A someone who lives in NY, a Regents diploma was a requirement to graduate high school here. As of literally two weeks ago it no longer is and it's mostly because a lot of kids these days are not smart enough to pass a Regents level class....mind you I HAD to pass Regents classes or I would fail my grade....so the idea that we're just lowering the bar for them to graduate rather than try new ways to get them to understand these standards that have been around for decades is concerning to me. I get that not all other states require Regents diplomas and NY is one of only a handful of states that did this but still. I worry about this countries future if we're just gunna keep lowering the bar for them because we've given up on trying to find new ways to teach them.
and this is a byproduct of the fact that blacks+hispanics perform horrendously on these standardized exams; in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion we are lowering the bar. There are a lot of social rationalizations for this phenomena; however, the natural outcome of these leftist policies are clear to anyone paying attention.
In CO they didn't even make me take math, english, history, science in senior year. It was lovely. This was 2012. No regrets, but you're not wrong either lmao.
it not just dumb VS smart, its misbehaved VS well-behaved, there are are kinda slow people that the disciplined and orderly and have decent lives, like politicians
Tying money for education to the actual student is the most important thing. The average cost per student is 17,000 dollars per year. Could you imagine how many people would homeschool their kids with that? If you’re a family making the average household income of 70k a year that’s huge. If dad is making 40 and mom is making 30 and you have two kids, suddenly mom can stay home and you end up with more money than you started with.
At my school we had A days and B days. You went to different classes on each of those days. Why can't we have A class, B class, and C class? A is for super smarts, b for average and c for below average kids
That's what we have in the UK your assigned to a class with people who are the same level as you so you can all work on th same things it helps the teacher as well because they don't have to focus on multiple students with different learning levels
We had special ed for super disabled kids, remedial classes for kids who arent "disabled" who need a lot of extra help, a remedial help type of system that for classes someone is struggling in they could go get extra help during the normal class, regular classes and gifted classes. It was a pretty good system. The only part that sucked is kids being kids. If someone went to go to the help classes a lot of people would feel embarrassed.
Thats what my area of canadas been trying to drop recently A lot of kids go into highschool underperforming and having no idea what they want to do. Most still dont really know what they want to do by the end of highschool, but a lot still have a better idea than 3-4 years prior When they have to redo half of their grade 9/10/11 classes or do 4 years in community college to get into the program they want, a lot are just gonna say screw it and not shoot for what they want
@@braxtonvestal777it’s because schools in themselves are a flawed concept now, kids dont like being forced to go places anymore leading to worse participation rates and lowers the amount kids pay attention, also leads to horrible behavior in highschool as not wanting to be somewhere and not wanting to hear someone teach useless things to your life makes you a really bitter person

More male teachers and better candidates are needed. Scrap the DOE, get rid of tenure, use some of the money saved to pay teachers more (to make the jobs more competitive) and give the rest back to parents for tutoring
There's a lot the DOE could do for education. Unfortunately, the people who are running the DOE ihave no idea how education works. A disturbingly high number of teachers and educators simply can't teach. The DOE is also trying to work on multiple conflicting missions. One of the worst of which is equality of results. Equality of results is always an impossible goal. Not just in education, but in any activity involving human beings. Last rent. Far too many teachers are only qualified in General Education and lack the skills and knowledge to teach anything specific. Like reading, history, mathematics.
