RDJ is an inspiration to young people. He hit bottom. Rock bottom. Drugs and alcohol addiction. In and out of prison. Bad marriage. Broke. And then he got clean, and climbed to the very top of his industry. NEVER GIVE UP! EVER!
However, it is a constant reputation to avoid temptation when you are an addict. I hope Marvel had insurance if RDJ fell off the wagon. I saw a show on Phillip Seymour Hoffman and he was a reformed drug addict and was clean for over twenty years, but succumbed to temptation, and it killed him. So RDJ will never be free from temptation for that lifestyle. Not a put down, just a reality.
People didn’t forget Martha Stewart: they forgave her. She served her time, she paid her fines and she stepped down from her posts. She ended up serving time in a “last choice” facility. She is an awesome person who does a lot of outreach today.
That and it was for something other celebrities, the wealthy, and politicians do ALL THE TIME without consequence. The fact that she basically had the book thrown at her was ridiculous in and of itself - much less for such a white collar offense - while some of the celebrities on this list seriously harmed or even killed people and just got a slap on the wrist.
She doesn’t need forgiveness how are you not allow to protect your own money “insider trading” really?? Just cause it’s the law never meant it was right…
Literally everyone on this list ended up not being affected by their misdeeds, but Winona Ryder getting cancelled for so long? Feels wrong on so many levels.

I think they mean the stuff and shenanigans that he got up to are the scandal.. not that he turned it around and actually managed to not just recover his career, but to elevate it further! It's so appropriate he's Iron Man.. he had an addiction issue he beat down, too..❤
I'm a little confused about Ben Affleck being so high on the list compared to other celebrities. Like, the dude didn't want some of his family history, albeit a very dark secret that he himself wasn't aware of until the episode was being made, revealed to the public while some of other people on this list have committed manslaughter.
He was high on that list because after knowing the truth rather than owing up to the fact like many other (Larry David, Anderson Cooper) he tried to hide it.
I thought the same thing. I don't think that he is one to honestly even probably be on the list. The sad truth is if you dig far back enough all Americans probably have a family member who participated in that era in some way or another. Be it even turning a blind eye. People who are NOT in the public eye don't want to even know that information, honestly. I would feel terrible hearing that from past relatives, let alone disclosing it on television.
I used to be a fan of Chris Brown, but stopped liking him after hearing about his brutal assault on Rihanna. I'm glad that she's doing better nowadays.
I'm actually surprised he still has a career despite the numerous charges and allegations of him being violent toward women. Yes, he's talented, but he needs to be held accountable. I remember that after he got arrested, almost every company dropped him and his appearance on Zack and Cody was blocked from airing on TV. I agree with you about Rihanna.
I honestly think Chris Brown should've been in jail alongside many of the other men who were getting accused of misconduct the moment the Me too movement started. That way, he would suffer the same fate as Harvey Weinstein did.
I remember hearing about Matthew Broderick's car crash, since I had relatives living near the area at the time, and they were appalled that he got away with merely a slap on the wrist.

