"As space wolves grow older, their hair will turn grey" That happens to most people I think.
They aren't supposed to age.
Most people don't live that long
@@drawbyyourselve but they are essentially immortal being able to live thousands of years without showing any sign of aging like the emporer.
@@kristianferencik8685 Well, maybe not thousands, given how Dante looked before crossing the Primaris (he might still look the same, but the only image of him outside of his armor was when he was firstborn) and he's 1,500 years old, the oldest living loyalist marine in the setting. Now, maybe that's just exclusive to the Blood Angels because they have to resist their gene-flaw their entire lives, IDK, but still.
@@SoulBre4kerthere’s a few things
1: Dante has been managing the blood angels for about 3000 years and he is very stressed.
Most of the times when space marines age is not quite due to their genes but yeah this bastard has aged.
Secondly primarchs aren’t supposed to age, space marines are also supposed to be long lasting.
Yeah, we will see them age as shown by the iron warriors loyalist who was aged by hundreds if not thousands of years.

Woof!
All hail the borkfather!
@@considerthefollowing684 YES!
lol I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that
You mean furries
Magnus is a nerd, vulkan just too damn nice, rogal dorn is brutally honest, leman russ has a wolf fetish, perturabo is childish, fulgrim is always trying to beat the emperor in getting majestic hair
fulcrum 29 has _obviously_ seen "If the Emperor had a Text to Speech device"...
And Lorgar is a dumbass
+ Alpharius was manlet
“To this day, he has not succeeded.”
- Man-Emperor of Mankind
perturabo childish? Let's see how you would fair if the elder gods haunted your dreams.
- *Fulgrim:* penchant towards narcissism and perfectionism
- *Perturabo:* extreme paranoia
- *Jaghatai Khan:* susceptible to berserker rage
- *Lemann Russ:* have wolf characteristics and may devolve into wolf-like beasts during their ascension into Astartes or during their lives
- *Rogal Dorn:* no defect, one successor chapter's astartes suffer from catatonia
- *Conrad Kurze:* intrinsic pessimism; Librarians are susceptible to seizures when they have visions; physical pallor and dark eyes
- *Sanguinius:* the primarch had angel-like wings; Astartes are susceptible to a blood-thirst; Astartes are susceptible to berserker rage
- *Ferrus Manus:* primarch had his hands covered with necrodermis due to accident; Astartes suffer from body dysphoria and self-deprecation
- *Angron:* Primarch and Astartes are routinely implanted devices that increase battle performance while leaving them susceptible to corruption; innately gregarious but with a penchant towards bloodlust
- *Mortarion:* Pale and gaunt; resistance to contagion and toxins (actually an advantage?)
- *Magnus the Red:* red skin, extreme psychic power; Astartes have a high sensitivity to the Warp, sometimes manifesting in possession into Chaos Spawn
- *Lorgar:* theophilia, has a need to worship someone or something; high warp sensitivity
- *Vulkan:* physically strong, even for a Primarch; red eyes, coal black, heat resistant skin; high physical resilience; stubbornness;
- *Corvus Korax:* albino pale skin, black hair and black irises; Astartes lack of Mucranoid Gland and Betcher's Gland; Astartes susceptible to melancholy, narcissism and pessimism
- *Alpharius and Omegon:* high implantation success;
- *Roboute Guilliman:* no flaws, Primarch shows high resilience to corruption
- *Lion El'Jonson:* no flaws
- *Horus Lupercal:* no flaws, considered to be physically and mentally superior to other Primarchs, later found out to be extremely naive towards the warp and susceptible to corruption
@NurturingTalents not a lust, more a slight hubris based on the fact that he is amazingly good at organising politics.
You forgot that vulkan can regenerate
*- Angron:* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Angron doesn't have a genetic flaw to our knowledge, and the Butcher's Nails don't count as a genetic flaw
You nailed them! For Mortarion, I would say his trait is defiance. He was always defiant and had humanity towards fellow Legionaries. He did give in to Nurgle to save his sons after all.
Alpha legion flaw: Everyone is Alpharius.
