    I keep wanting to remind Hoocho and channel regulars that there was a group in the US called 3dponics that designs 3d prints for hydroponics and aquaponics. I would love to see Hoocho reach out to them and the growing with fishes podcast. I would love to see what the crossover would bring.

    Your other videos inspired me to finally pull the trigger on 3d printing and decided to pick up a P1S + AMS combo about a month ago. Its been an amazing experience because all I wanted was a tool for designing and printing functional prints. Your entire video perfectly sums up my experience with the printer and as a beginner to 3d printing I would say you cant go wrong with either of these bad boys.

    Hey Hoocho, check out the Panda Touch screens. They allow you to control multiple Bambu Lab printers from a single hub like you described.
    By the way, you can do some color change stuff even without an AMS. You just need to pause at the height you want to change it at, which is a great way to do logos or text (although it's essentially limited to being on a top surface).

    Welcome to the bambu labs side, I was an early bird Kickstarter backer for an x1c with ams.
    I will eventually get a p1s as a second single filament printer but wouldn't trade my x1c ams.
    I found issues with the cardboard spools getting stuck in the ams even with the plastic rails.
    There are printable adapter cores from the cardboard spools to the bambu refill spools where you remove the cardboard sides press in the core and assemble as if it were a refill. Those worked pretty good.
    I ended up going with direct orders of master spools and refills from sunlu. Its basically the easiest and least expensive/wasteful option i have found for black petg.

  • @JeffArtz
    @JeffArtz 17 дней назад +1

    @14:40 - The reason for the differences in the video from the printers is that the X1C has a multi-core Linux computer (similar to a Raspberry Pi) as the controller, so it can do full-motion video. The P1S has a much slower ESP32 Microcontroller (no Linux) which can only do photo snapshots.
    But the slower processor doesn't really affect the print speed or quality, as the controller is just feeding the movement commands to the motion controller. For that reason, the P1S is just as fast as the X1C.

  • @russellj911
    @russellj911 Месяц назад +4

    The camera is better in the X1C because it has a more powerful CPU than the P1S. You cannot upgrade the P1S camera because of that cpu limitation.

    • @MisterkeTube
      @MisterkeTube 8 дней назад

      The P1S is powered by an ESP32 rather than a SoC (like your Klipper raspberry pi or similar Linux-based systems on other printers and on the X1C), so I am totally in awe of what Bambu was able to pull off here and basically have the exact same printing result and still pulling of showing any picture from a camera and hosting a wifi API and (simple) screen-interface. This and the magic in the A1 mini is what convinced me these guys have the best engineers in the 3d printer world at this moment. I'm looking forward to what they'll come with next...

      In conclusion, print speed went from 50mm/s to 150 mm/s with input shaping/vibration compensation,could upload prints directly to the sonic pad without downloading to sd card, and have full access to edit the gcode. Sonic pad is totally worth it if you’re sticking with Enders.

    The P1P was my introduction to the 3D printing world. This machine has been AMAZING (out-of-the-box, plug n play). The largest learning-curve was performing maintenance. Thank God for the endless source of information on YT. As a proprietary machine, Bambu Lab has excellent support and very reasonably priced parts and upgrades. And they nailed the aesthetics. This is one fine-looking machine. Over-all, this is one of the most satisfying purchases ever made. Personally, I would recommend the A1 Mini to anyone on a budget or new to 3D printing; it's a less expensive way to test the water. However, I would totally go with the P1S simply because it provides more options and has a much more conformed and sleeker design. Both machines are different but top-notch, imho. If looking to use the printer for parts, tools, et. the AMS is not even necessary. 95% of what I print is single color anyway, adding a needless expense. I don't even feel that having the multi-colored capability would even be worth it.

    • @MisterkeTube
      @MisterkeTube 8 дней назад +1

      I don't print multicolor, but the AMS is totally worth it. Just being able to print any of the loaded materials and have seamless filament continuation when a role runs out by just having another role of the same material in the AMS is worth more than multicolor capability.

