Awesome videos! Personally I'd like to see comparisons on high performance marine oil. I just recently switched to Amsoil products. Standard marine oil is 25w-40... i service boats with engines that range from 500hp to 900hp and they run 5k-6k rpm for extended periods of time, some times around 20 minutes or more... the standard go to oil has been valvoline VR1 20w-50 synthetic race oil backed up with Lucas oil stabilizer. Some guys run straight sae 50. I'm going to give the amsoil marine a shot with no additive and see how it holds up in my personal boat which runs twin BBC's. Again thank you for these comparisons, truly shows what a great product they provide.
I have used both brands for many many years. I bet that Mobil 1 burns off way faster than the Amsoil. Both are great oils, but Amsoil is definitely a different beast and I prefer the viscosity
In a big V8 or worn loose engine Amsoil might be OK. But in a small high strung engine the Amsol will just bog it down. But Amsoil grease and gear oil are great.
Awesome! I would love to see 10W40 motorcycle oil championship tests, if you don't mind doing.., Brands like Redline, Amsoil, Motul, Lucas, Royal Purple, Mobil 1, etc...

The whole 80% at start up is just ridiculous because it depends entirely on your driving application. I run hotshot and put 600 miles on my Cummins a day with typically only 2 start ups and average 100k a year. Are you saying that's comparable to someone who drives a Cummins 5 miles to and from work a day with 2 start ups and only puts 3k on their truck a year?
@@manwithnoname734 yeah because if you haven’t moved the car for 2-3 days and the oil is drained from the cylinders and valves, the next time of a startup if the oil is not moving fast inside the internal parts of the engine they will have important damage in short term.
@@liakostsiantoulas4617 though that may be true I'm not talking about not driving for 2-3 days, I'm talking about driving to and from work 5 days a week in a real life scenario. That can be a 50% real life difference which in my opinion far outweighs the pour test results which in all honesty is probably not very accurate anyway. If you truly want to know what oil is best try different kinds and do oil analysis tests.

I'm not as concerned with what you test, so much with HOW you test. I live in Minnesota, and it can sometimes get to -20 or -30. Oil runs thick at that temperature. I would like to know which oils have the best wear resistance and flow capacity in those types of conditions.
A fair comparison between Amsoil and Mobil 1 would be examining the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) of each oil to determine the Pour Point (PP)- the lower the better for starting in cold temperatures. We shall start with the top grade of oil from each manufacturer, followed by their mid-grade oils: Amsoil 5W-30 SS: -58 F PP; Amsoil 5W-30 XL: -47 F PP; Mobil 5W-30 EP: -17 F PP; Mobil 5W-30 Adv: -33 F PP The clear winner here for starting a cold engine is the company located just East of Duluth, MN in Superior, WI (Amsoil). The SDS also reveals that Exxon-Mobil formulates their “Full Synthetic” Mobil 1 (in both the aforesaid oils) with anywhere from 21% to 35% hydrocracked-petroleum oil (HPO). You will not find any HPO in any of the Amsoil Motor Oils listed in the SDSs, since Amsoil states on each quart container (and their website) they are 100% synthetic! The manufacturing process of making a 100% synthetic is actually more expensive, but the results are better in comparison to full synthetics and regular petroleum oils, especially with the increase in both MPG & Power! I was a former Mobil 1 fan until I discovered Amsoil 18 years ago, at which point I have never used anything but Amsoil. I initially became a preferred customer of Amsoil, then 16 years ago I became an independent Amsoil Dealer (all Dealers of Amsoil are independent contractors). I invite you to explore the Amsoil website that is filled with valuable information and notice the product reviews from verified customers, including the many that are boasting the Amsoil products are having a great effect in increasing their MPG. If that inspires you to become a Preferred Customer (PC), I would appreciate inserting Referral Code 1420935 in the PC Application, providing you are not currently working with an Amsoil Dealer.
so there are 3 version of amsoil oils? The OE, the signature and the performance? I guess the performance is the best of the 3? Thanks great videos and reviews!
Great Test as always but I’m staying with Mobil 1...the flow test says enough for me the bearing test separated only by 1 gram so still very pleased with that too almost to close to call.
@@Tevon93 ...true, and the difference was .001 ounce - one-one thousands of an ounce! Considering the cost of Mobil 1 compared to Amsoil, I'll stick with Mobil 1.

