"Solo a star wars story is most people least favourite star wars story,"....Hi, I'm the Rise of Skywalker, nice to meet you.
“Star Wars Christmas Special” snickers before forced back into obscurity by George Lucas hahaha
Seriously though, that’s the one film, Star Wars or otherwise, Lucas regrets. Not even Howard the Duck reached that level
Right… If you think Solo is the worst Star Wars movie, you’re insane
Rise was better than Last Jedi. It's a low bar.
@@davidwiley4953 nah last Jedi is better trying to do something different and failing is at least admirable just regurgitating the same thing over and over again like rise of Skywalker did is just pathetic and bad.
@@badman3000 Last Jedi was the worst Star Wars film. Even worse than the Holiday Special.
Solo was hamstrung by being the next Star Wars movie after The Last Jedi. They pissed off a considerable amount of their fan base, then that fan base didn't show up. Same thing happened with the Secrets of Dumbledore.
Exactly, could have stopped there.
They gotta remember those Dans are very important lol. They gotta make sure the Dans as well as the David’s are happy 😂
Not true. The problem was: its a bad film. The public didn't like it. Fans have MUCH less impact than they think they do. The reason the halon movie was cancelled is the director said "every person that's ever brought a halon game would have to see it 3 times for it to break even"
Solo a Star Wars Story is Citizen Kane in comparison to The Last Jedi
The bar is on the floor
did you mean "the rise of skywalker"?
@@chrisjulian6871 God no at least that is watchable in a so bad its good sort of way The Last Jedi is just a steaming pile the moment it starts
It’s a better Star Wars movie than the entire sequel trilogy.
Alien 3 was setup for failure. Alien and Aliens were just fantastic. Both diverse, expanding the universe with groundbreaking effects and amazing world development.
There was (and is) no way to top Aliens. Every attempt since then has failed to come close to the success of this first sequel.
Absolutely no way to top Aliens yo!
The list of sequels better than the original is a very, very short one. Aliens, Terminator 2, and Empire Strikes Back come to mind. Doubly sad because the original script for Alien 3 is infinitely more interesting than the malarkey that we got. Charles S. Dutton killed it though
Game over, man!
@@palazzo1113 Bill Paxton, only man to make the 20th Century Fox Trifecta. Killed by The Terminator, Aliens, and The Predator.
@@DairyElemental you're gotdang right, my friend.
"Don't worry Darling" had so much potential, but it was let down by the execution. Ultimately, the behind the scenes drama would make a more compelling watch, and Florence, Chris and Gemma all delivered solid performances.
Dumbest twist since serenity
@@Spawnwick_Boseman82820 The problem with a movie where the heavy handed message comes before the story is that you can tell where it’s going. I knew from the first time I saw the trailer that it would have a twist akin to what we got. It’s a shame that Florence Pugh (who turned in a great performance) wasted her time on this turd.
It's almost like these leftist movies that they think are so clever always bomb when they tell half the population to not watch. Claiming Jordan B Peterson was the basis for the antagonist and calling him an incel pretty much guaranteed noone with any independent political thought was going to waste their time on it
It was shit
Will Smith got paid to play Will Smith. That’s 76% of film actors. They know their niche and play up to it.
76% is a really spot on percentage lmao what took you to 76 and not 75 or 80 lolol
@@yallTweakin Sometimes actors grow up. Or they just learn what earns a high paycheck and stop caring.
My great aunt was the continuity expert on the set of Casino Royal.
In Fox's defense, they HAD to make another Fantastic Four movie or risk losing the license. Admittedly, they didn't have to make THAT Fantastic Four, but they had to produce something, so why not utter garbage?
As for Solo, Disney should have taken notes from Fox's X-Men Origins movie and passed on an origin story for their mysterious rogue. Any fan-favorite character with a mysterious past will lose all appeal when you actually explore that past, partly because nothing you ever film will match what fans have in their minds, but mostly because it just reveals that the people making the movies have no idea what makes the character interesting to fans.
7:03-7:10 "Whatever else it amy be, Casino Royale is simply a good example of the Americans not really understadning what makes British fair tick"
But Casino Royale (1967) IS a British film. Columbia distributed it, bu it was made by the British. Same for the other Bond films.
