At the audition, the guy with the megaphone saying their music was “Too darn loud” is Huey Lewis. Huey Lewis wrote the songs for the movie and his group, Huey Lewis and the News, performed them.
There are a lot of those hidden gems. Especially when Marty returns to the present. When he comes back to the mall parking lot, the sign reads "Lone Pine Mall", because Marty destroys one of the pines, as he pulls out of the barn.
I feel so sorry for Michael. He has severe Parkinsons. He can barely walk or talk. He collapsed on a couch during the latest convention for the movies. He did amazing in the movies.
Robert Gale and Robert zemeckis wanted to get Michael J fox whenever they first explored the script for this movie but he was unavailable at the time so they hired that kid that played in that movie mask with Cher what was his name the guy that played Lance on Pulp Fiction the heroin dealer, anyway they secured Michael J fox after they shot like half of the movie and had to go back and reshoot the whole movie over again you should watch the behind the scenes it's really good
"Chuck! Chuck! It's Marvin! You're cousin, Marvin BERRY? You know that new sound you're looking for? Well listen to THIS!" Still one of the greatest name-drops in movie history. And in a bit of irony, I've seen plenty of interviews with Thomas F. Wilson, the actor who plays Biff. He's actual a really nice, personable guy. Funny how the actors who play the biggest jerks tend to be the exact opposite in real life. Another fun fact - if you react to the video of the song "Why Don't You Get a Job?" by The Offspring, you'll see the clock tower from this movie in the background. :) Yeah, for real!
I’ve actually seen his stand up routine. He usually begins it with a song he wrote called “Questions” where he answers FAQs he gets. Stuff like “Was the manure real?” (No) “What is Crispin Glover like?” (“Unusual”) or “Back to the Future 4?” (It’s not happening!).
I've had more pleasant interactions and conversations at conventions with the actors who've played villains versus the ones who play the heroes for some reason.
My child liked this movie so I saw it 100 times before the VHS tape broke and I can tell you that of all the movies I've seen this movie does not have one wasted scene. Every scene moves the story forward.
BTTF is like The Predator. Nothing wasted, everything moves the story forwards from plot point to plot point. An expertly crafted movie, from everyone. Very few movies are as well paced as this one.
Late 80's we provided full service at the gas station. Gas, check oil, check and fill tires, windows washed, and change on our person for whatever you bought.
When Marty got back home that night, he wasn't gone for a week. He was only gone for an hour or two. He returned 10 minutes before he actually left. To Marty, it was a week, but to his girlfriend and family, it was the next morning. Bravo to you both! Keep the great reactions coming.
@@wisdomoftheearlychristians2037 Actually average IQ has gone up since the'80s, thanks to the banning of leaded car fuel. :) A large reason for the inner city crime waves of the '80s was because of lead poisoning originating from car exhaust pollution... Sounds crazy perhaps, but it's true. :)
I love the fact that he filmed both BTTF and Family Ties at the same time. I can just imagine him being found by the crew sleeping between scenes in a twisted heap like Marty does because he's so sleep deprived.
And let's not forget his starring role in Teen Wolf (the 1980s movie, not the 2010s MTV TV series based on the movie). I think I watched just about everything Michael J. Fox was in during the 1980s and 1990s. I had such a crush on him.
I am the same way. I wanted to be Michael J Fox and Alex P Keaton when I was a kid. All the while I was entirely unaware that MJF was actually a big leftie along with the rest of Hollywood. Keaton was created as a character to articulate tropes about Republicans in the 80s but actually came off as relatable to the very people the writers of Family Ties were trying to lampoon. I think also that character was interesting juxtaposing him beside his democrat parents informed by the 60s. It was a great show, Alex was a great character, and their are few actors who better personify the optimistic spirit of the 80s than Michael J Fox.
@@KevinSchmitt77 I think i read something about that. Fox would film Family Ties during the day and BTTF at night. He worked 20 hours a day for several months. Pretty crazy but I guess when you are young and have the opportunity to do it you do it. Fox replaced Eric Stoltz btw as Marty McFly halfway into the production of that film.
A cool little feature is that the mall is called Twin Pines Mall named after Peabody having two pine trees, but when Marty flees the farm he runs over one. When Marty returns to the present the mall is called Lone Pine Mall.
The Delorean was a real car made of stainless steel with gull-wing doors! There is a gold-plated one here in Reno at the National Automobile Museum! Loved seeing the 50s set at Universal Studios in California! Fun movie and fun cameo with Huey Lewis as the guy who tells the band that they’re too loud!! I love how your previous music reactions come back around in the movies!! Fun watching you two!!
Commercially, if I recall the car was a dud. If you were parked in a garage or next to another car you couldn’t open the doors. Tesla took that into consideration with their more recent car with gull-wing doors.
@@billcrose3442 um… Delorean Motor Company. John DeLorean. Not the American Motor Company that made the Rambler in the 60s and went on to merge with Jeep to make the Eagle, and Pacer. Or… did I miss something??
