Thank you for actually pointing out and acknowledging how horrible the Kawasaki air box / air filter design is. In 2021 I bought 2 kx450s and 2 kx250s for my kids and I. This year I swapped the whole fleet to Yamahas with the ease of air filter maintenance being a major factor. Some other big factors for choosing Yamaha were the free power tuner app and also Yamaha offers free downloadable service manuals, not just the owners manual through the company website.
@@sparkykendall4653swm produces the old huskys and sell them for a very good price. Ajp is portugese. The pr7 is maybe the best adventure bike around. At least when you look at more than 550 ccm.
It’s weird how when you talk about the other bikes you have footage of them but then you get to the Yam and it’s full of footage of the Honda and GasGas.
haha yes it was awesome and it was even funnier when the presenter just ignores it and keeps talking about the bike despite the carnage at the back of the pack. I rewound that a few times to see the unfortunate sequence of events for the guy who cartwheels through the air like a rag doll.
Which bike did you find to be the most tame?. The one you would compare most to a trail bike over a motocross bike?. I had a 2019 ktm 250xcf and it was a fantastic bike. But the throttle felt more like an on off switch even with the throttle cam change. I am heavily considering the kawi 250x. I like the old school toll on throttle feel
I thought the same but they do the same for all the bikes......not just the Yamaha. I usually skim through the different bike discussions by what bike is on the screen but in this one I couldn't do that. No problem, I simply looked at the written description on the time bar that gives what bike he's talking about. The video footage is not meant to match what he's talking about that's all. I appreciated the great detail and honest unbiased insights and comparison which is way more important. Lots of information packed into this video.
Great comparison, thanks guys! I thought the GasGas would easily win for the exact reason it ended up losing. Most modern KTMs (and sub-brands) always strike me as having such likeable, "neutral" ergonomics, smooth/linear powerbands, lightweight, and just an overall lack of "weirdness," so I was quite surprised that in this test those features actually seemed to be its downfall! I guess some people prefer a little more excitement or character in their bikes, which is understandable! The close-ratio transmissions are total deal breakers for me, though (trail and desert riding).
Gas Gas didn't lose...None lose. Unless picking a winner and loser is important. We tried to describe, but we had to put the points up... I'll bring your comment up on Tech Talk tonight.
I've been waiting for this comparison. I'm in the market for a new cross country 450. Leaning toward the YZ, but the KX has me thinking... Thanks for this!
We will be performing a shootout with the KX, YZ, CRF, and new gen KTM later next month with all the bikes having some modifications (suspension, bars, mapping, etc) to see how they compare with the basic mods a lot of consumers do.
That’s a different class of bike (more trail-oriented, whereas these bikes are much more motocross-based). It wouldn’t make sense to include that bike without having to include a ton of other trail bikes, like the Honda 450x, Yamaha WR450F, etc.
@@EmileModesitt I typed that before watching the whole episode, but it's called an 'offroad' 450 shootout. With that said the 450 XCFW is not the same has a 450X or WR450, the KTM is uncorked and much lighter.....it's in a class of it's own in that regard I suppose.

Have the Kawisaki 450X.....love it!!!
Who got absolutely ejected at 5:09?! Everyone loves that green bike. I haven't ridden the new platform but I'm in love with the Yamaha.
He got Joe Blacked! lol
Now we need a test with the 450 off-road Enduro models and don't forget TM, SWM, AJP!
I have heard of tm, but please explain what the other 2

Yamaha has KYB suspension, that is all I need to know. Yamaha for the win!
Where's the D 37 10 mile high speed rocky whoop section test?
Jimmy said never!
Having the music in the background during the whole video is just annoying. Just some feedback…
Thanks. We will assign blame and shame the person responsible at out next staff meeting.
1000% agree. We want to hear BIKES not Russian techno music

We ended up with less Yamaha footage than expected...
Yes that was annoying.. I'm a Yamaha guy though lol
That crash at 5:10 lmao

Nice review. But hard to here the speech through to loud back ground music.

The GasGas felt the most tame in about every way for most of our testers.
That dude in the red is a giant lol
We like to call him Strech!
Why did you show all the other bikes when talking about the yamaha? Weird.
If you would have capitalized Y in Yamaha, we would answer this question. Want a low paying video editing job with riding perks?

Picking a winner and loser will always be important in a competition ;) (I know, I know, it’s a comparison not necessarily a competition.)
Would rather hear you talk, and the sound of the dirt bikes more than the music turn the music down

We may compare the 450X, WR450F, and 450 XCF-W soon
Blu-Cru for me..
Why did you only show about 20 seconds of Yamaha footage and kept showing everything else while you talked about it? Weird
I will answer this and likely lose some followers by answering this question live on Tech Talk Taco Tuesday Tonight...
KTM450XCF?
GasGas. Same shit
we need a 2025 version
Every kawasaki ever made has a horrible air box design I believe it's on purpose now
When will you test the 2023 250cc Off-Road Comparison??
We likely won't have one for 2023, but we'll try to do one for 2024 later this year!
😊👏👏👏