No it wasn't. It was originally pursued by an American that then hired 2 American directors (they were top cast billing) 2 Brits, and 1 scot director for American audiences to transition the bond ip into America
"Ron Howard of the Da Vinci Code and the Grinch fame"
Yes because when I think of Ron Howard, those are the first movies I think of.
Neither was he "a replacement actor"
Episode 9 beats out Solo for me for most reviled Star Wars movie. First Star Wars movie I fast forwarded.
To this day I have not finished watching TROS. I feel as though I have watched it many many times.
No.1 should be The Flash.
Regarding the 1967 Casino Royale- David was actually Ian Fleming’s first choice for the role of James Bond.
Surprised that GI Joe Origins Snake Eyes wasn’t on this list.
People would have to remember it existed for it to be on the list.
Nitpicking, I know, but Lou Reed's "noise" album was Metal Machine Music, not Metal Music Machine.
I still want a Solo sequel
@@justincoleman3805 "There can be only one !". Though a Solo/Highlander Xover could be interesting.
Keep wanting.
Solo isn't star wars fans least liked movie, episode 9 is the least liked
I actually loved Alien³ I went to see it in theaters in the 90s like 10 times. It was so gritty and dark.
No lie, I thought it was a hit when I saw it. The entire audience applauded at the end. I didn't know it was supposed to terrible until the critics weighed in. 😒😒
I am also somewhat biased towards Ali3n. It was filmed at Blyth power station, my grandad worked there at the time and I was there for some of the filming
@@scottyp3876 wow, that such a great anecdote. :)
I knew it sucked on first view as did everyone I knew. Critics can't kill a good movie.
Casino Royale was a campy weird romp, I liked it
It gets even worse with Don’t Worry, Darling that it’s one of the only 2 movies that Warner Bros. Discovery made this year despite the really troubled development and with the company making very stupid decisions lately (this being one of them) during the merger, it hits even harder.
I grew up on Casino Royale and I love it. It's a madcap mashup mindfuck!
After watching Sol I just felt bad for Alden Ehrenreich. His performance was remarkable, but that's irrelevant. He was tasked to remake one of the most iconic and charismatic characters in movie history. It's known Lucas cared little about directing the actors during A New Hope, so most of Han's quirks come from Harrison Ford.
I enjoyed the story arch of Solo, but was not as crappy a movie as some critics mad it out to be.
yes it was
its a good film
@@Scifi4life it's awful what are you talking about.
@@blairpenny1526 watch it again.
@@Scifi4life I have they literally made an entire movie to try and justify the ships running out of fuel in their other terrible Star Wars movie
MANY singers are also outstanding actors! Think Ice T, Ice Cube, Cher, Barbara Streisand, and Lady Gaga. Just because someone chose music as their main career doesn’t automatically mean they can’t act!
Justin Timberlake?
@@yudhabagaskara98 - not trying to name EVERY singer who is also an actor...
I'll never understand how anyone who saw The Last Jedi could honestly say Solo was the worst Star Wars movie.
Alien3 is a great film. I see it as part of a trilogy. The other movies after that doesn’t exist.
It's shit. You liking it doesn't make it good.
Despite 2000's Branca De Neve being based on Robert Walter's play of Snow White. The film has no connection to the fairy tale of Snow White. Instead, Branca is a reimagining of Robert Walter's Snow White play with a narration and a blocked off screen. The films poster show four people, three of them standing up while the fourth person is unconscious on the floor. The setting is depicted on a cabin with the weather being snowy. Taking place in the modern times. I wish there more mainstream or independent films done in a similar style to Branca De Neve.