Oh my God Jay!? When you said, "Why do the older days look so much better?" I could have cried. You have made me feel as though I now belong in an old folks home for being 20 when this film came out.
Tiny moment - the comic the young boy held up in the barn was "Zombies from Pluto" - plutonium being the one thing thing they required to send Marty home :)
15:13 Yep!! Ronald Reagan starred in at least 40 movies during his career in Hollywood! And that was how he met and married Nancy Davis, who was also a movie star at the time. It was also one of many ways he spoke to and comforted millions of Americans during hard times which, when he became a politician, earned him the nickname "the Great Communicator". :)👍 And another fun fact, when President Reagan saw this gag at a premiere of "Back to the Future" at the White House, he laughed at the gag so hard, that he asked the projectionist to rewind and play the scene one more time. 😆😄😆😄😆
"Was A Delorean A Real Car?" It most certainly is, Amber The Delorean DMC 12 was introduced in 1982 and founded by John Delorean The car was built out if stainless-steel body panels and powered by a Renault engine and those doors are actually called "Gull Wing Doors"
I remember the Chevy dealership that was in my neighborhood had a Delorean in the showroom and if the sales people were distracted we would go in and sit in it. It was a damn cool car.
I've met Tom Wilson (Biff). He is the nicest guy ever. And really funny! He said he had a real problem with the car scene. At one point, Lea Thompson assured him that she was alright and that they were just acting.
I’ve seen this movie countless times. I saw it when it first came out too. I just appreciate it more and more as the decades go by. It’s a real gem and it’s now a real classic belter ❤
When you watch the movie again, be on the lookout for the more subtle changes that happened after Marty returns to 1985. One is the name of the mall was changed from Twin Pines Mall to Lone Pine Mall (Marty killed one of Peabody's pines). Also, when doc was on the clock tower in 1955, a piece of the ledge broke off. It is still broken when Marty returns to 1985, but it wasn't before he left.
The one that I never see mentioned is that both Marty and Doc took a knock to the noggin to the same side of the head, both very life altering when they came to. And it isn't entirely clear, but I think it happened to both of them November 5 1955.
When Marty came back to his time, shouldn't his parents have recognized him from 1955? I've seen this movie many times since it first came out, yet I couldn't tell if they did or not.
I grew up in the 80's and have seen this movie more times than I can count, constant repeat on video tape back then. The fact there are people who've never seen it is crazy to me, but what a treat ur in for!
Guys, you have to watch part 2 and 3 ...immediately 😄🤣 Do not spend too much time between one and the other, this trilogy is like a single film..and full of details. Good reaction 😉👍🏻
Back in 1997 I rented all 3 movies from Blockbuster, knowing full well that I was moving to a different part of the country the next day. Watched those movies over and over until the tape disintegrated!!
A perfect movie. You can watch this over and over and it never gets old. Brilliant concept and execution. Christopher Lloyd's facial expressions deserve their own award.
@Rob Squad Movie Reactions I’ll bet you didn’t notice that a different actor played Marty’s dad in this sequel. Crispin Glover, the actor who starred in the original movie, actually sued the studio. They had kept a mold of his face from the first movie and made prosthetics from it so that the replacement actor would resemble Crispin as closely as possible. The suit resulted in the screen actors guild making a law that now prevents a persons likeness being copied and passed off as being the same actor.
Christopher Lloyd does such a fantastic job as Doc. He brings such an endearing quirkiness to the character. He loves playing Doc so much and loves to go to any Back to the Future event. He and Michael J. Fox have been really good friends to this day. Their chemistry is what makes the film and the series. Christopher Lloyd really shines in the 3rd film in which he has a really sweet romance with Mary Steenburgen's character.
I loved Michael J Fox when this came out. He was starring on Family Ties at the time. Huey Lewis also was my Mom’s crush. DeLorean is definitely a real car. A friend of mine even had one back in the 90’s. Yes Ronald Reagan was indeed an actor. There are 3 of these awesome movies.
This movie is taught in screenwriting classes as the perfect script. Every line is there for a reason, every plot point has a set up and a payoff. Themes are introduced and repeated for a paid off as well. Oh and they put real alcohol in the flask when Marty takes it from Lorraine to prank Michael j Fox. in the car scene.
Is that true, that it's taught in classes? I don't necessarily doubt it, there's definitely a skill to writing these more, shall we say light weight movies. Especially the ones that people still enjoy watching 30-40 years later. I'm just curious if it's true.
@@treetopjones737 Interesting. It would probably have been a very different movie with Eric in the lead. He has a certain swag, whereas Michael has a nervous energy that endeared him to a lot of teenage girls. And it fit the plot quite nicely, of course.
Ah, you mentioned the Breakfast Club - one of my favorites. I also loved Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, and St. Elmo's Fire. So many 80's movies are with me forever.
Real genius, less than zero, the outsiders, all the romancing the stone films, fletch, war games, say anything, The explorers, any Cheech and Chong film. So many great films in the 80’s. Far too many to name.