    I have a 2 week old X1C without AMS. Your ideas on minimizing multi material are excellent. What bothers me about the AMS is it's the least robust product of theirs. And IT'S NOT HEATED. If they release a heated AMS I'll order it same day. I tend to doubt a third party will offer a heated option for Bambu printers. My other complaint is neither video nor time lapse have worked on my iPhone. I have a raspberry pi cam rigged up for the time being, but it's not cloud connected. So it's only available at home so far. Have you tested the Orca slicer? It seems virtually identical, but it's much more community driven. Of course it doesn't have the cloud model browser.

    • @MisterkeTube
      @MisterkeTube 8 дней назад

      "It doesn't have the cloud model browser" YET. I wouldn't be surprised if a future version would boast model browsing not only from Makerworld, but also Printables and others. So far the devs of Orca have kept up with Bambuslicer improvements pretty well and the more code both slicers port over from the other the easier porting really wanted new functionality from the other should be, so apart from the functionality alone, that might be another incentive to have Orca just take over the model browsing from Bambu.

  • @steve-adams

    Oof, this is hard to watch. I'm on a FlashForge Creator Pro (around 4 years old now) and these Bambu Labs printers have been way too appealing. I get so many print failures, the print quality isn't great to begin with, various capabilities like bridging or speed are very poor... But it works. I can't justify an upgrade. Yet. The X1C is really expensive (though dirt cheap given how much better it is compared to the competition), so I think I'll save until my Creator Pro is unbearable to use.
    I agree about the pros/cons of proprietary hardware and software. I'm fine with it if the user experience is so dramatically better.

    I see a lot of talk of how Bambu Labs changed everything, but my (hopefully objective) take is they just had the first high profile printer in what could be called this 'next generation'. All the manufacturers now seem to be bringing out (much) faster printers that are in the 'plug and play' direction - it just seems like evolution of the tech, not a Bambu-specific thing. But people seem to like their Bambus much like they like their Apples (quite possibly a big overlap in the two camps of devotees too).
    Overall I'm neither one way or the other, but the pricing premium on Bambu gear turns me right off. I've also heard worrying things about Bambu's privacy policy, and their machines' logs containing data they have no need to be containing. Seems like 2024 is going to be the year of the multi colour/material printing units - hopefully someone will release one that can be retro-fitted to at least the current generation of printers (e.g. Ender V3 etc).

    If X1C is so good screen wise would it not make sense to get P1S and a 3rd party screen and better hotend still all gor a fraction of the price?
    Looks like P1S is purposely made to be a bit lacking and X1C overpriced for a fractional step up.

    • @MisterkeTube
      @MisterkeTube 8 дней назад

      P1S = X1C minus the costly unnecessary stuff. The SoC on the X1C is just driving that screen UI, the camera and the AI, so that's what you lose by cutting out that expensive SoC and screen from the BOM. And if you anyway don't have the power to process AI stuff / lidar images, that one is an additional cost-saving. The extruder gears and nozzle are cheap upgrades to handle carbon-filled stuff, so P1S is king in my eyes. Why would I go to the printer to see status or control stuff if I can do it from the slicer or my phone? And the lidar often gives worse results than (once per filament) manual tuning, has build plate limitations anyhow, and eats up some build volume at the front, so ... what are you then really missing on the P1S compared to the X1C? Well, bragging rights maybe?

I think for me best bet is to wait for someone to compete with bambu and then check the market again ... Creality K1 has all the problems of owning a Creality machine so thats not an option too 😂

    • @jeremycarrillo7399

      I pretty much only print functional things.
      Killer features of the ams for me are the auto change over on run out and the fact that its a dry box. The multi color is useful for printing labels. Also some things I would rather print in pla than petg as it prints just a bit faster and more accurately in my experience.
      I keep 2 spools of black petg, 1 spool of clear petg, and 1 spool of black pla in it at all times.
      I had my ender 3 all set up and dialed in but the x1c just took so much of the tinkering out of keeping it at that point. Sure its required a bit of maintenance and I did have couple of issues but that is in the 1.5 years of ownership and 100s of kg of filament.
      I ended up giving the ender away
