We missed a golden opportunity to convince Jinx that fish fingers and custard are a British staple!!!!
Yes, they did, but this is the new era so they are trying to separate it
Aww I'm still watching the video and I was really hoping they'd come up next haha
The show doesn't want to look back anymore though, only forwards
@@mattevans4377 There still were jammy dodgers tho ✨
😂😂Confession from a dumb American... I thought they were. Lol In my defense... Well, you have to admit that "Fish Fingers and Custard" sounds plausible.
Jammy Dodgers? You mean the TARDIS Self-Destruct button??
Lol
Nice call back
I LOVE Jammie Dodgers! And I'm not British! Get them at my local stores whenever I can! 😊😊
@@KathleenHolland-nk8nk I think Jammie Dodgers are equivalent to the raspberry jam shortbread cookies we have here in the US.
I understood that reference
Imagine if there's a seperate universe where this is canon to doctor who and instead of killing them or whatever maestro just forced ruby and the doctor to make them british food to try lol.
This is whats happening inside the piano
@@guy3854 YEA LOL
@@guy3854 God, the imagery is so funny lol
She'd be happy with scones, jam and clotted cream by the looks.
Welsh cake is basically a small scone stone baked.
That's a fan fiction I'd buy.
When a scotch egg is described it makes you realise how processed they are.
True. Though there's a world of difference between a quality scotch egg purchased in a restaurant, or butcher's shop, and the poorer supermarket kind served up in this video. 🙂
Yes. I roll mine down a hill of Grits... Eeeew! Now there's some processing!
@@CRINOTH Totally! You can bounce the ASDA ones into the sky if they hit the pavement hard enough. Had amazing ones in Ypres in Belgium. Opened my eyes up.
FISH FINGERS AND CUSTARD💀!!!
How could you waste such a perfect opportunity to troll Jinx with that?! 😭
I KNOW!! I was waiting for that!! When they were wrapping up their opinions on everything I was like wait a second that’s it?! The staff didn’t even give them fish n chips! I ate that soooo much when I got to visit! And mushy peas haha
I completely forgot about that! It would have been great!
That was in the cut scenes. Too many expletives.
What maestro is going through in the the piano 😂
She probably hijacked 13's custard creme lever.
I mean, the last two are obviously good if they have the Matt Smith and Jodie Whittaker stamp of approval respectively
How the British Tortured the Villain
lmao, quality
What no jelly babies? Tut tut.
@Mohegan13 - Obvious omission.
I tried jelly babies and I absolutely did not like them. I don't remember why I didn't like them, but they were not very good at all.
was thinking the same thing! i'm American but have family in the UK, and every time they visit i ask if they can bring me some Jelly Babies! :)
Welsh Cakes should be
Warm and Straight from the cooker
With Butter
Jinx I challenge you to try Welsh Cakes again from the Pontypridd Market and ensure you try it with butter.
Or at least with a cup of black tea; which lets the cakes become a wonderful doughy experience.
The ones in Newport market are my favourite
They also gave a crap scotch egg straight from a garage most likely, at least give a decent one. Same for the pork pies, there are places which do really good mini pork pies.
@@BodiesandBricks I go here there and everywhere so Ill come give that a go at some point fsho
@@Lucretia9000 Thing is the BBC Wales studio on cardiff bay is literally a walk away from some local businesses where the Doctor Who experience was. surely they could've looked there. or gone to Cardiff Central to look in the market.
Americans may disparage our food, but they go nuts for our dessert snacks. Seeing Jinkx's joy at jammy dodgers was amazing.
The only seasoning the British do well is Sugar.
I'm American, and I love Scotch Eggs. I'll have to reserve an opinion on Welsh Cakes until I get to try them.
I mean that's cuz your desserts are just cookie/biscuit with some sorta filling and your meals are egg and pork sausages and beans and tomatoes and toast with no seasonings
This American loves himself some Jammy Dodgers (hint, you should market them over here.)
@@gremlinwc8996 Spoken as someone who has clearly never tried british food... you just described a full english, we don't have a full english for breakfast lunch and dinner sweetie! You're just parroting what other people have told you
No way an American went head-to-head with English mustard AND WON!
Colman's Mustard is the only way to party.
It's different from ours?
@@christianschoff2490ngl the fda approves of poison that no other regulatory establishment would ever allow, so yeah mustard is probably different over there
English mustard is as hot as real Wasabi sauce. Unlike American mustard which is diluted with mayonnaise. Edit. This is a misconception based upon a product called "American Mustard" here in the UK which is mustard mixed with mayonnaise.
whith as bland as British food is I'm surprised British go head to head with British mustard and win.
This is Doctor Who and you didn't have her try jelly babies???
They're basically Sour Patch Kids without the sour.
@@BubuBORG patch kids
I love jelly babies! Nearly impossible to get in the states, though. :(
@@SNESPrime I've never seen them in a US store so I got some off Amazon a few months back and what sucks is now they're a favorite of mine but I can only get them internationally
@@SNESPrime in Canada you can probably find them in British or Scottish stores... haven't checked yet for jelly babies I think I saw jammie dodgers tho. IDK if the usa has such stores. if not might have to order online.
Nooooo😭 Whoever bought the food should’ve gone to Cardiff market, as they do the greatest Welsh cakes in the universe, they are absolutely delicious😋
don't use them jammy dodgers on us MAESTRO!!!
Her laugh is the about the most infectious but also kinda evil thing I've ever heard. Great cast for Doctor Who villain, hope to see more appearances.

