It's amazing how people expect the finest of the finest by paying less than 200- 300 Dollars , of course they have to cut costs by using standard materials or even sub standard like the mineral glass but at least it's doomed , but it doesn't lose a bit of it's charme , at the beginning i was also a little disappointed because of the cheaper materials especially the mineral glass which looks like plastic from the side view , the leather strap was also sub standard from quality but it's actually very comfortable , but now i really appreciate and love this watch , this is why i have two of them this one shown on the review and the black dial version , i can recommend this watch , a really interesting piece .
I'm glad you like it and O agree, it's a very interesting watch. I noted when it came out that there was no special reason why it should cost 2 times more than the 41mm version with basically the same specs
Let’s wait until Amazon starts selling them. At 150~170€ I think those will be a good deal. At 250+ I’m not convinced they offer the usual Orient bang for buck ratio.
I actually have the 36 mm version of the bambino. That can be a good alternative to this size. But for some reason that was also more expensive than the standard 41 mm bambino.
Yes and that's I believe why they didn't sell! Here I believe Orient are repeating the same mistake. First Seiko, now Orient, I gotta admit I'm kind of dissapointed 😢
I own two of the 36mm versions. the white dial with blue hands that I got for 200€ (had to import it from Singapore and that price is including everything, shipping, extra taxes etc) and the yellow gold that I got for 150, directly sold by Amazon a few months ago. They are definitely harder to find but deals appear from time to time. Worth the hunt imo - I much prefer 36mm for this type of watch
Thanks for the review. I was really looking forward to seeing this larger size, better-proportioned Bambino. I think you chose the best color combination. The price is a little on the high side, but it's still a really nice watch. I'm seriously considering it.
I bought the 36mm rose gold version for $100USD and somehow found a $70 usd shell Cordovan leather strap (highly recommend!) which makes the watch look much more expensive. No way I am paying 275 euro for this one! Not worth it for that price!
Recently, got a silverish one of these (RA-AC0M03S). Going to regulate it the same way I regulated my other Orients, but still measuring the initial accuracy and waiting for it to stabilize. This one got one so many things right that I don't even mind it has no small seconds (although I still am waiting for a hypothetical 38mm version of RA-AP): the dial is finally not too big and not too small for me, the second and minute hands finally reach the markers, the lug width is finally 20mm so that my quick-release steel mesh straps are deployed in seconds, the crown is extremely easy to grip and operate, and the overall design is both dressy and humble at the same time. Overall, wasn't disappointed, no wonder the RA-AC0M are more expensive here than RA-AP00. If anyone asks me which Orient (or any mech, for that matter) I'd recommend, this one will be amongst the top three for sure.
I got the same "snow" on the graph for my F6922 Orient, but so far it's been at +8secs/day and I'm happy with it. I was also confused to see that weird pattern..
Price is a no go for me. I would love this modell if it had no date or date@6 : here it breaks something, especially with the white vs beige colour. And finally, even if in house, I don't like the look of their movements (as I don't like the Seiko's ones), so a closed caseback would be great. Thx for reviewing
All mechanicals are going up, up, up! It started with Seiko. Now Orient is raising prices, and, honestly, they should. Even at $300 this is still a great watch. Orient is finally cashing in on their well earned reputation - before, they were almost underselling themselves. I predict that Orient, as the new "Seiko" of years past, will only increase in value -- so get one sooner rather than later!
Good review - this is the colourway I would have chosen too. I have the 40.5mm small-seconds Bambino with the champagne dial - it's a likeable watch, especially for the money - though not particularly legible in poor light. I'm not sure this one works at the price they're asking - I'd rather spend a bit more on the Orient Star Classic, I think.
Thanks for the review. Btw. I would be glad if you could give us some day your thoughts about the Orient Star re-au0006s00b . It seems like an affordable Grand Seiko.
Thanks for the review. I like the size of both the case diameter and the more "conventional" lug width, and of course as it's new, the price is a bit high, but sure in a few months this price will go down. Shame they don't use a saphire crystal for the price they are asking. Maybe your watch has been badly handled in shipping, that could explain the bit error situation.