@@jayconant3816 Real Genius is one of my favorites. Favorite line? Here is mine. Susan : Can you hammer a six-inch spike through a board with your penis? Chris Knight : Not right now. Susan : A girl's gotta have her standards.
OMG yes. It's kind of on the same "branch" as Raiders of the Lost Ark (starring Han Solo, Harrison Ford, in his biggest starring role EVER), another movie that is a must see.
James Tolkan, who plays Principal Strickland, is also in Top Gun. This is a wonderful trilogy. i hope you guys watch parts 2 and 3 as well! you'll love them!
20:29 Me, the 30th time I watched this movie: Ohhh, Doc doesn't have a permit, he's just bribing the cop. Jay, the 1st time he watched this movie: He's just slipping him some cash.
I love that you guys are becoming so well versed in old school music through your other channel. It’s gonna make this journey through these movies that much more enjoyable as these artists pop up within them.
The TV show that his father is watching in 1985 and his mother's family is watching in 1955 (and Marty refers to as a rerun) is "The Honeymooners" which is such a classic show that it's still being shown on TV today and can also be seen on You Tube.
When this movie came out in 1985 I was just getting out of bootcamp for the Navy and didn't get a chance to see it in the theater, but when it came out on HBO, I got to see it for the first time. I fell in love with this movie and have seen it so many times I cannot count. I really enjoyed watching you two trying to understand references that you are just too young to have gotten. The funniest part was when you didn't know that Ronald Reagan was an actor before he became a politician. Oh, and yes, Delorean is a real car. Fun fact, one of the originals that were made for this movie (there were 5 made) was painstakingly restored by Christopher LLoyd (and friends) and given to Michael J Fox to raise money for his foundation for fighting Parkinson's disease.
The 80s had lots of feel good movies, action adventure, you name it. "Weird Science" and "Adventures in Babysitting" are couple of those types which come to mind that are just fun movies to watch.
This movie is a Swiss watch of planting and payoff. The reason Doc looks worried about the photo right before the climax is that George knocking out Biff IS altering the future, possibly catastrophically, and yet the photo is restored anyway. That's why he saved Marty's letter and knew to wear the vest - because he knew that on balance, the future would still be close enough to the original. Also, the fact he knows Marty will grow up in Hill Valley means he will be primed for when they meet anyway; '55 Doc already has knowledge of the future to a degree, so why worry?
Fun FACT - the person saying "That's too darn loud" it's HUEY LEWIS - the person that wrote the song they were just playing "The Power of Love"... Also - it was TWIN PINES MALL at the beginning and at the end it is LONE PINE MALL because he ran over the one tree...
I am SO excited that you reacted to this. It's just a classic now and one of the BEST movies out there. The sequels are a must. I would like to make two suggestions for you. The first is a RE reaction to The Power of Love by Huey Lewis. This time if you do the official music video - you can see the Back to the Future scenes and references in it. Two is a movie request for The Secret of My Success. It is my other favourite Michael J Fox movie. It's a business type movie - but SO funny. I think you both would love it. And the music is fantastic in it. Amber - you'll LOVE the soundtrack. It's all produced by the iconic Canadian David Foster. Who also produced for Celine, Whitney, and Bryan Adams. No other reactor has done this movie - and I would LOVE for you guys to be the first!
When this came out I saw it at the theater. We had no idea there would be a 2 and 3 at that time. When the movie ended the whole theater did a collective OHHHH! No one wanted it to be over. I not only own the collection on DVD but have seen all three movies more times than I care to admit. Great to watch you guys enjoy this as much as we did the first time we saw it.
And when 2 came out we didn’t know they had filmed both 2 and 3 back-to-back so 3 was pretty much done too. And when you guys get to Titanic, Billy Zane plays a big part, but he started out as one of Biff’s boys back in the ‘50s in this movie.🔥🤙
Not only did we not know it would be a trilogy, the people who made the movie hadn’t actually planned on a sequel. The ending was supposed to be a joke. After the wild success of the movie, however… well, the rest is cinematic history. 😉
Did you also notice that it was "Lone Pine Mall" When Marty came back from the 1950's?? And yes, Ronald Regan was an actor in his early years. If you noticed when Marty first went to town in the 1950's the movie theater was playing "Cattle Queen of Montana" which Ronald Regan starred in! I was so thrilled to see you two react to this movie! Maybe "Raiders of the Lost Ark" next??
So much fun watching your reactions! Yes, there was a car called a Delorian and the doors opened just like that. Yes, Ronald Reagan was an actor, back in the 50's, I think. One thing you didn't pick up on: When Marty was playing "Johnny B, Goode" at the dance, one of the band members made a phone call to his cousin who was looking for a new sound. That phone call was to Chuck Berry. If you haven't reacted to Chuck Berry doing Johnny B, Goode, that's an absolute must in a live performance.
