THANK YOU for your hard work on this podcast. rock as a collector of genesis & pink Floyd your podcast have filled in the gaps of my knowledge of my fave progressive rock band and open me up to other bands from the 70's
Great upload ! Regarding Seconds Out, the 'Half Speed Mastering' version is really gripping ! You can hear more percussion from Bill, and the depth of the Hammond sounds amazing. Well worth getting !
Andy here.. not really got into the Half Speed Mastering thing as yet... Next thing to check out when I get my new deck... Thanks for the comment 😎 And don't forget to share the podcast, we need to spread the word ha ha. Prog On!
I liked, thank you! I'm glad that I have at least half of albums from your top 10 (and some additional that you presented). Some things you mentioned were new to me. Other live things I have and like are for ex. BJH "Berlin", Saga "In Transit", Peter Gabriel Plays Live (I think this is still prog).
All great albums Vytautas, It was really difficult to create a top 10 you have to leave so many out, and after the podcast I remembered a few which I could have quite easily put in. Good fun though and the Barclay James Harvest live in Berlin is a great album 😎
Vital is my number one. A record that is as its title says vital because of its unique line-up and its unique sound. An interesting twist on the known tracks plus material not found on other albums. And has to be one of the most atmospheric albums ever, with Hammill at his most inspired as a vocalist. In my humble opinion.
Very good idea. 2 guys with a lot of experience about the progRock. Surely not easy to claim 10 the best, for there had been many superb bands playing progRock in the past. Many german fans enjoined ProgRock in the 70s to the 90s. Greetings to my friend Andy
Hey Friedhelm, Andy here.. great to see you here. I think we need to do another one, there are so many great live albums that are worthy. I think we needed to get out the ones we grew up with, but I'd like to do another with other bands that deserve a show to themselves. I've been listening to a few this evening such as Genesis Archives, some great live stuff there, Kansas Point Of Know Return Live & Beyond, Fromuz - Quartus Artifactus which is insane and A stone’s Throw From The Line - Big Big Train. 😎
Imo, the The best thing about ESL by Rush is the monumental 3-part suite Broon's Bane - The Trees - Xanadu. They should have played it as a suite from then on.
I will post each day 2 songs of bands you both named. Tonite Steve Hillage Hurdy Burdy in England and Choes at Pompeii. I think my Musicgroup will enjoy ;)
