I honestly thought he was going say the Tau were the next created species to end the chaos gods because everything he mentioned described the tau pretty well
what if the tau are a long lost offshoot of the necrontyr? or perhaps a re-creation of what the necrontyr were, maybe created by the silent king himself as a way for him to atone? it would go somewhat towards explaining why they progressed so quickly, and why the ethereals suddenly appeared
Tyranids arent the product of the old ones, they are at an absolute loss against necrons , there isnt even a point in creating them as a weapon against the necrons , also the tyranids were called in from another galaxy by other signals, im not sure which one but tyranids are galaxy sized predators, they hunt whole galaxies at once Also the tyranid hivemind is great against psyhers ... but psychers are the greatest weapon against the soulless necrons so thats also counterpreductive There arent any texts about the old ones other then the war in heavens and their demise ...
It might still work. The Necrons can overcome almost any shortcoming with their technology. The only innate weakness they really have at this point is that there's a finite number of them, and they can't reproduce. Some Necrons are even looking for a suitable "host" race to download into to remedy this problem. The Tyranids basically cut off this option while eventually forcing the Necrons into drawn-out battle of attrition with the accumulated biomass of the entire galaxy... Seems like it could work.
Tyranids are in no way at an absolute loss VS necrons, acid based weapons are EXTREMELY effective VS the entirely metallic Necrons, not to mentions Nids have one of the single most effective psychic arsenals in the entire setting which would be tailor made to fuck up Necrons. Obviously there are no detailed texts, Old ones are MEANT to be the murky masterminds or mysteries makers of the 40K setting. However, the theory surrounding Old Ones and Nids being connected is actually a lot more credible if you do some digging. Of course this assumes any Old Ones survived which current lore seems to point they didn't, though it is left open as to whether or not they fled. On a personal note I'm very much on the fence with all this, and to a degree I "hate it" but it still has its merits. Honestly I always liked the idea that Nids were the one and only non-"native" residents of the Milky Way galaxy and thus add to their weird factor, but the Old One theory does hold water and shouldn't be completely written off.
There's no data on engineering much of the races in the empire appart from the T'au themselves, but the Kroots are an offshoot of the Krork species that evolved differently from the Orks.
have you ever heard about abiogenesis? life can emerge independently from inanimate matter without the need for a creator. no one created the Old ones, The Eldar, The Tau, and the Necrontyr . they evolved independently on different planets like we did on earth
This is however Heresy! The Tyranids are the Emperors creation gone out of control. Guilliman is currently working with the Adeptus Mechanicum to create a giant shock collar to bring these misbehaving puppies back under control, helping in the fight against chaos.
Question: I'm a really clumsy person, but on the other hand I wanna try playing 40k at least once before I die. I don't have any friends who are even remotely interested, but my local store has tons of guys playing (i'm just kinda scared to come near them until i'm ready) so If I buy the dolls, learn the rules, but won't paint, will my local game store accept me or probably not? Also, if I ask a friend to paint my dolls, will it count like a flaw in me as a player? Like is there a 40k culture thing where you don't let someone else paint your dolls or smth? Thanks a bunch!
The only true thing that will make the community look at you weird is calling the pieces dolls, or showing up with completely unpainted or primed pieces. It's best to refer to them as models or miniatures. As for simply walking in and playing, most Warhammer players are always looking for new people to game with. It's honestly a very friendly community; I have yet to meet one player at my local shop who I didn't enjoy being around. There's also nothing inherently wrong with not painting your models yourself, since it can be very time-consuming and tedious for some.
In a way, all of this 40k lore reminds me of Halo's Lore. There's a similar advanced race called the Forerunners that had dominion over the Galaxy until they were threatened by the Flood, a biological species very similar to the Tyranids. After a long war, the Forerunners opted to create massive Rings as a superweapon to exterminate the Flood by exterminating all organic life in the galaxy (the Flood's food source). The Forerunners also used the DNA for the lifeforms that existed prior to restart life after the Flood were supposedly eradicated. Then, in the future, humanity colonized the stars, but were threatened with Civil War until they encountered the Covenant (who worshipped the Forerunners). Amidst this conflict remnants of the Flood returned. I think Warhammer, as a fictional universe, was established first, but it's not hard to see many parallels between the two.
how about Ollanius Pius(we use his 6th edition version here) being Old One's reincarnation(during the very last moment of Ollanius Pius' past life as Old One, he turns Burning one into C'Tan Shard)?