Micheal J. Fox has a special place in my heart, been a fan since his role as Alex Keaton in the sitcom Family Ties. I love this movie, and the fact that Huey Lewis and the News are a major part of the soundtrack. Honestly, I wouldn't spend a lot of time on part two of this franchise bc I found it very confusing. Part 3 was great and I do recommend it.
It always makes me laugh when I hear the younger generation say a movie is slow or starts slow. It is called good story telling and building toward the denouement. I get it, the majority of todays movies, which make up most of their movie experience, are just jammed packed with go-go-go action. What they don't seem to realize is that these fast paced movies are done to hide the fact that they can't create, write, or direct properly... so they cover it with "action". J.J. Abrams movies are a prime example of this. That is why when you leave most movies today, you don't really remember anything about it.
Another classic that molded my generation. Keep em coming guys. You two are BY FAR the best two reaction team on RUclips… been here before Rob Squad was even a reality and still watch every day. Keep it up we love it
Mark Campbell did the vocals for "Johnny B. Good." The scene where Marty's grandfather yells for his wife. He and the actress who played his wife --Francis Lee McCain, her character's name is Stella. So he yells "Stella!" in a loud voice. The actor, who played Marty's grandfather was George DiCenzo did a play together called "A Streetcar Named Desire." Marlon Brando did the movie in 1951. The single most memorable thing in the film was when Brando's character yells "Stella!." George was trying to copy that. A little known factoid.
I remember watching this in the theater when it came out in July 1985. The audience erupted with cheers. My favorite line is when Elaine's dad says, "Stella! Another one of these damn kids jumped in front of my car!" As if that was a recurring problem for him. It cracks me up every time. A movie I would like to see you react to is the 1980 movie "My Bodyguard."
My Bodyguard? What a deep cut. I haven't seen anyone react to that yet. I used to love that movie. It'd be interesting in the era of no-bullying to see what people think.
The actor playing Lorraine’s Dad played Hordak on the cartoon She-Ra Princess of Power. When he shouts “Another one of these damn kids…!” You can hear his Hordak voice.
This movie is a masterpiece, I've seen it maybe a hundred times. The acting is great, you can see that the actors enjoyed the filming. Christopher Lloyd is top class. At the beginning, the question arose, why everything used to look better... because we were younger, my friend :)
The actor who plays Biff is in real life deeply religious and the sweetest family man. The actor playing the Doc was a serious theatre performer prior to this role and took a lot of persuading to do the film. Of course afterwards, he admitted it was the best decision he had ever made.
In my opinion, back to the future is basically the perfect movie. The writing, the action, the acting, the directing, the themes, the characters, their relationships, and the pacing are all magnificent. There are a few other movies that I would consider to be in this category. The Shawshank redemption is one. The sixth sense is another.
I'm 56 and it's still my fave movie of all time, and for many others also I suspect. Just a perfect combo of plot, characters, comedy, sci-fi and soundtrack. The fact that BTTF is still embedded in pop culture 37 years later is further testament to it's greatness.
I was 6 years old when this movie came out. Loved it then and love it even more now. I'll be 46 in a couple of weeks. I like seeing young people enjoying 80's movies, because those are the best.
You guys have to watch all 3 movies, it's a trilogy. It's one continuous story split into 3 seperate movies. Each one pick uo where the previous movie ended. Don't wait to long before watching parts 2 & 3. I guarantee you will like them!
Love the Back to the Future movies!! Grew up with them! My husband and I went to the theater summer of 2020 just when things were opening up here again but no new movies playing in the theaters. So our movie theater showed Back to the Future. We had to see it even though we’ve seen it a billion times on tv. It was fun! There was a group of three young teenagers in front of us that appeared to be their first time seeing it. It was a joy for us to see their reaction. So many “Cool!!” comments from them. Such a classic and fun movie!!
I grew up watching movies. My parents knew a lot about it, and as a child I watched thousands of movies. And, despite having seen so many, I must tell you that Back to the futures is one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of all time. Not only because of his great performances, like Thomas F. Wilson's or Crispin Glover's (and above all that monster of the theatrical stage that is Christopher Lloyd) but also because the script for this film is the most perfect ever made. It already is in this first part, but to better appreciate how everything fits together, you have to consider the entire trilogy as a single film.
The entire "Back To The Future" series is a good trilogy to watch. You two are tapping into so many great movie franchises. Far too many of them are considered must watches I hope you have time for them all. I'm actually hesitant to recommend any new franchises until you get through some of the ones you started, lol.
I steal lines from movies to use in real life. Back to the Future III has a line that I often use. You better run, squirrel! You’d be surprised how often that line works.
@@walterrutherford8321 I'm a marathon/ultramarathon runner. A lot of the time I'm absolutely miserable and in pain and BTTF3's line "Run for fun? What kind of fun is THAT!!???" often runs through my mind!! 🤣
Most of the scenes, with Michael J. Fox, we’re filmed at night. He was starting in a popular TV show, “Family Ties, and the producer wouldn’t let Fox take any time off to film the movie. So he had to sign a contract to film at night. He slept about 2 hours per day for months. The kid almost killed himself. But the movie made him a superstar.