Hydra Dominatus
A on even days. O on
Odd. Or maybe the other way. Idk. Flip a coin?
Ferrus Manus had arms covered in Necrodermis, not prosthetic replacements.
lonegoat81 you shouldn't mention that heresy(!) at loud...
Ferrus also hated the idea of replacing bits...
its true, Ferrus Manus planned to change the teachings of his Iron hands after the Great Crusade ended, get rid of the whole "bionics" and "flesh is weak" doctrine. this was actually influenced by the talks he had with Fulgrim (before Fulgrim went mad mind u...the real Fulgrim). Fulgrim often wondered if Manus and his legion were too reliant on the machine and bionics...if they had no faith in their flesh. with that in mind Ferrus Manus was going to re-educate his legion...but he never spoke to his men about it and before that could happen...ironically...the Horus Heresy occurred and Ferrus Manus was killed...so the Iron Hands eternally live a lie now...they think they know what is best for their legion...that this is what their Primarch wanted...but it wasn't.
There you are, Brothers....
"Leman Russ, also known as the Woof King and the Great Woof"??!!!?
Are you sure it was a "Genetic Flaw" that made the Iron Warriors hate the rest of the legions? Not the fact they were treated like trash by literally EVERYONE? Including dear old dad?
According to the Black Books - World Eaters are battle brothers with Iron Warriors
spoken like a son of iron
Why were they treated badly
Everyone considered them the garrison/ trench digger Legion. That and Perturabo was an architect at heart. He wanted to build cities, not serve as the meatgrinder Legion.
@@lordinquisitorsec7532 PROTURBO!!!!
@onemindsyndicate vestigal means left over, non-functional. Sanguinious 's wings were very much functional.
Bro they literally just read what other people have written down somewhere. There is 0 thinking to these
Vestigial doesn't actually mean non-functional, just no longer possessing the original function. Vestigial organs can still perform some functions.
I thought that most of sanguinous's flying ability cam from psycher powers
And Ferrus didn't have mechanised hands, they were coated in living metal.
@@KalleVilenius
Vestigial: degenerate, rudimentary, or atrophied, having become functionless in the course of evolution.
Vulcan for the win, Salamanders need a codex. "Into the fires of battle, unto the Anvil of War!"
Great job getting to 100k, where's that RUclips play button going to go?
Preach it, man!
Yeeeeesssss they do need a codex. My favorite by far great fluff with that chapter.
“And I probably didn't include a third primarch probably...maybe?”
Horus: rolls in his grave.
Horus: *gets dug up and killed again for moving in his grave*
The Salamander's flaw wasn't their skin changing. It was just their eyes. The skin change was a result of their station upon Nocturne making their defense against the environment kick into overdrive like Vulcan's did.
neither of those things were flaws; the ultraviolet rays of their sun caused their skin to go black and their eyes to go red. we have to remember all the Primarchs started out IDENTICAL...Vulkan wasn't black...he was white like the rest of them...but then he crashed onto Nocturne and he turned black and his eyes went red...the sun was unbearable. it was also the hottest time of year...so it was even worse. if he hadn't been a perpetual...he probably would have died. Vulkan's only gene flaw is that he is a perpetual...something he hid because it was such an OP ability.
Their skin does have a flaw. They absorb light much easier, causing black skin. On normal planets they still darken, but with nocturne being as it is they turn fully black quickly. Vulkan also didn't know he was perpetual until Istaavon V, when he was first killed.
Vulkans: he wasn't killed on Istvaan V, he was beaten to NEAR death by the Night Lords and then taken away by Konrad and tortured aboard his ship, he broke free and fought Konrad but escaped into the vacuum of space...he later crashed down on Macragge where the ultramarines found him and eventually he was returned to the Salamanders after a long time of recovering...it was after that Vulkan set out on a quest and never returned. he knew he was a perpetual...he just kept it quiet.
The colour change for both eyes and skin is indeed a flaw from the Mucranoid gland as it is for the raven guard.