The reason why Branca De Neve was made. Is because the producer of this film, earn money payment from the institute of cinema. The director explains that his film, was to film it in a pitch black out of spite to the film's producer. And the director refused to donate any cash production to institute of cinema. He chose taxpayers to promote the film. Also know as tax loophole shelter. A method to lower or avoid tax expenses. Tax evasion is not really a good idea. It can be get in small trouble. Me, I consider this idea of writing down tax expenses as cooperate greed and negligence for people who aren't able write down tax checks. Tax loophole shelter, was done first by the director of Branca De Neve. Before film directors like Uwe Boll used tax loophole shelter to lower expensive tax costs. He wasn't really doing tax evasion. An article on the CBR website said that Uwe Boll, was doing things like 'tax evasion'. But I wholeheartedly disagree here! Mr. Uwe Boll wasn't really doing tax evasion. It is illegal, Uwe Boll denied this method. He wanted to lower taxes in order to justify making films and writing down tax checks. This method of lowering taxes and the reason to write down tax payments. And should have been accepted in today's economic. It could have been helpful to the poor sections of the entire globe and the economy. But the globes governments, are shutting down the concept and idea of tax loophole shelter and taxpayers in 2006. Maybe it's because of the financial crisis that occurred in 2007. Or the governments are trying to deny any existence of taxpayers to the media and the world. It's no wonder the film director of Branca De Neve, had to use support taxpayers to finish the film in order to be materialized. That's how the film Branca De Neve was made.
Take a shot every time he calls a director an actor…
Had to pause after the Branca de Neve part to regain composure before continuing the video. That was EPIC
Only considered the worst Star Wars film because the Disney sequels don't even qualify as Star Wars films!
Branca De Neve, was the only film to be an experiment on this list. I consider this film as art. I never noticed the director of this film, has sadly passed away. Oh, My bad.
The Branca De Neve entry might be the single greatest edited entry in WhatCulture history.
Solo is not the worst Star Wars film! It flopped because Harrison Ford is still alive and although the new guy did well with the nuances of Han, he just didn’t look close enough to Ford…maybe someone like Scott Eastwood would’ve looked a little closer to Ford…that was my initial reaction as soon as the film started and bothered me the entire film even with all the fun throughout…
Actually it flopped because it had the bad fortune of being the next film after the dumpster fire that was The Last Jedi
@@Daeduluus Infinity War: It's also my fault this spin off flopped
@@nestorsifuentesaguirre2722 Oh guarantied Disney was definitely not thinking right for schedules should have held off till December for it
I like how you used subtitles to excuse the lack of footage for the # 7 entry. I bet that film is the easiest watch for any viewer since its mostly a black screen like you said.
Heaven’s Gate was missed.
A way more expensive and dangerous retelling of Deer Hunter
Jules, you're an absolute jewel. I hope you're treating yourself well, drinking plenty of water and getting good restful sleep. Much love to you❤❤
This guy really thinks Solo: A Star Wars Story is most peoples least favorite SW movie? That not the impression I got from the internet.
I don’t agree about Fantastic Beasts The secrets of Dumbledore being bad. I liked it a lot better than the second movie The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Solo is pretty good. Just a solid stand alone Star Wars film that's a good ride from beginning to end.
Good acting, good effects and a great score.
Solo is a really fun "heist" movie set in space, but unfortunately it's also a terrible Star Wars movie
It was the shit sequel movie released first that sank Solo, not really the film itself.
That, and anyone *but* Ron Howard should've directed it.
🍄
@@DairyElemental Star Wars is too big a franchise at this point to be limited to a specific genre. A “good Star Wars movie” can be anything, from a western to a racing movie.
Honestly if it wasn't for having to reshoot most of it driving the budget up it probably would be remembered as more of a middle of a road film instead of getting dunked on.
@@Macapta But haven't you wondered what has Rogue One done to succeed where Solo failed???
Ron Howard was replacement Director unless I’m very much mistaken.
He did that at least twice.
@@blakeharris58 Shame it wasn’t re-recorded as that’s hardly difficult. Probably the Editor’s decision. Anyway, Jules is far and away my favourite presenter on the channel. I suppose he’s allowed one mistake per list?
@@foleywallace459 like I said he did it at least twice😂
He was acting as replacement director?
What rules or practices would you install into the entertainment industry to ensure these type of shenanigans will not happen again?
Complete control, but also an attitude that will allow people to listen to you and accept their own ideas in turn.
Peter Sellers seems like he was impossible to work with. It's unfortunate. It's a wonder any good movies were made with him at all, let alone so many classics like the Pink Panther movies, Being There, and Dr. Strangelove.
🤦♂️. SOLO was awesome! They took some liberties from the books, but it was great!