Once again you made me laugh out loud while you watched a movie. I haven't seen it for a while so it was like watching it all over again for the first time. My son even told me he kept laughing every time he walked by me because I was still watching and laughing at you reactions. Keep them coming. Another fun film suggestion is Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Another 80's classic.
The actors in this series do so well playing other characters and alternate versions of their characters in the series. The team on these movies made something magic 😁
Saw this movie in the theater the first day it came out in 1985. Great reaction as always. Now you’ll have to do the next two. Also some other time travel movies you might like are: Forever Young (Mel Gibson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Elijah Wood), Peggy Sue Got Married ( Nicholas Cage, Kathleen Turner, Jim Carrey), The Final Countdown (Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen).
Thank you for watching these older movies and heling us remember the nostalgia and excitement of them from decades ago. You do great remembering many details and piecing things together. IMO I feel this is one of the great trilogies ever made. The links between the three and the continuity between them are great. There are so many iconic lines and moments used in movies still today. Most recent is Ready Player One having The Delorean and Zemeckis Cube. Thank you again and I will be here for the future reactions.
*One point to mention about that left-hook.* Back in the day, many left-hand kids were forced to use their right hand for everything because left-handed people were seen as dumb. This caused a lot of nervousness/anxiety in them back in the day. Watch how George uses his right hand to do everything. Pay attention to George's weedy right jab. The first time he gains confidence is when he is forced to use his left hand, his natural hand, and his new story carries on from there.
At the beginning, when Marty's band was auditioning and the man stood up with a megaphone and said they were too loud ... that was Huey Lewis and he sings the theme song at the beginning of the movie. It's so sad what has happened to Michael J. Fox! He's such a good actor and the Back to the Future trilogy is still great!
Being a teenager for the 80's, 12 in 1980, Back to the Future sums up the 80's for most teenagers, I love this movie as I remember seeing it at the theatres, what a reaction. I have the trilogy DVD set of all 3, awesome, thanks for reacting. I LOVE Jay in this. Just so anyone who is reading knows I am also commenting as I am watching, I'm just seeing the downtown 1955 scene and as I hear reactors wanting to have lived in the 80's my era would be mid 50's to mid 60's. When Amber said "Doc cracks me up" he does me too, it is hard to say whether I like Marty or Doc more, my favorite Doc statement is "Great Scott." At the end of Johnny B. Goode Marty says "You're not ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it, yeah the 70's and 80's due in parts to the electric guitar and bass made some of the best music ever made, they produced good band after band, and good song after song. The thing I like best about watching Back to the Future is it keeps me young in a way and let's me know my feelings are still in tact. Thanks again so much as when I watch movie reactions this movie is always the one I look for first to see if someone has reacted.
they had full service gas stations in the 80's... check tire pressure, check all your fluids and top off what you needed, wash windshields and gas you up as a premium service. in some states you still have to have full service.
This trilogy was a great set. Loved watching it growing up. The “To Be Continued” wasn’t in the theatrical release of the movie. They added it to the home video release when they knew a sequel was greenlit. Yes the Delorean was a real car. They chose that car cause it made it more plausible that people in the 50s would think of it as an alien craft. Did you guys notice the name of the mall when he went back to the future? Earlier in the movie it was the Twin Pine Mall and when Marty ran back there to save Doc the sign said Lone Pine Mall showing that the pine he took out when he left Peabodys farm changed the future.
When Marty’s band was doing their audition for the talent show in the beginning, the song they were performing was one from the sound track for the movie called “The Power of Love” performed by Huey Lewis and the News. One fun thing was that the teacher who got on the megaphone and told them “you’re just too loud” was Huey Lewis, himself.
YES! Such a great movie. The music, the time period of the 80s AND the 50s, the clothing, the characters, etc. Happy y'all enjoyed it, and PEASE watch 2 and 3!!! Like someone else mentioned, the whole trilogy is like one giant movie split into 3 parts haha. I think y'all will enjoy them all :) keep up the awesome work!
This iconic movie is another one I remember seeing dozens of times from my days as a movie usher when I was 21! These were the days! Lea Thompson as Marty’s mom is still hilarious to this day. Did you know that Eric Stoltz was first cast as Marty, but Stephen Spielberg didn’t feel he was funny enough, so he was recast with MJF and the scenes reshot!
They originally wanted Fox but Family Ties didn’t want to share him so they went with Stoltz but Zemeckis didn’t think he was doing the comedy parts right so they worked out a deal with Family Ties.
Super reaction! Loved watching you both just take in this movie. Yes, the 1980's were a great time to experience. Things were so different. The guy who says that Marty's band is "too loud" is Huey Lewis from Huey Lewis & The News. They did the main song from this movie "Back In Time". And yes, President Ronald Reagan was an actor.
