Rieju bikes (ex-Gasgas) have such a better suspension when you`re riding agressive or faster!
Have a bike with WP suspension (same as KTM suspension), and have another with Kayaba, today swaped between them the whole day in big mountains, and Kayaba are sooooo much better when riding hard!

Hey Kyle. I have a 2021 version of the same bike in South Africa, which I've now done close to 100 hours on. I ride it mainly in extreme rocky conditions. I chose the Gas Gas after test riding the 2021 Husky and KTM XCW. I've owned 8 KTM 300 XCW's so I know the 300 well. The Gas Gas just felt the most right for me out the box, I love the ergonomics and it's certainly a more wieldy machine. Strangely it has it's own distinct feel despite being a sum of KTM and Husky parts. Even the motor has a different, more playful feel to it. The bike turns beautifully, while I often didn't like the KTM's tendency to push the front and understeer. This is my first linkage bike though and I find the rear end more compliant than on the PDS KTM system, providing better traction in loose conditions. There was a cost saving in the Gas Gas, true it doesn't get hand guards and a few other bits, but those tend to be things I replace on any bike anyway. So the cost saving was real for me. I have changed the forks to have bump adjustment on the bottom of both forks and rebound on the top of both, along with tuning the shims a bit for initial plushness in the terrain I ride. Hands down this is my favorite bike I've ever owned, I'll definitely buy another one when I wear this one out.

Heck yeah! These are badass bikes! I’m still sad that KTM bought them out though because now they are basically just another colour of KTM like what happened to Husaberg/Husqvarna instead of being unique to it’s brand. I helped a friend pick out an ‘07 EC300 as her first full-size bike, and got to take it for a rip last weekend. Within minutes I was in love with how the bike felt and performed on the trail! Felt more playful and addicting compared to the bland feel of an ‘06 300XC that I rode, yet the GasGas performs as good if not better!

Hmm... Where GasGas cuts costs to make them less expensive than the KTM & Husky line??? Brakes & Wheels.. I only say that because I was looking into GasGas as a future option. Near I can tell they opted for a generic wheel over DID or Giant. Now I noticed on there website they offer a DID wheel as a power parts style upgrade. Obviously for a cost.

Dude, my father owns an AJP PR5 250 2018 and it is definitely the least reliable bike we have ever owned. I have a 2020 ktm tpi, my brother rides a husky fe350 2017... I have owned and ridden quite a few beta rr300's , ktm's and many more.
The ajp isn't a real deal. All it is is a hobby rider bike. It just doesn't cooperate quite as well. It is way too heavy. The fuel injection that they use isn't set up properly. It has had multiple problems... It stall way too easy etc...
I definitely wouldn't buy another ajp. Few years back we owned an ajp pr3 125 4stroke. Of course that was underpowered beginner bike but it was very reliable. Zero issues whatsover unlike the new ajp's... Even our local ajp dealer has had nothing but problems with new ajp's... Basically the dealer hates the bikes that he sells... and btw we bought both of the ajp's new. Those weren't used bikes.
I hate to bash on bike brands but the new AJP's are crap. I would rather buy a used ktm with 300hours than having to deal with all the ajp issues...

And for someone like me who is almost 60 years old I'm not really interested in a race bike as much as I am a good trail bike. And honestly I'm not very impressed with my most recent KTM. Their build quality seems to be going backwards. My old Italian Husqvarna from 2008 was put together better..

I own the same bike. I ride ATV trails so this bike is just a super expensive trail bike for me. It is a bucket list purchase. I replaced the front 13 tooth sprocket with a 14 tooth. I still wish it was faster. This is my first "KTM". I can't put a finger on it but I detest the front brake. The front brake on my 1996 DR 350SE is better after I put on braided steel lines and different pads. The rotors are also different this year on the GasGas. They are Chinese made. Seems like "KTM" cheeped out on the GasGas brakes to save a few dollars. When you pay $11,000 OTD for a bike it should be the best production bike in the world IMHO. Hopefully there will be a "fix" for the front brake. Pads, rotor, caliper, reservoir in that order.

I think it depends how well they’ve been assembled and bled from the factory/shop/dealer. (Whoever does it). Man I hope so. I got a ‘22 te300 and it’s definitely got a low idle too. Once it’s warm it’s fine, but cold it likes to die. And I’ve got the BrakeTech front and rears as well, once I adjusted the clickers I really enjoyed them over my old Nissin setup. Honestly though, hard to find anything wrong with these new bikes.

@@StabEDealin I did the slavens idle screw and adjusted the powervalve out about flush, it’s a completely different bike now. I did have to replace the crank case pressure sensor at 40 hours though which sucked. Love the bike though.

Cut priced ktm - not that its a bad thing.
I wish a manufacturer would do a "build your own bike". It would be easy in this day and age of the internet.
Think about it, I want a gasgas 300, but I don't want the forks, wheels, triples, front brake as I will be upgrading these parts anyway.
Order the bike in this form and have it delivered to the dealer.
Or up spec it online with hard parts and have it delivered in that form - minus the original cost of what ever stock parts you're not getting.

I will take one of these reviews (this is not a bad review per se) of a new "GasGas" seriously only when it is compared to an "old" spanish GasGas/Rieju. Otherwise it's a comparison between parts in the KTM parts catalog.
Compare price (when new). Compare components on the bikes when bone stock. Compare feel of the bikes. Compare suspension.
KTM does so much good on their bikes. They feel good, quality feels good, they push technology forwards etc. But that doesn't take away the facy that these, and the new Huskys, are basically graphics kits with linkage and evolutionary cAst tRipLe cLamPs.

    • @henripuustinen4642
      @henripuustinen4642 3 года назад

The later year italian WR250 and 300 were years behind in development. Very old engine, old frame and so on. Absolutely not bad bikes but not up to par with other bikes from the same era.
The Huskys with the new chassis from 2008-2009 forwards were brilliant (125 2T, 250-310 4T). I have a WR125 from 2012 and I would strongly recommend that over their 250/300 2T.
If going for a 300 I would at least try the GasGas (Made in Spain) from 2013-forward. Such a easy to ride bike with linear, trials like power.

Not a true Gas Gas.. just another KTM version in red dressing with few cheapened components, which KTM has been gravitating towards.
I used to ride original Gas Gas bikes years ago and they were built very tough. They were a little on the heavy side but built solid with high end components. Probably one branded bike I owned that required the least amount of maintenance compared to any dirt bike built. And I have owned countless ones.
If you want an original tough built GG then get a Reiju.
