Just here to say that those of us who love your videos for sleep/ASMR purposes still very much recognize and appreciate your professional expertise. Like your patients, we’re here because you’re good at what you do.

Thanks :) That's my actual living room and I did that video just a week or two before Christmas, when the days are dark and short and chilly in Portland. Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, I appreciate it so much.

Dr Russ, if it matters: before your voice and delivery sends me to sleep, I actually learn a lot!
    Two birds, 1 stone 😂
I find ASMR is usually good intended people doing good ASMR but with little medical, professional knowledge.
And those who are great chiropractors and doctors, full of knowledge, are rubbish at ASMR and engaging delivery.
    You've got both!

I feel like some doctors and other medical professionals have keyed into the fact that ASMR viewers - while not necessarily there for the content of the video in the way the uploader intended it - are nonetheless learning something by watching and/or listening.
It used to be that people would upload their med school head to toe assessments and when they'd get 600k views they'd get deleted and you'd never hear from that person again. There's other people who are well known who have never embraced it, if they're even aware of it at all.
And then there's people like Dr. James Gill who became known from his series of instructional videos for Warwick Medical School; who in discovering his online fame created his own RUclips channel dedicated to it. Now he can continue teaching and have creative control over his content - but also if people want to watch for ASMR and learn something along the way that's great too.

It’s very interesting how we feel like we OWE something to our troubles..
We offer a full-time priority over our thoughts when we have troubles..
And with happy things, we don’t.
We savor happy things for a short time, then file them away to appreciate occasionally..
But troubles, we wear them like a favorite shirt.

Hi David, Part of the ASMR response to your videos goes way beyond your voice. It's the absolute dedication you show to your excellent treatment, never missing a beat as you describe precisely how you are manipulating the body part you're working on, naming it, describing its function and the amount and direction of pressure you are using to ameliorate the discomfort. etc. To get an idea of when you are 'ASMR perfect' revisit the way you use your voice as you describe the location of what you are treating as : "Way deep, way deep in front of her spine" (I believe you're working on a patient named Deidre) in my recording of the video I use most to get me to sleep. It has to do with the way your voice lowers and lightens--but never quite to a whisper--when you slowly say, "...way deep in front of herspine". That phrase throws me right into theta. This sweet video you've produced here to help people sleep relies entirely on your voice But your voice doesn't slow down and get quieter in concert with what you are manipulating. You aren't pausing for a few seconds as you naturally do when working chiropractically. When you resume speaking in earlier videos you often make a gentle mouth noise of your lips opening up in preparation to speak again. (A common and wonderful trigger for us ASMR officianados). Should you ever make another video like this--maybe skip the long intro, start right up at the Yogic 'Note and Release' of body parts. And speak more slowly and, charming as you are--don't try to be funny during this. You come closest when you reach that point in this video and you say 'squeeze and release' with your voice dipping down and quieter for the release. Only don't add the extra narrative. Having said all this, I want you to know that your chiropractic videos are among the very best ASMR-satisfying videos on the internet. So much so that I fantasize about finding out what other people (who appreciate you in the way I do) have also discovered. The ASMR community can be very diverse, and many videos raved about are contrived and ridiculous involving annoying hissing-whispering and fingernail tapping. For those of us who appreciate you , we need the devotion and serious attention to skill as well as the buddha-like calm in discussing what's being done. It's clear when watching you at work, that you are a true healer, a modest man (especially considering your great skills) and a brilliant practitioner. Makes me wish I lived in Portland! In case another of your devotees are reading this comment, please add a link to anyone else you've found with comparable soothing potential. I have only one other that I can add. Unfortunately the sound on this recording is terrible but he (Steven Goldstone , who happens to be a hypnotist, but could be discussing the best leather for shoe cobbling) is my best and only runner up to you David: ruclips.net/video/bFLdYUXC87I/видео.html. (Luckily the female translator's voice is quite calm and easy to ignore). Whew--didn't mean to get so deep into this. David, if you're ever in NY to practice for a few weeks, Please, sign me up for one session every day you're here. I know you could relax my mind and body into a state to accept body part healing like no other. And don't stop making your wonderful videos!! Hope this advise from a genuine ASMR appreciator is helpful--or. at least, amusing to you. And Thank you!!!! Jane K.

What a beautiful comment, thank you so much! I do sometimes wonder what it is about my videos that creates the response in some viewers, and rarely do I get such a deep insight. Your comment has been sitting with me for the last day, and I'm sure that your words will stay with me as I continue on my journey on this amazing platform.
The Deidre video was one of the first we did! I was completely unaware of the effect it might have on some folks, and I think it may be that innocence that you are picking up on, whereas now, yes, I am experimenting with ways to expand that connection to the nervous systems of anyone who may be watching. What's so interesting to me is how different things work for different people...and of course, I am also at the same time hoping to elevate the chiropractic community by disseminating the lessons that I have learned, and provide information for folks who may be suffering or struggling with physical and emotional pain.
It's a fun and rewarding exercise, not least because of comments such as yours, at the same time uplifting and directly feeding back about your experience. Thanks again for your time and the energy you put into your comment. Sincerely! -DR

@@DrRussInYourPocket How lovely of you to read and respond to my comment. This ASMR business isn't very easy for most people to understand. Until about 4 years ago I thought I was the only person on Earth with it. But actually very blessed that I do. With videos like yours around, no need for Xanax. And of course I understand the real and more important purpose of your videos and I sure hope all aspiring Chiropractors take advantage of the gift you offer. I can tell you, having tried maybe 10 chiropractors in my quest to relieve my back pain, and talking to friends with the same experience, there is no one like you practicing anywhere in greater N.Y. or I would have heard about him or her. Maybe your videos will slowly change that. But I think it's more than just your expertise. Expertise can be taught and shared. It's that buddha nature you seem to adapt when you, your skill and your patient seem to meld into one. It's also why you appeal to so many of us 'AMSR-ers'. Nice to know you are in this increasingly distressing world...just being authentically you.🙏

What about perimenopause and menopause? I fall asleep but I don’t stay asleep.

    • @DrRussInYourPocket
      @DrRussInYourPocket  2 месяца назад

Disorders of sleep are very common and very difficult symptom of perimenopause. I know how exhausting it can be. It will pass. In the meantime avoiding sedatives will help in the long term. I can't give specific advice here, but there are many good, safe supplements available for helping you fall--and stay--asleep. You might want to check out our online dispensary and look for our Sleep protocol. The protocol is centered around GABA. L-theanine, magnseium, and melatonin.