Is this a motion picture?
This one has rare genius. Most of these lists seem so pasted together at the last second.
I usually agree with your stuff, but Solo (messy that it was) worse than either TLJ or RoS (depending on your camp)? Ehhhh....Don't agree on that one.
Rogue One interestingly enough was in the end the only spin off that mattered
As Optimas Prime one said 'You didn't betray me you betrayed yourself
As a Star Wars fan I didn`t hate Han Solo, it was actually even enjoyable, much better than 8th & 9th episodes of main story which were actually quite boring.
Entry number 7 has to be the best Whatculture moment ever.
Anyone else notice he calls directors *actors* a few times?
Yep. And is totally wrong about which Star Wars film is the least favourite. Comments here prove that.
@@stephenkeen5737 I agree. I watched Solo recently. It’s pretty good if one doesn’t try to pick apart everything about it in comparison to the original films.
So, you're complaining that not every super hero film doesn't look like a Marvel one?
I’ll take Solo over any of the sequel trilogy.
I think Solo: A Star Wars Story serves as a good example of how Disney really hasn't grasped what makes good Star Wars content (with the exception of The Mandalorian, which has turned out to be pretty good). Almost everything they produce is a prequel that leans heavily on Easter eggs and cameo appearances. (To be fair, even The Mandalorian did this, but at least it made good use of the cameo.) Every five minutes of Solo was "Here's the origin story of...".
Instead of giving us a real insight into how he became the rogue he turned into, we got "How Han Got His Stuff".
My unpopular opinion is that Alien 3 was still okay.
"Solo: A Star Wars Story" was hamstrung by being the next Star Wars movie released after "The Last Jedi" which was divisive, to say the least. As a standalone Star Wars movie, it was a good movie.
I agree. I loved SOLO.
Okay I don't care what anyone says I saw don't worry darling. I absolutely loved it it was interesting had one of the unique stories ever and it's one of my favorite movies of the year.
LMAO the editors didn't get lazy haha
Regardless of your thoughts on Solo and Secrets of Dumbledore, the fact that they're on a list with disasters like Fantastic Four and Suicide Squad is ridiculous. I love them and everyone I know either loved them or thought they were perfectly average.
Secrets of Dumbledore was a disappointment. The creatures were under utilized, lots of whining about past mistakes, and no Katharine Waterston in a bob. What were they thinking?
@@mikespangler98 but can you tell me it's worse than Suicide Squad?
@@TheSupermoviemaker I can. suicide squad had Margo Robbie acting nuts. At least it had consistent comic relief.
@@mikespangler98 *SGREED!* So much more of both SUICIDE SQUAD movies worked than probably should have. I even enjoyed BoP, I literally paid to watch Margot Robbie eat a sandwich!😂🤣
the story behind the making of the Han Solo movie is more interesting than the movie itself
Lmao sounds like WB likes screwing up their films lmao
Josh Trank is a director, not an actor.
As is Ron Howard 😂. He really screwed that up eh.
Jules!!!!! What happened to your wee uplifting speech at the end? 😭
Any of the recent Star Wars trilogy could be on here. So much potential, such a hard flop.
Ron Howard I forgot that he was a well known actor 😂😂😂
@@briansullivan5908 yea shit! True but he’s made way more of a name and a successful career as a director cmon, am i right?
10:06 Ezra Miller on a Tuesday 🤣🤣

Better than Harry Styles.
1:30 and 11:15 does he say actor or director?
Actor. He meant director. Oops
Who cares.
@@PabloCruise1 lots of people. See other comments.
I don’t care what anyone says “Solo” was a good movie better than the sequel trilogy and I would have liked to see more of those characters at that time in the Star Wars universe.
All of them have bts drama tho. But Solo has shockingly worse bts drama. If this spinoff gets a sequel let's hope no one's at each other's throats
Just watched "Don't Worry, Darling", I thought it was an interesting take on a Stepford Wives meets the Matrix hybrid, but was definitely a mess in many places. I couldn't even finish the Secrets of Dumbledore.
It's Metal Machine Music
Thank you for including the negligence in punctuation in the title of Don't Worry Darling among your complaints. Without the comma, it looks like "Don't Worry" is modifying "Darling," which lends it a 1930s romantic screwball comedy vibe.