Hey Nates Grate Videos as always! Don't you think that a second friction test, heating up the oil at least 100 C° will make a difference in the mass loss? Cuz friction modifiers in oil, needs to be heated? And the heat in the metals isn't enough. So maybe oil "A" it's better in cold starts and oil "B" is better in operation temperature. Greetings from Cancún México, great videos again!
NATES INTERACTIVE AUTO oh ok! Would be really interesting to test OEM branded oils! Could be VW oil vs BMW oil, or the other scenario BMW branded oil vs Mobil1, let’s see if it’s true that’s the same oil...
can anyone tell me if I can stock up on engine oil? if left unopened, will they go bad? i got mobil 1 in local canadian tire for a really good deal. only 39 cad for 6 litres. if I stock up on this, can it go bad untill my next oil change?
Technically, the amsoil bearing was very close to 0.581 that's why it bounced around 0.581 & 0.580 until it settled and barely squeaked in to 0.580 vs Mobil 1's bearing which settled on 0.58 instantly. This suggests that the Mobil 1's bearing was likely at the bottom end of 0.58 and the amsoil bearing is at the top end of 0.58. So really, they are equal for wear protection and mobil 1 wins the pour. Over all, Mobil 1 is the true winner in your tests here.
Carlos Gonzales Mobil one oil is total dogshit he tested amsoils most low end oil they sell vs Mobil ones higher end oil wasn’t a fair fight from the beginning

Check a more recent video with Lucas tb zinc plus that i have made. Oils do contain zinc however its a much smaller amount ppm. The reason for less catalytic converters. But if you do not burn oil then you may not be concerned. They have made Cars use catalytic converters since 1975 by law. I personally believe if you are using much oil then your catalytic converter will become damaged regardless or if you engine is completely worn out you wont have to worry about your catalytic converter because your car won't run. Plus if your engine is better protected using a zinc additive then it would wear slower and burn less oil meaning the cost of oil or running more efficiently would add up to more than the cost of a catalytic converter. But i have to say follow manufacturer's recommendations.
Test Liqui Moly Molygen it’s there best oil with the most anti wear additives, it’s Lime green and you can use a black light to see if or were you have a leak
Mr. BosSTANG Amsoil Signature Series 5w50 will blow any Motorcraft oil out of the water brotha. And I can get you hooked up i am an Amsoil distributor, All my buddies run Amsoil after trying it.

My buddies motor blew up early on using Amsoil ,my motor continues on 21 years later using K&N filters and Mobile one 300k miles burns zero oil. I put it in everything on my farm and have not had a failure yet. I have a push mower over 20 years old still going strong.
Got a vehicle with close to 400k using amsoil signature series and still running like new plus another vehicle with 280k so amsoil definitely didn't blow up your buddies motor.
You missed a very important issue by fully coating the bearing in oil before the wear test. Most wear occurs at start up, so how fast an oil gets thru an engine determines how little damage the engine receives. The Mobil 1 obliterated the Amsoil in the flow test, so MUCH less damage would occur with Mobil 1 in the real world.
No not true. Engines have oil pumps they dont rely on gravity to feed the engine. Any oil pump would pump these oils very quickly. Cold pour gravity tests mean nothing.
@@jamesvw769 no ur right they have oil pump but the oil pump is run off the engine crank. so u can’t prime an oil pump . so those first couple cranks on start up are running on so little oil especially when it is cold. this is why cold lubricity matters.
Pshh. Amsoil is indeed good oil. However, not readily available at stores here in the USA. Plus the price is like triple vs the competition. I'll take Pennzoil or Mobil 1 any oil change day!!!

Appreciate all the videos. Keep practicing and editing, they are coming together nicely and your subscriber count should stay on the rise as well! Good work. I think an oil additive shown down using the same methods would be interesting!
So my concern is that amsoil failed the pour test at room temp. I live in the north east us where we have some pretty cool winters. If running amsoil in the winter I suspect it will have a harder time flowing until the engine gets to operating temp. This will cause dry starts and accelerated wear. Am I correct in my concern?
