Is it really that simple? I should have been doing this all along instead of spending $13 for almond butter. Thanks!
I make my own this way all the time. I prefer cashew butter though
It's simple, but the thing is you need a good blender or food processor. Otherwise, you might burn them out easily!
It is pretty easy, but extremely time consuming. You really need to have a lot of patience when making it. At first it will seem like you’re making nothing more than nut meal, but if you just keep going with the process you will eventually end up with butter. You will need to stop the food processor every few minutes to scrape down the sides.
I couldn’t believe the prices at the store I’m definitely gonna start doing this
Watching this while eating cashews. Need to make some cashew butter. Thank you : )
I make my butter every day. Love random RUclips videos.
Love this. Just bought a stash of nuts from grape tree. Will try soon.
Excellent! Thank you for investing your time and expertise to help us out.
Happy to help! Thank you for your kind words!
my kind of aesthetics
Yummy looking. I didn't know you could do that. I guess it just requires a lot of processor time. I love nuts - all kinds but have crummy dentures with which you can't chop down on nuts. So, I remove them and spoon almond butter into my mouth, and eat it plain. Yum! (and probably good for ya)
You are one of my current favorite channels.
Now I just need to get a food processor...
Same :(
A high speed blender will will work too
nice video. looks yummy ! totally irrelevant question! what food processor you are using for this? I am looking to buy a budget friendly food processor to turn nuts to liquid ..
Same question! I don't want to spend $300 on a food processor, but I don't want to buy another one in a few years either.
Thank you!
I tried making this but it didn't come together. I've been soaking and drying my nuts and seeds for better digestion. I think this might have affected the amount of oils in the nuts, so it wouldn't come together. Just a heads up. I'll try it again with unsoaked nuts. Thanks, Dana!
Soaking is not needed unless you are trying to sprout them.
Loove this girl ! 😩🔥❤️ and ur video style!
I Will enjoy thx
How do you keep it from getting too hard to spread? Or is that something that will just happen no matter what? Thanks! 🌻
Natalie Zahm I think you have to blend it for a bit more time so it gets creamier and easier to spread ;)
@@pumpkinomom4446 thanks!
As it keeps blending, the natural oils release from the nuts and that's what makes it creamier and more liquidy versus hard to spread. That's the theory anyway. Hopefully the food processor does the job :)
Just when I was looking on how to make homemade peanut butter chips, which required nut butter. I had just bought Reese's peanut butter chils from Walmart, twice! Last night they were $4 for a bag of 7oz! And then today I found a bag of 10oz for $2.89! The disrespect and audacity of the store! 😮 Never again will I buy from store, thank you for this video! I have all the ingredients at home.
So I've tried this with my KitchenAid food processor and it's something about the blade hovering a micrometer too far above the bottom of the bowl. As the nuts blend a little past the breadcrumbs stage, they get stuck underneath the blade and the blade's momentum can't pick them up anymore and they won't keep blending. I'll run the blender for 15 to 20 minutes and the blade just hovers spinning in thin air and the nut mixture doesn't go anywhere regardless of if I mix it up and scrape the sides every now and then. It's quite sad considering the food processor is $400. :( I'll have to try the Cuisinart one that you're referring to. Thanks for sharing!
Mine is a Thermomix, costs 1400 Euro
Thank you
Nice...❤❤
The food processor looks like a pain to clean but it would be good to do something with all the almonds I have.
Cleans up easily in the dishwasher
Looks delicious! What foodprocessor did you use?
We used a Cuisinart food processor
Delicious 😋
Nut butter is life!!
Are you sure you didn’t add a little vegetable oil in that last step? Looks a little liquid for being just nuts even if done with a professional nut grinder. Perhaps I just need to run mine longer in the cuieeze. Looks awsome! Thank you for video. I like adding vanilla and a spoon of sugar but pure nut butter is awesome too.
Nope! We just purée ours long enough for the oils to start separating.
So just to be clear, you need not roast them first?
