Sure, Yamamoto’s contract is enormous, but he’s won the Sawamura Award, the NPB’s equivalent of the Cy Young Award, and the MVP for three consecutive years. At just 25 years old, he still has many good years ahead of him. If he can fully adapt to MLB, he could dominate here too.🗻👏

Patience! This is his first season in a new country, different thinking, food, air, water, culture, mentality, language he can’t understand..continental travel with time zones..new batters to get to know..! Give him little space. He’ll figure it out! Even if his first season isn’t perfect his second season, he’ll be 26 years old (only) he will get in rhythm 🎵

Adjust quickly, can also mean crumble quickly as there is no foundation build up..more like a novelty pitcher but nobody knows, even the pitcher himself don’t know what makes it work..
He’s 5 years older and given more opportunity also on the team he’s on vs Yamamoto on the dodgers

Also, you said that Imanaga is “given more opportunity.” How so? Both pitchers are starters. The Dodgers have not skipped any of Yamamoto’s starts. They also altered the rotation so he gets the same amount of rest as he did in Japan.
