As a daughter of a father who went missing while running in mountains in Australia in 2007, who has had no closure because his body was never found, your work is so important and highly valued.
These guys found my husband's cousin Jan Smith and we are so very thankful to them. They done a very professional job and we are so blessed to have people like this in our life. Thank you so very much for all you guys have done.
I saw that episode and I'm so glad they never gave up and kept searching those body of waters. Even when they almost gave up searching they went above and beyond to search that pond for her. May she rest in peace.
I was his niece. My whole family didn’t know where he went. The last time we saw him was thanksgiving 2008. Seeing this gave all of us comfort in knowing where he was, but also devastation. Thank you all 💕
I'm sorry for your loss, please reach out and make sure everyone is okay and happy in your family ❤ I'm glad y'all know where he is now and that y'all finally have some closure.
Imagine starting a diving RUclips channel to make a difference and stop junk from being in the water to later become something even more special and meaningful without it ever being your intention to do so….. You go above and beyond man.
This is literally a tipping point for them. They had this build up of doing good things and then they find a body. Their purpose changed and they found a higher calling.
From what I am seeing and hearing... To me this sounds like one of the first "cold casses" they did (on accident) and it might have lead to them slowly doing more and more of them. I haven't watched their original videos (I just found them a few days ago) so I could be wrong, but the way he tallks at the beginning makes me thing this was the start to them becoming "search team"
My dad was a diver like you guys, but his job was to recover bodies.. it took a really bad effect on his mental health.. showed him your video. He says hes sorry that this happened but hes proud of you guys for doing what your doing
I was i diver on the Yakima county search and rescue 25 years ago and involved in a couple of recoveries. Its a hard thing to see. But knowing that the family has closure is why we do it. I thank your father for the service he provided to his community.
Seeing you find a 12 year old missing person when you weren't looking for one tells me someone is telling you what you're meant to be doing. Great work and God bless you all!
I’m not religious but it was definitely a sign from someone (maybe a higher power) or even just the universe telling them that this is what they need to do. Find the missing, to bring them home and their family answers. The mourning and the proper resting place.
Come on.... Seriously? Y'all that naive? It's a car in a body of water. Cars obviously don't belong there, yet somehow they got there. Therefore, there's only so many ways a car can end up on a bottom of a body of water and that involves someone driving it in. So there's a good probability that remains will be found inside the car.
XYZ On SoundCloud I missed that part. Sad. Life can be so overwhelming at times. Especially for those without a support net, PTSD and/or those with substance issues.
Doesn’t that just really make you mad when they can do the cops job better and then they just like nah even tho you did our job you can leave that’s really frustrating right
@@Kychaschriml Exactly. I prefer they be cordial and grateful for another solved case. Sometimes police department are not funded enough for diving teams. It all depends on where they are located and what state. Some smaller cities don't have a diving team at all.
@@Kychaschriml Even with some of their discoveries of missing persons in sunken cars, the cops called arrived with disgustingly bad attitudes. Clearly pissed that these great guys are showing them up for not doing their jobs.
Such professionalism! As soon as Jared discovered the body the atmosphere changed and it was incredible to see how fast you covered things up and the switch of gears. My condolences to the family.
I’m a ex Australian navy clearance diver because of these guys I have set up a team not even 1 week in found 3 cars and 5 lots of human remains from missing persons the oldest was from 1983
This gave me chills.... I’ve swam next to that dock. Done photoshoots there... hung out in highschool there... I want to cry. My heart goes out to the family and everyone who was involved. Thank you so much for what you guys do.
Its like that everywhere my best friend drown while trying to cool off at his fishing spot i used to go in the water but after so many people lost in our lake its sad
I have been diving for over 30 years, I am actually a rescue diver. Never could do it. It takes a special person to do this. To be able to get in cold and muddy water with currents and uncertainties takes balls of steel, and dedication. BUT, the main reason I LOVE these guys is because they go out of their way to prevent pictures of some ones love from being videoed or pic being placed on social media. This would probably get more viewers and they know it, but they DON'T do it. That's because unlike the reporters who say they care and are liars. These guys really do care. Keep up the great work guys.
