He's wearing a lab coat so it must be true
Heck yeah, I always wear one in court.
And it’s on the Internet! No one can doubt it
And gloves... maybe a mad scientist.
Everyone knows it's illegal to say something that's not true on the internet!
But he is not wearing a safety tie
I hate it when I fall and someone accidentally hits me with a golf club
We got you NOW!!
...............................FORE!!!
Time to rethink your life as a drunk hooligan. :D
we have to make sure your pants are good.
HHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA made my day
Golfers are dangerous gotta keep a lookout for them
3:40 I regularly have this issue in the groin area, thank you so much for this stress test.
Underrated lmao
Big pepe
I see the mistake you are making. A car jack is for fixing a deflated tire not a deflated penis. I hope this helps in future endeavors.
Magnum dong
@@jonguyton1 I fixed the problem by always wearing leather jeans at parties. 😊
Next up: Icon riding boots vs Flip-Flops!
They only test products that come back on warranty returns...maybe that says something about Icon gear haha
haha nice
funny you should suggest that, out here in portugal flip flops seem to be a favorite amongst rather a lot of people on bikes, .......fuck that shit.
Bare foot and naked

One morning I thought about putting on my armored motorcycle pants, but it was a hot day and I decided to wear normal jeans. That was a big regret, as that was the day I crashed and slid across the road, shredding my pants like paper and my precious flesh underneath. I still feel the effects of my shredded knee 5 years later.
i'll take my chances. if i have to wear 8534678 layers of protection and sweat like im in a sauna then i dont want to go riding. ive had 100s of crashes on my dirtbike with and without protection... at this point i have enough exp that the only way im crashing on the street is if someone runs a red light n crashes into me. like i said, i'll take my chances...
sales rep from overlord?
Exact same thing happened to me, I broke both my femurs, made a full recovery but still to this day I believe if I had worn them I wouldn't hand broke my legs
@@Revy8Crashes occur to people of all skill levels and of course as you say sometimes as no fault of your own. You don’t have to wear an over suit but do yourself a favor and don’t ride around in shorts and flip flops either
@@Revy8 It's florida, a touch of sweat wont kill you. Just stop, grab a slushie, then send it lol
Both these jeans are unsatisfactory. I require better protection for my cantaloupes.
Wanna protect your canteloupes?
BUNGEE NET!
spend on riding classes
When you go down,do you fall Gonads first?..
If you want to be safer, do not ride a bike in the first place, but use a car instead ;-)
A lot of riders really can’t take a joke.
why didnt you test it on a dummy with the pants on and drag it for an X amount of meters behind a car to see how would perform in a ' real world ' scenario
Drodio135 do your chores promptly and maybe your mom won't have to drag you with her car? .02
You think O'Bozo would volunteer for that? As the saying goes, "I've got a truck and a chain, I'm sure we can find a road with his name on it". :)
I think he actually did that in another video to compare a thrift store leather jacket versus a motorcycle jacket, the motorcycle jacket did better of course but the thrift store leather jacket held up decently well.
"Our totally sh!t scoring system..." And yet another reason why I subbed to this channel. Keep them coming!
I lol at that part. haha
abc Kirov i loled so hard at that part had to check comments to see if i was the only one
BrianShaggy074 why not say laughed
I appreciated this since it was super arbitrarily scored xD
Don't you just hate it when someone takes a blowtorch to your ass when you're riding!
Based on how I've gotten bloody knees falling off my bicycle on a rough road while wearing jeans, I'm not exactly going to expect much.
lol, I'm a 62 year old rider. We always used to say that a pair of jeans was good for about a metre/yard of tarmac.
A few weeks ago i crashed going about 10mph (front wheel lost traction) going round a corner with normal jeans on and it still gave me road rash and ripped up my jeans I could only imagine if I had been going like 50 😳 got my Kevlars next day haha.
Were they quality jeans or just a cheap $30 pair?
I crashed a bicycle at 5 mph into sand at Sandladder beach in San Francisco and nothing happened except hitting sand...if it was in the parking lot my nylon pants would have been torn apart
You were wearing gloves? That’s a lot of the damage done. It’s ok though. Not like you use your hands every minutes everyday. I crashed doing 70 in a tunnel. Was wearing gloves, and an ok jacket. Over a dress shirt, pants, and shoes. The tops of my ankles had road rash.
Now I almost always wear at least low boots (knee high are for women), actual riding pants utility style (not girly racing clothes), and everything has pads.
I haven’t dumped in 20 years so I’ve been lucky it far less stupid. Was on older touring tires which had shit traction. First bike. Cheap ninja. Now abs, tcs, and all the tech possible.
