- Here is a quick video to capture the amazing sound of the Chevy LS powered P85 airplane. It really gets everyone looking when you hear it overhead. We figured it is about time we share what it sounds like. Check out the website for more info on the P85.

SWEET! First time I have seen this model aircraft! Who ever is at the controls has a really smooth control touch! That low pass was absolutely on rails! Love your design!
All those V aircraft motors have such an awesome sound to them.
It purrs
Everyone wants to build a P51, and I can't blame them, sweet machine.
Tom, I see it has been too long since I've looked in on what all you have going on. OMG, this airframe and it's powerplant are freakin exciting. Those 8 cylinders sound fantastic, the plane looks so fast and clean and that cowl is a work of aerodynamic engineering art! If you decide to sell Unleashed, please convince FAA it meets LSA specs and I'll buy it ; )
You Sir, are a rock star in my book!
You should take it to Reno, and run it in the class with the Glasairs.
Do LS engines have good reliability in aviation applications?
LS engines are incredibly strong and almost bulletproof. Especially making 200 - 400 hp. The problems arise with making sure you have properly designed PSRU, electrical, fuel systems etc. But the engine itself is outstanding.
I saw one at Oshkosh, 5 years ago. Was it yours?
Same airplane but I don't own it. spectreaircraft.com/
@@TomMcNerney It definitely caught my eye. Beautiful aircraft
Prop is fixed? Any plans for a CSP?
The new owners of the company, Spectre Aeronautics, is planning a constant speed propeller I think. Might check with them.
What mach number is the landing speed?
0.0912327 on a standard day. Or, 61 kts / 70 mph.
Thanks, Tom. That is one smooth airplane - design, flight, sound and aerodynamics.
@@robertcieslak1861 I should clarify, the above numbers are stall speed so 1.3 Vso is standard approach. Thanks for the compliments, I believe the new owner is painting now, should be stunning.
Yeah...not a short field machine for sure
Define short field? 1k ft takeoff roll, 1,500 ft landing if you nail the numbers. I'd call that short. Better than a 172.
