    Just started getting into WH this year at age 50. Have been a D&D player since the 80’s. Been mainly into the hobby aspect of painting miniatures but have been trying to play WH with my two sons and at the local GW. Tough to keep up with the expansions though especially with how long it takes to paint. Still love my new hobby.

      The trick is, you don’t have to keep up with the the expansions. Only buy what you want to play, especially if you’re mainly playing with your sons. Have fun, and thanks for watching!

    I'm loving Warcry and can't wait to get my copy of Monsters and Mercenaries! I have 7 Warbands (3 of the Warcry Chaos kits + 4 from the stuff I had already collected) And now just get to play with more of my old toys in a new way. Really looking forward to more Warbands getting added, I'm waiting for the 2 new ones to be revealed and hope they let me make warbands from my Khorne and Tzeentch armies!

    The Kill Team expansions utterly killed the game in my area with a common sentiment of "this is just a scam to slowly sell armies to people who didn't want a full army" with lots of expectations for vehicles and units coming down the line. Didn't quite turn out that way but they put out a lot of content at a pace that put people off with the assumption its fast follow up meant it was always planned to drop expansions after the players already bought in that felt mandatory. Thing is the same people play Underworlds and have no problem buying damn near everything and now they play warcry but are getting wary again.
    Personally i think its 'premade teams vs bring your own models from another system' that puts people in that mindset. Hopefully release exhaustion doesnt put people off again but only times gonna tell.

    The Fated Quests are actually 4 New Campaigns that any Warband can embark on. They are not faction specific. You don’t do them in the middle of any current campaign, they’re their own Campaign. @8:40

      @mouseketeery 5 лет назад +3

      Hope you don't mind me butting in, but I'd say Kill Team and/or Warcry would be good ways to get back into hobbying, simply because you don't have huge model counts. Blackstone Fortress is also cool, there are more models involved but they can be interesting to paint because they're mostly individual characters - no massed ranks of more or less identical models. Also, Blackstone Fortress can be played on your own, which might be helpful if getting out to meet other potential players is difficult for you - you'd still get to be involved in a narrative game.

    I haven’t actually played the new expansion yet, but I’m really looking forward to it. My LGS is having a tournament to get people together for it at the end of the month and I’m playing splintered fang. I picked up 2 boxes of splintered fang to change some lists around, but the mercenaries give me yet another set of options to build around with.
    Personally, I’m a fan of what I’ve seen (though, again, I’ve not PLAYED it yet) even if I think they might have rushed it out a bit soon.

    I think they've done an awesome job in AoS. WH Underworlds is the competative game (specialized competative). And then Warcry, specialized narretiv campaign. Smart, really smart.
    The problem in 40k is that Kill Team has do to both for the gaming system right now and thats not good

    • @SciFiPorkChop28
      @SciFiPorkChop28 5 лет назад

      that's a very good point... I think Kill Team: Arena was supposed to be the "shadespire" of 40K but it doesn't seem like that happened (at least in my area). I've been trying to avoid Warcy for a bunch of reasons, not the least if which is that Kill Team let me down... but I do see that they are very different games and I do think that having more realistic expectations for what the game does and does not do is key to whether I should take the plunge or not.

    "Is there a tournament scene?" Ehh... Well, I'm currently prepping to have my first tournament of Warcry today XD But it's just locally and just for a single day. Kill Team last year had about 12 weeks of 'tournament', which was also fun, but we had a huge loss of players over those weeks, so I like the single day tournament better for this. Plus, Warcry games take an hour tops, over Kill Team which I've never managed to finish in under 2 hours.

      I don't understand what this "tsunami" of add-ons is that you are referencing. They added this book and as far as I know they haven't even announced anything else for warcry. And this book is entirely about bringing models you already have or give you an excuse to go grab one lol.

      Probably at the time of ordering the starter box I did not see the all the extras released simultaneously (terrain, factions, etc.). But when I checked later at the GW website I decided this is too much for me. As 40K fan I do not even have any AoS models, so I did not want to play a catch up game with GW. Please do not get me wrong, Warcry looks pretty interesting, but it is not something I would spend time and money at the moment.

    I was really hoping, that Warcry would bring AoS to a more competetive level, just as Kill Team: Arena did. But until now I got to admit, I am vastly dissapointed. Since GW stated, that Warcry is gonna be the hybrid of Shadespire and Kill Team, wich it clearly is not.
    So until now I am not playing Warcry and won't do it, until an expansion is released, that gives that competetive game option to the game. And if it will not relaease, the game will not be interesting at all.
    Narrative is not interesting at all imo, so until now they push it in a direction I don't like.

    As someone who got the starter set around launch, and is still in the process of painting the models, I wasn't super excited to hear the word "expansion" a month after release.
    I also couldn't care less about narrative play in any way. I just want to play some pick up open or matched play, so this book, being more than half that stuff (just like the "rule book" only having 15 pages of rules out of 150 ish....) isn't of super interest to me.
    It also seems, again from someone who doesn't have a huge collection (Warcry is mainly to get ppl into the hobby right?) that this is GW's way to go "pls buy models that no one buys!". Some factions have 6+ mercenaries and others (bonesplitterz) get 1. Seems all over the place. Not a fan of spending the cost of half a warband on 1 hero unit.
    It seems that the terrain, and now this book, is a way to sell recycled models that aren't flying off the shelves to ppl.

    • @oakshand149
      @oakshand149 5 лет назад

      Your idea of how this book and the mercenaries work is entirely wrong. You can take any merc from your grand alliance. So while Bonesplitterz only have 1 Merc they can also take any of the Gitz or Ironjawz mercenaries. Also they aren't ALL worth a third of a warband. The most expensive for Destruction is a Megaboss which yes is 255 points but that's relatively the same as a brute.