I did come close a month ago on wet freeway changing lanes on a curve. Wet marker, old tires again. I forgot to check them. The back slide. The tcs kicked in. It corrected. That would have hurt at 80. I don’t panic so that usually saves me how many times.
@@johnmadsen37 as i use to say "white and black lines on the road are like drugs stay away from it".
There is also the rash of your jeans onto your leg from the forces of the denim rubbing across yours skin.
The test with the jack seems off. It looked like the inner circumference of the icons was significantly larger, thereby requiring more turns.
Jake Carter
true the icon is wider so there is more fabric that can stretch.
amazed we found a mistake in this highly scientific test tho 😅
Jake Carter that was exactly what i was thinking 💭
Except it looks like they started the count once the fabric first started to resist or stretch, not from a closed jack position. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
tommy605
yes but the icon is wider at the start. so you would have to divide the turns by the perimeter to know how much each inch stretches.
"Starting from the point of first resistance".
My boy Ryan knows how to conduct a water-tight scientific investigation.
“So let’s take this good moment to contemplate the nature of failure!” LOL! You are fast becoming my favorite reviewer! A good dose of info that others don’t provide. Various testing of product. With the occasional dose of humor toss in. 5 stars.
I didn't even watch this to learn, the entertainment value was worthwhile! Thanks again!
I don't know why this is so interesting, I don't even have a motorcycle lmao.
It would be interesting to see what happens with textile pants, especially summer ones like Dainese Drake Air in comparision to riding jeans
yes would love to see the numbers for textile and even leather just to see how much diffrence it makes
Loststylus I have the Air Drake trousers, and haven't been convinced by the thin material right, but there was a loose thread that I went to yank off like any normal thread. It cut quite deep into my finger - I was surprised but kind of glad, so I have a little more faith in them now. I would like to see them tested though because they were feckin expensive and yes, I'm breezy, but will they actually save my ass? No butt padding, no hip protection (no pockets for armour there either) - could be better, for the price.
Yeah I'd love to see that
the drake air d-dry are the only ones around the price range that do have hip protection (soft ones...). i am looking at those currently! i agree with OP, would be interesting to see this test
I low sided at about 50 mph wearing a Joe rocket leather jacket and textile rainproof pants with knee/hip padding over my jeans. Both held up (but quite scuffed) and I walked away with no injuries.
Finally!!! Was lookin forward to this since announced
fiiinaallllyyy haha, thanks for the content Ryan, always love it
Sorry to keep you waiting so long for this one! ~RF9
I'm excited for next week's video. This is the best motorcycle info resource on the internet. Keep up the great work guys. It's is very much appreciated.
I like much better this version of the crash tests compared to the previous round, and eager to see the results of the upcoming episode! Good job
You spend a lot of time preparing these videos and making them flow smoothly while presenting your thoughts.
All that physics education at McGill finally paying off in the form of a kinematics equation
Great channel. Always enjoy your videos and happy that they are no BS selling tactics. Many thanks 😊
All the attitude and different tone of humor make listening to the pertinent facts enjoyable.
Practical testing that normal people can understand and relate to.
One of the best for sure, has become my “ go to “ site.
I road tested motorcycle jeans a couple of years back at 109mph+, and yes , they work. Pretty busted up but no road rash
which jeans? Single layer or lined
Dude, you're hilarious! I'm impressed with your ability to put out solid content and information while making me crack up. Too funny! But I am going to buy riding jeans!
I was just thinking what happened to this series! Glad it's back one of my favorite things you guys do
I like what you do, you make it super clear which brands are safest without bias. good work
So wear kevlar leggings under normal jeans then?
I have been trying to find good kevlar leggings at a reasonable price for months now. Any idea where to buy them?
gogo gear seems ok priced
I have a pair of bowltex kevlar leggings and they're so damn hot to wear, I usually don't wear 'em. Yet to find a riding pant, or legging that is comfortable off the bike for longer than a few minutes.
Sam Larson you give the AGV Sport jeans a look?
Matt Dennis i
very nice video
I asked myself this question for a long time
thanks for this perfect answer
greetings from Germany 🤘
Your presentations are fresh blend of art and science, sprinkled with humour, pinch of sattire and iota of sarcasm! Really enjoy watching them. 👍👌
You continue to be awesome. Thank you for doing what you do. Much love from MURICA!
Finally more crash tests :)
Thanks for your continuing testing of motorcycle gear. I'd want to point out that the seam testing is merely showing how far the jean material will stretch. A gauge to measure pull weight on the seams would be more accurate. Also, there is no use in testing heat resistance of jeans that fail the abrasion tests long before heat can build up and ignite them. Keep up the good work.
You always do a good job! Appreciate your video reviews!
This new concept of video is amazing! Keep it up man
"Meanwhile, the 25$ wrangler relaxed fit has jack sh*t. It's just a jean."