@@IDyce88 If they are based on the Emperor shouldn't they be Middle Eastern
haha the spirit of the woof
Blood Angels will occasionally develop small wings during their transformation, these wings are removed.
You missed Horus Lupercal! The Warmaster, the Great Traitor!
Horus had no flaws... :D
Tarorc79 .....shit judgement?
hmmm, thats probably the opposite of the actual. he did have excellent command and knew how to use each of his brothers' legions. except the part where he turned to chaos, he was tricked and didnt have knowledge of chaos.
procar09 I refer you to the Abbadon quote regarding his dear gene-father
Thats who we missed. His gene seed was extremely pure.
I absolutely love your channel and the lore, every second of it. THANK YOU for creating these videos!
For the glory of the Emperor!
There's a theory the black Templar have a flaw that they feel dorn's rage when he chased chaos after the Horus heresy
I have a theory that one of the forgotten primarchs was a blank, as it is indicated that at least one primarch was expunged due to some genetic defect, and a blank is basically the only major mutation not accounted for within the primarchs.
A blank like no warp presence?
From what I understand the Dark Angels, Ultramarines and Grey Knights are the only chapters with “Pure” untainted geneseed.
And the luna Wolves before horus was injured
OneMindSyndicate Even in the current cannon of 40k it’s still pure?
Chaplain Aztar Iron Hands gene seed and Imperial Fists are also pretty damn pure sans the minor quirks.
OneMindSyndicate Depends on how you define flaws, you can argue that the Sons of Horus thing was a gene seed flaw. As its something random that doesnt seem intentional.
Why are Dark Angels so best? There is literally nothing bad in their history at all, and they are completely transparent and open about this. Lion a best, wolf a shit
Amazing videos. Absolutely awesome to listen to on my long drive to work. It also saves me time from having to tell my wife (who is using some parts of lores as ideas to write a current book) the lores and stories of questions she has.
Great video I like the longer more broader videos like this that cover a very wide variety of lore and I feel like that really catches the interest of new comers who will then want to find out more for themselves.
"Rowboat Girlyman was super perfect and any flaws totally weren't his fault." I know who's narrating this video, his name rhymes with "Matt Ward"
The only thing more obnoxious than 'The Ultramarines are the greatest marines!' is the existence of the Primaris. Who we can thank the Ultramines for supplying, apparently.
I always thought Sanguinius' Wings were functional and not vestigial, maybe check that...
Also, I love how cheesy Corvus Corax and the raven guard are with all their existential drama. They're up there in goofyness with the Space Wolves and their canine fixation. It's just too much, I can't take them seriously. Every time I remember the moment of Corax flying away into oblivion shouting "NEVERMOOOOREEeeeee..." I can't help laughing. That said, I wouldn't change it a bit. I think those silly details in a setting as grim as 40K make the whole thing much more entertaining.
canine fixation? What the wolf did you say, you wolfing wolf? Wolf...!
The word "Wolf" has been replaced by "Corgi", apparently. Which is unfortunate.
Love your guys content. And I've been wanting to get that starter box. I would also like to thank you listening to your lore videos in December of 2015 got me to start playing 40k. You would always stop and say I hope your painting is going well. Do finally i went online and bought assault on black reach. From there it took 5 months to get my first game but I love it. Thank you guys for getting me into the greatest hobby ever.
And for some reason I had to subscribe again
Had me going you guys Rock I swear sometimes it feels like you guys are just my buddies giving me info about the lore as we sit around and talk.
I do have to say though that the angels wings are not vestigial as they function, are completely advantageous and are a new mutation not a "vestige" of the species he evolved from.
Your right.
You're* :D
16:25 wait a god damn second. Say that again. Salamanders only darken due to heavy radiation? So hypothetically I could make am Axolotl chapter, write lore that they are a successor group, stick them in a low radiation zone or like under ground and they'd be white as Scandinavians? Thinking like a kinda white / light pearl color scheme.
Hypothetically, yes. Although they might be seen more as Night Lords or Raven Guard successors. That would be a fun dynamic of being Salamander successors that have to constantly prove such. However, it would also kinda mess with the whole 'we love using flames' thing the Salamanders have there.
