      Those movies mean everything to him. LOTR was the first big production he took part on and Eomer was the first big role he played. They catapulted his career as an actor and gave him enough notoriety to stand out.

      He does a great job of disappearing into a role. He's not Karl Urban in a costume, he's Leonard McCoy. He's not Karl Urban in a costume, he's Dredd. He's not Karl Urban in a costume, he's Éomer. A lot of big name actors, I can only see them as the actor in every role, Dwayne Johnson is a good example, but Karl Urban is one of the rarer actors who is talented enough to pull off completely unique characters for every role

      I might not even like the movie he is in and still think he nails it. I didn't like any of those Star Trek movies, but he was absolutely perfect as McCoy, only bested by Zachary Quinto.

    The scene with him running to Eowyn in the extended version is a superb bit of acting. Karl is a fantastic actor.

      the trilogy's casting deserves a separate award. even though PJ couldn't follow the books word by word, he did a tremendous job, and these actors showed the world how it's done and most of them are now top-tier celebrities. Amazon wishes they knew how to do that)

      So the aragorn of the movie is very different from the aragorn of the book. In the book he wants to become king and would have done so sooner if not for being part of the fellowship. In the movie he doesn't want to and only reluctantly accepts. however I still picture Vigo mortensen as both

      @@shizukagozen777 I would gladly take a DVD set of every single second of excess footage and bloopers they had even if it was longer than the actual trilogy. Everyone seemed like they had such a genuinely amazing time making these movies, you just don't see that kind of stuff anymore where every single member of the crew from actor to director had nothing but passion for what they were doing.

    Eomer realizing Eowyn was on the battlefield is still one of the strongest movie moments I've seen. Love Urban's portrayal.

    The helmet is a masterpiece, just like the LOTR trilogy. I will never forget the look of Eomers face when he charges towards the oliphants with his spear raised.

      That’s the first charge of the Rohirrim in the battle for Minas Tirith - towards just orcs, that scene is pretty iconic, quite possibly the greatest battle scene ever filmed. Karl Urban and Bernard Hill (theodin) really make that scene

    The nose guard fashioned like a horse is what makes the helmet along with the horse hair like a mane. Richard Taylor and Weta were true craftsmen.
    Plus rebellious Eomer will make for a very proficient first King of the Third Line.

      It perfectly resembles an old Anglo-Saxon ornamental helmet with a bit of Celtic influence. Exactly as Tolkien designed the Rohan to be. That's why it's so good. It respects the source material at every corner.

    I always forget just how much he’s been in. He’s had major roles in some of the biggest movie franchises but it was a leading role in a streaming show that made me think “Whoa, he’s getting his big break”.

      Dredd wasn't a great film by any means. Karl was kind of wasted in it to be honest. He should have suited it, but didn't somehow. Karl is VERY impressive and played an extremely tough, no-nonsense character who commanded HUGE respect in Eomer. He WAS Eomer, and I loved him for it. The actor was melded to the character.
      The only actor who actually could ever play Judge Dredd was Clint Eastwood, because he WAS Judge Dredd, always, in every way conceivable.

      @@Sionnach1601 I gotta disagree with you. While the movie wasn't perfect by any means, I think it's a very good movie and that Urban played the role perfectly. That being said, I haven't seen the original, so that obviously will change our views. But on it's own, without comparing it to anything, I think it's a solid film. One day I'll watch the original.
      Edit: I was confused and had it in my head that Clint Eastwood played the original Judge Dredd instead of Stallone.

    My kids just watched all 3 hobbit films immediately followed by all 3 LOTR films! Twas their first time seeing them :) They loved all of it and that made my heart so happy. Thank you for your performance!

    Éomer, prince of Rohan and commander of the Rohirrim. I used to have a marathon of LotR every summer with the extended edition of The Two Towers. I love everything about those movies.

    Just want to say that your performance in Dredd (a HIGHLY under appreciated film) was spot on, sir. YOU are Judge Dredd. You nailed that performance.
    I also loved Almost Human. It was a spectacular show and, again, highly under appreciated.

    Look at the detail and the care and effort and it looks so real.

    He was awesome in those films. I really wish I could grab a beer with him and Viggo or hit up some Mexican place with margaritas chips and salsa while listening to them talk about their work. I could listen to that all day.

    Karl is such a fantastic actor. He’s the reason dredd was successful. He played the perfect judge. All his parts, he plays perfectly. The man is insanely talented.

    I listened to the LOTR books narrated by Andy Serkis. Having already watched all the movies I remember being surprised by the explanation provided for Éomer‘s helmet. It was spot on for how it was portrayed in the movies.

    It’s for this reason that movies like star wars and the LOTR’s are such gems 💎. It’s because the “whole crew” had the same vision and were there for the purpose of making the script come to life. It was more than a paycheck I believe to these individuals and it shows!
    ( unlike today’s movies the new Dr strange she hulk obiwan from Disney the new Disney Star Wars 😢what an embarrassment and money trap )

    I still wish he'd do a Judge Dredd Two.
    Urban and all the great people on that project simply destroyed the cartoon performance of the original.
    Very nice helmet.
    An amazingly detailed piece of your involvement in movie history.
    Peter Jackson is an astonishing story teller.
    May he never get as bored with his movies as Spielberg, Lucas ,Ridley Scott and other legends.