I have like 18 Watches in my Collection , ok 3 i am selling because i don't like their Sizes , lugs or Quality . I also own some Premium Swiss Made watches which did cost me a lot more than the Orient Bambino 38 , Wearing this watch is so Comfortable , i almost forget that there is a watch on my wrist very smooth , and the Crown , the size makes it easy to set the time and date , it gives the watch a character , the Crowns of the other watches are a bit tricky , especially compared to the Citzen Tsuyosa 😂 Orient and Orient Star is my favorite brand .
Disagree with the criticism here. Sapphire crystal? I haven’t seen doomed sapphire for double the price. Cheap band? No issue for the price, anyway it will be replaced soon. The big issue is the malfunctioning movement though. We’ll see if it gets better over time.
I’m not worried. And thanks for you preview. Just think that price isn’t high for the specs. Do you have any recommendations for much better dress watch at this price point?
Can you make a video on What are good straps for clocks? Both for leather and steel? I have a cheap 35mm Timex. I like the watch but im not satisfyed with the straps. Or what is your go to straps for change if you need it?
I will receive mine in couple of days. Weird think about this Bambino is that Orient has waited too long. Come on the older version were like pizza plates on the wrist. A proper dress watch deserves the 38mm. Finally now Orient has launched it but still you can not find it anywhere. Some sellers have only few pieces of it. A launch of this Bambino should be done different. I am looking forward on mine anyway and already ordered another strap since I was expecting a low quality one
I applaud what Orient have done here. My only niggles are the price is too top heavy for the specs, and for a dress watch to be 12.4mm thick seems more like dive watch territory.
I really like the color of the dial but I'd prefered the hands with the bright blue color of its predecessor. That dark blue is almost like black and kills it for me.
the squeaky strap is what really grinds my gear when i had my hands on the watch. i'm still waiting for the strap to completely break in, hopefully it greatly reduces the squeaking. anyways great video! basically covers everything necessary here
The only watch from a reputable brand thats less than 500$ with a good default bracelet or leather strap i know of is the PRX, I think that bracelets only become decent at the 1000 mark
really nice looking Bambino! Totally not worth the current price, but if/when they come down, they may be worth it (hopefully we'll be able to put a sapphire crystal in this one!!)
A big praise to Orient for the 38mm case size but not a big fan of the blue hand pointers. The one on the previous bambino 40mm is more blue. This one looks more black rather than blue in different light conditions. Even in your video. I though its black at first. The roman numerals are cooler also on the previous one
For faux-croc and faux-alligator straps, there usually is a layer of plastic covering the strap, giving it that grain. They feel really cheap and don't age very well.
$275?! That is unexpectedly high. I know the Bambino is virtually a commodity with so many generations and versions, but this is too high even for a starting point. So many Bambino’s are available on Amazon at around $120. I guess I’ll wait 5 years for (hopefully) the same thing to happen to these 38mm Bambino’s 👍😁
I never saw a calf that had crocodile skin,30 m of water resistance and no sapphire at 275$ Nope ! Ive got an Orient Maestro on mesh with 100m water resistance and Sapphire.Better specs, cheaper and in my opinion much better looking than any Bambino.
The price is the issue. Orient needs to either lower the price or upscale the specifications. Orient movements are typically very good. Unfortunately, this example is not.
I had the bigger version of this one, which was laurel wreathed from all sides, but it left me underwhelmed. The hands were too short (remedied here), but the actual colour of the dial was a bit off and those horrible blue painted hands were really ugly in the flesh. The strap hardly tapered and was, indeed, very plasticky. I sold it on.
I get it! The strap can be changed (much easier to digest on a $100 watch than on a $275) and I see a significant improvement in the hands. But I agree with you, the price bump is not justified
Thanks for getting one to review, I was interested when it launched, but the price and mineral crystal don't match. The movement is very disappointing, I have just received an AliExpress hand winding watch for under £100 with a Chinese movement and it looked much better on the timegrapher.
Great review but the price absolutely kills it , unacceptable movement performance , trash strap , they're almost asking cocktail time money , looks like a leaf out of Seiko's business model book "give you less & ask for more " i wouldn't be surprised if it falls flat on its face , such a shame after finally getting the dimensions in order .
What exactly is wrong with the movement, this is the first critique I've heard of it. At this price point strap is a non issue. Cocktail time pressage is double the price. Ive always considered Seiko the best value brand
Orient is so underrated and so good!

Movement isn't faulty, just incorrect gain setting on the timegrapher. Running perfectly to time.
Does the squeaking from the leather strap wear off after use? Its kind of annoying. Bought mine new