The body was filmed on the live stream for a few seconds so if somebody was recording the stream it might of got out but yeah they did everything in thier power to prevent that from happening. They didn't expect to find a body in a car thar day.
Thank you AWP for what y’all do. I just found this channel yesterday and was INSTANTLY HOOKED. God bless y’all and keep you safe while bringing these lost souls home.
I applaud you guys for being so respectful and not only blurring the body but covering it and being nothing but respectful. You guys need more recognition! I’ve only just discovered your channel but I am glad I did.
@@grasscutter1963 they had a bad experience with a police officer in South Carolina who was very rude to them and the family. Police Chief offered an apology.
@@Cyberpunk2056 you have to show respect for the family, if they didn’t blur it out and put it on RUclips for one, they would get it taken down. For two common sense says the family would not like it, I know I wouldn’t. It’s a private situation and very emotional. You need to show respect for what these guys do
my dad found a body of a missing person once in the middle of death valley when he was by himself for a month studying geology for work, crazy and haunting
I am so grateful for the manner in which you and AWP show respect to the remains found in the recovered vehicles. I just rewatched the video on the discovery of Maureen Sherman's vehicle and body and the recovery. You worked in conjunction with Sunshine State Sonar. I was so ANGRY at the high-fives and hugging one of their divers did. I didn't know Maureen. But I was crying. She deserved so much respect and honor for finally being found. But his decorum was a slap in the face to the family. Thank you Jared and crew for your reverence and humility at such a painful time for the families
Not being cold or insensitive but it seems like he chose his fate? Hard to imagine how desperate and alone someone has to feel to go to this extreme? Horrible .....
Thank you guys for what you do. I am a retired police officer or retired due to disability. What you do is important, I wish I could afford the membership. but money is not something I have a lot of. I take 20 plus meds a day to keep me alive. And youtube is all I have. I have grown to love watching your videos. but want more. But and there is always a but. God Bless you guys
Sorry to hear about the stack of pill you have to take. Happy to hear you're loving the content. Wait until you see what we're filming in October. Release coming in November.
I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism demonstrated at the beginning of this video. The moment that he recognized that there was a human body in the car, "everything changed." By showing proper respect for the families of those who can no longer express themselves, these people demonstrated vast competence. Cudos.
I love how concerned he was about the person in the car to being cover up to show respect and making sure people are not taking people of someone's body that was just found. This shows what kind of person he is. ❤️
Still aching from the loss at sea of a brother-in-law whose body's never been found. You guys are such a valued group. Everyone here is basically giving you a standing ovation you thoroughly deserve.
I'm guessing this was the first start of finding loved ones for a living. So cool to start off doing one good deed then it turns into a even bigger and better deed! This was you guys calling! So thankful for the all the hard work you guys do everyday to bring closure to familys for finding missing persons. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Technically their "first start" was a video before this one where they were asked by the family to help out cause police had told the family the place was too difficult to dive for so the family turned to AWP and they helped out, but they didn't turn it into their full time passion until this accidental discovery. I'm really glad the accidental find made them do it for a living instead of scaring them off, they have helped so many families!
What you do is amazing. There are so many people suffering and not knowing what happened to a missing loved one, knowing there are people like you out there giving people hope and a chance at finding closure is wonderful. Thank you for what you do and prayers to this man's family.
As an ex LEO and medic, recoveries from water were by far the hardest for me. It takes a special person to separate emotions and get the job done. Thank you and I'm making a donation.
What is a LEO? Thank you for your help in body recovery. I am thinking about getting my diving certification and doing this. I live in Florida, where every 20 minutes you’re passing a retention pond, lake, going over the saint johns river and intercostal waters.
@@elizabethramsey1554 Liz, it stands for Law Enforcement Officer in this case, I have trouble with all the acronyms too and have to google it and decide which one it is. Good luck on your diving!
