been amazing, is still in perfect working order from stem to stern. It's luxurious, comfortable and a perfect "young" (third row seats are child proportioned) family vehicle. We're excited about getting the new 2024 Highlander Hybrid and would recommend it to anyone in the market. With this car, you definitely get what you pay for.
What do you think is a more luxurious option for the same size, same practicality and same price as Highlander?
The problem with those nice Euro cars is the mechanic shops don't want you sitting in your car while it is getting worked on every other month.
I have had my Toyota Highlander for 20 years the other cars you named won't last that long without replacing the motor and tranmission!❤
I would rather pay $50-$60 oil change than pay $150 oil change.
Good to see that no actual faults were mentioned.
I would never buy an Audi or a mercedes... I have 4 highlanders now I have a 2021 Highlander XLE ... the most reliable car SUV you can possible own and the 2024 features are AMAZING
highlander doors open the first time every time. You just grab the handle, stop pushing the lock or unlock button. The third row is small but it’s for kids mostly. Lastly, it’s resale value is hugely better then others you mentioned. You can buy this and in a few years sell it and come out good, the others you can’t.
I’ve purchase three brand new Highlanders and it’s the best investment I’ve made. For the style reliability and comfort. The next step up would be a Lexus. Still choose my Highlander over the Lexus.
brought the last 2022 V6 Highlander XSE. I didnt notice the problem u showed. Only thing i didnt like is the 3rd row is too small compare to Honda pilot. But in the end I brought it for reliability. Im gona try to make this my car that will last until i retire. I know its in the $50k+ range but its worth it. Now to think about it, I kinda like 4runner but its MPG sucks.
I find it hard to believe that people are buying Highlanders because they actually want a fancy sports car. Anyone going out of their way for one of these isn't going to want a money pit just so they can look cooler.
One more comment about my Highlanders vs an Audi. I've owned 19 new cars over my lifetime and several used ones when I was young. None of my cars ever broke down and left me stranded until I purchased a brand new 2009 Audi A4. In the two years I owned it, I had to have it towed twice. Once I had it towed to a local garage from 80 miles away when it broke down. I'd never have another Audi.
BMW and Mercedes are starting to charge a subscription fee for things such as heated seats, heated steering wheels, more HP on certain Mercedes models. Apple CarPlay and android auto are free. Your beloved bmw and Mercedes charge a subscription fee for those too. But if comfort is your main concern, at least when your bmw and Mercedes breakdown, at least you’ll be comfortable when your sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.
I have a 2018.
The info center & map is terrible.
You are correct about the back seats.
I don't like the transmission shift points.
Other than that it is a good vehicle.

What did the dealership say about your remote unlock issue? But so far it seems that you are not a fan of mostly features. As far as payments, all new cars are very expensive to own or lease so choosing a Highlander is a very wise choice IMO despite your concerns.

I still have my 2008 Kluger, same vehicle as the Highlander just named different in Australia, and it still runs perfectly. Never had an issue ever.
I traded in my 2013 BMW 328i for a 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in 2021 due to several trips to the BMW dealer for service. Oxygen sensor ($1500) failed at less than 65k. it didn’t pass smog. I also had a 2006 Toyota Highlander V6 that I gave my sister with no issues other than the paint chipping off. Happy with my Toyota Highlander Hybrid now!