I really want to see another race from another galaxy in this universe. It would expand the story and it could be a threat that forces races like the humans and eldar into an alliance to even hold ground against it
Well, old Warhammer had a reptoid race called the "Slaan" as explanation for how things were. And they were characters too, at least tribes that had fallen to relative barbarism but were still powerful... I have the impression they are using that but due to the Slanesh thing worried there'd be confusion.
maybe they set out one huge wave to clean teh galaxy and sent the tau in after to unite the survivers that havent fallen to chaos so when the old ones come back the galaxy isnt a ghost town
Carter Sanchez the only ones would be op as fuck. It took the full might if the ctan entities that eat stars, have matter manipulation, are unkillable, masters of the physical universe, can create super massive black holes for the lols and can destroy hole sectors of a galaxy singlehandedly. One of them killed so many that it created the fear of death in all races, it's the Grimm reaper. Another can control technology.
The Old Ones at the height of their power would be OP as fuck but remember their race was driven to the brink of extinction with presumeably only a small amount of them managing to flee. Even though its been 60 million years since, who's to say what happened to their race following their exodus from the Milky Way. Much of their knowledge could and wisdom could have been lost and so if they were to return they would most likely not be as the Power Houses they were before the War in Heaven. I would personally love to see the Old Ones introduced as a new playable race. I am of the opinion that games like 40K are quick to stagnate creatively without new faction options being introduced. People will disagree with me on this matter, but the fact is 30k is the closest thing we have to a living evolving game, and it makes sense that new races SHOULD be introduced as playable factions, especially when you have a universe so expansive as 40k that has established that there are numerous other races out there. Its been 16 years since the Tau were released, before that the game had pretty much the same models and armies for however long the game was going for at that point. We're at a time where a similar thing is happening and its time for another entry into the options of playable races. Yes, costs have to be considered to from the companies stand point, but really, what was the last really exciting buzz in Warhammer 40k? I wish the Sisters of Battle would get updated figures and expanded models too but seems like thats never going to happen at this point.
New drinking game: One 1/10th of a shot each time he says "the old ones" in the same tone. Full shot when he says "the old ones" with minor inflection.
I'm new to the 40K universe, but I think it would be awesome to see a book series centered around a massive army going into the Warp to kill the Chaos Gods, or at least one of them. It would give a big plot or partial finale to the 40k universe, and make for a fascinating read, IMO
Your Promethus as inspiration for the Tyranids is slightly undermined by the fact that the Tyranids featured in the original Rogue Trader version of 40k from 1987! And where based on the Zoats from the even older Warhammer fantasy battles!
Would love to see the necrons vs precursors (not forerunners) and dont comment unless you know both lores. Forerunners were absolutely insane... easily on par with old ones. (40k fanboy here btw)
Well, this really ruins Orks. It was much more hilarious to me when they were just random, angry space mushrooms who painted their vehicles red to make them go faster.
I was always led to believe that works were created by man before the time of the emperor. I'm also sure I read that the elder and necrontyr were around at the same time. Are GW changing their own history?
Apparently yes as the Chaos gods aren't infinite in what they can do, they're limited. So as they derive their energy from psychic beings in the Milky Way, it stands to reason that they don't posess infinite power, as there aren't an infinite number of beings in one galaxy. If the chaos gods were infinite beings, they could theoretically "do" anything, which they can't. So it stands to reason the chaos gods are only limited to the Milky Way galaxy.
James Palmer no, the warp in if itself is a multiverse that is a mirror if our own universe. But multiple universes in the warp, and are created and destroyed by the chaos gods. It is also stated that the warp is all over the universe, and since the chaos gods are the masters of the warp, then they should exist there. Tyranids have been said to have consumed dozens of galaxies, orks also are found in another galaxy, and they are both connected to the warp
There are multiple universes in Warhammer. So, the Chaos gods are not limited to our galaxy. You forget that before the Chaos Gods, there was just he Warp itself, stable. I am thinking that the warp expands across the universe and other multiple universe. The only thing is that the Chaos gods needs the emotions or souls to fuel their power. That is why when the Chaos Gods are up against Tyranids, their power usually dries up.