Curiosity…this was 12 years later . I imagine only bones are left ? Morbid however the body bag looked huge like an intact body rigor positioning . I just can’t imagine a skeleton under water would remain in tact after years .
@@hr8839 Lots of factors can keep a body fairly intact beyond just bone remnants, actually. Low oxygen levels in the water, pressure at deep depths, lack of marine life, water pH and low temps can all preserve remains. Peat bog "mummies" are a perfect example. Found in water and are hundreds of years old, but are almost perfectly preserved. Hope this helps.
Just imagine how many missing persons' cases could be solved if more people did what you do. It staggers the mind. Thank you for all the amazing work you do!
That's what makes AWP so special and are world wide loved. They are willing to go out and do this. Help bring closures to families. Makes you wonder why police department don't occassionaly check boat ramps when someone is missing.
Christian, AWP was just a rivers and waterways clean up crews to get debris and trash out of the water, as they did so they stumbled upon vehicles under water, most of these were old or stolen with no plates, but still let authorities know where to remove them. They got the equipment to help authorities rig up and float these vehicles out of the water. As fate would intervene one of these vehicles(as you see here) had the remains of a missing man of 12 years. It was after this that their objective changed to finding missing persons along with the vehicles. So he changed their mission in a day.
This really amazes me yet scares me. They found him after 12 years on ACCIDENT. The part that scares me is how many others have been lost to this yet have been reported missing and never found to this day.
If it wasn't for divers like your team, my son would have never been found when he drowned. He passed away twenty one years ago bysaving his cousin who was drowning and ended up sacrificing his life. very proud of you and your team I hope you all keep up the great work for a long time to come! ♥️
By cleaning the rest of the cars out the river, then law enforcement will know that the bottoms of these rivers and lakes should be clear. And just maybe they will put more into recover vehicles that in there.
@DA BOUL BLACKLUNGZ Not as much as did years ago in the 1970's 1980's and even 1990's in the 200's lots of technology became cheaper cameras for one. How many Go Pros are out there with underwater housings. That alone used to cost you more than the camera in scuba diving. Which each housing was limited to certain model of camera since controls varied. Then comes scuba gear, which lift bags and rigging gear is added cost but the tanks air is not that expensive. That leaves a Tow Truck or small crane that can act as winch to help lift and pull the vehicle out, which as you see in this video is donated by the company to help out and give back to the community. You would be hard pressed to find a Tow Truck Operator who wouldn't donate his time to help recover someone's body for a family.....
@DA BOUL BLACKLUNGZ I know what you mean but you make money off your youtube, your peatron and everyone social media account that they have monetized. There also Grasp get this people that have the equipment and actual try to do good and even solve crimes the police have cold cased. Often the reward money never materializes or has such terms that you get disqualified. That is the small legal details in the reward terms they don't mention. It has never been just "call with information and get a cash". They make damn sure that there is no way for anyone who withheld evidence and/or their involvement to get it legally from civil court case. Then you have the actual laws about those who commit crimes are prohibited from profiting from them by selling their stories from behind bars..... I know how easy and hard it is. The rigging they do has me wanting reach through the internet and backhand them for stupidity and risking their lives for "buying equipment , without learning the craft" Anyone can buy snatch blocks large shackles , wire rope , rigging chain, actual rate hardware for the loads with safety factor of minimum of 5:1 at the peak shock loading maximum that is below yield strength not catastrophic breaking strength. People have been cleaning up other land and water ways long before you tube on their dime even paying the dump fees that person throw the items out in field or waterway to avoid paying those disposal fees. People also spend their own money on it as a hobby. I've been stopped by park rangers with numerous alcoholic beverage bottles in my hands when all alcohol was banned from the park. The Park ranger thanked me and let me put them in the back of her truck, because they were wondering if they were going to catch who was making all the stacks for easy pick on the closed trail they could drive on. That doesn't even get into the group that replaced all the 1960's early non rate bolts that were drilled into side of mountains with modern devices that were drilled will more than a hand held drill bit being smacked by hammer which lead to pretty shallow bolt holes that held good enough for years. Which none of that was cheap but they worked their way through the various state and national parks even getting permits to use power drills (battery of course) that were forbidden, which had long been challenge to anyone wanting to update/replace questionable at best pieces of metal people clipped into..... So its nice to get paid but if your only doing it for the possible reward, you will lose out. Leave to those people who do good deeds because it is the right thing to do and that is the reward they expect and are happy with. Anything else is bonus.... So you know what I mean. .....
