I am a game developer, and I really look up to the team of Re-Logic. Terraria is one of the games that made me want to become a gamedev in the first place and create worlds. As a young child, I played the game very simply, and even though I was playing only a small portion of the game, I had so much fun. (I never even defeated the Eye of Cthulhu and even thought that it was one of the strongest bosses). Today, I have 600+ hours in Terraria and it made the years 2020 and 2021, years which were particularly bad for many people, the happiest years of my childhood (my life does continue to be happy, but the happiness curve was extremely steep). When I played the game during long school breaks, it hits different so hard in a way that other games can't even do. And so far, I have only been talking about vanilla. I don't have much experience with mods (other than Calamity mod), but that's fine, because even the base game itself is so awesome, it brought enough joy for me. Terraria is my favorite game! A lot of content, updates, and mods extend its lifespan even more... I think the reason it still has so much success is that many games of the same genre have been released since, but none have matched it. Terraria is still way ahead.
Terraria shares one thing with minecraft. Each of its worlds you atart are their own stories with history specific too them, especially when you play with friends [which I highly recommend!]. But what it does better is give you a goal to work for, and each step of progression in terraria feels like its own achievement, it truely feels like youve accomplished something, and you're getting better at the game. Oh also I love building in terraria, I'm the builder of my friends.
Honestly I see why terraria is way more successful than other games. It is not driven by money and it's developers were very thoutfll to make it seem like a very interesting experience and they don't lock updates
I feel like the fact that it's so hard to figure it out on your own helps a lot, you have to get into the community at least a little bit to find out how to progress at a decent pace. even experienced players learn about new things and weapons they haven't tried by interacting with each other
Terearia devs be like:"GUYS GUYS PLS PLS THIS IS THE LAST UPDATE, but we just want to add like 300 new things BUT DEFINETLY THE LAST UPDATE IS THIS ONE"
The only difference between Minecraft and terraria is people complaining the new Minecraft updates are modded while terraria fans are happy with whatever they get Minecraft needs to update more like terraria and plus people could just play previous versions of the game if they don’t like it

What I love about this game is how the most weird things could be added and it fits in with the game. The lead dev decided to add poo blocks because of a popular Reddit post.

the first time i played terraria was on my brothers i-pod and now its my favourite game of all time also something i like about terraria is that the updates dont feel bad(if you get what i mean) and instead of me not really being bothered about new updates a start a new playthrough practically every update

As someone who has played the game on PS4, PC and even 3ds, i can say that the console controls are iffy, PC controls very well (if you button map well, inventory is F, fight me), a d 3ds works well with its second screen even though the version is old.
how to stop playing terraria: step 1: create a character in hardcore step 2: play in a master mode world, and every time you die, you create a new world and create a new character step 3: you gonna beat this in less 700 hours, so when you beat do everthing again but in for the worthy, whit master mode
I keep hearing ppl say how amazing terraria is, ive played a ton of minecraft before and am a HUGE fan of platformers so this would be a no brainer, I just somehow never got to play it. I will probably forget about it again tho and not buy it on steam cuz im broke rn. Also I love the calamity mod ost, the modding community is insane, I never got to see what its about tho.
The more I see those types of videos, the more I resent my friend that still don't want to try it since 12 FUCKING YEARS even tho the whole world say it's a must-play
I play minecraft since it first game to mobile (around the same time as when terraria released) and just right now when I seriously got into terraria and holy frick theres so much, vanilla minecraft is no where near this much content, I only defeated 4 bosses Eater of worlds, eye of cthulhu, king slime and queen bee (in order) and the fact this is just a small part of terraria, I play on a large world and I didnt know theres so much stuff underground and I love the many choices the game gives you. I really thought it was 2d minecraft but hell nah, I'm mainly a pc player but I have it on a couple other systems like wii u, 3ds and ps vita (playing 3ds version the most after pc), they dont get the latest updates but still so much to do. I only played for around 40 hours, this might be enough to get me to beat minecraft but not terraria. I wish I started playing it earlier
My first introduction to Terraria was when the Yogscast played it very early in its development. At that time minecraft was really popular, and Terraria was seen as just a 2D minecraft copycat. However, after that time terraria went heavy into the fantasy and even RPG elements, adding tons of bosses, exploration, and a soft class system with lots customization, proving that it was not just a minecraft rip off but was its own thing. But what I find really funny is that over the years its actually been MINECRAFT that's been looking more and more like TERRARIA, when terraria was innitially seen as a minecraft copycat. Classic case of the student surpassing the teacher. (Though if im not mistaken MC is still more popular than TER.)
Not really a fair comparison considering that Binding of Isaac has more than 1 game and also includes multiple DLCs. Terraria is just one game updated throughout the years.
My jaw dropped when i realized his complex it was. Just a feature like The Mechanic and all the wiring. Meanwhile Minecraft still don't have chairs Minecraft is a game designed more for children Terraria is for people who were children when 2d games were prevalent
terarria is nothing like minecraft, mojang adds one new ore or boss or wtv once very few years, meanwhile teraria dev: My son said he likes dinosaurs, so we will be addid dinosaurs
Idk i feel like terraria is easier but that's my opinion i beat terraria before Minecraft and i played Minecraft since 2013 but i played terraria since 2020 maybe i am bad at playing Minecraft
I mostly agree with all of them except perfect undying game i know its undying game but perfect undying game should go to geometry dash it survived for 7 years without an any update
Eh, GD is more of a player-created content experience than Terraria. It's like Roblox or Gmod, the players create the new in-game content more than the dev. Highly different from Terraria, since the game offers no in-game content editor and players would need to rely on modding. So it's not as reliant on new updates as Terraria.