Me Alexander There is no reason to assume they are only active in our galaxy, since whenever it is explained, it always mentioned that the warp exists throughout the universe, and multiple universes exist in the warp which are created and destroyed by the will of the chaos gods
I was like you once...Clinging to life, and blind to the truth. When I uncovered the truth I too Shuddered and paled with fear. Deep in the catacombs I was remade, Here my brethren slumbered for eons while the living grew like weeds. My lord knew this day would come. he had plans for us all. we would purge this world once more!
judgeculph Yeah I always saw the xenomorphs as an ancient organism that evolved into perfection, but no! They the result of a broken robot! Fucking bullshit!
This is pretty decent theory. But tyanids can’t beat the necrons.... but since tyranids don’t travel in the warp but through folding space. It would make sense. But if true than if the emperor could ever “fix” humanity and end the chaos it causes than he might end up getting the old ones attention. It would be interesting to see what comes of that.
If anything, I am waiting to see what would happen if the Old Ones appeared. Their only creations, the Eldar and Orks, would probably be the only ones that would help them. That is if there is a genetic code in the Orks that tells them to help the Old Ones. The Eldar would help them from the start. The humans would be one their enemies, as they have said, "for the emperor."
nice theory but in Pharos in the horus heresy it tells us that the Pharos burning brighter than the astronomical temporarily is what attracted the hive mind in the first place and it starts turning towards our galaxy, meaning before that it had no intention of coming here it was headed somewhere else
I'd say this theory is much closer to the Flood from Halo than the xenomorphs. But also if Tyranids are sent by the old ones surely they would go out of their way to target necrons, yet they usually completely avoid tomb worlds. Also I'm pretty sure the necrons would be able to trump the 'nids if it came to all out war between them so they don't seem like the ideal weapons in that regard.
Definitely an interesting theory. It also fits the pattern of the old ones fucking up and trying to fix it by creating an even more dangerous life form over and over.
That picture of the Reptile, with wings and a gun is probably from mass effect. No one knows what the Old Ones looked like. The only ones that could tell you are their creations. The Eldar have already given their description of the Old Ones, known as their gods. The Laughing god is the only still living Old One left.
It makes sense, the orks being warlike enough and with their numbers to match the Necrons in brutality. And the tyranids fighting chaos impeding chaos' foothold on the physical realm in order to weaken it.
Here is my theory: Tyranids are storage and distraction rather than a weapon. They devour all life they encounter, creating empty space (space Necrons will then ignore) while at the same time storing the genes/dna of the races they devour so that one day the old ones can restore these races. Meanwhile the world of warhammer fantasy battle is located somewhere beyond this empty space created by the Tyranids, away from prying eyes. There as a breeding and training ground for races they were trying to enhance to fight against the Necrons, but were abandoned (lost?) when Slaanesh was born, and the shock not only tore open the Eye of terror, but the polar warp gates on that planet as well.
The old ones and the Old Slann are the one thing that both Warhammer’s have in common. As in Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40’000 . Both the Warhammer World and the races of Warhammer 40’000 were created by The Old Ones, and they have the collapsed warp gates of the Realms of chaos and The Eye of Terror in common too. They were both created by The Old ones, weren’t they?
Have the bones/corpses/ or technological remains of the old ones shown up anywhere? If not it's likely they packed up in their entirety and moved thru their web ways as they also haven't appeared in the ranks of chaos so they wouldn't have moved thru the warp risking anything of theirs being discovered
It is rumored that descendants of the Old Ones are living on Earth and go by the names Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello.

Tyranids arent the product of the old ones, they are at an absolute loss against necrons , there isnt even a point in creating them as a weapon against the necrons , also the tyranids were called in from another galaxy by other signals, im not sure which one but tyranids are galaxy sized predators, they hunt whole galaxies at once
Also the tyranid hivemind is great against psyhers ... but psychers are the greatest weapon against the soulless necrons so thats also counterpreductive
There arent any texts about the old ones other then the war in heavens and their demise ...
Küken The Tanith meet an old one in one of the gaunt novels. It's was destroying webway portals.
Küken
They aren't useless against them, they can still destroy necrons
Holy crap this is ground breaking, I had no idea how amazing this faction was.
Question: who created the Necrontyr, the Tau and the allies of the Tau? I do hope you received my message
There's no data on engineering much of the races in the empire appart from the T'au themselves, but the Kroots are an offshoot of the Krork species that evolved differently from the Orks.
