- This June I heard Andre Watts give a perceptive and illuminating performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Pacific Symphony conducted by Carl St. Clair at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Orange County. Unfortunately, he has not recorded it. Here,Watts plays Liszt's " Un Sospiro" from Trois Etudes de Concert.
This recording is actually the first I ever heard of this piece back in the 80's. The world is a better place because of that "Andre Watts Plays LIszt" album.
This the best interpretation of this piece I ever heard. Watt is the GOAT!!!
Very Beautiful performance.
Fascinating!! Happy birthday Franz Liszt. Thank you for sharing this beautiful performance.
I have his long play record around year of 1986 , I really enjoy he play this piece ,thank you .
Andre watts possibly has the greatest iteration of this, the ever so powerful F major on the lowest end is just so consuming (2:05 to 2:12 ish). I can hardly even prevent myself from just swaying with it.
Yes, this is probably his favorite piece. He played it on the Mr. Rogers show back in the 80s and it's on his program for pretty much every solo recital he gives.
Thank you for uploading this.
Let us all hope that Mr. Watts will recover swiftly.
Oh I did not know he was ill. What Happened?
RIP dear maestro! My favorite piece played so beautifully by you!
