Man.... what a cool time we’re in for music education. Personal demonstration of power trip by the man himself. Really good tip btw... putting your eyes on the note before you make those huge slides.
Dude. YEARS I've been trying to nail playing this right and to find out it's so simple...that pick stroke completely threw me off. On the record it sounds so much like straight downstrokes. You have a masterful alternate picking attack to make the downs sound just like the ups. Dimebag would be proud. \m/ \/ \m/
Thanks Rob! I’m really looking forward to this series. I’ve been playing guitar for about 11 years and am completely self taught. I started off with some more “classic” stuff like Iced Earth and Metallica but I’ve got to say that Chimaira was the band that truly developed the metal chops I have today. I constantly play Impossibility, Self Titled, Resurrection, or Infection front to back. They’re so fun to play and challenging but in a fun way.
Hell yeah!!! I was waiting for explanations videos about chimera's riffs and tone , it s like a dream coming true, thx a lot ! Are you planning to make a video about your solo setup (with pedal and stuff) in Chimera ? Greatings from france
Rob many thanks once again. I've been wanting for you to play for ages and loved it. This is my favorite Chimaira song of all time. Liked the way you used the whammy bar for you parts and how you showed Matt's part, very cool. All you need to do is finish off the song by playing it in full.
Awesome!!! Please oh please please. The dehumanizing process. The explode riff. I am crap at learning by ear and I am sure all the youtube play throughs are wrong. Please do a play through of this song. Many thanks. Love your vids 😊🤪😋😁😊
I play this all the time. It's fun to watch the creator play it though. I learned it off the music video way back in the day. Always a fun riff to play though.
Rob thank you for this. As I said before you are one of my biggest idols and thank you for being so humble and giving with your knowledge and playing and journeys in life. You rock brother \m/
One of the first riffs i learned on guitar was this! The pinky was tricky till i learned this riff. Also a request rob! Could you do pray for all and empire? Could never seem to get the riffs nailed for them songs and id love to see how you do it since i learn kinesthetically. Cheers dude!

Cool man! Honestly, I just start riffing to warm up, and that gets the blood flowing. But perhaps I'll make a video for what I'd suggest dudes do to warm up!🤘
3:29 I find it very interesting that Matt played that drop off note without a whammy bar because since I also do not use one I also thought I was compensating by doing that same thing 😂😂 It’s amazing to think back of how many times I had to compensate for different effects or even just not being able to play a part cleanly and how creative I had to get to work around it when I was younger (except of course...buying gear or practicing more 😂😂)
I always get hyped up when I hear that riff! I thought it sounded better With the whammy tbh. Any plans to get Mark or the other guys back on the channel?

Rob ive always wondered, are you self taught? And what was your omg moment when you finally realized you really knew yyou could play? Youre one of my favorite guitarists, just so natural and fluid. Thank you for your contributions to metal 🤘
I appreciate that bro! I took lessons for about a year when I first started out, on two different occasions, from two different teachers, and I definitely learned a lot. But after that, I'd consider myself mostly self taught. My omg moment was when I moved from Phoenix to Cleveland after 8th grade in 94', right as summer break started, and I didn't know anyone or have any friends. So I spent that entire summer by myself learning the first five Metallica tab books note for note. After that, I could riff with the best of em', and I had a good foundation for leads established! 🤘
@RobArnoldWorld holy shit!!! I totally didn't expect a response from one of my heroes!! What a fucking honor. It's awesome that you have been able to make a career out of doing what you love, I've been playing now for almost 20 years and still learning something new everyday. Thanks for all you do Rob, your riffs in chimaira heavily inspired me to actually start devoting time to my guitars. Its great to actually have the oppurtunity to learn these from the actual artist instead of a random tab or youtuber. Side note is there anywhere to still buy chimaira merch where you guys actually see the proffit from it?
Challenging song to play. I gotta be in shape to play it properly. You dudes play this in hyper mode on tour. I hope you do some Infection riffs. I'm super curious how you do your down and up picking and whether I'm playing em right. Some serious signature Rob flare that really matured on that album. Getting that shit right and to sound good took some serious time.
Great lesson, thanks!! Question about the pinch harmonic section in Overlooked. For the back to back harmonics, are you playing both or do you and Matt trade off which one you do, or do you both play all of them together?