It wasn't just Elton John that helped RDJ tho but it seems that Mel Gibson has also helped him get sober as well, even before he even made an epic comeback.
David O Russell also roared and abused Amy Adams while directing "American Hustle" until Christian Bale jumped to her defense and stood up to Russell, which caused Russell to back off.
# 20 (First one) The BIG reason Dansen was begrudgingly "forgiven" is b/c Goldberg came out in his defense, and explained the blackface and "jokes" were HER conception and she'd encouraged him to do it, thinking it would be funny.
@@dennisanderson3895 I think because she said it was okay, and was her idea for him to do it . I don't know why they thought this was a good idea. I read somewhere that they were having a relationship while his wife was in the hospital or something. not sure of the details.
@@rodscarbrough2337 Understood. To me, though, it highlights "outrage reaction" hypocrisy: It was "OK" after all b/c Whoppie came up with it. WHAT? Sorry, *I* need more than "she's Black" to explain why it was OK, y'know? Even with possible marriage scandal removed from the equation, its social algebra does NOT work out! *Was* it funny? Then laugh, doggone it! I remember how much comedy in the 60s and 70s involved racial differences it was actually a bridge. Reminds me of a frustration: There was a 1970 film, "Watermelon Man," starring Black actor/comedian Godfrey Cambridge: Plot - A White prejudiced family man [Cambridge, initially in excellent whiteface] has a troubling nightmare about civil rights protests/riots and wakes up as a Black man. Initially horrified, he decides he's the same him and tries to resume his normal life only to find the skin does matter somewhat. I saw it DECADES ago on a area TV's news/weather/sports/cartoons/movie block. I CANNOT find a copy to order online! It was a good and insightful, satirical film of social value yet. But I guarantee I cannot find it because of the title. (How's THAT for stupid?) BTW - If you stumble across a source for that film which is non-Amazon, please let me know. Nothing against Amazon: I rarely buy online, and after some years I was at a different place but Amazon's site would NOT let me update/change my address to the current - so I reckoned, "I guess Amazon doesn't want my money." We are *one* HUMAN race: can't we accept and chuckle about each others' differences, y'know?
I NEVER forgot Ted Danson in blackface because I regularly post on The View Channel and he was dating Whoopi Goldberg. I don’t think all were forgotten. Most people were forgiven or in retrospect weren’t such a big deal. Everyone of a certain age remembers Martha Stewart’s ordeal and its gained her huge respect after she bounced back. How many famous males went to prison for ‘insider trading’ of any magnitude? Except for Enron, NOBODY.
Yeah Martha went to jail for something that, while being against the law, is something a lot of people do. It's like bringing down Al Capone on tax charges
This makes you really think about how just letting things go can lead people to have full inspiring lives that people can look up to when there given a chance. All these people could've been punished at their lowest snd worst and the world would be entirely changed and different. It's a scary thought
Martha Stewart was a stock broker before she became the home & hospitality guru she’s known as today. Because of her background in finance, she damn well knew insider trading was illegal and the government decided to make an example out of her. As for the 5 month stint in prison, she was incarcerated at FCP Alderson, the most comfortable penitentiary in the United States.
People will forgive other people if they commit a crime that doesn’t hurt anyone… nobody gives a crap Martha Stewart went to jail. People love Robert Downey jr because he got sober and turned his life around. Going through bad things like that can actually make you better in the long run.
1. Nothing beats a girl with a beautiful singing voice. Except maybe Chris Brown. 2. Ben Affleck didn't own people. Why was that a big deal on him personally? 3. Celebrity's 500 hours community service -- Film a few PSAs speaking out against their crimes. Everyone else's 500 hours of community service -- "Hope you like planting trees in rocky soil in July, son."
An honorable mention is the late Zsa Zsa Gabor's arrest for slapping a Beverly Hills police officer, along with driving with an expired license and carrying an open container. She eventually pleaded no contest and the incident became a punchline everytime she made cameos on TV and movies.
Chris Brown scamming a whole sect was one of the forgotten issues he had in his career. Well, him being held up for the same incident was memorable for me.
It is incomprehensible that you left out Peter Yarrow (formerly of Peter Paul and Mary) 1970 Sexual assault conviction for doing something with a 14 year old girl he ought not to have been doing. He spent three months in jail for that transgression.
@@JonasMoore-b6v While I'm mostly a classical jazz type of guy (John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, et cetera), I still remember the night as a 7 year old kid watching The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. It's hard for me to give classic rock up completely for any reason.
The girl you’re talking about with Jimmie Page also “dated” Bowie and I think Jagger around the same time (there’s photos and she’s mentioned in 1 of their biographys) she was about 15 at the time. Remember reading an article on famous groupies that mention Mattix several times