When doc and marty are standing in front of the delorean when Einstein was in it and marty was moving away but doc was so comfortably standing there saying watch this watch this. KNOWING it was gonna work "for the first time" was because he already seen it work with lightning in 1955. Even tho he hadn't invented it yet. 😅
I remember when gas stations were actually called "service stations".. and they'd come out and give you full service pump your gas, check your tire pressure and oil.. then it turned into to catagories you had pumps that were self service which means you pump your gas and they also had full service. .Now, it's just a gas station, get your own gas but prepay.. This movie makes me sad cause I was a teen when this movie came out and seeing the 80s makes me sad cause it was a wonderful time to be a teen, but then when it shows how it was in the 50s which was my parents childhood, they would tell me how the 50's was such a wonderful time to be a kid. I don't know if you all will look back at your decade of childhood and think the same, I hope not.. I hope it gets better in the future rather than worse. but you all gotta check out part 2.. and 3..
The whole trilogy is absolutly classic! The reason what makes the first movie so good and watchable for every generation is it is not so much about science stuff but about family.I mean, we all know our parents as "old people", but did we ever think about that they were teenagers, too? About hte movie itself: 1: DeLorean was a real car brand that existed just a few years and with BTTF they became cult cars. The film makers decided to use a brand not existing anymore so they don't have to pay for using it. 2. The guy at the audtion who told Marty they are too loud is Huey Lewis, who delivered the songs "Power of love" and "Back in time" for the soundtrack. 3. Did you noticed the name of the mall has changed when Marty returned 😉 4. The ending supposed to be a joke, but the movie became so successful, they HAD to do a sequel and somehow create a future Hill Valley. But you'll see in part 2 😉 Greetings from Germany! 🤘
One of my all time favourite trilogies (another would be Indiana Jones). Such a fun movie, it never gets old. Would love to see you do a Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings reaction too!
Yeah the Delorean car was a real car that you could buy, it was between the years 1981 to 1983, so they were out of production by the time this movie came out in 1985. Another fact for you, Michael J Fox wasn't the first choice for the Marty character, it was an actor Eric Stoltz, and the time machine was originally a fridge freezer, yeah hard to see that hey lol, but it's true. Other movies to check out are, Who Framed Roger Rabbit Flight Of The Navigator Mask ( starring Cher) awesome movies.😎👌 Yes Ronald Reagan was an actor before he became the president.
Michael J Fox was actually their first choice, but he was busy filming a TV show so they went with Stoltz. It was not working at all, however, since Stoltz saw the story as a tragedy and wasn’t giving it the light-hearted spin it needed. He was fired, and fortunately they were able to negotiate things so that Michael J Fox could work on both.
@@wackyvorlon Just what I was going to say Michael J. Fox was the first choice but he was working on Family Ties at the time. In the end they wanted Michael J. Fox so bad they worked it out by letting him shoot Family Ties during the day and Back to the Future at night, so he got virtually no sleep during that time.
13:02 I've come to a realization after seeing this movie countless times. When she was changing in front of the window she knew the boys were watching. Her dad says "another one of these kids". So other boys were up there before. Plus later we see just how promiscuous she is. She probably liked being watched.
Another real time comment, full service. There weren't any self-serve gas stations until I was much older. I can still remember my dad always saying, fill her up with regular. And then people could go take a restroom break or whatever they needed to do get out and stretch and these guys check your oil your tire pressure your windshield wipers all this stuff and then the idea was that you tip them. They were almost more like service people at a restaurant. But it was just the way it was.
Isn't that just a great movie? Great reaction too guys. I've seen it dozens of times, but it doesn't matter, it's still great. Glad your enjoying yourselves watching these "old" films 🎥 It really was a great time to be young. 🎬👌💯❤🇬🇧
… “Why did the older days look so much better?” … remember: we’re counting on you to help us bring back those good old days! I loved watching your reaction. I am so glad you decided to watch this trilogy, thank you. Yes, there is also part 2 and part 3. This is the trilogy that wraps up better than anything I’ve ever seen - but only if you watch the other two parts as well. I’ll show you something very cute, but only after you react to part 2, because right now I don’t want to spoil anything. You’re doing great … I’m looking forward to your next reaction. Salutations from Romania …
It was so much fun to watch your reactions to this. I was just 21 when I saw this at the theater back in 1985. - - A piece of trivia: When Marty and his band were auditioning, he teacher who stood up and said "Sorry kids, you're just too darn loud." was played my Huey Lewis whose song they were playing!!
At the audition, the guy with the megaphone saying their music was “Too darn loud” is Huey Lewis. Huey Lewis wrote the songs for the movie and his group, Huey Lewis and the News, performed them.
WAIT - that WAS Huey Lewis????? I gotta go look again! Love his music!
@@sheryljoel5052 it sure was.
Marty was also playing a Huey Lewis song.
There are a lot of those hidden gems. Especially when Marty returns to the present.
When he comes back to the mall parking lot, the sign reads "Lone Pine Mall", because Marty destroys one of the pines, as he pulls out of the barn.
You’ve seen him before in the “We are the world video”
Michael J. Fox is one of those rare actors who can look bewildered, clumsy, and yet completely cool and sure of himself at the same time.