Hulu maybe...but fk Netflix. I would much rather like to see this kind of "reality tv" as compared to the "Kardashians", "Rich and Plastic Housewives", "Bachelor/Bachelorette" and other "reality tv" series of the like which do society an absolute disservice by trying to perpetuate such utter nonsense that those shows are anything close to reality.
Never ever on tv of any kind. That will end the idea behind this channel, as soon as it’s a tv show, they’ll start making “suggestions” as to how they should do things. They need to maintain complete control, send Netflix a video and if they want to play it as received, great, write them a check otherwise run, run from anything corporate broadcasting.
No they are better off on their own. Netflix, Hulu or other companies will try to control and dictate what they want to show. At least here these guys have full control of what they record and post.
Never before have I seen a RUclips Channel with so much dedication, professionalism and specialist expertise to help bring closure to families with missing loved ones. What’s even more incredible is that the team in question appear to make the impossible happen -even where the resources of the state police draw a blank which just goes to show that Adventures With Purpose bring something truly unique to missing persons investigations
But ,the note said boat ramp ,I'm not local but surely you would have looked at every boat ramp even if there are thousands where he was ,but what a great team keep at it ,what they need is a massive scrap metal magnet ,love you guys for the dignity x
Yeah it's really crazy how outsiders can come in and get involved in looking for people who police have looked for but I don't know if they are just not experienced enough yet to locate things in the rivers but you would like to think that they have the same equipment on the search boats as AWP have if not then they really need to invest in it because they are supposed to be servants for the public and not the other way around. Well God Bless.
@@TomBennett1 yea i agree, but I don't honestly think they want it to be that way, but resources are resources, I don't know how in the states or counties in states fund police work ,but keep on the right side of them ,don't give them any reason to spend their resources on stupidness (not you personally lol ), then maybe they will chuck more into missing persons

Immediately pre 'rona here we were on a cruise ship for a few days (it was a special thank you to firefighters and some other 1st responders thing) and just the other day looked at a photo I took from the balcony of our room 1-2 floors from the top so damn high up. Wondered what the smudge mark was in the photo. A zoom in showed one HUGE ASS fin riding with the boat. It would have had to been at least a 20footer to see the fin that far up. I'd never noticed it before, thought bugger falling off one of them boats.
Just think how many missing persons cases can be solved by looking in the lakes & waterways of the US. The fact there are so many just opens up lots more questions why this is happening.
Imo, many are mere accidents. What breaks my heart, law enforcement agencies, city, county, or state, rarely check the water. In many of these videos Sheriffs get miffed at these guys merely because they do the job they failed to do. So many families could have closure years ago. I keep reading local agencies dont have the equipment. These searchers tell us exactly what they have. Look up the cost on line. Many advid fishermen have the exact same equipment on their boats looking for fish. These agencies just dont want to take the time. I just hope when these videos go viral, that voters in those particular counties remember these sheriffs come election day! Look how many people have been found less than 25+ feet or less from the bank. Life cannot be saved but closure would be there for these long suffering family members. God bless all that look for these families.
@@redqdee531 That really is not the case. Many police departments simply do not have the resources to do this kind of work, not to mention the cost of the equipment. Also the rescue and recovery technology has grown TREMENDOUSLY in the past 15 years and it makes these cases easier to spot in large deep bodies of water.
@Slim Cloak Seems like a pretty terrible way to die. Not sure why someone would choose that method, other than it would be harder to back out once you are trapped in a rapidly sinking car.
*Why* it's happening? Because accidents happen. Whether it's drunk driving, suicide, bad weather, even just looking away for a split second, these things happen. Why aren't they found? Because not every body of water has someone with sonar looking in them, for starters.
