Motocross guys dissing a trail bike, no surprise. Have a very strong feeling that adjusting the power valve out flush would have solved all your power delivery complaints...
Im a motocross guy and fell in love with this bike. Dont know what these guys are on about hahahaha. Maybe front brake needs a bit more power but I like that its safe at the same time. Awesome, smooth, powerfull enough bike. May be the fact that I weigh 60KG, and 1.65m tall. What ever it may be, i love this bike.
Full disclosure, I just bought one. I do love it too. I am 32 years old, been riding since I was little, dirt and street. I am an open C racer, just in it for fun. I eat cleanish, work out some, and ride a lot. 5'9, 180" with gear. This bike has been really fun, and 100% reliable, even after the joke 30 day warranty from KTM. It has allowed me, at my intermediate level, to ride gnarly, rock-filled shit, much easier than any bike I've been on. This "burbling," low rev issue, I have not experienced. The suspension is very plush, and in its environment in the gnar. The headlight plug came undone early, and the red service needed light fell out of its housing. Fixed them easily enough, but it shouldn't happen for a "premium" dirt bike. Overall I love it. I ride lines I may not have dared in the past. I'm not a pro, but I'm a decent rider. Good bike, not justified to be ranked so poorly as they did, in my opinion.
You guys should try any other tpi 250 you can find. They run great but the crankcase psi sensor fails and makes them run shitty. I think your bike had a problem
4 stroke 450 motocross racers testing a 250 2 stroke hard enduro bike? How about getting some actual enduro experts on the panel who have a lot of experience with these bikes and get their opinions?
This sounds like a ccps issue. I noticed my 21 300 xcw started to stutter off idle. Replaced the ccps and back to awesome. Mine started acting up at 45 hours.
The Xplor forks just feel cheep and nastly . They are plush to mid stroke and then hydraulic and bounce back up , deflecting off things. It is very hard to feel safe on any of the bikes (ktm/husky/gg) with factory xplor forks. KTM 2016 and earlier open chamber forks are 100% better. They have 12mm chromed friction free dampening rods and a proper mid valve and adjustable base valves. Xplor have 10mm anodized sticky alloy dampening rods, no proper midvalve and not enough rebound control. I just bought a new 2021 GG350 ec and gutted an old pair of WP open chamber forks and built a decent pair of dampers/springs inside the xplore forks , without spending a fortune on cone valve components.
i wonder if they had the map switch plug - unplugged. mine is a bit gurgly down low on the soft (unplugged) map. i tried it then went back to the performance map. That and turned the powervalve adjuster half a turn in. happy days.
Rode a 21 KTM 250 TPI didn't like it felt like it had half the power of my 08 250XC and my 20 Beta 250RR RE which I am very happy with. Injected 2 strokes smoothness is great but no fun when you NEED it. Hopefully they will find a good balance without having to go aftermarket for everything.
Dang, harsh, would suck to pay all that much just to have to plunk down even more for aftermarket mapping work... was looking forward to this review cuz im in the market for a 250. I wonder if the trail ktm/husq 250s are similar? Probably? Good to know ahead of time, cuz I love the feel of a crisp 250 like nothing else, I'll have to look at the cross country versions instead for next purchase. Thanks guys
I have not experienced any mapping issue of any kind. My bike pulls very cleanly from bottom to top. I wonder if there was something abnormal about their test bike.
@@Jimmy_Watt same on mine I love it I do hard enduro and the bike feels like a bicycle with engine it let me play a lot and the bike goes where i aim front tire i think thats because of the chasis, gas gas its a trials bikes company i think their bikes are made for hard enduro not for enduros or fast trails. some people said that after 15hrs some sensors start giving you problems maybe that's what they feeling after using a used bike
What about the ec300 compared to the 250 because I’m looking at either the beta 300rr or gasgas300 currently on a yz250 and love how the power hits that’s why I love the 2 stroke so much
What type of riding do you do? Your bike is awesome for a fast motocross track. If you ride trails or hard enduro than they are better options for you. This bike is a dream for Hard enduro, trail and just Enduro overall. I bought mine and use it for EVERYTHING. its good at everything. I would prefer your bike at a motocross track, tho. If you weigh more than 80 Kg than yes, go for a 300. If not than stick with a 250. Extra power doesnt make you faster, it makes you get arm pump faster tho hahahaha
Did anyone check to ensure it was running properly? Sounds like the TPI wasnt properly compensating for elevation and/or temp. P.S. It is NOT a Cross Country bike. It is a Single Track, Enduro bike. It is virtually the same as a KTM 250 XCW. I think you need to check the bike.
Oh no the comments yikes, was the bike running right ? Did you adjust the power valve ? Everyone loved gas gas tpi bikes apart from 5 mx 450 guys 😂 I rode that bike in Bulgaria for several days and a 300 both ran beautiful I prefer the 300 for the bottom but wouldn’t have an issues with the 250
5 "experts" and not much in the way of facts between them. A "trail 250" vs. an 'XC 250"??? They're the same damn engine - same mapping. Your test bike had a bad crankcase pressure sensor. Period. You'd think if Vital wanted to be taken seriously, they'd do their research on the bike they're testing.
I had a gasgas ex 300. Sold it after 25 hours of suffering and bought a KTM 250sx. Much better bike for the trail. Happy times again! Only drawback no estart.
Dont know what these guys are on about. i've riden thousands of different bikes. Enduro, motocross, 450 4 strokes, 125 2 strokes. The lot. And this bike is the smoothest. Not the most powerfull but powerfull enough, Plenty enough. has more bottom end than a regular 2 stroke and has a smooth delivery up the revs (To expect from a 2 stroke) For me, these guys hating on the bike just made me think that their power valve was set way off, and they should of recognised the issue or they are just rookie spoiled 4 stroke riders. Suspension is soft, yes. To be expected. Only thing that is not premium is the front brake but its very hard to lock up which is a good thing. lost respect to the guys reviewing the bike, the bike is fcking awesome. Better choice (in my opinion) than the 300. I have to mention that Im 65kg and 1.65m tall. It just matters.
All I can say is wow ! Every one at one point raved about these bike , and now they are junk.? Wish KTM would refine their bikes ( suspension) and stop re inventing them , the tpi was just dumb, the tbi looks ok for now , have not heard anything bad so far. An hold the cost down, we are not all racers or rich teams. Yes I know they what to be first an dominate .