I feel so sorry for Michael. He has severe Parkinsons. He can barely walk or talk. He collapsed on a couch during the latest convention for the movies. He did amazing in the movies.
Michael J Fox Great Actor
One and only Marty McFly
Lol @ 27:22 Hey their baby is cryin' and they don't know it cause of earcans!! 🤣
Robert Gale and Robert zemeckis wanted to get Michael J fox whenever they first explored the script for this movie but he was unavailable at the time so they hired that kid that played in that movie mask with Cher what was his name the guy that played Lance on Pulp Fiction the heroin dealer, anyway they secured Michael J fox after they shot like half of the movie and had to go back and reshoot the whole movie over again you should watch the behind the scenes it's really good
Eric Stolz. They filmed half the movie with him before deciding he was totally wrong for the role. @@waynelalonde4778

The Back to the Future trilogy is one of if not the best trilogies ever.
💯👍👏😁
yes, this and star wars are bar none the 2 best trilogies period
Indiana Jones wasn't too shabby either.
As you can see from my profile pic.
HELL YEAH!!!
Serious question... do any of you actually believe they’ve never seen this movie before ?
"Chuck!
He even did Chuck berry's moves on the stage
@@rebeccawyse5562 He did an amalgamation of moves from famous guitarists.
@@Fuzz32 It was here on RUclips, hopefully still is. That could be something they can react to.
This movie is pretty perfect, yeah.
BTTF is like The Predator. Nothing wasted, everything moves the story forwards from plot point to plot point. An expertly crafted movie, from everyone. Very few movies are as well paced as this one.
"Dude finally stood up for himself."
No, he stood up for HER. He needed something bigger to fight for, to get him past his self-doubt.
True
One of the best ‘80s movies ever! I hope you guys react to Parts II and III!
Agreed. The sequels are definitely worth seeing, unlike many movie trilogies.
I would say one of the best all time movies ever.

Love Michael J. Fox ever since his role as Alex Keaton on Family Ties and loved this movie franchise as well.
I love the fact that he filmed both BTTF and Family Ties at the same time. I can just imagine him being found by the crew sleeping between scenes in a twisted heap like Marty does because he's so sleep deprived.
Family Ties was so funny. I was surprised to see Michael Gross, the dad, in Tremors.
I got a lone pine mall shirt :D
And that's Puente Hills Mall on the 60 freeway

The Delorean is also featured in the Tom Macdonald song "I wish".
Used to live in Reno and saw that car

15:13 Yep!! Ronald Reagan starred in at least 40 movies during his career in Hollywood! And that was how he met and married Nancy Davis, who was also a movie star at the time. I was able to sit in a restored Delorean many years ago. It is amazing how small they are. I had to peel myself out of that driver's seat.
The joke is that it was thought of as a shitty impractical car. It's like if you made a time machine today but put it in a Nissan Cube, but worse.

I saw it when it first came out too.It's a classic like-Wizard of Oz,Home Alone 1 & 2,Beverly Hills Cop,etc,etc,.
I love the detail that went into this movie. Almost every time I watched it I caught something new.
This reaction is the again!
How about the TWO power TOWERS behind the McFly house?
When Marty came back to his time, shouldn't his parents have recognized him from 1955? I've seen this movie many times since it first came out, yet I couldn't tell if they did or not.
I grew up in the 80's and have seen this movie more times than I can count, constant repeat on video tape back then. The fact there are people who've never seen it is crazy to me, but what a treat ur in for!

The fact that Jay got to 30 or whatever age he is without seeing this movie is wild. It was on TV every year for decades...

Excellent trilogy. I hope ya’ll are gonna watch the rest of it back to back. They tied these movies together expertly.
The Ronald Reagan joke is my favourite
@@fayesouthall6604 It was Reagan's favourite too.
The soundtrack is what makes the tension even more. I used to play the back to the future song when I was in band in school.
Yup. The script is fantastic almost perfect form
@@OG.x3ntaur Cool!
Look up the making of it, it didn't start out perfect. And originally Eric Stoltz was playing Marty.

Weird Science...YES!!
Breakfast club.
Home Alone 1 & 2.
All actors in this trilogy are awesome.
Yes! Raiders is one of my all time favorite movies. Never get sick of watching it. :)
Keep it up we love it
Why do the 80's look better? Because they were, my man. They just were.
💯
Of course in the 80's, when this movie came out, we were all saying how the 50's looked so much better.
America peaked in the 90s and the 80s were leading up to that so arguably the 80s was the peak
Yes! Hell yes!
Mark Campbell did the vocals for "Johnny B. Good."
The scene where Marty's grandfather yells for his wife.
Yeah, that would've resonated with the older audiences. The fifties was a golden era in time.
It is weird they didn't like MJF play his guitar or sing since he can do both.
Great suggestion, "My Bodyguard" is a great movie with a very young Jennifer Beals and Matt Dillon
The actor playing Lorraine’s Dad played Hordak on the cartoon She-Ra Princess of Power. When he shouts “Another one of these damn kids…!” You can hear his Hordak voice.
