Wow. I appreciated what you said about The Engineer's procedure. They did it to my sister, and she (78) is not doing so well, but I think her back pain isn't as bad. Beautiful quilt-- I"ve only been quilting since July (about 3 months) and have been trying to do an "around the world". Thank you.
That’s exciting Becky, that now you know another way! That’s why I love RUclips, and quilting with other quilters, I always learn so much. thank you for watching my videos, I really appreciate it😊‼️
I've been watching several people make these and have decided to press between the unpicking and sewing the columns. This allows alternate columns up and down. Improves accuracy and fewer flipped seams. Otherwise, loved your methodology.
Thank you for loving my methodology, 👩🏫 I love that everyone can quilt how it works for them and glean tips from others. This is a great community🥰. Thanks for watching my channel❤️😊🐥
I like learning an aha moment, that was the tape method. My first quilt was a trip around the world for my daughter’s high school graduation present. I followed Miss Eleanor Burns, Quilt in a Day on PBS. I’m glad to hear that the Engineer is pain free.
Message me through Instagram or Facebook and I’ll send you a picture of a Scrappy trip around the world made just the way you were describing. It’s kind of fun and happy.
I’m a recent subscriber and I don’t like pink much either. I am going to be watching how you do this. Greetings to all the quilters from me in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. 😀🇨🇦❤️
After a very long but happy day, I get to sit with my hand sewing and watch you work. I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for sharing this video as well as your time and talent.
You are so welcome Gloria! That is quite a compliment, I really appreciate it. Thank you for watching my videos hugs back at ya🤗🤗. PS: I am laying back in the recliner under that very quilt right this very minute, it’s been a long day.
Wow what a blessing his back is better. I 20 yrs ago had a smashed vertebrae and they put a 12" rod in the middle of my back tipping me forward disabling me from everything but quilting. That procedure was experimental and wouldn't do it on me. Ty for your videos
That's interesting about the history of the procedure. My step mom had it done in 2012 and it was amazing then. That's how I knew about it. On the bright side, I'm so glad you can quilt, it's such a creative outlet, hobby and business. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you for a fantastic tutorial. I did not know the name of that block but had been dissuaded to try it due to the number of teeny tiny squares that had to be cut. Your method is so clever and so simple that I shall give it a try. Thank you so much, once again
I really enjoy your videos. I have to say on this particular quilt I think I would have not used the orange as I am not a fan of that color. (to each his or her own) You really do a lovely job!
I've made a Trip Around the World for my second child. I have gathered up the fabric to have another go of it. My blocks are going to be much bigger. I'm thinking may five-inch square. We will see. I was also wondering where you got your amazing stiletto. It looks awesome. For some reason I have never purchased one before. Thanks, and great job. Also, you're a very good teacher.
Wow, 5” squares would make a big Trip Around The World. However, it would piece together fast😊 I bought it at a quilt shop on a trip. I’ve seen them all over Etsy, try Googling them. They’re about $30. Thank you so very much, I do love sharing. Also thank you for watching my channel. 😊‼️
I have always wanted to make a Trip Aound the World quilt, bkut found it a bit intimidating. Your tutorial made it seem very doable. I can't wait to see the completed top and how you lay it out so I can start my own quilt. Thanks for sharing.
Jordan fabrics also makes the trip around the world and she breaks it up in four sections and go to her channel and check it out and she tied her quilt. And and some Bargello quilts are very interesting and they’re made in a similar fashion.
That’s awesome ❣️. I have a small house with not many quilt display areas. I hang mine in the stairway😂. I’m so happy you’re making the applique hearts😍💕❤️
gawd, how i dislike chatty how-to videos, forcing me to fast-forward through that or in extreme cases, close the video to go in search of a just the facts, ma'am format. except this video 😀. just learning to quilt (a bucket list thing), been watching quilting vids for days, and gotta sub this sister.
I resolved not to begin a new quilt until July so I could concentrate on getting my UFOs finished, but I am so tempted by this. Look forward to seeing your finished quilt.
I'm so glad the engineer's surgery went well! That must be a big relief for both of you. I've always been intrigued but intimidated by trip around the world quilts. I thought you had to cut all of those tiny blocks, then lay them out and stitch together. Love how you are doing this! Can't wait to see the final quilt.
I really liked to see both videos. My question is about the design wall. I noticed you had it folded in one verson. Could talk about it and show it from a different angle. If you already have I have missed that episode.
I can’t recall which episodes I talk about it in. It’s a design wall quilt😱! One layer of Soft and Bright quilted to percale (the price was right. You can use any fabric you want.) I bind it with very thick, 4.5”, binding to give it a border. See my studio/shop tour for more details. It’s my second video.
Yes but it will be really big 😳. For continuity, I would sort your 5” squares by color. It will also work if you cut your 5” squares into 4, 2 1/2” squares. Again the scrappy works when they’re sorted by color. Good luck and email a picture. TFW😊❤️🐥
@@sisterchicksquilting I am looking to make a 7x6 ft quilt..so have to sort the colors and use a grid book to know how many square blocks I need..would be my third quilt ever and am excited to create it from scratch
That should be fun and beautiful just think of it in terms of a few more blocks. You’ll have to email me a photo of the finished quilt, Leisa. Thank you.♥️😊🐥

@@sisterchicksquilting so could this be made with random scrap strips and keeping no colour order as you did with yours or would that look weird?

Thanks 😊 TFW❣️
Love the washi tape on the cutting mat trick. And your block looks great! Can you do any size squares for a trip around the world quilt?
April
Yes, the block size is up to you. 2.5” was easiest for me because I had the bin of 2.5” strips. Washi tape is a great tool. 👋