The one that guilliman passed on was being the space marine equivalent of that kid that tries too hard to be valedictorian
you are the reason i know so much lore thanks for all the hard work
One possible reason for the later ultramarine flaws is they 'adopted' loyalist elements of the trators
that is true I forgot to mention that
Personally suspect Lamenters are a thousand sons chapter being punished by tzeench until they join their brothers
chris pilkington but Lamenters are blood angel's successors who have in recent times have started having issues with the Red thirst and black rage.
So, where did Abbadon inherit the genetic flaw of having no arms?
He inherit the flaw of constant failure.
He got from his mama
Nowadays his golden eyes are the biggest question mark about him.
Tell that to Cadia
Love this channel, listen to it every morning going into work in Alaska! Hope to keep hearing some great lore and 40 facts and maybe win a box set some day. Keep up the work!
thanks for all the videos , love the 40 facts
This episode got me thinking, It seems like they have a lot in common or in contrast. I'm sure you could organise this another 10 different ways but here is what I noticed.
Death Guard v Salamander = Resistance
World Eaters v Blood Angels = Anger
Black Legion v Ultramarines = Genericness/Size
Iron Warriors v Iron Hands = Robo fetish
Word Bearers v Dark Angels = Religiousness
Night Lords v Raven Guard = Egde
Alpha Legion v Imperial Fists = Tactics
Thousand sons v White Scars = Taking your homeworld to heart
Emperors Children v Space Wolves = Unflawed vs Flawed from the start
I dunno man. I like most of them, but Iron warriors are closer to Emperors fists
Yeah Imperial Fists are Siege masters and Iron Warriors are Fortification masters, that's already well established in the Lore. But when it comes to tacticians, Rogal Dorn is the only "Good" Primarch that could give Alpharius a run for his money. At least in my opinion.
Debatable, but I tend to agree. Rogal Dorn seems to be a good tactician, but I think Alpharius is not only a
great tactician, but a great strategist.
Actually it´s the other way round, both were experts at both things, though the Fists were regarded as superior in the defensive aspect.
Thats why the Fists were chosen to protect and fortify terra, which enraged Perturabo, causing him to taunt Dorn after the siege of terra with his own inassaultable fortress to prove the emperors choice wrong.
Also, the Word Bearers were the imperiums diplomats, so while they may not have been as compassionate as the Salamanders, they at least presented themselves in a similar light.
Also, some of your comparison don´t hold up either pre or post heresy.
The Black Rage of the Blood Angels only came into being after Sanguinias´ death, before that they weren´t really renouned for their excessive fury.
Post heresy the ultramarines were the first to reduce their numbers to codex compliancy, the largest chapter are the black templars, sons of Dorn.
The Dark Angels aren´t excessively religious although they have numerous allusions to mormon religion, they are more secretive, closer to the Alpha legion.
the dark angels arent religious though
Some call them flaws, but I believe the emperor was trying to create beings to challenge him in all aspects of his life so that he would have someone help him grow so he would not stagnate.
Thanks for your amazing videos !!!
Love the videos as always!
Doesn't the Emperor's Children have the blight? The genetic flaw that nearly wiped them out and prompted Fabius to study genetics?
You're right i forgot to talk about this. Its not an inherent flaw but rather a mutation that happened after the implantation process was sped up on corrupted gene seed. Just like what Corax did with his legions gene seed. Thanks for pointing that out.
Since it's not an inherent flaw, does that mean if the original Gene Seed was used once again, the Blight wouldn't be an issue?
