I'm a 73 year young songwriter, experimenting my entire life with immersion sound. This is mind-blowingly wonderful. I will not be getting any sleep for a while😊 What a huge surprise! I guess we've got to thank Apple for pushing the envelope by insisting on atmos mixes... Don't own anything Apple but I sure want to give them a hug. Kudos to the Studio One cats also... They've kept me as a user and I'm excited beyond words
Finally! Studio One has just shaken the entire DAW industry. If anyone wants to work in soundtracks - you need this. And your options are very slim. Not anymore.
Modulators next please! I personally don't have any use for Atmos, but I love that Presonus is staying relevant, and doing it in a clean, logical and elegant way. I learned more about Atmos today than in any Cubase tutorial, purely because it is implemented in such a straightforward way... so yeah, modulators next please!
Great Video / Overview. I have a Question. You mentioned, to download 3D Impuls responses from Preens Account . I searched Studio one + and didn't find it. In Open Air 2 I don't´t have any Preset. Can you link a Download etc, where I can find them ?
Am actually downgrading my Studio One to 6.2 as I’m having too many problems with 6.5. I’m sure it’s all the Atmos and surround stuff added that is messing it up. 6.2 ran really well.
could you do a tutorial on exporting atmos mixdown for say Apple music etc and show which opinion to choose for mixdown and then which file is the .adm I get .wav files not sure which one is adm using S1 atmos demo song I believe it would be help to many the question was asked lst night in my meetup just before it ended. Lukas -- thank you so much for this! Your videos are always so helpful! (By the way, your mic on this video is so hyped/compressed. It's super loud and not very warm. Hard on the ears.)
It’s just loud in volume, when you turned it down it’s not bad at all, with the volume maxed the 3k area is definitely hard on the ears, otherwise still a great vids as always
Hi Lukas, excellent overview. But where to find further information for dealing with this complex new stuff? It is what I was hoping for and I cannot await to use it. But how? Best Dietrich
Hi Didi! Thanks you. Yes, it's indeed complex stuff, at least until you've got started. Joe Gilder has just released his launch video and I think it's really great to get an overview. Take a look: ruclips.net/video/GrXaLHFsX9Y/видео.html

very next level but didn't say nothing about stems but they are offering something the other daws are not . seems like they are headed in a cinema and sync licensing / movie direction versus just a beatmaking program
Presonus once again does not fail to make me feel pissed. I am a user of the Artist version and I downloaded 6.5 but nowhere I can find something about new things in this version.
So you get what you pay for then, which probably isn’t a lot. I pay for the full version and that’s still cheaper than many other DAWs and still more features too. Just shut up and upgrade.
@@promovideos75 I do not get what I paid for. I paid for a version and I expect that I get information what has changed and what has been fixed when there is an update.
NOTE: For ME ATMOS panners will NOT appear for any tracks routed to a FOLDER. If I want ATMOS panning a track NEEDS to be routed to the MAINS... I HOPE this is a BUG as most of us use folders to collapse things and managed screen real estate On the other hand, I personally find a lot of songs too cluttered these days and this might tend to limit excessive panning of everything. (trying to look at it positively although nested folders I LOVE to keep clutter/unused stuff hidden. Any thoughts welcome
That's not a bug, it's how Dolby Atmos works. Atmos objects need to go directly to the Atmos Renderer, otherwise the Renderer wouldn't have access to each single object which is necessary for the whole concept to work. By the way, you mean busses, not folders. You can't route a channel to a folder. However, busses can be Atmos objects, so you can use the Object Panner in the bus (as long the bus is mono/stereo and routed to the main).
I really hate the Atmos and surround additions, I had a play with them but in all honesty unless you’re doing foley for cinematic stuff it they’re of no use.
Now if they can only get the MPE right. Studio One 6.5 introduces a bug wherein the pitch once "glided" reverts back to the original pitch once the note is released. It would also be nice if the fifth dimension of MPE, lift, was recognized.
Hey, thanks for the comment! I have just compared with 6.2.1 and can't see any issues with MPE on my end. Have you re-checked with 6.2.1 that the behavior is different in 6.5?
Rechecked? No, but I know that the behavior did not exist (as I've used MPE in S1 quite a bit.) But hang tight: I will check it again tomorrow (it's been absurdly busy today and I'm getting ready to shut down for the day.)@@studioonetutorials
@@danlandis3006 Please recheck. In the last update, so many issues were reported as bugs which all turned out to be either user errors such as wrong settings or behaviors that were the same as in the versions before.
It appears that the update deinstalled 6.21, hence I can't recheck. It is unnecessary for me to do so anyway as I was using MPE without issue. The behavior I described is not the way MPE is supposed to behave, hence evenm if it was old behavior, it would still be a bug. I'm not sure what to further comment. It was right, now it's wrong. @@studioonetutorials
@@danlandis3006 Studio One updates never deinstall previous versions. Maybe you have overwritten the 6.2.1 version by installing into the same folder. In this case, it would be easy to reinstall it.
Dreading this moment. It's an industry led bandwagon and I'm not falling for it. Popular music works in stereo mono and nobody asked for anything else. Surround is for movies, end of.
I also feel like it’s gonna be a passing trend, but if you’re in the ONE good seat to listen to an atmos mix, it can be life changing. Probably 0.0003% of the population have a proper atmos setup at this point. AirPods are neat, and the atmos thing is interesting, but it’s not what atmos was intended for. Let’s just hope movie theaters stay open
@@youowemeapony But are you familiar with binaural? Dolby Atmos Binaural mixes are accessible to everyone using standard headphones. No speaker setup required.
@@studioonetutorials that’s why I mentioned AirPods. The pro models have “atmos” and it marketing hype. It like a room reverb with panning built in. Not super convincing, but an actual atmos surround setup with 7.1.4 will blow your mind if you’ve never properly heard surround. I’m happy to see multichannel content that is mixed by pros for discreet atmos setups, but can still translate into AirPod mixes. I still tend to prefer most music in stereo, but there’s not much heavy stuff mixed in surround
@@youowemeapony But AirPods is not necessarily Dolby Atmos Binaural. Atmos Binaural works. Not equally for everyone but I wasn't convinced either before I used an early development version of 6.5 and I was very surprised. It's not the same as surround via speakers - but it works and I have to admit that I'm personally pretty excited about it.
Well, all professional interfaces by PreSonus, Motu, RME, Steinberg, Behringer have at least 8 outputs and an ADAT port, so this shouldn't a problem. Or, if you like to have all the outputs built-in, what about the StudioLive 24R or RML32AI?

Incredible..

Does head-tracking work for the binural? It was added to the renderer nativley a while ago.
Also, does it support MP4 export for referencing the atmos mix? And can you set the outputs for the binural headphone?

What we are seeing is the muscle of Fenders acquisition next will be the Studio Live Mixers either be upgraded to support Atmos or a new product line.

where these IRs of Open Air2 are stored?

So can we still master the surround export in “stereo”
Yes, and it still sounds 3d. My mind is blown🎉
