As a Jaguar V6 F-Type owner too, always think the car is a heavy front end GT car which cannot go fast on corners, but seems u don't hv a lot of problem dealing with it. Very impressive drive and thank you for the video, always wanna know wt the car can do on track👍
Some great tires wake it up a lot, I put Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi slicks on mine and I'm yet to test it on the ring but on the street it turns in like crazy now. I used to be an understeery mess but now it's responsive!
If you can find one to drive, the early F-Type R model was 550hp and RWD. They only made it for about 1 year but it was a real fun car and less of a brute than the AWD R/SVR but with almost the same amount of power. I owned one for a couple years and loved it (when it wasn't broken). I also went through 3 sets of brakes in 20k miles.
They were super sketchy round the Ring though. They had the power to spin the wheels in 5th if you weren’t careful, and you absolutely have to have the Carbon Ceramics if you’re doing more than a lap. Fun, but not for anyone inexperienced!
@@ArosaMikeI drove the rwd V8 S-variant roadster with 495hp initially but that was remapped and with a different pulley so about 650hp. It was on 305mm 888r toyos - so no issues with traction. The oem p zeros were just awful, no grip whatsoever, so the first thing everyone needs to do is to change them
Yeah, V8 variants with Rwd are the ones to get if you want fun. The awd variants had not a good torque split management that caused nervous behaviour and sometimes unpredictable understeer in the corners especially when the car started sliding. So yeah, only rwd. V8 s-roadsters with 495hp were made in greater numbers for much longer since 2013 and with some mapping and pulley tuning can easily get up to 700hp.
Yeah I have some alpine road time in an early R and it was a nice package and not lacking in grunt either! The later AWD variant I sampled on a challenging circuit was numb by comparison, but certainly quicker out of the slower corners.
I have a 2017 F-Type V6S AWD. I've put 98k miles on mine and it's a great car and been issue free. The Base V6 model you drove in the video unfortunately does suffer from under damping. The S with it's adjustable shocks fixes that and it's a pretty big swing in damping when in Dynamic mode. The brakes are pretty bad though and does suffer from some serious fade, pretty quickly as well. The ceramics are really good on an F-Type. Great video mate
EBC Yellow Stuff are decent. A massive jump from OEM pads. Work best with disks that aren't over heating though so some slotted disks will give a massive improvement. @@alvinkcng1017 Edit, if you are doing ALOT of track driving get the EBC blue pads
What components did you proactively maintain or swap out to avoid any costly failure at 98k? I'm wondering what can be done in terms of predictive maintenance for the F-Type (other than the regular servicing of course).
@@onlycars8700replace the cooling system every 5 years, and all injectors. Then, don’t allow water ingress thru the bonnet louvres. This, aside from the regular maintenance schedules (with the occasional diff oil change) , will preserve it for many many miles.
Been wanting to get your impression on the F-Type, so was great to see this. I have the V6S with a Stage 3 tune (downpipes, pulleys, ECU tune) pushing over 475bhp, and even though it's not the fastest thing out there, it's an absolute pleasure to drive. Also genuinely impressed that you completed a lap with the OEM brakes, mine were done within one week of owning the car and I've since installed R1Concepts high-perf drilled & slotted rotors and pads - night and day difference.
I own an AWD version with upper and lower pulley goes 0-100 in 4.1s. Pretty fast car. I did rear muffler delete and the sound was georgus but i mount back oem muffler after 2 days. It was really loud I assume above 130db (stockish is 117). Can't wait to visit nurb and ask you for ride!
I really slept on the price of this car - looks still young after all those years. I mean the rear brake and tail lights look a little bit older but besides that it’s a beauty. Amazing lap Misha, love it when you can send the cars over the kerbs 🔥
Keeping in mind when the owner said 28k, he probably meant 28k GBP. So that's around 32.5k EUR for this base-model F-Type. But still great value for money!

Great value for £28k. Thats roughly a 997.1 911, which would be an older car, and of course there is always bore score knawing away at your conscience. Have a Boxster S myself, half the price but admittedly not the 'jaaagg' in terms of looks or indeed peoples perception of it, but pretty pleased with how it handled the ring - for £15k all said and done!
The sweet spot for one of these I think is the V6 S you get 380bhp instead of 335 in the Standard V6 you get respectable fuel economy and a cheaper purchase price and running costs than the equivalent V8 and its only very slightly slower. Also you actually get decent sized breaks and stiff suspension unlike this boat 😂
Regarding the welded exhaust - with the active exhuast, the actuators often go on them causing a really annoying rattle. Welding them open/shut is a quick way to get rid of the rattling - i'm guessing the last owner opted to weld them shut because they didn't want to deal with the noise all the time. I just had the same issue with mine, welded open for now but gives me a good excuse to get a new exhaust put in :)