Point of fact here.... The 1940 (well Ok the 1950) jeans were way, way different than those distressed, brushed denim pair you're using.
Doesn't matter, I wear Xtra heavy duty work jeans, and pavement went through those as if they were tissue paper.
Very informative your test. Thank you!
By the way, in the 21st century, the 5tth pocket is very useful to carry wireless earbuds.
Great content. I subbed. One of the top youtubers, and yiu are crushing revzilla.
Could you do a textile vs. leather riding pants comparison? Something like the ICON Hypersport vs. Overlord or whatever else???
I am impressed with Ryan's knowledge of physics.
He’s got a physics degree, maybe he learnt a bit of math there
I have no idea what you will come up with next and that keeps me coming back to your Channel! Keep On Keepin On!
Thank you for your video's. Always looking forward to them!
Gr. from Holland!
3:53 so rather than a seam test, it's really more of a fabric elasticity test. And not a great one, since it can be swayed greatly by the size of fabric involved. I suppose it is reassurance that the seam is stronger than the fabric on both.
Calling BS on Ryan's golf game and swing speed. The best players in the world swing lofted irons between 88-94 mph. :) Thanks for another great video always enjoy your content.
GStout 452 - Beat me to it, 105 with an iron, c'mon man?!?! However love the videos too, maintain that spine angle...
105 kph = Canadian eh?
GStout 452 but he's Canadian they use kilometers
I looked through the comments to see if anyone else picked up on that. 105mph is one hella high iron speed especially with k spine. ;)
Good video though, have always wanted to perform some 'practical' inpractical tests on my draggin's....
?? Which is extremely high for an iron swing, an average driver swing for a well above avg. player is 105mph and an iron at 75 to 80 tops
You guys are really informative, well making at the same time funny....
been waiting for this one for a while. good job...
in other news fire is hot and water is wet
it was to test how hot fire is and how wet water is
no how wet fire is and how hot water is.
BuT WaTeR ISnt WEt
water isn’t wet
LOUD NOISES !!!
Awesome vid. Would be great to see you review some non riding specific but tougher than average pants. Duluth, carhartt, emt, tree service. All these and I'm sure more would make for a good comparison to your average $100 pair of riding specific jeans.
Riding pants have more layers and foam padding.
High quality cotton is still just a cotton layer.
Forty Nine, Very informative tests, Thanks !
Very entertaining and interesting. Thanks. Keep up the good work.
Ryan went straight Mythbusters on this!
You did every kind of test except for crash testing.
Yes, because in no crash does puncture, abrasion, fire, or impact resistance come into play.
That's the testing phase you have to do yourself
Informative test. Great work and thanks.
Man I was wondering about this all stuff. Happy dont have to do the tests by self.
Cool.
Thanks for posting
Curious what two layers of denim would do. I've got a pair of comically large jeans that I sometimes slip on over my regular jeans before going out for a ride and I'm interested in its actual benefit. By these tests, it sounds like it would be just as effective as riding pants, minus the initial impact resistance.
Probably similar results to wearing two condoms: actually worse than just using one.
I legit do the same thing for now before I get some riding pants.
5:19 He circled on top of the circle. Bro, why are you still on Earth?
Finally! Been 2 months I ask for the video :P! You told me soon haha
Your ability to to produce videos in the quality and frequency that you do is absolutely amazing. This is like the filet mignon steak dinner with the right wine pairing and yammie noob is like McDonald's drive through with a fountain coke.
yammie noob is indeed 99% garbage
for when youre riding thru flames
Tinfoil Hat no, for when your bike sets alight from a crash.
In case your bike falls on your leg and catches fire
Or after a few burritos.
For when you turn into ghost rider.
You basically will be when you're skidding across the road with all of the friction burning your normal clothes off until it reaches your skin, which peels off leaving nothing but bloody muscle
He looks so adorable in his lab coat he's no NileRed but 10/10.
One of the most useful videos I’ve ever seen
I would like to see how leather stacks up
thank you
great video on these pants.hope to see more of different ones as well, bravo sir!
I've been subscribed since you had few thousands but You know what Ryan i didn't like you first but know i do congrats next how about riding jeans vs leather riding pants.
5:53 Hoooot Pockeeets....
Try Lean Pockets, too! 😁
Or if you're Jim Gaffigan "Caliente Pockets!"
I love your videos because you dont fuck around, straight to the point with some comedy.
What a good riding pant that has good impact resistance in areas like knees most importantly, maybe thighs and butt but as well has great slide resistance
I'd like to see you compare Carhartts to some decent riding pants as the Carhartts are much thicker than typical pants and they've got an additional layer to the knee.
