    • @Wil_Dsense
      @Wil_Dsense 2 месяца назад +7

      @@IamJustTheBiscuityOfTheSeaity yeah, that’s because WARP or the marketing team probably made them add titles instead of just Untitled 1, 2 etc, they were already called those track names on digits platforms etc so it would make sense to reference the track title if he use some of the audio stems from it to make an alternate version (in this case ‘Rhubarb’). But yes, it’s clear that a Radiator is in the image of track #2, but track is not actually called that.

    Actually this is the only album I know in existence that can give me a panic attack or deep existential dread and depression. It's so dreadful, hopeless, dark.... I never really understood when people said that it calms them down, that it's beautiful, that it evokes almost heavenly emotions.. for sure there are some tracks on this album where you're taken aback by how beautiful and uplifting they sound, but most of the running time on this album is taken up by some really vivid landscapes of terror. I can hear a purgatory, a liminal space, an existential dread, an overwhelming loneliness, a loss of track of time, a hellish limbo, a dark place, an eternal pain.... this album is terrifying and sometimes I just don't know if I want it to exist. But here we are 30 years later and it's completely and deservedly considered a classic.

      if you resonate with the void a certain way, then a certain way you'll feel. i believe there's a thing behind our minds that brings us life and consciousness that isn't sad or happy, it's as deep as you can imagine it for it is the concept of depth itself. if you embrace your bottomless realizations as only natural, this album is like a soundtrack to a process of self discovery. it also helps me to sleep :)

    This was the first CD I ever bought. To think it has been 30 years is insane. I saw him live in 96. He lounged on an old couch while the Donkey Rhubarb bears danced around and a naked guy threw water on the crowd. Incredible night.

    Ah this is great - thanks Richard. Reminds me of a house party I had at my late mother’s house when she was away. I was 14. There were around 20 of us. And we got massively stoned on brown laced weed. That was when I first heard this record (the year it came out). I also got off with sally allen just after she had snogged David mccalister. It was a magical night.

    have been listening to this album for over two decades now. discovered it probably around 2000 maybe a bit before (would have been 13 in 2000) - def found the album difficult at first. now just floored by the beauty and simplicity of these pieces of music as well as the diverse range of emotions and moods captured here. a strange and wonderful journey. still as enchanting as it felt when i first encountered it which is a rare gift.

    É bom saber que esse álbum (que foi bem criticado na época do lançamento e comparado ao SAW 85-92) também ganhou tratamento especial pelas mãos do RDJ, se tornou um dentre muitos clássicos da discografia dele. Minha música favorita do Aphex Twin vem justamente desse álbum, e a segunda sendo do Orphans, que ele nunca chegou a lançar oficialmente em nenhuma plataforma, mas mesmo assim amo.

    Hard for me to even verbalize how impactful this album was/is on me, and other types of introspective amibent music like it. The early 2000's were when I finally came around to ambient music, and it has profoundly changed my life. Aphex Twin created some of my absolute favorite tracks, along with Stars of the Lid, Loscil, Eno, Budd etc.

    Pre-ordered this the day before it came out, listened to it on my turntable the day after and its now without a doubt, my OFFICIAL favourite album from your entire discography. Feels surreal to finally listen to Stone in Focus on vinyl too which is a bonus. Although yes, I already got the OG SAW2 on CD but this one feels complete to me for some reason.
    Even hearing the eerie ones like for e.g: #4 (Hankle), #7 (Curtains), #10 (Tree) and #22 (Spots) with a slight Vibrato effects makes the experience fitting along with Rhubarb and Lichen sounding more nostalgic than they were on the original version. Absolutely perfect in my opinion.
    Also want to put this here since I grew up listening to your stuff: Found you back in 2013 where I watched the Rubber Johnny and Come to Daddy music videos and started listening to your music when I found Analord back in 2017. Almost 24 years old and have now collected most of your albums from Smojphace, The Tuss to now (obviously) Aphex Twin.
    If it wasn't for your music, I wouldn't be alive or even commenting this today. Your music has made me sleep peacefully, focus on important things in life and kept me sane throughout the years. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you never stop making music. Thank you for everything, Rich. Much love. 7\