Danson received negative press attention October 8, 1993, after his appearance wearing blackface at a Friars Club comedy roast in honor of Goldberg, and for using many racist slurs. Later Goldberg defended the sketch, explaining that she had helped write much of the material and referred Danson to the makeup artist who painted his face as a societal critique.
Worst for me was Michael Fassbender, I had no idea until recently but he allegedly abused his ex, horribly, there were so many allegations I can't remember them all but the standouts were him assaulting her in a hotel room and breaking her nose, and another where he allegedly grabbed her by her hair and dragged her down a flight of stairs. Whenever he's asked about the allegations he's really dismissive of them too, it's weird, and they've more or less been forgotten about. Had a lot of respect for the guy but I just can't look at him the same way, gives me the creeps.
Sorry to say but people who are friends with him and family and friends of that woman all have said she never dated him. She was beat up but never stated what really happened He brushes it off cause he never was with the person. His other relationships have all ended amicably and they all said he had outbursts where he hit a wall or yelled but never raised a hand to them.
Its gross how some of these celebs get away with things. They are still working and people still support them. IDGAF about cheating sh*t. Racism abuse possession of illegal stuff and other heinous things makes my blood boil. If ordinary people committed such acts they'd be sentenced to life.
It’s called acting. JK Simmons played a racist bigot natsi and Leo Dicaprio played a racist bigot slave master. Want to include them in the list as well? How about Ed Norton for playing a neo natsi? Context matters. Howard was doing a sketch, which is acting. Matter of fact, I’m with you, let’s all cancel Stern, Leo, and Simmons!! Let’s ban Django, American History X, and Oz. Only thing that should be shown on tv and movies is rainbows and unicorns! Context doesn’t matter!
Am I the only one who thinks that while cheating on your partner definitely sucks, it's a personal matter that should not really affect your career or that shouldn't even be a something that the public should know or care about? These are professional artists doing a job, not close relatives risking to change drastically our family life. To be clear, I'm obviously only talking about legal consenting relationships.
Some of these "scandals" are almost non-issues while some are serious crimes that should really have been addressed. I don't care if someone cheated on their spouse, but assaulting your niece, beating your partner, or fleeing a car crash should really lead to consequences.
,Nobody forgot about most of these. And saying we forgot about Chris Brown is a great example of gaslighting cuz NO ONE forgot. Its regularly talked abbout and often.
Don't forget that Morgan Freeman had a fling with his granddaughter. I don't think Halle meant to leave the scene, as she seemed to be violently concussed.
Wasn't Ben Affleck also called out for sexual harassment? I remember an episode of Steven Colbert where Colbert called him out on it and he was super uncomfortable and tried making excuses.
Not to defend Ted Danson's roast back then, but I do remember that it was a joint effort between Goldberg and Danson. The Associated Press reported this in a 1993 article, "Goldberg said she herself had written much of the material for Danson and even found him the makeup artist who applied the blackface." Furthermore, according to the article, "the Friars Club is known for ribald roasts and jokes focus on sex, gender, bodily functions, religion and race." I don't think his bit was tasteful and it was definitely offensive, but that was the point.
Not being an insider herself, Martha Stewart could not have been convicted of insider trading. What she was convicted of was lying to the FBI. Had her attorney advised her wisely and she not spoken to the FBI, she would not have been charged or convicted of anything.
@@thereserystedt3883Jenner's accident sounded more like her car was pushed into the car that killed the woman. An accident. Broderick's accident was due to his own negligence, yet it is brushed over.
Why is the public entitled to know when a celebrity cheats on their partner? And why should these celebrities also make public statements regarding it? We, as the public, always act like we are squeaky clean and we NEVER do bad things. But hold these people responsible for every mistake. They are just here to entertain our lives and make us forget about our serious problems. As long as they don’t do crimes, we should not care.
Bruno Mars didn't hurt anyone, and became a better person after his experience. His music may not catch my attention, but him being a decent human makes me like the guy.
Reading this in 2024 and seeing Ashton Kutcher giving a speech about having character after his friendships with violent sexual abusers is the ultimate hypocritical irony.
I just had a glass shatter with RDJ. I know he's been around Hollywood for years before, but I became a fan after his role in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, the movie before Iron Man. Is crazy how time has made him one of the highest paid artist since that one movie I saw of his before the first Iron Man.