Also, to make the grinding test a bit more accurate, I'd recommend doing 1 second of grinding and then repeat it again and again until it's worn through.l That should eliminate some of the uncertainty.
But, nice video and somewhat informative.
They would work like shit against road rash get riding jeans with Kevlar don’t be cheap on yourself
they're denim so they'll abrade through immediately.
You look like Joffrey in GoT
I think that's why I hate him.
Looks more like Quentin tarrenteno

good video Ryan.
Many thanks
Its hilarious that there are people out there who need a video like this to understand that yes, protected gear gives more protection than unprotected regular clothing.
When you said Hello I actually answered 🤦♀️😆
Very polite of you.
More quality consumer advise from the Leonard Hofsteter of motorcycling. Finally after all these years I now have some concept/scale on the difference between these products. Keep the good work going Fnine.
Great video, it's useful for us to choose the best pants to ride.I am very eager to watch your next video.
I know, I know ... obviously late on the scene. I'd love to see a year over year over year discussion. (e.g. 2017 vs 2018 vs ... as long as the adjacent continent allowed us to be valiant. And by that, I mean, very, very, very, very, very rarely.
what about waterproofnessocity?
I don’t even want to own a motorcycle, but your content is so interesting I can’t help but watch.
Fun video, obvious result but still worth the watch! Thank you Ryan. Your videos rock! (...now I'm waiting for the dyneema vs aramids???)
As the owner of an 848 with termi exhaust I can concur with your fire test results.
ayyyy big fan = d
"... meanwhile, the $25 Wrangler relaxed fit has jack sh*t... it's just a jean" I literally LoL'ed
very interesting videos, keep up the good work !
Thank you so much for your videos!! I have been watching RUclips for at least 8 years and you are the very first channel I thought was good enough to subscribe to - keep it up - love your product, bike reviews and "scientific" tests - just went out and got new pants - why oh why can I not find closeout pants as easily as jackets - thanks again!
How about leather pants vs riding jeans?
Leather would certainly be better in the fire test. I have ripped down burning curtains and stomped out the knee high flames wearing mine,
you should ask for donations to buy an abrasion/tear strength testing machine and to get a dummy to drag these guys on the street. I know I would donate. your testing is way to unscientific to mean much, but if your willing to keep testing gear to find out what the manufacturers know and won't tell us I would be happy to donate money to the cause.
Thank you. Great video, I appreciate it.
This young man is really smart.
Great video.
thought that's a 'key pocket'
how the hell you fit a pocketwatch in there
I thought it was for keys or pocket knives
Never put your pocket watch there, it's the first place the stage coach robber checks.
although wearing normal jeans would never work for riding, how about using more expensive jeans like 100 levis or something like that
no.
I've crashed on asphalt doing around 70mph on both Levi's 511 and Rev'it jeans. I'll take the Rev'it jeans everytime.
hahaha fair enough
It's a shame that we can't still buy the old school version of Levis. In the past when denim started to be worn by bikers in the early days, it was much, much thicker and abrasion resistant than it is today.
Even back in the '80s when I was a kid, they were thicker. I bought a pair of Levis after a decade of wearing Carhartts and I was shocked at how thin they were. They also come with a reinforced knee if you choose that brand and for a bout a quarter the price of the Icons.
I'd love to see a comparison between them and a proper pair of motorcycle pants. As well as proper leathers as well.
These aren't very scientific tests, but they are a decent illustration.
In my experience cheap jeans hold up better than expensive ones. Work Jeans excluded, of course.
I enjoy you're testing
Great stuff, most entertaining!
It truly is all about a pair of jeans with a pair of old motocross pants under them.
Am I the only one who uses the "pocket watch" pocket?
Lighters, spare change, keys
Lots of uses
condom pocket
I put coins in it
Meme Machine Yeah bro, nobody else has ever used that pocket 😪🤯
I use it for hair ties🤷♂️

Been looking for my cup for four years! Thanks, dude.
yeeess I have been waiting for this!!!
The way i see it they are 10 times the price but not 10 times the quality lol
Why buy anything but a scooter then? It's half the price, but it's more than half the speed!
@@someweeb3650 Huh? A scooter as in a petrol one? Again its price vs quality.
@@jamgooandyou Scooters can be had for $1000 on the expensive end and can go 40mph ($25/mph), a Kawasaki Ninja 300 can go 112mph and can be had for $5000 ($44.64/mph). Why buy the Ninja 300 when it's less than 5x the speed for 5x the price?

Great video. Sure some "RUclips scienti" may show up "proving" that something has not done right, but BY MILES your evaluations are better than any RUclips "OPINION" (because, most of then are just perceptions recorded by us) shown as far as I had researched. Keep 'em coming!
