My drum teacher is 6'2 and like 325 lbs and plays on a tama club jam kit a fifth of his size for almost all his gigs (mostly jazz and worship drumming)
Exactly. Currently selling my Dw Performance studio set, gonna buy this, also gonna buy a crash, a better pedal, a new hardware case and a cooler snare. Its better not to have back problems, so this is gonna be a huge relief! One bassdrum case fits the bassdrum + floor tom + tomtom. It couldnt get any better.
This drummer is killing it! The kit is tuned so well. Every other video I’ve seen online on this kit made me leave like “eh, it’s ok” but this really shows it at it’s finest
Thank you for this! One of the things I look for in a drumset review is a guy who can actually play well who actually plays the drums with some conviction so we can get the real sound of the drums. Great Work! and I've been in the market for another small kit and this just may have me sold.
This kit sounds amazing for what it is. If you live in a small space or drive a small car to your gigs, hard to argue with how it sounds, and the price is right too.
Thanks for the great video! What a great little kit. I might have to have one. Also, those are the nicest sounding Zildjian cymbals I’ve heard. I just might need those more! Thanks again. Best wishes - Tim
Amazing playing by this guy, the kit sounds amazing and definitely he is big part of it. All the best for this guy...btw, I just ordered this kit (in surf green finish) form by local distributor.
Yamaha once again blows the competition to hell with this compact kit. Sounds like a full sized tom kit, and their lightweight hardware is the icing on the cake. Then the other special feature is the "fat"/electro floor/snare..Although that idea was created by Tama, Yamaha made it more financially accessible..Superb playing and audio quality as well..
This sounds great. I had my Stage Custom All Birch cut from 24 by 17 to 24 by 10 in 2014, worked very well and most of all, fit to trunk when roading. Tone comes from diameter, not from the depth I guess...
I'm fairly certain I'll be buying one of these kits for my practice space, plus for any rehearsals and quieter/smaller gigs - it will save time and my back. This tuning used here was great - I would love to port the front head and see how much more "slap" I could get with a wooden beater. Could you please confirm the batter head used here on the kick? Great drumming by the way too!
I have two of ”these”. The first time I had to shorten my 24x17 drum to 10” deep, and then I made 24x7 out of the rest what was left. Pretty sweet drums, they double as woofers also! I have used Evans EQ4 and Aquarian Superkick ll with great success. With short drum you have to deal with wild rebound and sustain, hole in a reso does make experimenting a lot easier. Good luck and have a great time with drums!
How did you achieve this beautiful bass drum sound? (listening to this through recording studio monitors with sub) I don't see any close mics in the video.
Sweet kit, nice chops. But why choke those beautiful cymbals to the point where the wing nuts are so tight on the felt it doesn't allow them to breathe? Also, nice foot work. Making that shallow 20in kick blend in those groves is tight 🥁
I was wondering how did you get that tight close miced sound without close mics. Than I saw that mic in the middle of the kit. Nice one Memphis drum shop 👍
@@memphisdrumshop Let the man know he's got fans out here. That's some of the best drumming I've seen on your channel since George Sluppick was on here. :)
Now, if only Yamaha or any other major brand would make something like this, but with more tom sizes, like what DW did with the short stacks. Just don't make it like $2k for a 5 piece.
Let's face it. For 85% of real world gigs for most people out there, this kit and cymbal set is literally all you need

I hope this drummer finds great success.
I came here looking for a demo of a kit and wound up watching a whole drum solo with my jaw on the floor. What a player!
Finally someone who tuned these unique drums perfectly.. Thank you Raven.. you just sold me.. putting my order in.. Peace
lol I too love the drums and the player but just so you know the COLOR of the kit is “Raven Black” - that’s not the dudes name! Haha
This brother is one of the smoothest drummer I've seen for a long time. Excellent!!!
the recording quality is unbelielable and the tuning is perfect!
He's selling me on the kit!! what a fantastic drummer, perfect touch and groove

Drumset is great, but the drummer is amazing.
This guy is a great drummer and makes any kit sound great.
I did not see those floor tom snares coming. Too cool.
Drumset's nice and all but this dude is sick lol
Chris Pat! He's the man!
FOR SURE !!!! Who is he ?

True...
Finally. Someone actually playing the kit. Sounds great!
Brilliant demo of the kit, the chap playing really shows the kit's and his own versatility.
This was one of the best product demo videos released in the last few months!!
Those toms resonate beautifully. And was not expecting the snare wires hah, immediately thought of Lang and his snom.
Yamaha nailed this kit! Superb drumming also!