Her doctor who episode was so good . Was one of my favorites

So basicly a psycho
No Greggs? For shame!
Greggs... the food chain that killed off so many traditional local bakeries. No thanks.

Imagine a season finale where the Maestro actually WINS and we don't get a resolution until the next season.
@@magesentron yikes… my poor heart couldn’t take it…😂
I’d be game for anything… I think she would be wonderful as the master too…
Its a guy dingus
as a Brit it does take some outsider perspectives to make me realise that yeah pork pies and scotch eggs are pretty damn gross😂
As an American who has had both, I actually like them haha
If you have the budget, Ham Hock pies are dream like. Properly seasoned meat (mustard being one such seasoning) in a pie. As a vegetarian, this is one of the few meat foods I genuinely miss eating.
@@LavosGamingI'm also an American, and I like both.
Scotch eggs are awesome! (If only they were easier to make.)
I’m American and I love scotch eggs! I didn’t get around to eating a pork pie when I was there though to my shame. Next time I’m there I’m on it!
So RTD has flipped the American film trope of the bad guy being British with bad guy being American???
1996: Eric Roberts as the Master
2018 - 2021: Chris Noth as Jack Robertson
2023: NPH as the Toymaker
2024: Jinkx Monsoon as Maestro
that laugh ❤
Jinkx absolutely killed it they brought an amazing level of madness to the role.
“If you liked this food, you’d give it a 6 or 7 out of 10” is such a burn. It’s like they’re saying there’s no one on the PLANET who’d give it a higher rating 😂
tbh for me its true, I love scotch eggs, i enjoy them but compared to other foods? It's mid. lol
Wait…good of Games, God of Music…are we gonna get a God of Food?
Me,
I eat all the food
@@diccchocolate416 I was once asked whether I liked seafood. I replied, "sure! I see food and eat it!"
Isn't that Gordon Ramsay? 🙃
Scotch eggs would be okay if it wasn't for the TOTAL lack of anything resembling seasoning or flavour. They usually don't even have salt
I heard seasoning is illegal in Britain!😮
@@BEE-oz7yd colonized everyone for spices and still use none lmao
She said the egg was wrapped in sausages. Isn't it salty enough?
@@sabrinatirabassi3529 No because the sausage is also unseasoned? Welcome to Britain
They’ve been given basic supermarket versions. A good version is seasoned with spices and is quite salty, hence the need for mustard to cut through it.
What a performance in that episode! absolute perfection! didn’t know who Jinkx waa because I live in Oz and don’t watch much TV but as soon as I saw the devils chord as I am an old doctor who fan I’m like who IS that?! Maestro MUST return somehow coz it was such a standout! That performance Deserves an award! 🎉
Jinx you are lovely, amazing in who.
Where are the jelly babies?
Maestro needs to come back!
Credit to Jinkx Monsoon. The portrayal of The Maestro is excellent. Great performance as well.
Respect for demolishing english mustard without even flinching
This is the most normal outfit I've seen jinx waer in like years
I liked her character. You empathize with her and not over-acted.
What about fish fingers with custard???
11th would be happy with the rating of the tardis self destruct buttons
Here for the relentless Jinx giggle 🤣
I hope Jinx is in more episodes to come! Was a proper fun villain
When I saw a scotch egg, I thought the outer was falafel.
I love that Jinkx playing a villain allows her to be 100% honest about everything.
Hocus Pocus
Ok now I want to try the egg. The description made it sound like a perfect breakfast.
Admittedly the US has something similar with gummi bears, but the producers also missed a trick with jelly babies. Maybe also the legally controversial snack: jaffa cakes.
I hope Jinx gets to come back and share an episode with Neil Patrick Harris so we can see the family relationship.
OMG, come on, Russell, i would pay actual money to see Jinkx and NPH play off each other, having to put aside their differences to take down The Doctor, but they're still bitterly trashing each other at every given opportunity. The Toymaker acting like the disappointed father, and Maestro playing the part of the bratty, rebellious teenager.
@@XanderWhovian I wouldn't say 'dissapointed' father, I would say 'toxic' father. Sounds more suitable for the Toymaker.
So let make this show for all the gay people arounf the world..AND F*CK OFF the real fans.
OK....
Omg her expression of face is so delicate even in real
I feel that the Maestro might have been defeated more easily if they were just served a 3 course British meal.....
To be fair that scotch egg looked dried out and kinda gross. You need to have a fresh one 👏🏽
Fish fingers and custard AND a Greggs sausage roll are two glaring omissions here bbcdoctorwho

