I worked at a hotel on Edgewater and I am so happy I left that environment. People cars where getting broken into and stealing cars. I was afraid for my own vehicle and security. The hotel also had no security and gate so it made it hard. When reporting crime the officers would be came late or not at all. It was frustrating to tell the guests how careless the PD handles these situations.
I have my own experience: last year I went to chipotle and I seen a team of girls that’s talking and walking around I hear one of them say “someone broke into our van” and I asked where they were from and they said Nebraska and they were in the building for less than 8 minutes and got hit

I recently returned from Eastern Europe and while there never once feared what I should if I visit Oakland, Chicago, San Fran, New Orleans, and, and, and.
DO NOT GO TO THE WENDY’S gas station/ Starbucks just off the freeway exit before the airport. Use to work at Oakland Airport and I use to go there before work. The custodians can’t clean up the glass on the floor quick enough.

I frequent this Starbucks in between my Lyft driving shifts. I had no idea it was this bad. While I know some parts of the world has it worse, it is also shameful to see what is becoming of the Bay Area. Im starting to feel less hopeful of it’s future. Be safe, everyone. God bless. 🙏🏾

When the cost to do business goes too high due to crime, the businesses cannot survive. They shut down. And then criminals get more desperate, and boost other stores. And the doom loop continues.

I don't have this issue in my town. I wonder what specifically is so different in my mostly republican and blue collar area that prevents this from happening. Just so strange.
None here in my red state either. Shoplift or break into cars then it's handcuffs for sure.

I agree with locking people away, but it is happening in red states also. The three highest homicide rates are in red states. It is a problem everywhere.