Zakery Fyke if it is an acquired flaw, the original gene seed should not have the flaw.
even without the blight...the Emperor's Children were always obsessed with perfection...they had to embody it and glorify the Emperor...the second they screwed that up Fulgrim was like "NO...i will not accept that i just killed my brother Manus...i would rather let madness consume me than accept it...i cannot do somethnig so imperfect!" ok i went a little overdramatic there but u get the gist XD
It's still ironic as fuck that the chapter with a black majority was stained coal black
Onemindsydicates gene flaw is the inability to consistently pronounce the word wolf constantly switching to woof then back to wolf. His children have seemed to have carried on this flaw and struggle to read the three little pigs and little red riding hood.
champ8605 Better watch what you say, that's Heresy against the Emperber
I have always loved the videos on the Primarchs as well as the videos on the fan made armies. In fact, it was the fan made chapters videos that have been inspiring me to further develope the back story of my own chapter in the hopes that they might be the topic of a future video
Keep up the good work guys. I'm listening to you while painting. Thanks!
One mind Syndicate is my favorite daily RUclips stop. You guys have really helped me grow the hobby
Question: do chainswords idle like a modern chain saw. Or do they spin up in an instant? Like an electric chain saw? Like wise do power/ force weapons make like lightsaber noises? My local group was playing a Deathwatch rpg game and the question came up while “sneaking”
Power weapons and chain weapons usually have to be turned on before going into battle and can be switched off by a single button press. As powe weapons look like a regular weapon with lightning arcing on it I would say that the crackle like sparks
Heresy! There are NO flaws!🔪💀
The biggest flaw is their devotion to the emperor
OneMindSyndicate HERESY!
OneMindSyndicate is that heresy coming from you I smell?

jfwizard1 I wish, but no can do at work rn
You are wrong on a lot of these!
The Wolves ALL have yellow, black pinned eyes and they don't get leathery skin, they get pale and translucent skin with age, just like Longfang in Prospero Burns.
The Fists don't have acid spit.
The Emperor's Children have a compulsion to vanity.
The Iron Warriors are morose, have terrible tempers, and will not relent, even when it is victory to do so.
The Iron Hands have more resilient flesh as well, this was indicated as Erebus was trying to sacrifice them.
The Death Guard are resilient and enduring.
The Thousand Sons have the flesh change.
The Blood Angels have the red thirst.
The World Eaters were blood thirsty beyond advantage or reason.
The Word Bearers didn't really have any overt flaws, only having an inclination to faith.
The Salamanders had burned skin and red, glowing eyes, the Salamanders' natural state was viscous commitment and self destruction. This was solved by Vulkan's tempering of his sons. This is well outlined in Old Earth.
The Alpha Legion is not only secretive and deceptive, but is prone to over-complication.
The three you didn't list were Horus, Guilliman, and Jonson. These three had remarkably pure gene seed, particularly the 1st and 13th Legions. Before then Rangdan Xenocide, the 1st Legion was the largest legion by a large margin. After losing a large percentage of their Legion, they were a close second.
You had great information on the 19th though.
King Baldwin IV actually the World Eaters only went crazy after they met up with Angron who did to them what was done to him which is also why he went ape shit they all had the butcher's nails implanted in them, and Space wolves skin does turn thicker and more leathery over time
That is not a consistent trait for the 6th legion, at least during the Heresy.
One is a lie of omission, the other is a lie of commission. Both show a crap job.
So make some more great excuses for not doing a complete job, super. It is not insignificant if it is one of the clearly stated textual flaws.
This is a bad job. It represents incomplete research and the fact that the group has a poor handle on 40k.
Try Tactica Imperialis or 40K Theories, they don't botch simple videos.
King Baldwin IV "As a Space Wolf warrior grows older his hair turns course and wiry, turning a particular shade of grey, and his canines lengthen into true, wolf-like fangs. Even his skin becomes thicker and more leathery like a wolf pelt and all Space Wolf Marines are usually quite hirsuite. These traits in their fully matured form are usually emblematic of a Space Wolf who has become a Grey Hunter, " this has been the standard passage for the space wolf gene seed effects on a Space Wolf since I first started reading about 40k way back in the day
michaelkeha, good for you, it is apparently not canon.
Longfang is described very differently in Prospero Burns by the best author that GW has.
Jarl Og, Lord Gun, and others flatly deviate.
Added to that were the telltale descriptions of other more aged, senior wolves, and many Jarls. The descriptions do not comport with your description.
All of the wolves' eyes are yellow pinned with black as the standard.