Amazing drummer. This guy is going to make any kit sound great.
Any kit sounds good in the right hands and his hands are totally right. Fabulous playing!!

Now this is a real demonstration. Great job Young man...
Killer demo, guys! Amazing new Stage Custom version. An all time classic and once again new version sounds killer!
I love how this man demos so many different styles of drumming. Master class stuff.
Oh... And great set too.
Really tasty playing.Doing the best job to show what this kit can do.Bravo!
after reading the comments, it seems like everyone came for the set, and stayed for the grooves!
Awesome little kit and this guy showcases can be do on it. I would like to have one.
2020s dopest kit
This guy is a great drummer!
Great kit and lovely playing!! Wish I could play like that

This dude is such a smooth player
Great musical playing!
I lost count how many times I’ve heard this groove already
Great demo! You can really hear what these drums can do.
Kit sounds amazing, and the dude is solid…!!!
Came for the drums i stay for the drummer!
Thanks for the great video! What a great little kit. I might have to have one. Also, those are the nicest sounding Zildjian cymbals I’ve heard. I just might need those more! Thanks again. Best wishes - Tim

HE IS SO GOOD! awesome kit too, and amazing recording for just 2 mics... cool video
Nice kit, well played!
I did not expect that good of sound from those!🤯
Insanely awesome. Yamaha knows their shiz
Great drummer
Tasty player. Best sounding value kit out there.
Fantastic playing mate!!
Sounds so good. Wish y'all would demo and carry the Ludwig Breakbeats. I wanna hear a good demo.
This kit sounds beautiful
Sounds perfect to me :)! Not the price of the kit matters, but the skills of the player! ;)
Yamaha has done it AGAIN👍🏾‼️

Pitch comes from diameter, sustain from depth.
Great sounding drum kit & great Drummer! ❤️
Wow, small kit , big sound! Yamaha is Yamaha
Sick playing damn
I was doubting this set.... until I saw this. Sold.
The bass drum is killer!
Chris pat smashing
The bass drum sounds totally meaty. How are you guys recording this? Are there any plugins like EQ or compression on the drums? Many thanks.
I was thinking the same thing!
he play love for drum .show skill so good.kit good to. I by one
dude can play!
Sounds amazing
WOW , just WOW !
But dat bass drum though!! Color me impressed!
How did you guys tune the snom? Just got the kit and wanted to replicate the same sound.

Holly shit this thing is versatile
nice grooves
Dude could be playing plastic buckets and I’d wanna watch. Holy smokes 🔥
Bass drum sounds great, is the natural a wrap or wood….?
#MaximumThumpification ❤❤❤
I want this kit
How did you achieve this beautiful bass drum sound? (listening to this through recording studio monitors with sub) I don't see any close mics in the video.
There's a close mic on the kick. You can barely see it on the overhead shots.
Yamaha have done it again :-D
How'd y'all mic this? I see one near the kick batter, any overheads?
So cool 👍🏻
They went straight for the Tama design 😏
That’s so cool! Nice work 👏🌹🇦🇺✌️
Which mic was used for the recording? Sounds great!
That drummer... who is this guy?!🔥

@memphisdrumshop How was this mic'd?
Sweet kit, nice chops. But why choke those beautiful cymbals to the point where the wing nuts are so tight on the felt it doesn't allow them to breathe? Also, nice foot work. Making that shallow 20in kick blend in those groves is tight 🥁
great feel, what's with the thumbs down people?
Damn they sound good
Could you provide the name of the team with which you record? Mics-Interface Tnks!
Just realized I need a throw off for my floor tom
How did that kick sounds like that?
where is mic?? and how to record? that sound is like individual mic recorded
I was wondering how did you get that tight close miced sound without close mics. Than I saw that mic in the middle of the kit. Nice one Memphis drum shop 👍
@@bigtimebyallan hi I just saw your question. The mic is next to the kick pedal. You can see it at 0:10 - 0:17
1:05 how it feels to chew 5 gum
underrated comment 😂
2:36 = speed glitch in the drumming matrix😂
Hot damn
Who's the drummer? That dude is really good! :)

@@RodrigoInostrozaC a good room perhaps
Please what heads are you using?
I have this kit and it don’t sound like this 😮
We list heads in the description but we're using the Remo Coated Ambassadors on the snare and toms, and Remo Coated Powerstroke 3 on bass drum.

thx!!