Matt The Necrontyr are as old as the Great Ones. They are older than the Eldar and the Eldar created the Tau.
evilution mostly.
pnp072000 I thought the Tau just advanced quickly after finding crashed space ships on their planet?
have you ever heard about abiogenesis?
life can emerge independently from inanimate matter without the need for a creator.
no one created the Old ones, The Eldar, The Tau, and the Necrontyr .
they evolved independently on different planets like we did on earth
This is however Heresy! The Tyranids are the Emperors creation gone out of control. Guilliman is currently working with the Adeptus Mechanicum to create a giant shock collar to bring these misbehaving puppies back under control, helping in the fight against chaos.
spacemarines riding carnifexes !!!!
You sir are a visionary! :)
Can't we just exterminatus the whole galaxy?
no because then GW will go bankrupt since this is their major profitable IP
Spaceship sized bugspray
Actually, the Ancients having anything to do with Tyranids has never occurred to me... Though you are right, it fits perfectly.
P.s. are there pre-painted dolls i'm not aware of but can buy??
I got my pre-painted dolls on Amazon. I have a whole Blood Angels squad and a Robout Guilliman doll!
Miniatures. Got it! Priming is fine with me, I'm just a shitty painter :)
Well, the more you paint, the better you get ;]
So this is how the lizard men come into 40K
Through an old one counter attack.
We really need a cinematic tv series 🙌🏻
If this is true then the Old Ones have undoubtedly been corrupted in same way.
how about Ollanius Pius(we use his 6th edition version here) being Old One's reincarnation(during the very last moment of Ollanius Pius' past life as Old One, he turns Burning one into C'Tan Shard)?
The big muscly dudes from the Alien franchise are called Engineers.
Thank you, cant believe I forgot that
*Inhales deeply*
“But what if there’s an Old one in the Vaults of TRAZYN THE INFINITE!”
The lore isn't specific on how the Old Ones viewed collective societies.
At 9:00, I was already thinking Tyranids.
Jeez, the Old Ones just want to hit the galactic reset button. On all life.
Oh.....kay.....
And how many other galaxies have the ‘nids eaten?
In anyone's opinion, would the Old Ones ever become a playable race, or perhaps a subrace of them?
honestly no. I think the GW would make more money from introducing a race that is more connected to the imperium like the men of iron.
OneMindSyndicate lame I wanna play the lizardmen race
Just take the Lizardmen AoS rules and slightly modify them. BAM! you got Old Ones in 40k.
The Old Ones at the height of their power would be OP as fuck
but remember their race was driven to the brink of extinction with presumeably only a small amount of them managing to flee.
This is one of my favourite 40k stories, great video
Thumbs down for presenting the video as fact and only at the end mentioning it's a theory. 40 facts my ass.
your mom is a fact
New drinking game: One 1/10th of a shot each time he says "the old ones" in the same tone. Full shot when he says "the old ones" with minor inflection.
Dude in the cover picture looks like a muscled up skektsy from the Dark Crystal on steroids.
I'm new to the 40K universe, but I think it would be awesome to see a book series centered around a massive army going into the Warp to kill the Chaos Gods, or at least one of them. It would give a big plot or partial finale to the 40k universe, and make for a fascinating read, IMO
I swear there used to be a 5th chaos God (Nihilism?) that hated the others
Could resurrect that one, make it the undivided patron or something
Google tells me it was Malal/Malice
I like ur reasonings on how the old ones may have made the tyranids makes sense,
thank you
Ricky Guillen but its fanfiction and not fact
+AJZulu no shit, I'm a Tyranid player
I like this theory. It makes sense. Which is ironic considering they once valued all life.
Wait.. Were the Tyranids created by the Old Ones?
Edit: Called it.
Send this to Henry C. maybe they can work this lore into the series they are creating - Titus has no fear.
Your Promethus as inspiration for the Tyranids is slightly undermined by the fact that the Tyranids featured in the original Rogue Trader version of 40k from 1987! And where based on the Zoats from the even older Warhammer fantasy battles!
i was always curious about that waagh energy. thanks.
lets make this video as long as it should have been.
"Where are the Old Ones Now = answer DEAD.
end of video.
16 mins of filler for that answer. gg
That's what Orks are.
That's what they still are lmao
I was always led to believe that works were created by man before the time of the emperor. I'm also sure I read that the elder and necrontyr were around at the same time. Are GW changing their own history?
I love this theory, signing up to it for sure
One of my top 40k theories that make sense.
Necrons:"You should of brought more"....Should have just let everyone live forever, now it is a galaxy of shit.