I really like My Bodyguard, but I suspect they would find that one really slow.
Christopher lloyd was also already a movie actor starting with "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"
In my opinion, back to the future is basically the perfect movie. The writing, the action, the acting, the directing, the themes, the characters, their relationships, and the pacing are all magnificent. There are a few other movies that I would consider to be in this category. The Shawshank redemption is one. The sixth sense is another.
I think BTTF3 is also a fantastic movie. Part 2 was ok but 3 is a pleasure.
I'm 56 and it's still my fave movie of all time, and for many others also I suspect. Just a perfect combo of plot, characters, comedy, sci-fi and soundtrack. The fact that BTTF is still embedded in pop culture 37 years later is further testament to it's greatness.
The trilogy is perfect. Ties everything up nicely, leaves you satisfied. Even though you'd like to see more, you aren't disappointed.
I'd add The Green Mile to that list.
Yes “The sixth sense” with Bruce Willis!!
Love that Jay called Biff "Griff" by mistake. Foreshadowing for Part 2.
The whole trilogy is great! Be sure you react to parts 2 & 3 soon so you don’t forget any of the plot lines! Great reaction!
“I was gonna call him Griff.” That made me laugh!! Hope you’re going to watch the other two cuz they are great!

What a fun movie. Brings back my young adult years in a heartbeat. There is number 2 and 3 to watch too. Wonderful reaction from both of you!
It's great to see so many different generations enjoy this movie. It's wholesome. Fun. Has some great messages. Great art transcends everything.
Sadly, all the sequels after the first one were pretty horrible.
32:14 Did you notice the name of the mall changed to Lone Pine Mall instead of Twin Pines? After Marty ran over the tree in 1955...
The intensity at the clock tower you feel... I have seen this movie probably 50 times and I still feel that way every time I see it!!!
💖💖💖
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
*One point to mention about that left-hook.*
Back in the day, many left-hand kids were forced to use their right hand for everything because left-handed people were seen as dumb.
Fox! He's such a good actor and the Back to the Future trilogy is still great!
and the bum is the mayor from 55
Being a teenager for the 80's, 12 in 1980, Back to the Future sums up the 80's for most teenagers, I love this movie as I remember seeing it at the theatres, what a reaction.
This movie, you have to watch over and over... so many clues and details that are so important.
Fun little detail : the ledge Doc break in 1955 is still broken in 1985 when Marty comes back
Super reaction!
Fun fact in skateboarding the name of the trick to ride behind a car while it’s pulling you is called “skitching”
I hope it gets better in the future rather than worse. but you all gotta check out part 2.. and 3..
Well said.
The whole trilogy is absolutly classic! The reason what makes the first movie so good and watchable for every generation is it is not so much about science stuff but about family.I mean, we all know our parents as "old people", but did we ever think about that they were teenagers, too?
About hte movie itself:
1: DeLorean was a real car brand that existed just a few years and with BTTF they became cult cars. The film makers decided to use a brand not existing anymore so they don't have to pay for using it.
2. The guy at the audtion who told Marty they are too loud is Huey Lewis, who delivered the songs "Power of love" and "Back in time" for the soundtrack.
3. Did you noticed the name of the mall has changed when Marty returned 😉
4. The ending supposed to be a joke, but the movie became so successful, they HAD to do a sequel and somehow create a future Hill Valley. But you'll see in part 2 😉
Greetings from Germany! 🤘
Very GOOD point,Andy R,you're absolutely right about the family theme/plot,I never noticed that till you brought it up.
Very GOOD point,Andy R,you're absolutely right about the family theme/plot,I never noticed that till you brought it up.
The beauty of this movie is, you watch it over and over and realized you missed something from the last time you watched it..... great series
One of my all time favourite trilogies (another would be Indiana Jones). Such a fun movie, it never gets old. Would love to see you do a Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings reaction too!
Indiana Jones is awesome, you already seen Harrison Ford.
It's not a suicide door. it's a gullwing door. Love the reaction. And yes, the Delorean was a real car. And there are 3 BTF films.
One of the most technically sound screenplays ever written makes one of the best movies ever made
Yeah the Delorean car was a real car that you could buy, it was between the years 1981 to 1983, so they were out of production by the time this movie came out in 1985. Another fact for you, Michael J Fox wasn't the first choice for the Marty character, it was an actor Eric Stoltz, and the time machine was originally a fridge freezer, yeah hard to see that hey lol, but it's true.
Other movies to check out are,
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Flight Of The Navigator
Mask ( starring Cher)
awesome movies.😎👌
Yes Ronald Reagan was an actor before he became the president.
Omg I love Flight Of The Navigator, and watched it again just recently. I can't wait for Jay and Amber to react to that 80's gem!
“Why did the older days look so much better?”
Because it's a movie. Choose the right movie, it looks terrible.
Another great comedy for them would be Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Yes, to Ferris Bueller! One of favorites!