Mate just want to say, I love this channel. I unfortunately lost my mum to cancer and I had closure. What you give to these people and families is incredible. Keep up the good work !!
They did everything right and showed great respect. My brother was gone for two years before we found out he was dead. Closure is extremely important. God bless all these guys. And God bless Timothy's family.
Sorry to hear that. 2 years is a very long time not knowing. My brother was missing for 3 months before being found. As horrendous as it is at the time, it’s better to know than always wonder & have false hope.
I think the craziest part is that there's so many cars underwater and it's nobodys responsibility to remove them. As I understand it, the location of these cars were public knowledge. How could they be left down there long enough for a person to be missing for 12 years? Why are vehicles not recoverd upon discovery? And how many more 'underwater junkyards' contain missing persons?
@@charamia9402 My brother works for a boat charter company. He told me where we live it's the responsibility of the boat owner to tow their boat. What ends up happening a lot is these boats get abandoned because people don't want to pay the cost to tow. And it's technically not the county's responsibility so the boats just sit there and rot. I know your comment specifically referenced cars, but I'm wondering if something similar is coming into play. Maybe the city or county just doesn't want to pay 🤷🏽♀️
@@ijustneedmyself Wouldn't surprise me. There should be some sort of environmental legislation definig whose responsibility it is and what consequences it would bring if cars/boats/whatever were just left to gunk up nature. I believe such legislation is in place here in Norway - at least to an extent.
@@un-original7148 I'm guessing the prize and inconvenience of disposing of them properly as well as perhaps a few accidents and/or oopsies putting boats in the water off the ramp.
Holidays can be really tough for people who are depressed, because holidays are usually a time of celebration and joy, things a depressed person can’t often muster and it’s a sad reinforcement of how deep their depression is. That boat ramp provided a gentle entrance into the water-it doesn’t even appear the air bag was deployed, so he probably didn’t crash into the water at high speed. I’m glad the family got closure and could begin the process of healing.

My cousin was missing for 40 years. Found out he ran off the road and into a ravine on the way to Houston, Tx on morning about 4:30 in the morning. They found the car buried down in the mud at the bottom. They were doing new construction in the area and drained the ditch and were digging in that area when they found him. Still had his seat belt on from what I understand.
From what I’ve learned from this show alone is that I am mind blown at how many cars are in our lakes/rivers and what really blows me away is how many “known” cars are there and our authorities do nothing about it.
Agree! It infuriates me the police stop looking for missing people. They don't want to spend money or time to find them. And what agency should be cleaning these cars out of our waterways???
@@davidcopperfield-notthemag397 I’m with ya man. I’d say since these cars are such likely crime scenes or evidence that it should be the Police taking charge.
Not so much that they choose not to, rather cant afford to. Especially with all the "defund" movements nowadays. What these guys do of their own fruition is rediculously expensive. Many of their videos are requested by local authorities and such that suspect a drowned car may be a a case of some sort
Writing tickets for traffic infractions is profitable. Arresting people for the ‘for profit’ prison system is profitable Diving and pulling cars to solve missing persons cases is _NOT_ profitable Simple as that

I came across my first AWP video while scrolling RUclips. It was of a mother gone missing for 4 years. The sympathy you showed to her daughter was heart warming. I am fascinated by the work you do. The respect you show for the bodies recovered is commendable. May God protect All of you as you continue this great work. #Respect. Ps I'm now hooked
Hey Jared, I caught the tail end of the original live stream from this dive and realized right about the same time you did that you had a recovery on your hands. Your respectful coverage of this unfortunate situation is exactly what I expected you would do. First class. Keep on doing what you do.
You've really come a long way with being gentle, conscientious and respectful with your words. (Not that you werent before, you were just starting to learn) I remember your first videos reaching out to viewers for help on the most appropriate words to use for these situations. I'm so proud of you guys! You're doing amazing.
