The R211A has separate cars. The R211T has the open gangway. The contract awarded to Kawasaki Heavy Industries was 1.75 billion dollars for 535 R211 subway cars but I read an article not long ago that said they won’t see revenue service until January 2025. It’s gonna be a while because Kawasaki is screwing up big time with mismanagement and turnover.
Did anyone notice the interior poles of 4060 and 4065 are silver? I wonder if that was an accident or if they plan on changing the interior pole color. Edit : and 90% of 4061...
They'll be better off at Coney or Jamaica honestly. The R46s used to be well taken care of when they came out of Jamaica. Pitkin is the worst smh. The R179s already look like they have been in service for 20 years smh
In case the R 211 has any mechanical problems and can't operate on its own. They retrieve the electrical portion of the coupler and make a mechanical connection and push/pull it out of there
I'd mid that the R211 have 20068 hours to it's first day in revenue service. In the bright side, let's see if the R211's goes rusty and root cause of this problem. For example this new version of the R211 will be tried.

If it has a protection train, it is still testing the equipment. They would not need to do that if they were just training crews on the new equipment. I suppose they will need to train many crews on the new equipment before they will let them loose on the PAX. I wish I could come to the city again, but I do not know if this can happen, so just keep taking pictures for me! Maybe next year... Maybe the crime will go away by then. Maybe we can get the Russians to open a gulag for us. we could pay them to take all of these kids who cause all of this trouble.
@PATTY BEATS another side benefit of using Pitkin Yard is that during inclimate weather some testing can still be conducted under the "roof" over the test track there, so it won't be a wasted day.
I love the R211 design. But I wish they also used the long blue wrap for the middle cars. That’s what some R160s got in preparation for the R211.
I agree, these were supposed to come with color. It can still be changed but people better speak up and send the memo to the MTA.

I thought the blue stripe was part of the original design wrap, I remember seeing some early renders showing that stripe on the middle cars.

The train is stainless steel, it is resistant to corrosion/rust