No need for concern with Amsoil. The signature series 5w-30 pour point is -58 vs Mobil 1 at -33. Mobil 1 may be slightly thinner at room temp but it thickens up quicker as it gets down to freezing temps. Mobil 1 also thins out and boils away sooner at higher temps too, as it’s flash point is 396 degrees f and Amsoil’s is 428 f
I'm thinking Amsoil actually had a higher viscosity than what's being promoted on their label because it lost on the run test.Wich tells me that mobile one has a better oil flow and at the same time one beating Amsoil by a whole quart.Wich tells me for some reason Amsoil has a thicker oil than Mobile 1
It seems that way doesn't. Higher viscosity seems to protect better as we all know. I think running higher viscosity like 5w40 diesel oils like Mobile Delvac 1 is pretty money and add an additive like Lubeguard which has ester technology in it as well
Appreciate the effort but the hard truth is that this test is not relavent in room temperature. Engine lubricant operating temperature range is very wide and a good oil can protect, seal, clean and cool at both high and low ends of this range and retain its properties along the drain interval.
I used to be a mobile one fan till I use Amazon Signature Series it's a big difference of night and day I can tell the difference performance fuel everything get your money up get damsel Signature Series

If that inspires you to become a Preferred Customer (PC), I would appreciate inserting Referral Code 1420935 in the PC Application, providing you are not currently working with an Amsoil Dealer.
Test the 5w-20 Mobil 1 extended performance high mileage formula please.
Nice video,, thanks soo much for your work, it's amazing
Thank you i need to work harder to improve videos and new ideas
What oil filter is compatible with the Amsoil synthetic 5w-30?
Hello, i need help please, I have a 2009 BMW 525d. 220.000 km. it’s better Liqui Moly 5w40 or Motul? I would like the best oil. I live in Greece
so there are 3 version of amsoil oils? The OE, the signature and the performance? I guess the performance is the best of the 3? Thanks great videos and reviews!
great series! I followed up on that
I appreciate you
Not bad for Mobil 1 still 2nd place . Also it’s readily available every where . So it’s more convenient to pick up.
What oil can we test next
NATES INTERACTIVE AUTO@
Mobil 1 -truck and suv 5w-30
Vs
Shell rotella-gas truck 5w-30
Both brand new oils to the market
Great thanks for the suggestions
Great Test as always but I’m staying with Mobil 1...the flow test says enough for me the bearing test separated only by 1 gram so still very pleased with that too almost to close to call.
Yeah i can't disagree both are quality
I use it on my guns any gun awesome much better than goofy gun oil
He measured in Ounces not grams.
@@Tevon93 ...true, and the difference was .001 ounce - one-one thousands of an ounce! Considering the cost of Mobil 1 compared to Amsoil, I'll stick with Mobil 1.
What ultimately matters engine degeneration, wears and tears or flow of oil. mobil won flow test but can not protect the engine better than amsoil
What does the pour test prove? Initial viscosity?
You should check out Schaeffer oil. They have 2 proprietary patented additives that noone else has. Micron Moly and Penetro.
Smoothest running oil I've ever found 👌👍🏁
Hey Nates Grate Videos as always!
Awesome i need to be in Cancun but good point what all can improve testing?
Great videos! Test performance drop-in air filters! Test air flow, dust and debris detainment! (Something like that).
Nice what oils can we test next
NATES INTERACTIVE AUTO oh ok! Would be really interesting to test OEM branded oils! Could be VW oil vs BMW oil, or the other scenario BMW branded oil vs Mobil1, let’s see if it’s true that’s the same oil...
I need 16 oils
Are these tests good enough to make a conclusion?
I've noticed Mobil 1 is a tad leaner and wears out faster than other brands, i had a oil change not to long ago and im already at 60% oil life 🙁
Thanks for the comparison
can anyone tell me if I can stock up on engine oil? if left unopened, will they go bad? i got mobil 1 in local canadian tire for a really good deal. only 39 cad for 6 litres. if I stock up on this, can it go bad untill my next oil change?
Amsoil or Mobil 1 champions?
mobil 1
Technically, the amsoil bearing was very close to 0.581 that's why it bounced around 0.581 & 0.580 until it settled and barely squeaked in to 0.580 vs Mobil 1's bearing which settled on 0.58 instantly. This suggests that the Mobil 1's bearing was likely at the bottom end of 0.58 and the amsoil bearing is at the top end of 0.58. So really, they are equal for wear protection and mobil 1 wins the pour. Over all, Mobil 1 is the true winner in your tests here.