The level of professionalism of these guys throughout the whole procces and how they made it look so easy when in fact even towing a normal car on a dry road takes more work and effort and also how they immediately protceted the potential crime scence and even covering the body. It seemed they were more on top of it than the detectives.
In my city There’s a one small river that legend say it cursed cuz people die in this river every year. (2year ago 2 of my friend drown here too)... This make me start thinging ....How many bodies that uncovered yet under the river that we always play, fishing or do alot of thing at that river....
This made me really sad, I'm so glad he was found but I'm sad for his family. Please try to remember when commenting that his family probably comes to this video often, and try not to say anything you wouldn't want to hear about someone you love. Thank you to the team, i hope you're dealing well also with such a shock, not expecting finding someone when just cleaning up. I know the internet desensitizes people to an extent, but try to be respectful, please, this family has been through an awful lot, not knowing for so long and the shock of finally finding out.
I started watching just because I thought it so cool what you do. I am now an avid watcher. Jared, Doug & your entire team deserve all the respect in the world! Thank God there are still people like you out there!
Who else wants to put together a team like this to search for missing loved ones but Instead your just here watching videos 😭 . You guys are absolutely amazing 💖
Same here, but I just got my AOW back in August so I've got a long way to go before I would feel comfortable diving in some of the conditions they go down in. Doing environmental cleanup now though (granted on a much smaller scale), and will likely join a search and recovery team in the future.
Me too. My 2 oldest kids are dive certified. I called a few places to get certified. I have been trying to check on the best sonar and pricing them also. But I have to wait until after my daughter wedding before I can do the dive lessons. 😔😔
When i was in the 5th grade, my grandfather went missing. We searched everywhere for him. Months later, a farmer was mowing the sides of a large ditch and saw the roof of his car sticking out of the water under a bridge. It brought us the closure we needed we were able to finally have a memorial and say goodbye. Im so thankful to the man who found him and helped us bring him home. Unfortunately this wasn’t the first time someone ended up in their car in that water. The ditch runs parallel to a road that has a T intersection into it. Another woman was rescued before my papa died and I know that other people have crashed into the water. The county refuses to put rumple strips or a guard rail at the end of the T to prevent something like this from happening again. It’s sad that something so simple could have prevented it from happening. I know a lot of people were upset about the county’s failure.
Local governments change roads / intersections (stop signs, traffic signals, guardrails, roundabouts) AFTER someone dies. Petition the city for change. If possible, then in a small way, your grandfather wouldn't have died in vain.
Do they tho would you have closure if you didn't know what happened to your loved one only knowing there dead, for instance my father died when i was 4 he had crushed lungs and internal bleeding he lived for 45 mins in agony he didn't have his seatbelt on both his friends did they died instantly from broken necks i remember lookin at my pops in his casket i personally will never have this closure you speak of its nonexistent homie
@@olesmokey394 it is closure i'd rather have a missing loved one thats been missing for 10+ years to pass on instead of something worse like being tourtured stuff like that but thts me

So you know what I mean. .....

@Thomas Bennett Sorry Thomas that didn't really much sense what I'm saying about the videos is if you live in a bad area when people go missing they have too many other things on in their mind 2 search continuously for someone who's gone missing, but if it is a quiet area they have all the time in the world, so there is no excuse

@@angelicaros333 funny you say that. I'd never noticed it before, thought bugger falling off one of them boats.
ikr you could literally be swimming over a dead body like-
Yeah just think how much people boated and swam over that dead body for 12 years
Just think how many missing persons cases can be solved by looking in the lakes & waterways of the US.
@Slim Cloak it is. I contemplated it myself. I'm fine now. Been stable for a couple years :)

not sure what's crazier: the fact that there was a body or how many vehicles were down there
I think the craziest part is that there's so many cars underwater and it's nobodys responsibility to remove them.
Mm yes, let's just drive into the water, I'm sure nothing bad will happen. Like how does that many cars end up in the water like that?
You worded it so well about depression during the holidays. You're spot on about it, I have depression and it worsens during the holidays.

Put up a go fund me and other fund raisers and then use the funds to pay for a guardrail installation.