How desperately i wish this game had a competitive pvp scene.like something a little more than capture the gem.
when you realize that you are watching a terraria video right now so you are just about to create a new char with a diffrent challange to play trough
I got the game on PS4 and thought it sucked. Fast forward like 5 years and I get it on my computer as well as my brother’s computer like 3 weeks ago and I have played it EVERY SINGLE DAY 😂 (Though I took a trip to Texas so I have not played it this week)
As someone who has played the game on PS4, PC and even 3ds, i can say that the console controls are iffy, PC controls very well (if you button map well, inventory is F, fight me), a d 3ds works well with its second screen even though the version is old.
how to stop playing terraria:
step 1: create a character in hardcore
step 2: play in a master mode world, and every time you die, you create a new world and create a new character
step 3: you gonna beat this in less 700 hours, so when you beat do everthing again but in for the worthy, whit master mode
Что делать если я создал хардкорного персонажа и в очередной раз прошëл terraria?💀
I swear I have like 290 hours or something on the base game not even counting Tmodloader and I feel like I just blinked and started at that time
Summary: because terraria is GOATED
Minecraft better bc hypixel skyblock exists on it
5am and im playing terraria while watching terraria videos
I've been playing for a week straight and 3 days without stopping, it's addictive
Bro play hypixel skyblock on Minecraft far better game
After playing for over 600+ hours, I'm still learning vanilla terraria...
6:18 Fr i play it on a 2 giga ram pc 💀
You could play it on Xbox 360 - which I believe had like 500mb ram
Ooh terraria vid
The more I see those types of videos, the more I resent my friend that still don't want to try it since 12 FUCKING YEARS even tho the whole world say it's a must-play
Because it’s awesome!
I was not expecting that majestic mustache
Terraria is like progression on steroids

(Though if im not mistaken MC is still more popular than TER.)
what is the mod at 5:37 som1 plz tell
The best mod is calamity mode
Redemption mod
Mod of Redemption
the only game i can think of that survived this long is the binding of isaac
Not really a fair comparison considering that Binding of Isaac has more than 1 game and also includes multiple DLCs. Terraria is just one game updated throughout the years.
great game
~1600 hours of playtime
Especially the mods bro,Calamity and thorium are expiriences better than 3/4 of AAA games and for free?!?
Well they gotta have it at the game awards
شو من ختمت العبه ما اعرف سشسوي اقصد بعد مون لورد احد يعرف يجاوبني
Mods…. Calamity…
Another character with a new class and/or difficulty
Class specific playthroughs, secret seeds, expert master and legendary mode
Terraria changed the direction of my life i think
Please do Black PS Vita Oled vid. Please.
This or core keeper ?
Not much of a fan of strawdrew valley
My jaw dropped when i realized his complex it was. Just a feature like The Mechanic and all the wiring.
Meanwhile Minecraft still don't have chairs
Minecraft is a game designed more for children
Terraria is for people who were children when 2d games were prevalent
Before watching this video. If i see another comparison of terraria with minecraft Im going to lose my damn mind
Crap…. Now watch the video 😂
Joke's on you, I stop playing for awhile after fishing.
terraria is what i call the perfect game
No game is perfect, but Terraria is a near-perfect game for me
Terraria rocks !
terarria is nothing like minecraft, mojang adds one new ore or boss or wtv once very few years,
meanwhile teraria dev: My son said he likes dinosaurs, so we will be addid dinosaurs
Idk i feel like terraria is easier but that's my opinion i beat terraria before Minecraft and i played Minecraft since 2013 but i played terraria since 2020 maybe i am bad at playing Minecraft
Easier? Master, expert and legendary modes exist, Minecraft even on hardcore is a baby’s game
So sad for Mac users, doesn't work whereas it work smoothly on Iphone. Sad
🤓🤓🤓🤓😩MiNcErAfT iS sTiLl ReLeVeNt
Wdym, I think Terraria is definitely better, but Minecraft still has relevance, even though I definitely dislike how half-baked the new updates
And you can play it on so many different platforms
Have a good day.
i appreciate super mario recommending this game to everyone 😩😩😩😩
Hey! How dare you
It's A ME… MAAARIO!
This ain’t glaze just facts 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
When Terraria has more dimensions than Minecraft*
"Terraria only has one dimension , but Minecraft has 3 (overworld, nether, end)" - 🤓
It's because terraria is on it's final update
They say that like every update
i was the 1000 like for dis video
Me? Addicted? I have 3.345 hours in this game and I never got addicted into it. 🙃
Gugnir has 1k hours
I mostly agree with all of them except perfect undying game i know its undying game but perfect undying game should go to geometry dash it survived for 7 years without an any update
Eh, GD is more of a player-created content experience than Terraria. It's like Roblox or Gmod, the players create the new in-game content more than the dev. Highly different from Terraria, since the game offers no in-game content editor and players would need to rely on modding. So it's not as reliant on new updates as Terraria.