Let's be honest now. Dumbledore "failing" had more to do with fans mad at WB with how they handled the Jonny Depp/Amber Heard situation. A backlash they're going to get again with Aquaman 2 if she's not edited out of it!
It baffles me as to how they keep screwing up the Fantastic 4 and the Dr. Doom origins. Pretty basic- the FF go into space, cosmic rays turn them into the Fantastic 4. Dr. Doom (a college rival of Reed Richards) does not go into space with them but blames Reed for a failed experiment that disfigured him. Doom goes back to his home country and uses science (2nd smartest scientist in earth) and some of the arcane to create Dr. Doom. He then continues to plague the FF--that's it. It is so easy--quit messing it up!! Also, Solo was better than the last 2 Disney Star Wars movies
Aw man. I liked Solo. An odd film but enjoyable to me
You're right: the Star Wars prequels WERE reviled...until the sequels came out, and people realized how bad those movies can be.
Nice.
hi
You mean things don’t always go as planed?Nonsense! 🙃
Am I trippin for thinking solo is not bad. Like its one of those turn ur brain off fun adventure films. Like some of ya'll really forgot the standards of other star wars movies if you think solo is one of the worse.
Solo is one of the best Star Wars films. The first two trailers destroyed the possibly of it killing at the box office by taking performances out of context.
Absolutely love Alien 3
We don’t care.
And movie developers took away the wrong lesson from Solo. Instead of fixing bad writing and lazy production, they decided that recasting younger versions of important characters with different actors was the thing that broke the movie, so they’re just going to impose the faces of the famous actors onto the faces of stuntmen with CGI and that’s apparently going to fix everything.
the Retaliators wasn't the best but I liked it
I feel SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY was set-up to fail, so people would reconsider Ruin Johnson's Sabotage -Job...
'Disney damned itself by spending 300 M on a film that only returned 390 M!"
?!
That's a 90 M profit. Disney should damn itself more often.
"Most people's least favourite Star Wars movie"? What are you basing that on?
I liked Alien 3. It was different but still entertaining.
Fantastic Beasts is cursed, I tell you. I just feel bad for the main four characters and actors, coz they seem to be the only sane once. Okay, Dan Fogler and sane? Not really. But still. The series promised so much with movie 1, it hurts to be a fan of it.
What? No "BROS", mention?
Lol!
Solo is a great movie, though. It’s infinitely better than the horror-show that was Episode IX, that’s for sure.
But the bts drama trashed it more than the sequels. And that's before we got the DWD bts drama
Solo is pretty good though, certainly not the worst Star Wars movie. Fun little thing.
Do like Jules’ humour and positive messages, but can’t agree with Solo as number 1. My opinion only, so have some patience with me, but I had no real issue with it, especially compared with the episodes 8 and 9… there was also the attempt at feature releasing the Clone Wars, which beloved the series may have become, as a film, was shog dit.
I would like to start a production company where I supply money to people who know what they're doing for fans who know the material. You know...like back when movies were good.
I thought Solo and Crimes of Grindelwald were actually really good. I’m just waiting for the BTS documentary of Don’t Worry Darling
I don't hate Solo as a whole. There are parts that I actually enjoy but also parts that I really struggle to watch. I definitely hate The Last Jedi and Rise Of Skywalker far more though! Those movies can't blame troubled production!
Solo is not the worst Star Wars movie. Ep2, 8 & 9 are much worse.
No fan asked for a Solo movie but we got one anyways. Is it bad? Imo, it's watchable. Not great but not awful either
I like Secrets of Dumbledore!! Of course, I enjoy anything in the series.....no matter what anyone else thinks!!!
Trying not to piss off the Mouse House for ad revenue?? Solo (or even the prequels) is nowhere near as hated as the sequals and was also hampered by angry fans after the Last Jedi
Casino Royale was actually the best James Bond. The Brits are actually going to follow the film's lead by making James Bond played by others, just like Royal...
Whilexmaybe not on par with the original 3 Star Wars movies I LIKED 9th Solo and Rogue 1
👽 as Trilogy 👍