I believe it was Sir Elton John who helped RDJ recover. Elton himself was a recovering drug addict.
I wouldn't be surprised. Elton John has helped a lot of celebrities get sober, it seems ❤
It wasn't just Elton John that helped RDJ tho but it seems that Mel Gibson has also helped him get sober as well, even before he even made an epic comeback.

Infidelity not a legit reason for a person to be "cancelled"
If it were, 76% of people would be canceled. It's not nice, but it's common.
What Martha Stewart did half of the senate and congress do but none of them are doing in jail 🙄 🤔 😳 😒
South Park did it best "Buckle up. Buckaroo!" Followed by Kaitlyn running over people.
# 20 (First one) The BIG reason Dansen was begrudgingly "forgiven" is b/c Goldberg came out in his defense, and explained the blackface and "jokes" were HER conception and she'd encouraged him to do it, thinking it would be funny.
Seems odd though that it's "OK b/c she's black" works. I mean, was it "bad" or not?
So the answer is one
Martha Stewart is pretty much the only high profile female to go to prison. All the rest are dudes . So its the opposite.
@@davidwright8450you need to improve your reading skills
the blackface was great......good on you Ted......stick it to the woke crybabies
Yeah Martha went to jail for something that, while being against the law, is something a lot of people do. It's like bringing down Al Capone on tax charges
To say that everything between his niece and him was concentual ??? Its a burial to his case. Horrible😢

2. Ben Affleck didn't own people. Why was that a big deal on him personally?

An honorable mention is the late Zsa Zsa Gabor's arrest for slapping a Beverly Hills police officer, along with driving with an expired license and carrying an open container. She eventually pleaded no contest and the incident became a punchline everytime she made cameos on TV and movies.
Yeah, i remember ALF joking about it, lol. It was fresh & in the news then.
Chris Brown scamming a whole sect was one of the forgotten issues he had in his career.
Well, him being held up for the same incident was memorable for me.
Mariah’s 2001 breakdown and Brandys 2004 car crash could’ve made the list

Moral of the story. Fame has a big impact when you face the American judicial system.
I was looking for a comment like yours before saying the same thing, myself.
Damn!! Why isn't this talked about more???
The Ted Danson scandal was very shocking and very offensive.but Reese Witherspoon's arrest tops them all.
Top 20 Scandals that Everyone Forgot--Except for Watchmojo, who then Reminded Everyone
She was beat up but never stated what really happened
He brushes it off cause he never was with the person. His other relationships have all ended amicably and they all said he had outbursts where he hit a wall or yelled but never raised a hand to them.
It's absolutly disgusting that Chris Brown still has a carrer.
Most laws only apply to us ‘little people.’ Different rules apply when you’re wealthy and/or connected.
I couldn't care less about a celeb's fidelity. For that to cause a scandal says far more about how pathetic the public is than anything else.
Its gross how some of these celebs get away with things. They are still working and people still support them. IDGAF about cheating sh*t. Racism abuse possession of illegal stuff and other heinous things makes my blood boil. If ordinary people committed such acts they'd be sentenced to life.
I'm sure their spouses mind the cheating.
Are you guys SERIOUS? Where’s Howard Stern in Blackface ?!
or his many gross interviews?
Or Trudeau. He used to do it every weekend. Not to mention Eddie Murphys white and jew face
@@mrpants5462No he didn't.
"its been a long time since theres been a celebrity scandle, its kinda nice..."
Watchmojo : "Hold my beer"
Consensual?!! With his niece!!!! Wtf?!!
Some of these "scandals" are almost non-issues while some are serious crimes that should really have been addressed. I don't care if someone cheated on their spouse, but assaulting your niece, beating your partner, or fleeing a car crash should really lead to consequences.

Not to defend Ted Danson's roast back then, but I do remember that it was a joint effort between Goldberg and Danson. The Associated Press reported this in a 1993 article, "Goldberg said she herself had written much of the material for Danson and even found him the makeup artist who applied the blackface." Furthermore, according to the article, "the Friars Club is known for ribald roasts and jokes focus on sex, gender, bodily functions, religion and race."
I don't think his bit was tasteful and it was definitely offensive, but that was the point.
Not being an insider herself, Martha Stewart could not have been convicted of insider trading. What she was convicted of was lying to the FBI. Had her attorney advised her wisely and she not spoken to the FBI, she would not have been charged or convicted of anything.
I am not surprised about Paul’s possession. After all, The Beatles were known for taking the stuff which inspired their music.
All this list shows is that celebrities hold no accountability for their wrong doings…