Yesssss!!!! 😀
What food processor do u recommend for making nut butters- what is the ideal size? Also, is it cheaper just to buy nut butters- how many nuts are required to make 500g
We like a 7-8 cup food processor. You can find our preferred model here: minimalistbaker.com/shop/
I tried this and it kinda got to the creamy point but not quiet there because i took less quantity of nuts. Can you tell what shoulf be minimum quantity of nuts to work with ? Also do you cool them after roasting before blending or blending them right away ?
Hi! Sorry it gave you trouble. The minimum will depend on the size of your food processor, but we find 3 cups is best with a 7-8 cup food processor. We let them cool briefly.
what processor do u recommend? im looking to buy one but dont know which to purchase
I have an 11 cup Cuisinart
Which food processor do you recommend?
I have an 11 cup Cuisinart
Will it be okay if I do this with a regular blender instead?
high speed blenders work best
No it wont work the same until you have a high end restaurant quality one.
@@Minimalistbaker what blender are you using?
What blender you use
We love Vitamix and Blendtec!
Could this be done using a vitamix?
That’s the ideal option.
How powerful is your processor ?
Answear please
it's a 7 cup cuisinart
What food processor do you use? its the same you have in the blog store, from cuisinart? Thank you
Yep! It's a 7-cup Cuisinart. I've had it for years and it still works like a charm.
@@Minimalistbaker I'm amazed that with a 350w food processor can do nut butter :D WAW!!! Mine as 1000W and it sucks :( I cant do it :(
@@SofiaCarvalhoblogger Same for me. I don’t get it. Ours should be making nut butters but they don’t!☹️ I feel like my blender will burn before the almonds turn into butter.
Do you find that a high-powered blender (Vitamix, Blendtec) works a lot better/faster than the food processor shown in the video?
We prefer a food processor over a high-powdered blender for nut butter! You can find more on that here: minimalistbaker.com/best-blenders-review-vitamix-kitchenaid-blendtec/
What jars do you use?
I've tried this method (that I learned elsewhere) many times and burned up/destroyed the motor of my Cuisinart food processor. It never was creamy like that and always gritty.
How much does it last
Up to 1 month, keep in Refrigerator until ready to use
Can you throw in multiple kinds of nuts.
Yes. I made mixed nuts butter using walnuts, pecan, hazelnut, almond and pistachio. It's so good. 👍
Can i mix the nuts or will that taste bad?
i think it will taste good,, but i have destroyd 2 blenders the last weeks making nut butter. 😥
I probably ran them in to long cycles so the engines got hot and melted the connection betweeen the bowl and the motor..
the last time i didnt overheat the engine but the connetion still gave up and crusd the plastic teeths in the connection
My own is not getting creaming but turn to dust
Hi! It will turn to dust before it gets creamy! If it's not getting past that stage, there may not be enough nuts for the size of the food processor or the machine isn't powerful enough.
I tried this out with hazelnuts and it only came out powdery. It never turned creamy. Disappointed.
Well at least now I have a protein powder
You have to keep blending it might take 15 minutes

I attempted to make cashew butter, but it came out dry not creamy. What could I have done wrong??
Hi Mika, sorry to hear this was your experience! Are you using nuts that seem fresh? If so, other ideas would be maybe it needs additional time in the food processor or a higher quality food processor. Hope one of those suggestions helps!
Saw somewhere that you need to roast it lightly to release natural oil.
My own is the same
THATS IT? oh my god
So this recipe is nothing but hazelnuts and a touch of salt? For real?
I feel its better to soak the almonds before roasting... you know to remove the skin. The skin is believed to hinder absorption of all the goodness almond had to offer. Blending it all doesn't seem great in that regard
That’s nuts
Ha, good one! 😉
So just to be clear, you need not roast them first?
We do roast them for this recipe! Full instructions are in the link above!
@@Minimalistbaker
Thanks, but I saw that. You said in the video that you can do this 'raw'. So are you saying that they don't HAVE to be roasted?
@@jimskirtt5717 Yes, if you want to! But the only ones that taste good raw in our opinion are cashews and almonds.
