The difference between "Chameleon" and "Colour Shift" is just the naming. We rebranded from the Chameleon name into the Colour Shift range in 2018, so there are still a few bottles out there with the old branding on them. The contents are still the same, so if you have a Chameleon bottle, check the SKU and match with the Colour Shift with the same SKU as we kept them the same so as to avoid confusion with retailers and their systems.
That Alien over black is super impressive!
Our paints are also available through The Gundam Place Store and Fusion Scale Hobbies (both can be found online) as well as USA Gundam Store. Hoping to be able to get more stores on board in due course to make it easier for everyone to get them Stateside!

Sms paints are amazing, I use them all the time. The pearl range is amazing as is the colour shift. There are more version in the colour shift range, toxicspill is my all time favourite. Great test, awesome to see our Australian product getting an international shout out.
I'm really starting to love SMS paints. I've only used a couple of colors, but I love the ease of premixed lacquers. Hopefully, we'll get some 60/100ml bottles soon 🤞

The "Alien" reminds me of the textures on some of the Covenant armour and weapons in the first Halo game. Fantastic stuff!
Thanks for showing these SMS paints Rex. I've been using them for quite a while and just finished a Porsche 911 930 turbo done in the Color shift Lava and looks great. Always have good results with these paints. They have got to go over a black base to get the full effect.

I've used those hobby lobby color shift paints myself and they work pretty good. You gotta thin them just right or they spackle, but when you get the right consistency, they go on smooth. I did a whole kit with just those pretty much. Wish I could post a picture here

I love color shifts, thank you for doing these videos, they're extremely helpful and informative. I Wo der got the yellows would fare over a dark red or brown base, the blacks seem to always make them more green looking probably because of the blue content in the black.

Nice test and they've got some good ones in the line. I've had some mixed results with a number of companies, but I'll give some of these a go and see how they work. I have some of the same color combos, but they don't quite have as much color saturation as these do. Thanks!

one thing I applaud you on is keepign the focus considering the camera will try to focus on all the particulates that airbrushing the colorshift paints produces, you can see it sparkling in the air.

Very nice colors. I tried the Folk Art color shift paints and didn’t care for them. Of course I tried them on grey primer. I will have to try them on gloss black primer.

You can look at the spray source alpha pigments! They have wild color changing paints!
Kustom Service chromes are great. Alcohol like Green Stuff World, and they have multiple tones. For color shifts Solar Color Dust has a lot of different powders; color shift, temperature changing, water change, holographic.
Lava over black is just dying to go on a Wilem Dafoe Green Goblin kit!
I have some GSW color shifts that I love, but I haven't seen anything bad about SMS anywhere. Maybe time to invest. Thanks for the great video, as always.

These colors look great. I’m really interested in that Alclad chrome lexan spray paint. I’m always interested in a good chrome but I rarely get the chance to airbrush.

That's a neat way to do patreon. Another thing I usualy see on patreon is lauching a vid 1-23 days earlier there. that's also a low impact "bonus" that doesn't really harm the youtube side.
I know this is over a year later, but if you revisit this, I'd love to see what done of these look like over chrome.

Hey a question: What colors do you recommend for paint the canopies of the different fighter jets and bombers like the F-16, EA-B, F-22, F-117 ?
If you see this planes, someone's have a "gold-red" or "green-violet" cover .
Could you test this colors in transparent canopies please?

I just bought them all, and four of the Alien.
I wonder how some of these would look lightly sprayed over white...I have a 1/350 enterprise refit to build and need something like this for the azteking.
Thanks for the suggestion of using the Tamiya spray cans to get a dark gray base coat/primer. I got the Gunship Gray 2 as well and love that kind of satiny semi-gloss sheen it has for my metallics, but wish I had one just like this in a lighter gray as well - the light gray Tamiya spray I got was more flat. Do you have any suggestions for a light(er) gray base/primer that has the same sheen as the Gunship Gray 2?

The actual GT-R painted in the official purple color shift paint is worth a fortune because it was only a few painted in that color
Question as am curious after watching a few of your colour shift tests.
What colour are your walls and ceiling in your spray booth area. Reason I ask is that they do look great and you can see the shift in colour but there is a definitive green reflection happening on the spoons.
You can really see this on the SMS Lava where it is supposed to be Orange and Yellow. As soon as you pick up the spoon it's green predominantly this is why I am asking is there anything green in your room that the shifts are picking up on. It also happens with some of your other vids on colour shift paints.

I use SMS and have done for years. Airbrush gets cleaned out with Tamiya lacquer thinners.

Yes just be sure it's fully cured
I used a color shift paint on some of my WH40K models to make Power/Force/Nemesis weapons more distinct. If I had the time I would redo them with these new ones.
I also just picked up a paint from Turbo Dork that was the perfect color shift for the "energy" on a RG Gundam model. Kinda like when Unicorn does its transformation.
Finally I have a question, what paint do you use for Madder Red or Bright Red on Gundams? Can't find one anywhere.
I'll check my inventory for a madder red. You can also get a madder red using a standard red with a couple drops of black added
