    Simic is called trust fund colours for a reason. 11 years ago, Simic kinda sucked outside of legacy and commander. Then something horrible happened, prophet of kruphix was printed. It was only really a problem in commander, but it gave the wrong person a taste of the kind of power black players felt when necropotence was first printed. I don’t play modern, but I’ve been following the Nadu situation. Seems like the easiest path is the most direct. Ban nadu and it won’t be breaking the format. One thing I’ve learned about magic players: they will find a way to break something. So why give them the opportunity.
    Editing for clarity: why give them the opportunity to find a way to break nadu by simply banning shuko

    • @ExodaCrown
      @ExodaCrown Месяц назад +1

      Because finding new ways to break a card is fun? Though I enjoy the brewing aspect of the game and banning an enabler seems like a fun challenge.
      I don't play modern either, but I am fine with them trying the Shuko ban first to see if it is the bird + Shuko that is broken or just the bird.
      That being said I don't care either way.

    • @sev1120
      @sev1120 Месяц назад

      In modern, Shuko is the only equipment which innately equips for 0
      Now, splash white mana and you can now run Puresteel Paladin, which makes every equipment equip for 0 if you have 3 or more artifacts
      Banning Nadu, rather than Shuko, is the wise move, because uf you ban shuko you'll just gwt the Nadu decks splashing for puresteel

    • @dreyfus37_65
      @dreyfus37_65 Месяц назад

      @@ExodaCrownshuko isn’t the only 0 costing to target though. There’s a creature that targets for 0 whose name I can’t remember, and there’s also lightning greaves. Greaves would be slightly worst than shuko though because you can’t find it with urza’s saga. So there’s three possible things you’d have to ban to find out if it’s truly the bird or not. Sense seems to say just save the headache and ban the bird.
      But like you, I agree. Having said all this, I don’t really care that much and whatever they decide to do is of no consequence to me. I just find moments like this interesting

    • @ExodaCrown
      @ExodaCrown Месяц назад +1

      @@dreyfus37_65 I think I know the one you are talking about. The 0 to redirect damage from it to another creature? I seen it was a 1 of in the deck. I am curious how much switching to using Greaves would affect the deck.
      I was looking at the different decklists of it and while they use 1 Outrider En-Kor none use greaves or the other 0 cost to equip equipment since they usually cost 3. I think the line to draw is if you have to ban shuko and greaves before the bird becomes fair then yeah it should go. There no point in doing bans until the deck becomes unplayable.

    • @dreyfus37_65

Greaves would definitely slow the deck down, hell, even things that cost 1 to target will slow the deck down, but I don’t know if it makes the deck unplayable. When they errata cards it's only when one entire set mechanic gets out of hand, like the Companions or when they make a mistake in the rules text.
      Also if they start to errata cards willy nilly, what's stopping them from errata more cards, like Uro, Oko, Bowmaster, Ragavan, Guide of Souls etc etc.(just petty examples)... sooner instead of banning cards, they'll just Alchemy-up them all.

      Or perpetually removing all abilities from a creature, regardless of zone changes. Including on a commander.

    Okay, but Nadu lost to Merfolk who won at the NRG 5K tourney before Pro Tour, with Nadu placing fourth behind Jeskai Control. Nadu is powerful, but I think folks calling for a ban because of Pro Tour results are experiencing recency bias. Plus, banning Nadu removes the only thing checking Mono Black Necro and Boros Energy from dominating the meta.

    The thing I hate most about Nadu? It means another 4 years (or longer) of unplayable Simic slop. I mean for real, all of the Simic cards that have come out since 2020 Simic are straight dogwater. Hell even with the exception of Nadu, a lot of the Simic cards (even in the Commander deck) are just straight snoozefests.
    Though I am admittedly somewhat partial to Jyogi, since he at least has interesting synergies.

    😂 GU has everything you need to play Magic, play more Magic, deny playing Magic more effectively than every other color or combination of colors.
    Green has the highest amount of mana dorks while also having the highest amount of ramp spells.Green also has protection spells that grant hexproof or indestructible to stop opponents from being able to destroy your threats. Green also has access to draw engines and draw spells which can net you some card advantage. One of green's "weaknesses" is having big creatures that require a lot of mana. Which that is mitigated by its abundant access to mana ramp.
    Blue has the best card advantage draw spells and counter spells. What it lacks is big creatures or big game ending spells but it makes up for it in an abundance of small spells.
    The shared "weakness" of GU is their inability to deal with threats that have hit the board. This is actually untrue. They have spells like Beast Within, Pongify, Lignify, Frogify, Turn to Frog, and Kenrith's Transformation to name a few. It is just more effective to just not let the threats hit the board at all by countering every problematic action your opponent makes.

    Tbh nadu is starting to feel like its creeping up on kennen, like kennen objectively has a more consistent gameplan and overall kore consistency, however that same power is being spead out over complex, hard to follow, i play all the magic while you guys watch kind of gameplan.
    Like sure make infinite kennen is the outlet and the enabler for winning the game and if it goes unanswered they win, i understand this and would much preffer to play against this. Campared to at the end of every players turn at the table the nadu player starts ripping thrasios triggers but not just pay mana do a thing. Its tedious and hard to keep track of too!
    I now have started telling nadu players at the begging of the game, your triggers are your responsibility, if you lose track of them at any point we will all assume youve used them all because going back to check is worse than pulling fingernails out one by one.
    If they ask the question did i already do this guy i say it openly, i dont know and wasnt tracking it so we will assume it has been done for the sake of boardstate, and if they have a problem with it i hit them with well we can always get you a games rule violation for failure to upkeep boardstate, if you cant even keep track of your own damn cards good golly, but time and time again now my casual night has people asking every turn did i do this guy already? I cant remeber cause every single turn i activate 6 things and i cant remember if i did it already this turn for the 5th turn in a row... like bro if you cant rememeber hit the pen less between games and we can all assume you did all the things this turn.
    I have such a problem with decks that take a 4 player game and instead of winning with their power instead they slowly drain the table of any spirt they had while acruing value over the next 12 peoples turns, nadu plays 66% of the magic at a 4 player table tell me im wrong

    Just ban Nabu... WotC themselves made a set where they admitted 1 the power level was a bit on the hard side and that bans would come 2 that it was commander first modern price hike second.
    So just ban Nabu. Nobody will be surprised when the set is already overclocked and has already bans in it....that or you ban a equipment that is years old that only effected nabu in a spefic way, until either you find a new combo tool or wotc happens to print a common that fits the bill because they forgot that 1 cost 0 equip is spefic nabu territory.

    The reason you ban shuko is SPECIFICALLY because greaves as a win con is not tutorable with urzas saga. Why isn’t that an argument? The 1 mana difference also does make an impressionable difference in what you can and can’t play when nadu “goes off.”
    Shuko in itself is a bad card. Before nadu, that was a crappy 3-4 dollar card. Hitting shuko wouldn’t affect the meta besides specifically nadu.
    Also personally, I think the idea of a card that has an infinite game action built into itself is kind of crazy and begging to be broken. Greaves and shuko both saying “equip whatever, whenever, as much as you want” is wild! ,, and shuko has it coming with lands that make it so easy to tutor.
