    People talk nonsense about carbon ceramic brakes. Things like “my mates, mates dad had carbon ceramics and he says they’re only good for track, don’t work when they’re cold and squeak like hell”. When in reality they are bloody epic brakes with immense stopping power, no fade and no brake dust. That’s why they are found on all top sporting marques. The only real problem with carbon ceramic brakes is knowing the car following you too close, probably hasn’t got them!!

    You will love those blind spot monitors. You’ll wonder how you managed without it, especially with the coupe.

    interesting about the stone chips, my SLK had the same issue but since having the front panel resprayed three years ago have hardly any. Body shop suspect the water based factory paint is much softer than the aftermarket solvent based so may be worth getting it painted.

      I would have to agree. My car was vandalised (paint stripper) and was re-sprayed. 4 years later, hardly any stone chips. I recall the Sprayers saying I would know the difference - the clear coat they spec’ed was much tougher.

    Great content. I have a 16’ R. I was shopping for a 2018 but got sucked into the forums and people complaining about how bad the LED headlights are. Not sure if there’s anything to that, and honestly, the amount of time I spend driving it at night is relatively low. The HIDs are great. I also intentionally avoided the carbon ceramics but have been looking at 6 pot upgrades with light semi-floating rotors - and I would totally get the calipers painted yellow! Haha. Lastly, I agree with the blindspot monitor. Mine has it and it’s super helpful.
    Overall, I’m in love with the car. It sounds immense, looks and drives great, and turns heads wherever I go.

    Have everything you want, except carbon ceramics on my 2016 S. The AHBA I wouldn't miss, the blind spot monitor I'd struggle to live without. The car came with PPF on the nose of the car, and it goes up to just north of the headlights. I'm glad the whole thing isn't covered because I like to multi-stage detail my cars, but you're right, the noses of these things get slaughtered and I'm pleased it's on there. I'll definitely replace it when the time comes.

    PPF is a must to help protect paintwork on cars. I don't know why more manufacturers and dealerships don't offer it.
    I got the front 1/3 of my Sportbrake done & probably the best mod I have paid for on my car, yeah & most expensive but worth it.
    Interesting video as always 👍🏻.

    I'm glad i watched your videos before buying mine as it does have blindspot assist, but it took me 9 months to find it and i was getting close to giving up. I think there was a 6 month production window to get a car with the facelifted headlights and seats in the older shape, before they added all the filters which quietened them a fair bit. I also wanted the ICT pro 10" screen without having to retrofit.

    I have blind spot assist on my F-type but not on my F-Pace. Conversely I have AHBA on my F-Pace but not on my F-Type (although would be easy to add to my F-type as I have cameras). Both options are nice to have rather than essential in my view. I find the AHBA works very well. Visibility is fairly restricted in F-type so do think it makes sense in F-type but never really missed having it in the F-Pace. I also had full front end and side PPF fitted - glad I did having seen your stone chips!

    Still an awesome car, whatever the option package, amazing to drive, not a car to keep locked away in a garage, of course it will make 100k miles! Mine is a daily driver, I retrofitted cruise control/speed limiter (JR Refits - excellent service if you are in the UK!), which I use constantly so I can just focus on enjoying the drive rather than playing spot the speed camera! Good call on the brakes. Nearly 50k miles in five years, still generating smiles, and yes the odd stone chip but that’s life!

    GB, you could spend tens of thousands on the car and get very little of it back when selling. My advice would be to live with the cars as is, which is quite good. If these things really bother you keep looking for a car with the features you want, you'll come out ahead in the end.

    Great vid
    The high beam asist is wast of time , if you have a car ahead going the same way, say 100m, The stuiped camers dont always see it and you end up blinding the other driver. Have it in the company car. Disabled it after 1 week of driving,just did react all the time.
    As for CC breaks ,only realy need if you do track time, other than that over priced breaks,. For less money you can look at After market Big break kits 6 or 8 pot full floating roaters etc. They will look just as good if not better as some compaines offer the calipers in diffrent colours etc.

  • @kriskantu
    @kriskantu 10 месяцев назад +2

    The auto high beam is not worth it Mr GB. I would say its right 8/10. I disable it because it does get annoying having to overide it whenever it is wrong judging oncoming traffic and drivers beam back at you.

    Dude, get it touched up and PPFed at least on the front to keep it looking as good as you can? Car looks great. You can at least preserve things as they are. Your car is that nice that it’s probably worth it…My opinion…

    what would i do differently ? get a manual V6, best potential for high resale except for maybe the SVRs

    • @3ducs
      @3ducs 10 месяцев назад +1

      I bought a manual V6 this past May, like it a lot. It has all the options save CC brakes. I'd never driven one, they are almost never seen here in rural New Hampshire, USA. I found one with 29,000 miles on it in Denver, had it shipped. Triple black, it has great road presence. May not be the fastest, but on the two lane twisties I drive it is more than enough. Sounds great too.

      well lucky u don't have CC brakes... unless you like shelling 10k out for brakes @@3ducs

      @3ducs 10 месяцев назад

      @@Berley_1234 It's got the 15.5 inch rotors up front, monster brakes. I do like 6 piston aluminum calipers though, maybe at a later date.

    I know people with carbon brakes who completely regret getting them. They squeak and make your expensive car embarrassing to drive on the street and take a bit to warm up and be working good. In Canada a guy recently was looking to replace the carbon brakes on his f-type all around and got quoted 50k CND (forum). Just wow.

    I was very lucky to find exactly the car I wanted. The only feature it doesn’t have is the stolen vehicle tracking system. By the way, any suggestions for this?

      I don’t have it. I can see where my car is at any time through the in control app. It felt a bit pointless to me

    Enjoyed your video as a subscriber/ F Type owner. Do you not think carbon ceramic are over the top unless you do track days. If it was my decision ( too old to do track days ) I would keep what you have and paint the callipers the same bronze colour as the wing mirrors and bits of trim. I reckon that would look great and nobody would know what they are. The only item that made me uncomfortable in your vlog was your reference to the litter and how disgusting it is. I agree wholeheartedly , it is a criminal offence.
    Sadly though, so is your number plate. Many years ago my wife got stopped by the police for an incorrectly spaced number plate. New number plates , a visit to the police station and a fine ! A bit heavy but probably made worse because she called the copper a cretinous prick ! Stay safe and keep the vlogs going.
