  • On this episode we check out Seiko's return to form in the in midsize diver space. Although not a perfect watch, the JDM SBDN069 (SNE569 International) has so many little details to love. This dive watch perfectly balances versatile aesthetics, blending a modern and robust look with classic iconography, that still ready very much as a Seiko diver, while not indulging in the typical Seiko overly quirky playbook. I'm enjoying this one so much more that I thought I would, let me know what you all think in the comments below, thanks guys!

Great video on a sweet spot piece, absolutely love mine. Perfect dimensions and still looks substantial even at 38.5mm. I wanted something I could wear playing tennis and golf without worrying about jarring the movements in my mechanical watches, and it will always be set anytime I grab it from my watch box. Sapphire crystal, 200m rating with screw-down crown, mostly brushed case (polished can look cheap), a perfectly usable rubber strap, great lume, and handsomely understated looks with the smaller round indices. What’s not to love for around $350? No brainer!

Great review! I bought this watch as a graduation present for myself. I have fallen completely in love with it I must say. So much so my interest in watches has died down just because this watch checks off so many things I've been looking for in a watch. Primarily, I love the way that it's a universal watch that elevates any attire you have from the most casual to the most formal of occasions. In this sense as well as in regards to color theme and case thin-ness, it reminds me very much of the Brosnan Bond Omega Seamaster 2541.80, which I used to own. In fact, I think this watch has come close to reinterpreting that Omega more so than the Tudor Submariner, although I can also see where the Tudor resemblances come in. But long-story short, this has become my one-watch for everything and has thus fortunately and unfortunately ended my watch collection journey... for now at least😂

I average about 8 to 9 months between full charges, and a full charge takes about 6 hours of direct sunlight.
They can often be found for about $220 to $250 USD brand new if you shop around, too. Which is a great price considering what you're getting!

Everything lined up on my example and looks like it will run within 1 minute per year without correction. The bracelet could be better in terms of the hollow end links and pressed clasp, but it is very comfortable in the actual wearing experience. Definitely recommended and a huge step up from a Seiko 5.

Thanks for a closer look at this watch and your unique spin on it. Was tempting when Escapement and Watch showed this a few weeks ago (maybe a month ago?). You have pushed me further along in wanting to get this. I have absolutely no need for it given what I have and incoming already. BUT, the classic style and really it's the particular tone of that bezel insert really catches my eye and keeps this one in my head.
On a tight budget, I think this is a great not so expensive way to get the look and feel of a vintage submariner, Rolex or Tudor, without committing to an homage replica/copy of one.
Have to think about it a bit more... I already have a grab and go watch, a custom modded G-Shock. However, there's something to having a grab and go analog watch, also.. for when I don't want to grab and go a digital watch... Plus, my G-Shock isn't as versatile given the titanium camo mod I've done to it.
Hmm... At Sakura I know they have a disclaimer on the alignment. But, if there are notes to add on order made at Sakura, I would still try and request if they would kindly make sure to check the bezel, chapter ring and second hand alignment before shipping out.
