    I saw this video in 2013 when I first started jj and it seemed so useless at the time. Now years later it's exactly what I'm looking for. I've found that fancy submissions videos are cool but movement/proper transitions are what makes a great grappler. Solid transitions makes the basic graciejj submissions work very well and are way easier to pull off.

      This is what I am learning too. I'm learning to just let the subs come,instead of forcing them. Being able to transition to different attacks and sweeps has helped tremendously.

    these are some of the best instructional jiu jitsu videos, love how you don't try to explain it while your doing it, its a lot better that your just narrating the video of you doing the moves, great job!

    omg i love this! it's not a bad thing, but most BJJ videos are very explainatory and slow-paced... We've all got control of how fast the video goes, what with the play/pause button... I really appreciate the style of these videos.. VERY HELPFUL for beginner-intermediate and even advanced players! LOVE the crazy legs guides.. I'll check back in a couple months to tell you how much you've improved my game!

    Only a little less than half from Dumog. That set focuses on breaking and incapacitating since rolling around on the ground in the streets can get you killed.

    @ihavenohair1975, I have trained at multiple schools, and several seminars. And I also run a Gracie Garage with the Combatives curriculum. I have never seen a better learning structure, or had more in depth BJJ instruction than I have received from the dvds. It even continues with the master cycle on the Gracie University website. RUclips videos like Jasons, are AWESOME for new ideas, wicked attacks, escapes, and beautiful transitions. But if you need finite details, Combatives are unsurpassed.

    I get high off of BJJ...even if sometimes its because someone choked me out and I'm literally high from lack of oxygen. Unfortunately I was born with shitty joints and overdid exercise when I was younger like a wanna be white David Goggins (the overtraining king) so I have to really pace myself + hate it when BJJ gets in the way of Muay Thai from injuries. Probably going to max out at blue belt...take a year off...forget everything....go back to white belt...rinse lather, repeat. Until I'm dead

    Man.... Jason i wish I could thank you in person. You are a godsend. Only thing about these is they don't go in super in depth,but im ok with that. Ill figure out any of these techniques flaws myself, when I drill these. Which is how I learn. Hahah can't tell you enough how many times I've been submitted by a armbar before becoming great at escaping them. Ill have a few slip ups, but thats because my head wasn't in the roll . Anyways . Thanks for these videos man.

    Very interesting. Just what I need in couble of years:-) For now this video is interesting because it reminds me to "study" or be aware of what my opponent is doing. I do understand that transitions are the best situations to escape. I am not fast enough - yet. At the moment I have a hard time to understand in what position I am in and no way do I know how I got in to it:-) I did recognize one or two transitions. I am sure that these moves work, when you can read your opponent.

  • @scarred10
    @scarred10 12 лет назад

    @ihavenohair1975 you cant do anything without a training partner,if you have one you can improve without any coach.Combatatives is about defending against an untrained bigger attacker,bjj in the vast majority of schools is about sport grappling,not self defense at all.Personally,i reckon every school should follow combatatives up to blue ,then do some regularly along with sport grappling after that.

  • @porl42
    @porl42 12 лет назад

    @ihavenohair1975 gracie combatives is great for what it is. note that the rank obtained is not the same as that from a bjj class (but if you aren't interested in rank that isn't an issue). there are some minor differences in focus (underneath mount they make sure to pull themselves tight up to the opponent's body first to avoid strikes, whereas most bjj classes will teach the opposite (not pulling the guy down on you making them heavier). neither is 'wrong', just different.

  • @bornfedslaughter
    @bornfedslaughter 11 лет назад

    I love this shit, and as a white belt I don't even mind that it doesn't have super detail. I like that it just shows you options that you have on the ground instead of just always being a fish out of the water. I'm interested in guard retention, I really appreciate the crazy legs. lol.

    Great videos! Anyone have experience/comments about gracie combatives videos? Due to geography I had to stop my bjj training. I'm still just a white belt. I'm not overly interested in gaining rank, I just want to continue training. Opinions would be appreciates