That is a great theory. I'm starting a small Tyranid army, so thanks for this. :)
No problem glad you liked
Old Ones to Necrontyr: if you want to live forever, just have us for your Math and Science teachers
The necrontyr are actually radioactive
But chaos is not only limited to our Galaxy right ?
Apparently yes as the Chaos gods aren't infinite in what they can do, they're limited. So as they derive their energy from psychic beings in the Milky Way, it stands to reason that they don't posess infinite power, as there aren't an infinite number of beings in one galaxy. If the chaos gods were infinite beings, they could theoretically "do" anything, which they can't. So it stands to reason the chaos gods are only limited to the Milky Way galaxy.
Imad99 There are probably other kinds of gods in other galaxies but they are too far away to be affected by our emotions and vice versa
Me Alexander
There is no reason to assume they are only active in our galaxy, since whenever it is explained, it always mentioned that the warp exists throughout the universe, and multiple universes exist in the warp which are created and destroyed by the will of the chaos gods
Suggestion: necrons
Amazing theory!! Loved it!! Makes total sense of every race now! Goodjob OMS 🤘🏽
Nah, brah
>40 Facts
>Tyranid theory
Nah
It fits perfectly with the Warhammer (now Age of Sigmar) World, I think it's awesome
I must be the only one who prefers evolution to be the origin story for most sci-fi species. Sometimes mystery is better for the story.
ThePeacemaker848 agreed. This is why I hated Alien Covenant.
judgeculph Yeah I always saw the xenomorphs as an ancient organism that evolved into perfection, but no! They the result of a broken robot! Fucking bullshit!
They are on hiatus and will only be brought out if GW thinks it will make them a lot of money.
Good job!
thank you
This sounds more like the Reapers from the Mass Effect universe, and like the reapers, the Tyranid will eventually turn on their creators.
TYRANNIDS?! SERIOUSLY!??
Nah just joking you got me
OneMindSyndicate maybe they made the femminids
well, the word Termagant means "overbearing and disagreeable woman"......

Where is this picture from?
Question: is there power armor ( or something asthetically similar?) That is normal human size? If so what should i make it out of?
The battle sisters use something similar, as do some Inquisitors
Yup you re right.
nice theory but in Pharos in the horus heresy it tells us that the Pharos burning brighter than the astronomical temporarily is what attracted the hive mind in the first place and it starts turning towards our galaxy, meaning before that it had no intention of coming here it was headed somewhere else
What music is it you use in the background of your videos????? Like in this video!
Darude Sandstorm
Im crying D:
I'd say this theory is much closer to the Flood from Halo than the xenomorphs. But also if Tyranids are sent by the old ones surely they would go out of their way to target necrons, yet they usually completely avoid tomb worlds. Also I'm pretty sure the necrons would be able to trump the 'nids if it came to all out war between them so they don't seem like the ideal weapons in that regard.
Definitely an interesting theory. It also fits the pattern of the old ones fucking up and trying to fix it by creating an even more dangerous life form over and over.
Do you think GW would ever make a 40k version of the old ones?
I think they are better of as a mystery :)
I like the idea that the Old Ones created the Tyranids.
I had thought the "old ones" were the Slaan
Suggestion: 40 facts of how does one join the ranks of Khrone's massive and bloody army?
I kinda had this idea that Humans were the Old Ones and I'm happy to find out that we know they aren't.
Hi! Are the old ones living in a floatilla or an armada in inter-galactic space? or have they found and colonised another galaxy?
That picture of the Reptile, with wings and a gun is probably from mass effect. No one knows what the Old Ones looked like. The only ones that could tell you are their creations. The Eldar have already given their description of the Old Ones, known as their gods. The Laughing god is the only still living Old One left.
13:40 Look at those pearly whites, these guardsmen sure have excellent dental coverage
It makes sense, the orks being warlike enough and with their numbers to match the Necrons in brutality. And the tyranids fighting chaos impeding chaos' foothold on the physical realm in order to weaken it.
Do you have a video on the guy in the first image?
I have never read the slug-eldar origin story anywhere in the background, where is it coming from?
Can anyone link the original image used in the Thumb.
Here is my theory:
Tyranids are storage and distraction rather than a weapon.
That does sound like a valid theory
Have the bones/corpses/ or technological remains of the old ones shown up anywhere? If not it's likely they packed up in their entirety and moved thru their web ways as they also haven't appeared in the ranks of chaos so they wouldn't have moved thru the warp risking anything of theirs being discovered