That what I thought. Imagine starting your car in a cold winter, I use Mobile one synthetic. Just saying
Carlos Gonzales Mobil one oil is total dogshit he tested amsoils most low end oil they sell vs Mobil ones higher end oil wasn’t a fair fight from the beginning
Shhh. Your gonna upset the Amesoil fanboy boybands
Funny but true the sellers do not like it. It doesn't matter to me.
I used mobil1 oil that was the least expensive and the lowest quality besides the mobil super which is conventional. But i did test mobil1 best vs Amsoil best
What oils can we test next?
What about transmission fluid? Valvoline max life, vs Castrol, also redline, amsoi and pentosin have all great fluids.
test the conventional motor oils to see who makes the best. If you do please include Walmart supertech in the test.
Recommending some top oils you could help us with, all 0w-20 :
- Mobil 1 Annual Protection.
- Pentosin 0w-20.
- Castrol Edge Extended Performance (20k miles).
- Royal Purple High Performance
- Amsoil Signature Series
- Eneos 0w-20, or Eneos Sustina 0w-20.
- Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
Just some suggestions. GREETINGS.
Which the better one?
gatillo silencioso That’s what the Top Oil Championship is going to be about, learning which one is the best of the best Worldwide. STAY TUNED!!
Would you please test HD SNY3 Motor oil against Mobil 1 motorcycle oil. Thanks
0W-20 next please between Amsoil vs Mobil 1.
Sure
I would need to see 0w20 amsoil vs penzoil platinum and amsoil 0w20 vs mobil 1 0w20?
I really like to know how same vs same would do! when it comes down to .01 chances are, it could be off by .01!! Just curious.
Temperature and testing methods
I wanna know the best 20w-50 oil.
Mobil 1 it is. I trusted it since 40 years ago. I’m 75 years old, still trust Mobil 1. Which is also readily available.
Been using any full synthetic available on sale since the late 80s, never a problem, they're all better than group II oils.
You should do cold and hot tests, then use the hot test oil for the bearing test.
id be super interested to see motorcycle grade oils tested!
Interesting what brand
Die hard Mobil 1 user. I’ve always wanted to use AMS oil. Maybe next oil change
Test the 5w40 synthetic diesel oils. Rotella T6, Hot Shot's Secret Blue diamond PAO,
Mobil one turbo diesel truck, Mobil delvac 1, Delo XSP 400, Amsoil signature max duty diesel. Probably a few others I missed.
I appreciate the help
Is it really necessary to wear your black gloves? Or does it just make him feel cooler.
Tell us about zinc additive for pre 95 cars ? Do either of these oils have zinc in it ?
Nice video. Could you do 5w50? It’s whats Required for my 2013 Boss mustang. I use the motorcraft brand and looking for another option.
What other brands should we test
Mr. BosSTANG Amsoil Signature Series 5w50 will blow any Motorcraft oil out of the water brotha. And I can get you hooked up i am an Amsoil distributor, All my buddies run Amsoil after trying it.
Thanks for watching
Matt_7sixty Gt I heard nothing but good things about the oil, And I also heard they overhyped too. I’ll have to see that for myself. I’ll keep you in mind about that offer, thanks. I have no social media how do I get in contact with you?
I hope that next time you will try Petronize oils that carry a special technology to prevent friction and compare them with other oil companies
Does that bearing stress test show actual engine stress or is it just a hardcore test to show which lubricant is better?
The tester is for snake oil sales people, to show what ? No roller experiences load as referred by this test.
@@AUDI_obsessionexactly the smoother flowing oil is better during that process.
@@jamesvw769 90 percent of engine wear takes place on startup. Do some research before talking like you're the expert here.
Why didn't you test for volatility at high temperatures?
Nice job and tests, but where is a Ravenol and Comma ? :) Like
Soon and what would be a good test
You have to heat oil up to 140f for lubricity test to be accurate
What kind of prize did it win? Did you put it in one of your finest peices of equipment?
Pshh. Amsoil is indeed good oil. However, not readily available at stores here in the USA. Plus the price is like triple vs the competition. I'll take Pennzoil or Mobil 1 any oil change day!!!
