    Thank you for taking the time to review our paints! Always love to hear feedback on them to try and make them a better product.
    We are based in Australia and at the moment, USA Gundam Store is the main stockist and distributor of our products in the US. We are working with them to increase shipments as demand has increased 10 fold in the US over the past 6 months. Expect more regular restocks and healthier stock levels in 2021 at USAGS. :)

    In Australia, these are waaaay easier to buy than Alclad, and are almost half the price too. Plus, I have been buying these since before they were even widely available so I may be biased but I love these paints! Shout out to Scott for keeping SMS going strong all these years.

    Aaah! I'm so excited you decided to test tinting the chrome!! I'm using the MG Barbatos, a kit I see being available for eternity, as my first real attempt at advanced customization. I'm talking airbrushing, handbrushing, panel lining, scribing. I'm almost done with the inner frame and about to move to the outter plating where I want to do clear purple over chrome to give a chrome purple look. I just can't get exactly what I want. I've seen some other Gunpla artists do it but I've not gotten it down and I don't know what I'm doing wrong as I am fairly new to this world. I'm SO excited to see what you come up with using the alcald chrome as a base!!!

      I'm working on it. It's going to take some experimentation before I can post a final video but I am working on it

      Thinking about it, what I'm not getting is the mirror effect. It does look metallic but not in the way I want. I've tried putting klearkote over it, clear base, and just spraying the clear color directly into the chrome. But it's a GaiaNotes lacquer. I wonder if I need to move to an acrylic paint to preserve the mirror effect... Ideas, ideas, ideas. Eitherway, again, excited to see what you do with it when you do! :D

      @@FractalThroughEternity just so you know, the Alclad clear for their chrome is an acrylic.

      @@barbatosrex9473 No rush on you! :D Take your time, just wanna share my excitement! And thats excellent information on the clear for their chrome, it makes sense. If I do just Aqua Gloss it definitely preserves that mirror effect. I forget what clear base and klear kote do just on their own. I'm going to have to make a test of tester spoons at each step to refer to.

    Why do all these different brands have different idea of what Aluminum or Steel color looks like. 😒
    Cant wait for the next test. Lacquer Clear color over Chrome is tricky. I find the easiest way is to use Tamiya Enamel Clear color over Lacquer Chrome because it is clearer than Water based clear and unlike Lacquer Clear, they will not react to the Chrome as much; the effect they have on the Chrome is only something like Aqua Gloss.

      I'm not sure you realize this but I put the clear color in the chrome paint and mixed it together then spray it over black

      @@barbatosrex9473 👀👀 You can do that!? Really interested in seeing the results.
      Preserving Chrome finish under clear color is one of my biggest challenge because it always degrades the mirror like finish.

    • @FractalThroughEternity
      @FractalThroughEternity 4 года назад +1

      @@parnashwind I did a lot of digging for the right info on this exact topic. I want to preserve the mirror shine as well. Your enamel comment has me thinking thats the next step I'll try if the acrylic ontop of chrome doesn't work.

      @@barbatosrex9473 I didn't realize this is what you're doing. I didn't know you could do that either!

      @@FractalThroughEternity Acrylic does work. But Enamel I find to be clearer than Acrylic. Basically I sprayed the Molotow on something and dropped different thinner on it; Lacquer thinner, Alcohol thinner, Enamel thinner etc. I notice that Enamel thinner does not affect (react with) the finish so I went with Enamel.
