Tonya Harding didn't just go into Celebrity Boxing for the publicity, she needed the money it brought in at that point.
Yeah, some of these IMO don’t fall under “just for attention.” Sure, it brought back some publicity in her life but I’m pretty sure it was motivated by not having money and having been banned from the one sport you’re super talented at. She didn’t have much of an education so that makes it hard for certain public figures to just get a “regular job.”
Of all the things Kanye has done interrupting Taylor Swift is the least crazy, he really raised the bar on crazy.
I feel it's the most pathetic and made him the most enemies. Poor Taylor was so young & had no idea that a kick in his nuts would have earned her praise the world over.

The preview of a E! Channel reality show that featured Lochte showed how dimwitted he is.
Lochte never said he was a victim of armed robbery and if you look at the facts of what happened, the Brazilian government LIED on him several times, literally making up stuff to fit their narrative. THAT'S why the case was dropped. There was nothing to anything that happened. The "security guards" didn't have badges or anything to prove what they were and so, to Lochte and his friends, they were being honest when they thought they were being held at gun point. He actually didn't do anything wrong and was forced to apologize for it anyway, but his career was ruined all the same because people didn't take time to find out the FACTS about what happened. Unfortunately that's pretty typical. People want just sounds good, not what actually happened.

I remember when news of Jussie smollet’s attack occurred. I wanted to believe him but I was skeptical. That night was one of the coldest nights in Chicago history. Yet he went out to get a subway sandwich.
I knew it was fake. It was just a ridiculous story.
Everyone who was in Chicago including me felt there was something wrong about that story when he said he went out that night for subway and they were waiting for him outside on a night that had a frostbite warning essentially
I wanted to believe it as well. When I first heard the story I was like omg that’s horrible I can’t believe someone would do that to another person. Then to find out he lied about it just made me mad. Just for the fact that when someone really has something like this happen will people believe them or just saying they are lying. It’s just sad all around.

I am a former skating coach from that era. The Harding saga started much earlier when the IOC decided to stagger the quadrennial games cycle so that winter and summer games were held on alternating two years. So after 1992 Barcelona summer games and 1992 Albertville winter, there was a unique 1994 Lillehammer winter games just two years later. This put a lot of extra pressure on the 1993 hopefuls for various reasons which included the unprecedented grandfathering of professional skaters. The 93 US National team was IMO relatively weak, which led to a disastrous showing at the 1993 Worlds. This led to the US team getting only the standard two Ladies spots for the Olympic games, rather than the three for medaling at the qualifiers or for hosting.
This might be the extra competitiveness motive at the 1994 Olympic Trials/Nationals in Detroit.
Besides Kerrigan (victim) who also experienced some career consequences in the years after the attack, I wanted to mention that there were at least 2 other victims of Harding.
Michelle Kwan in 1994 was the 3rd place alternate for the US team and the minimum age limit had not yet been imposed so she could/would have debuted there. In other words, Harding had essentially taken Michelle Kwan's first Olympic experience from her.
Also, recall the skate lace incident at Lillehammer. Tonya Harding after a near delay adjusting her skate, started her skating program flustered on skating's biggest stage (the Ladies Free Skate on primetime tv). 30 seconds in she popped (did not complete) her first jump and skated to the judges table. She swung her leg up onto the railing, crying and showing a broken lace. This is a legitimate safety problem, but, skate lace breakage during competition is very rare and preparing for such a momentous event, one might think that checking ones critical equipment might be part of it. Anyway, the judges granted her a re-start like 10 minutes later allowing her time to change her skate lace. The thing is, because of this, the Canadian skater, Joseé Chouinard suddenly had to skate next like 5 minutes before expected. What happened next was painful to watch. Poor Joseé proceeded to have probably the worst performance of her life. On live tv she fell 6 times and was inconsoleable by the end of 4 and a half minutes. The arena was stunned. She is otherwise a very talented athlete and medal contender but crumbled under the intense pressure. It might have happened anyway (if Harding was not even there, or if her lace did not break, or if Joseé Chouinard skated at her appointed time and order) but I feel the disruption of the careful mental preparation was a factor.

This is for people who follow celebrities. I never cared about who they are beyond the screen that much. If they have a good movie, music or tv show, I will watch or listen to it. But beyond that, I didn't really knew these things happened unless the news filtered to me somehow.
This is often me as well. And not just for the controversial / political stuff. Mundane personal stuff too. I find out that celeb X was dating celeb Y and that they have a child named Z after that child has grown up and has been making a name as a celeb as well for at least a decade. (Fill in the blanks with any applicable names and I probably wasn't aware of their personal lives.)