Pennzoil platinum is some good shit
Amesoil is real big on the shelvf retaylor in mexico city and north korea. Fanboys would love it down there. Imagine living in mexico or north korea beboppin to your favoret boyband and while getting some amesoip off the shelvf?
Hey Nate! Can you try out Puröl oil. They’re a small enthusiast company out of California with an aerospace background and target performance cars
Сделай вне конкурса еще тест моторного масла 5w30 Маннол 7713 ОЕМ Киа Хендэ очень интересное крепкое на износ масло и не дорогое синтетика
Can you test 0w 40 Amsoil signature series against other 0w 40 oils? That would be awesome to see.
What other brands
Appreciate all the videos. Keep practicing and editing, they are coming together nicely and your subscriber count should stay on the rise as well! Good work. I think an oil additive shown down using the same methods would be interesting!
Me to absolutely what additives?
When did royal purple fall out? Also I'd appreciate a diesel oil tournament, let me know if I could help in any way, appreciate the videos
why don't put the test review on Motul 300V and AMSOIL EUROPEAN CAR FORMULA?
Thanks
Why you didn't check the Amsoil Signature series ?
I would like to see test on oil at operaring temp. Would temperature change the results.
Exactly cook in oven to a little higher then 212°F the fill cup
Nice idea
I need ideas
Nice video man. I watched all until now. Try next the amsoil Signature vs Amsoil OE. One more thing i can say is oil is not OOL :D
My country slang?
i saw the same test where
schaffers out performs mobil 1 so im confused how we can have the same tests with different results
How about the 5/40 comparison?
Lol bro the slow talking country slang is so funny 😂😂😂😂
Awesome
Any oil recommendations For a 2018 chevy silverado 5.3 with 15000 miles????
@Brandon Inc i got mobile 1 0w20 fuel economy and hope its good for trucks too
Get Mobil 1 EP. purchase at Walmart. They have a rebate going on now 12 buck per 5qts. Max 4. Best bang for your buck and good oil
Valvoline vs Mobil 1! i haven't seen that test yet
I think running higher viscosity like 5w40 diesel oils like Mobile Delvac 1 is pretty money and add an additive like Lubeguard which has ester technology in it as well
Can you do redline MTL vs Royal purple Sychromax
Appreciate the effort but the hard truth is that this test is not relavent in room temperature. Engine lubricant operating temperature range is very wide and a good oil can protect, seal, clean and cool at both high and low ends of this range and retain its properties along the drain interval.
This would include part of that range
I need ideas
Ya but what about when the oil is warmed up and when they are cold
Consolation match Quaker State Ultimate Durabilty vs Pennzoil Platinum vs Mobil 1 vs Castrol Edge.. all in 5W30.. Make it happen 👍🏽
Nice absolutely but what about for new tournament
I suggest best conventional 5w30
How about 20w50 V-Twin oil?
0w~20 please!
0W-20 would be awesome.
Funny, I arrived to the video and chat the moment you were telling Amsoil wins. Watching the video now.
Lol awesome
Mobil didn't lose by much. If amsoil could flow like mobil. Id be sold on buying it but for Regular driving mobil one will work for me.
I used to be a mobile one fan till I use Amazon Signature Series it's a big difference of night and day I can tell the difference performance fuel everything get your money up get damsel Signature Series
Yes there both good motor oils
Great
There's more than one flavor of Mobil 1 as well. I think this calls for a amsoil sig series vs Mobil 1 extended performance.
I appreciate you sharing
Hey Eben can I put that blue at fluid in a gm car 2017 Chevy impala lt 2.5?

I’d like to see Mag 1 synthetic. I get it really cheap from Amazon & have been really happy with it.
Ok we need 16 oils and what viscosity
Preferably 5W-30
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO 0w-20
Gracias broo por la info buenos videos saludos desde chile
Can you compare Mobil 1 Formula M vs. Mobil 1 European formula
Anyone tried shell rotella gas truck? Found it on sale at walmart $5 for a 5 qt jug. Couldn't beat the price
Maybe you should do these test using the novac volatility test followed up by the bearing wear test with the same heated oil to represent used motor oil with some mileage on it.
I decided to purchase Mobil 1 for my GT40. Have had decades of trouble free engine reliability using Mobil 1.
I started using full synthetics in the late 80s in everything I drive, I used whatever was on sale and had no problems...