I picked up a pack of Jammie Dodgers for our watch party yesterday. I dunked them in my coffee. Didn't feel like making tea that morning. Really good cooki...biscuits.
Where´s Jelly Babies? 😍
Someone took a food note from Britain's food geniuses.
Personally, as an American, my British thing that I've been converted to is Heinz (The imported British version) beans on toast with eggies.
So … Marmite on toast … ?
Seeing an American eat a scotch egg isn’t something I expected to see on the Doctor Who RUclips channel of all things.
So mustard with pork pies, but dry welsh cakes (no butter or a cup of black tea?)
No butter or tea should be necessary. Welsh Cakes should be soft and moist even on their own, not dry and crumbly.
@@ftumschk in the realm of Off The Shelf, they will be.
They look like Brace’s Welsh cakes, by far the worst available
I'm surprised Jinx didn't like Scotch Egg, we Americans love fried food!
Jinkx has said in a podcast episode that they don't like hard boiled eggs, so this was just their personal preference
@@glitchedgirI Oh okay that makes sense.

Jinkx is amazing, hope to see them again soon!
I'll be honest, I am British and I've never even heard of Welsh Cakes.
Then again, I've also never been to Wales.
I have been to Wales, several times and I've never heard of Welsh Cakes!
No tea? Or birdseye potato waffles?
Damn, she really does naturally laugh like The Toymaker
Can't tell if this is Maestro or Jinkx Monsoon lmao
give poor Jinx a cuppa and heat those things up! Or better still an IRN BRU
Should have been proper pork pies straight from the butchers shop, absolutely Delicious 😋
She saying that Jammie Dodger is the best snack and somehow I was imagining Jamie (from jammiedodger channel) making an appearance.
Clearly she likes sweets better than savories to begin with, or how else could anyone go "yuck" at the description of a Scotch egg?
Well, this is what the Maestro could’ve been doing mukbangs before Timothy Drake discovered the Lost Chord.
I can’t get enough of Jinkx as Maestro!
Great actor, Master vibes
LOL, I must say Jinkx was absolutely amazing in Dr Who, played the role superbly
Jinkx’s giggle is too lovely x
Britain is the only country I know of that still eats as if they're at war.
I visited from New Orleans... we ate London hotel food and you could taste the WW1 stuggle 😢
With this government, there's truth to that. Food bank use is on the rise.😢
When I went to London for 4 days, every meal I ate was amazing. Except for the cheap diner where I ordered a full English breakfast.
That's literally Angry Kid like
If Jinkx doesn't care for pork products, then the items with pork should not have been included.
I have a feeling they did not put much thought or effort into this.
I'm not a fan of Scotch eggs or pork pies myself but those British sausage rolls though
11 would be proud.
Video: Here try some pork pies
Me: ok cool pork pies they are good
Video: *also gives mustard*
Me: what? What? WHAT?
seriously whoever decided to give mustard alongside a pork pie needs a stern talking too, pork pies are sacred and do not require any condiments, adding anything to them is sacrilege
Please.
Someone from the Type 2 land of fast "food" does not, despite the acting here, would not have a problem with eggs or sausage and definitely has no problem with fried foods.
MAR MIGHT
Gotta love a good jammy dodger and a custard cream ❤
Well, I think I would love scotch eggs. What's not to love in a fried meatball? Maybe the egg would be slightly too much...
1. WHO GIVES SCOTCH EGGS A 3/10?! also 0:48 that laugh 🤣
Hi Ms. Jinkx, you did a great job on trying the no thank you portions. I grew up on the no thank you portions when I was a little girl, growing in New Hampshire (USA), my biological Dad's live in girlfriend of whom, became a second to me since I was 3 years old in 1979. She had introduced me to some of the foods that i might like or, don't like! That trick had worked for me eversence then! I was grate for that and it went into my adulthood for the rest of my life. As for the cookies, you've done totally awesome with them!!!!!! God Bless you!
Sincerely,

Does she always laugh like a Toymaker's giggle?
That's her usual laugh.
As far as Whovian snacks go jammy dodgers are second only to jelly babies.
Who puts mustard on a pork pie??
I've never heard that but it's not that much weirder than Branston pickle
I do. The mustard varies with where the pie originates.
As an American what surprised me about pork pies was just how salty the filling is. Maybe I just had a not great one.
