I almost pulled the trigger on the Canon XF 605 but since this z200 come out I am definitely going to pick it up because I am so heavily invested into Sony I am familiar with the camera menus. This will be great for the race coverage I do for ATV and dirt bike racing in the woods

Very good review, thank you! Do you have any experience with the Z190? I have a Z190 and I'm not very impressed with the image quality. It always feel a bit dark and soft, maybe I just can't find the best settings. Have you compared the Z190 and Z200/Z800? I might make the change.
Thanks for watching, the Z200 is a different beast , but with the bigger sensor, now feels very capable of some 'non-camcordery footage' if that's even a thing :)

New run and gun champion. Only thing that looks slightly weird is how you would shoulder this camera... or is it just meant to be held in front of you.
Okay I just read up on these camcorders & found out they do shoot 4k@60fps BUT why does all the reviews only show samples of 1080 & 4k shoots only in 24 or 30 fps & only show footage of a lake, some flowers or anything pretty much stationary…..I wanna see footage of these camcorders in real life action situations just like another person in these comments say they record auto cross racing etc….we wanna see 4k@60fps footage from these camcorders.
So is this Sony's answer to Canon XF605? I can't wait for a direct comparison...I use mostly Sony FX30 cameras in S-Cinetone so this could be a good match...but I would love to see a comparison against the XF605. I still use my old Canon XF300 camcorders for some live events.
Hi, Great review of the features of this new camera. I have just a small question. While changing the White Balance via the quick menu 08:06 does it only change the while balance mode from Preset/A/B like the Z150 or can we also change the temperature on the fly like the Z190 without going into Full Menu. Thanks in advance
I think you can do this in the Quick Menu (via single press of Menu button), in the Quick Menu as in the video, you can only switch between Presets/A/B . I dont have the camera with me so I can't confirm, hope this helps.
@@VisualsCoUk That would be disappointing as my HXR-NX80 can record 120fps in 1080p with sound. So in post I can either playback at realtime speed or slow it down for the slow motion effect.
Congratulations on the review, I was looking forward to that camera. I would like to know if PXW Z200 is more sensitive in low light than PXW Z90 - HXR NX80. Hi Tim, in custom mode there are Paint settings, however I have not dug into them. However, given that this is a PWX camcorder, I think its safe to say you can paint the image for multicam setups and intercut safely.
Hopefully this is a silly question in 2024, but coming from a Z150 I must ask because it can never be assumed, can it record 4k and display on the flip out screen and an external monitor at the same time?
this is a legit question, and yes it can record 4K internally and output a 4K image via SDI, since it's 12G, you can also output a 4K image via HDMI. By 4K I mean UHD 3840 x 2160. Hope this helps,
I'd image it was to keep the price more affordable. 3 independent rings would be idea, but I found the IRIS dial on the side to be quite useful and do the job.
Do you know what the aperture breakdown is - at 1x it's f2.8 and at 20x it's f4.5. At what mm's does the aperture change? For instance at 85mm, what's the aperture?
Good question, I dont have the demo camera with my anymore, so I can't say the exact breakdown (the specs I was given also do not have this listed), but if I recall from memory, it ramps up from 1/3 way in, and at 85mm you're looking at f3.5 thereabouts. The reason for the crop is that the full sensor cannot read out as fast as 8.33 ms so it crops into a 4k region that can.