I'm surprised they didn't pull an MXA, and test it riding at Glen Helen. 🤣

Thats what I was thinkin the whole time! Grab an Allen an adjust the freakin power valve!! 😂😂

hey i was wondering because i couldnt find it anywere but dose this bike have a key in order to switch it on?
@@ferguslaw3347 Nope.
Don't know what you're on about. My ec 250 runs great. Best bike I've ever had and I like it more than a friend's te 300.
250's are more fun than 300
Agreed. 300 is a horse for me in the tight stuff so I much rather have the 250!
What about adjusting the power valve

I love my ktm 250xc so far, will eventually get the tsp low compression power kit with the re flash to see it get cleaned up but so far love it
GasGas released the info about their 2023's today.
No changes to the Enduros.
It is up on their website

Most folks go aftermarket. Change the mapping and they are fine.
I have a 17 husky TX 300 and love it! It like to see a 300 shootout!! Great series!

These need to be tested in slippery woods with wet rocks and roots. You’ll love it’s character there.
You should have taken this back and gotten another one to give it an honest go. Sounds like it was not running right.
Where can I get that graphics kit?

I have the EX250 model and it's rad. It's a map (and maybe a cylinder head mod) away from being a great bike.
I would have liked to have seen the Yamaha YZ250X in this comparison.
Yes same👍👍👍
Ride them how they're supposed to be ridden...

This 250 is a trail bike? So it compares to the Honda 250F? Stopped the video at that point thumbs down.
And the funny thing is, the original GAS GAS, now called RIEJU, is a much, much better bike than this red KTM.
Cost twice as much tho
