The KTM counter balanced 300 engine is the most versatile off road engine ever made. It will do easy, hard, fast, slow and anything in between. Easy to maintain, easy to service, simple and effective. If you hate it, it's probably because you have never owned one.

I owned a 2020 Husqvarna TPI two stroke and it was a beautiful bike - I did sell it to get my TM Racing EN300ES 2 stroke and this bike is freaking magic too! Easily my favorite bike - especially with my aftermarket engine performance parts!👌💪

Rode this model yesterday. Holy crap! It just glides! It's unbelievable. The power is super linear and controlled but there is a ton on tap. It's almost an extension of what your mind wants to do without a whole lot of over thinking if that makes sense? You're not thinking bout the clutch, rpms, not feeling the small chatter under you, not feeling the motor vibrating your hands numb.. just focus on the lines you take. It makes me feel like im better than I really am.. they figured out that tpi, crisp, smooth, instant power. Not a freaking drop of oil on the pipe after riding all day. The guy that owns it is still on his first bottle of oil after almost 50 hours. Incredible. Wish I'd never saw it lol.

In the northern woods, 300 2 strokes are just about all you see now, at least for any of the serious woods guys. I picked up my '22 300XC in November (coming off a '17 250), and it's been incredible so far. It just does everything well, silky smooth and gobs of torque. I don't ever see myself going back to a carb.

I was very disappointed in this off-road test. I think the MX guys need to better understand the bikes they have chosen and what their intended purposes are when comparing them. The 300XC is clearly a desert focused bike and is delivered with air forks. When comparing that to the Gasgas EC250 which is a heavily trail focused bike it does not make sense to compare one against the other. I heard Ping make a comment as why he can't understand how the XC forks feel different from EC forks? This is obviously because one is air and the other is spring and have two different disciplines. Please take these comments with a grain of salt on this comparison!

all depends on your terrain you mostly ride. If it were tighter and more technical, id go 2T. Open, more flowy terrain, you could go 4T too. At 50 as well, gotta take into account the engine breaking of the 4 stroke, if there's a lot of starting and stopping it can get old....the 2 stroke will glide more and be easier on your body. The new Fuel injected 2 strokes are not nearly as snappy as the carbed ones so the power delivery is much more linear. Easier to control. Whatever you choose though, you get used to and can ride efficiently in the end. Good luck!
